One ui 3.0 Canada? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

My frnd's s20 already got one ui 3.0 last week but there's no update for note 20 ultra in Canada yet. Anybody knows when the note would receive it?

From what I have seen one ui 3.0 will roll out January for us in Canada

TELUS web site says January 5th. I couldn't wait and installed T-Mobiles...

there is a U1 tmobile out?

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully one ui 3.0 would bring better battery life to the table.

Finally one ui 3.0is available in Canada from today. BTW anyone has seen big change in scrolling speed on Facebook/Instagram/any apps? Scrolling speed looks slow now idk why, seems like samsung intentionally tweaked the scrolling speed.

Optimus 3D release-date facts, rumors, speculation and all that...

Alright, lets kick off the new Optimus 3D forum with the latest rumors on when it will be released.
More than one UK retailer (yes there was 2 different ones) has/had it on their sites for release at April 26.
Now there is supposed to be an official PR about the O3D being released in June, but also almost 100GBP cheaper, more on this at:

or
http://www.fonearena.com/blog/31975/lg-optimus-3d-shipping-in-june.html
What about Honeycomb?
I would say it would be a longshot if they didnt put Honeycomb on it; its very powerful device that needs to have the good stuff..Honeycomb in 3D would Awesome! ALso, i dont remember what phone(its coming soon) and i think it'll have Honeycomb version
Honeycomb is tablets only
25 april by expansys.it
anyone known what file system use this phone
I watch clip & see that camera has clean android UI
Update release date, late May in UK, better than the last news on early june.

Not at all. It is optimized for tablets, but any phone can run Honeycomb. The 3.0 is not a new branch of Android, it's the same...
BTW, LG France created a Q&A in Facebook with lots of info. It's official : no 3D before June
That's better for me, I'll have to pay for my Nintendo 3DS first lol

Mmmmh you sure ? I was thinking the whole device is built in China, no ?
I've ordered mine 2 months ago over Amazon, they didn't tell any problem after the disaster...
UK mobile operator Three has leaked some slides showing a June release for the Optimus 3D.

Looks like June is showing up in a few places. This is great because I don't get an upgrade till June anyways.
It is shipping only with version 2.2, will be upgradeable to 2.3. I really hope LG does a good job of getting this update out there. Usually companies take a while to get it finished and considering LG has to make a 3D UI, I hope they are already working on it.
This device was probably started a while ago and they have been working on it for some time so that is probably why it is only version 2.2. Most phones coming today should have 2.3. No reason to not have it.
The fact the phone will ship with 2.2 is really a problem for me, as we don't even have an idea about when we'll get 2.3. As I'm coming from Sony Ericsson and the X10 "fatal update failure" (8 months with Donut when everybody had 2.1/2.2, since January 2.1 but NEVER new update...), it's really scaring me.
TI OMAP will give crazy results, but HTC EVO 3D looks promising - and shipping with 2.3. HTC as I know is much more working on updating their phones right ?

Don't go so crazy here. 2.3 is not a significant performance bump compared to the leap from 2.1 towards 2.2
2.3 is more of a refinement within the Android platform. As you stated, the OMAP chip is a great performer. Now a benchmark can be staged but when you see similar results from different sources, then the numbers are solid. The Evo 3D too should be a speedy phone, but it will be released later than the Optimus- if that influences your decision at all. Finally, LG has openly stated in numerous occasions that the 2.3 update should follow shortly after retail release of the G2X & the 3D.
Dated release at 2011-06-03 at a Swedish retailer.
Guessing that rest of EU will be getting it at the same time.

That's not too bad, as long as it's not the end of june. I'd like it in my hands before then
I been researching the specs of the optimus 3d/ thrill 4g and have come across speculation about the RAM of this device. I've read in some places that it has 512mb of RAM, then in some places I've read it has 4GB DDR2 RAM. Can anyone confirm this?
If it does indeed have 4GB of RAM, then I'm sold.
EDIT: It has 4Gigabits not 4Gigabytes. So essentially it has 512MB of DDR2 RAM.

