I traded my wife's note10+ and bought flip 3 with the hope that esim will work (box has 2 imei printed) and newer phone, despite lose of sdcard/stylus. esim is not going to be enabled anytime soon, now i understood.
question: before trade in, i did a samsung backup (as i do all the time in the past). But on flip 3, there is no option in the samsung member settings to do restore (or backup), like in the past.
Samsung stopped their backup/restore via their cloud? or did i miss something?
The backup and restore feature is definitely available on the Z Flip 3. I am not sure why you are trying to access it via the Members App, but you'll find it in Settings/Accounts and Backup/Samsung CLoud Backup. You could also use Samsung Smart Switch when changing to a new phone. Pretty easy to do.

Hi everyone
I am currently using a oneplus one and bought an s6 as it looks like a good phone.
However, my first impression is that the phone has too many native apps; before I start using it properly I will be migrating all my settings, data etc from my previous phone.
Anyone migrated from oneplus one to s6?
what rom would you advise for samsung s6?
Thank you
I used to own the OnePlus, cool phone. I would highly recommend Xtrestolite rom, it's very debloated and there's an aroma package that you can flash and choose which features you wanna install

Hi thank you for the reply.
I have checked the rom and looks interesting.
However, there's one issue, it states:
"I would NOT recommend to restore system apps or app data of your apps with Titanium backup, only the apps themselves.
Restoring App data or System apps can cause problems with the apps. (This applies to any ROM!)"
I want to backup app data of my apps that are installed on my current one plus one and restore it on this new phone (viber messages, sms messages, contacts and also settings of some other apps as well), will I be able to do this or it will cause issues as suggested by the author of the rom?
How did you backup restore all the data of your oneplus one to the samsung s6?
Thank you
I have managed to install Xtrestolite, still testing it and it looks faster but I am trying to get all my previous apps work on this new device.
Most of them are working but at the moment I am having problem with Tasker.
In tasker some of my tasks requires accessibility tasker to be turned on, I turn that on and then I am asked to enable the universal switch, if I don't do it, the accessibility for the tasker doesn't get enabled, if I DO enable it, an error is through "settings has stopped working"
Does anyone know how to fix this?
THank you
I recently bought a factory-unlocked 32gb S6 (g920i) and spent the past few weeks setting up my applications, launcher, etc. For reasons that are not pertinent to my question, I've decided to return the S6 and replace it with a 32gb S6Edge (g925i).
Is there a way I can COMPLETELY clone all the apps, data, and settings between the two phones? I understand that the phones are close to identical but I suspect it is not safe to restore an S6 backup onto an S6Edge. Am I right about that? Assuming this is the case how can I preserve all my settings?
When I bought the S6 I migrated from a Moto X and it did a good job of installing my apps but none of the app-specific data or settings got transferred. Will SmartSwitch do this or do I need something like Helium?
Thanks!
Duh - this should have been posted to Help & Troubleshooting. Sorry for the mixup. Is there no way I can move it?
With root use titanium backup. Without root try using helium. Just google helium backup appdata you should find a tutorial

I know this is a tired topic, and it seems without legit root + TB that it really isn't doable...still, I'm very curious if there are strides made that maybe I'm not aware of. All of my searches, regardless of device, seem to be more or less the same; you can get a good chunk between apps like Helium, SmartSwitch, and ADB backups, but none of those will be all-inclusive or really even close to that.
For those seasoned in this, is this just the status-quo at this point? Devs, is it safe to assume that without root, one simply cannot backup app data verbatim?
I ask for the obvious reason: I don't necessarily recall every user ID and password, all settings, etc that I set up for a given app. Especially with the introduction of finerprint readers. I seldom have to type in passwords anymore, between saved credentials in Chrome and established logins on individual apps.
I'm really hoping it isn't a far stretch to find a way to transfer, if not backup this data completely.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
Works on majority of apps, make sure its set to app data only, otherwise it won't backup. If it nags about some desktop password remove pin/pattern or any other screen locks.
If you want to backup sms/mms/call logs use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackup

I've used Helium in the past, and it wasn't all-inclusive. If I do app-data only, will it backup app data that includes login info and whatever settings I've configured per app?
You really don't have much choice, this is the only app that can backup data, you can try smart switch but I didn't have much luck with it. Just try it and hope for the best.

