Backup/Restore from S6 to S6Edge? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently bought a factory-unlocked 32gb S6 (g920i) and spent the past few weeks setting up my applications, launcher, etc. For reasons that are not pertinent to my question, I've decided to return the S6 and replace it with a 32gb S6Edge (g925i).
Is there a way I can COMPLETELY clone all the apps, data, and settings between the two phones? I understand that the phones are close to identical but I suspect it is not safe to restore an S6 backup onto an S6Edge. Am I right about that? Assuming this is the case how can I preserve all my settings?
When I bought the S6 I migrated from a Moto X and it did a good job of installing my apps but none of the app-specific data or settings got transferred. Will SmartSwitch do this or do I need something like Helium?
Thanks!

Duh - this should have been posted to Help & Troubleshooting. Sorry for the mixup. Is there no way I can move it?

With root use titanium backup. Without root try using helium. Just google helium backup appdata you should find a tutorial

[Q] Best way to backup game saves/data?

So I have a rooted Asus Transformer (TF101), and I have several games on it that I've made quite a lot of progress in. I was wondering if there was some sort of app or something I could use to back up the save games/data across device reformats. When I went from JB 4.2 to JB 4.3, I thought I had used Titanium Backup correctly, and ended up losing nearly 2 months of progress in several games. Does anyone know if I need to have the Pro version of TB or if I just used it incorrectly? Or even another alternative?
I used Titanium backup (free) several times and never had any issue. Make sure to save apps+data and if device is rooted it should work. Some software for pc (such as Moroboro) can backup data but it don't always work, and this one is pretty invasive.
You can just backup the app data with google in sync settings
I use titanium also
Hmm... I'll have to give it another go after work and class then, and check out the google syncing, thanks for the replies.
another question, somewhat related:
Is it possible to use TB to restore saved data to a non-rooted device if I decide to switch the games to something else?

Titanium BU vs???

For the first time since I bought this app years ago, TiBU has failed me. It showed it did a backup but nothing there and I didn't double check before my flash. Shame on me.
The question here is: What other backup method paid or free is equal to or better than TiBU? I like the fact that I can backup and restore sms/mms with attachments using TiBU but I feel I need another option.
Please advise. TIA!
I user helium backup. Works fine and even works without root if you have a PC

My Backup Pro does not backup all apps/data; some purchased software is somehow blocked by the app, I've noticed that from my backup logs (I run it on my unrooted Nexus 7 FHD). Helium, to the best of my knowledge, backs up everything via adb backup. I occasionally also use Helium on my Nexus 7 FHD which isn't even rooted. (I use TiBU on everything else). And, as I think was said above, if you're rooted, you don't need a PC for Helium.

Pro version requires root for full features. I have never had issues
in the 4+ years I'vebeen using it.

The problem I've had with MyBackupPRO (paid version, rooted) it is that it closes when I try to selectively restore by scrolling down the list of backed up apps. I've raised the issue to rerware, but they haven't responded. In addition, going back to my Incredible, it never seemed to back everything up (or at least it couldn't restore everything. And on my Nexus 7 FHD, which is not rooted, it definitely won't backup a number of paid apps/data.

Rom advice for s6

Hi everyone
I am currently using a oneplus one and bought an s6 as it looks like a good phone.
However, my first impression is that the phone has too many native apps; before I start using it properly I will be migrating all my settings, data etc from my previous phone.
Anyone migrated from oneplus one to s6?
what rom would you advise for samsung s6?
Thank you
I used to own the OnePlus, cool phone. I would highly recommend Xtrestolite rom, it's very debloated and there's an aroma package that you can flash and choose which features you wanna install

Hi thank you for the reply.
I have checked the rom and looks interesting.
However, there's one issue, it states:
"I would NOT recommend to restore system apps or app data of your apps with Titanium backup, only the apps themselves.
Restoring App data or System apps can cause problems with the apps. (This applies to any ROM!)"
I want to backup app data of my apps that are installed on my current one plus one and restore it on this new phone (viber messages, sms messages, contacts and also settings of some other apps as well), will I be able to do this or it will cause issues as suggested by the author of the rom?
How did you backup restore all the data of your oneplus one to the samsung s6?
Thank you
I have managed to install Xtrestolite, still testing it and it looks faster but I am trying to get all my previous apps work on this new device.
Most of them are working but at the moment I am having problem with Tasker.
In tasker some of my tasks requires accessibility tasker to be turned on, I turn that on and then I am asked to enable the universal switch, if I don't do it, the accessibility for the tasker doesn't get enabled, if I DO enable it, an error is through "settings has stopped working"
Does anyone know how to fix this?
THank you

Best app for backup of apps, desktop, etc

I buy and sell phones to try the new stuff and previously had been strictly with iOS. I'm just now getting in the game with Android again, and was wondering what app is most similar to an iCloud or iTunes backup?
I see some things on the internet, but they are a little dated. It looks like Helium back-up is a good choice?
My contacts are all stored with Google or Microsoft Exchange at work, my photos are stored with Google or Dropbox. Text messages I don't care too much about, nor call history.
I just want the hundred or so apps that I have downloaded to download again and also to be placed on the home page in the same folder that I had before.
Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Are you rooted? If yes try to buy titanium backup pro. Definitely worth the penny.

..BUT YOU NEED ROOT
I dont think titanium restores app properly, many app gives force close

titanium is the best for rooted devices, however it does not arrange icons in folders like you mentioned
I have never had a problem with titanium imo it's the best

I don't see any other option even closer to Titanium.
You need to learn about titanium how and what to do and what not to do.
I have some app +contacts +messages carry forwarded since samsung galaxy s (my first Android) to Note 1- 2-3-4 and currently on N5
See here a message I received on 2011 and still now on my device
Thanks to Titanium

Question samsung cloud backup/restore option missing on flip 3

I traded my wife's note10+ and bought flip 3 with the hope that esim will work (box has 2 imei printed) and newer phone, despite lose of sdcard/stylus. esim is not going to be enabled anytime soon, now i understood.
question: before trade in, i did a samsung backup (as i do all the time in the past). But on flip 3, there is no option in the samsung member settings to do restore (or backup), like in the past.
Samsung stopped their backup/restore via their cloud? or did i miss something?
The backup and restore feature is definitely available on the Z Flip 3. I am not sure why you are trying to access it via the Members App, but you'll find it in Settings/Accounts and Backup/Samsung CLoud Backup. You could also use Samsung Smart Switch when changing to a new phone. Pretty easy to do.