Are you coming from a non samsung phone? When I had to return my 1st Note 7 I backed it up to the samsung cloud and when I received the 2nd Note 7 I restored from the cloud and it did the screens, apps, data and everything. I was surprised and also happy with it.
I currently have the S7 Edge. Samsung cloud is enabled on it. I sincerely can't be the only one who is looking for this ability without root though.
Im also searching, but for per app as helium doesnt work for me

I can't remember as it's been well over a year. If you have Samsung Pass on your phone and you back it up I would think it would log you in to your individual apps.
Hi.
I'm ashamed that I'm writing this. I thought I knew how to do stuff.
I've bought a new s8+ and I want to transfer my apps, app data and user files from my old tablet (Lenovo, Nougat) to my new S8.
Samsung smart switch seems to be shockingly useless. Using either Wifi or cable, the tablets will not stay connected for the transfer to occur. Play Store doesn't offer to install the app data obviously. And Google backup doesn't have an option to restore. I'm flummoxed.
Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations for the best way to do this please.
Thanks.
God. Why did I move to Samsung. They don't even have unique device names. I'm assuming this is the phone thread. Life is BS.
I am using Galaxy watch since long (gear1, S2 and S3) and it was easy to make watch face backup with Samsung cloud backup utilty. Y'day I have bought GW4 (lte) and found here on XDA search that samsung cloud no more backup third party app and watch faces. It's a pain to individually download from play store everytime.
Today while exploring watch, I have found an option to make backup over Sasung smart switch so thought to give that a try! Surprisingly it can backup watch faces too.
Some limitation there for non rooted phone users though. As smart switch on phone saves backup to Android/data/*smartSwitch-packagename*/ and you needs to have root access to use this directory.
Root usesr (only rooted phone requires no needs to root watch) can make backup of Smart Switch with some backup utility like I am using SwiftBackup and make backup of App+data+Ext Data (Ext data backup includes backup of watch faces and other settings of watch)
You can anytime restore this to device and later to watch.
Here guide how to backup & restore (Apps/Settings/Watch Faces etc) on Watch 4/5 (Wear OS)
• While your Watch is connected to device - Open Galaxy wear app in phone - watch settings - Account & Backup - Smart Switch Backup
• Make backup of desired things
• Once it is completed, use SwiftBackup and make Backup of Smart Switch (App+data+Ext data)
• Now whenever you factory reset device & watch, Simply connect your watch to device → Restore Smart switch from Swift Backup (App+data+Ext data) → From wear app Watch settings → Acc & Backup → Smart Switch → Restore → select desired stuff you want to restore and you will have all apps,Watch faces etc get restored.

i have used my own batches for this for quite awhile
BulkInstall & BulkPull batch scripts for Windows (For use with Watch/Phone)
Okay, so as i have often had to reset the watch during testing this and that, and since i have a few apks that arent on the Google Play store, i wanted a quick easy way to backup the 3rd party apks on my watch, and to also have a quick easy way...
forum.xda-developers.com
i got tired of installing software and apps and decided to use the simplicity of adb and batch files, i think its compact as you can make it...theres almost more comments than code...
Also respect, your name is well known going back a long time!

Good to know.
But I think if phone is rooted, Smart Switch + Swift Backup is far better and easier solution. Main benefit is no PC requires so you can do it anytime anywhere with just couple of clicks.
This is indeed quite useful and Dr.ketan proves again, that he is a person, who is always eager to contribute to everybody here.

I simply don't have a Smart Switch option there. Could you, please post a screen shot of yours?
I have Smart Switch installed of course.

Really weird
Here it is. May be try after logging in with samsung & Google Ac
Cannot backup Watchfaces made on WatchFaceStudio on PC and loaded to the phone.
Tested backup from Watch 4 to -> Watch 5 and vice versa.
Ended up manually loading all GWD files again.
I suspect this is only available on Samsung phones, as it isn't showing up on my Poco F4 as well