Marshmallow UPDATE available. Note5,S6 Edge plus

Did anyone noticed this thread?. Some guy received the Marshmallow update on his TMobile Note 5. This is a good news for S6 users, because I'm sure someone will be able to port it, since it uses the same Exynos processor. Thread location http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/general/note-5-marshmallow-dump-t3249840
Looks nice
Aw made thread without seeing this one.
Yeah update seems nice also memory managment is finally fixed!

Portugal has not yet received Android Marshmallow, why?

Hey guys, so like many of you ive been waiting for an official release of marshmallow for the galaxy s6, because as anyone who is at least a semi curious photographer knows that the camera api 2 manual controls are completely broken in android lolipop and the stock camera cant do half the setting that camera api 2 offers....
Anyways ive been reading that the camera api 2 in android M has been fixed and even the stock camera ap has got new manual settings which is the main reason i am so interested in android M.
However.... I see that Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and UK which are all around Portugal got the update and yet Portugal (which is 1 of the most advanced countries in the world internet wise speaking) is still waiting for how many more weeks?
What kind of parameters are used to choose the Country update priority?
Best Regards.
Nobody knows priority or parameters that samsung uses ...
For s6 i guess france and vodafone providers have priority...
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
They cant really be that random because since the days of Galaxy S2, Portugal has got the middle finger in the update priority, i was hoping that would change with Galaxy S6 but apparently it didnt....
It's really bad, the update policy of Samsung. How random can you be? Country for country, why not whole Europe at once
Join the club. I've not seen any MM update here in Norway either.
Because they take isocell on first priority lol

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is already displayed in Portugal at the typical stores for a few days already, with the price of 999€ (1000€) for the gold galaxy s7 128GB, that proves that Portugal isnt insignificant for Samsung.
Maybe they confused software update with hardware update and instead of releasing us Marshmallow for Galaxy S6 they released Galaxy S7
still waiting on EE UK also

Lol i guess times changed, back in the days having an unlocked phone meant that we were the first to get the updates and carriers would either follow the boat or simply refuse to do so.
Now it semms that there might be some dirty tactics of time exclusivity, as in, Carriers like Vodafone paying up for beying the first to release a new version of the software so everyone who dont want to wait long might consider in the future to choose Vodafone instead of a carrier free phone, i dont find that surprising if true... because it makes 0 sense for a brand to release an update sooner than unbranded, since Samsung provides the software already ready to compile and ready to run and Vodafone has to waste extra time to add their junk in the phones.
Do consumers care that much about updates delayed for a few weeks to sway their buying decision towards buying from a network carrier rather than unlocked? I mean, we in this forum surely care about that kind of thing, but Average Joe out there, I don't know

I think its safe to say that it will have the opposite effect, instead of wanting the newest galaxy model they will simply feel betrayed and move on to another brand alltogether, then give bad reviews to that Corporation for their friends, collegues and possibly even on the internet if some are geek enough.
Look at Rise of Tomb raider, Microsoft paid millions to have that game exclusive to XboxOne and yet everyone boycotted the crap out of that game because of such dirty tactic.
But greedy companies will never get it, they will always try it again and again to boost their sales, even if it actually hurts them instead.

There is no update for unbranded Hungarian firmawares.
Only Vodafone.
Samu is just starting releasing for t-mobile also, BUT WHY NOT for THE UNBRANDED ONES are the first?
that take less work than customize operator releated Firmwares...
I bought an unbranded because of faster updates......
ps: I have got the 6.0.1 upate today ( XEH)

UK Owners Check-In

Thought I'd make a thread for UK owners to check-in seeing as it launched here yesterday. How are you finding yours so far? Mine's been fine for the most part, and I was surprised to see a case included in the box (I don't usually do cases but figured I may as well this time if it's free). Couple of oddities though, notably:
- There's no option to stop it adding newly installed apps to the homescreen. Had to install Nova Launcher in the end purely to stop this!
- Where's the 8.1 update? Mine's stuck on 8.0 with the February patch. It seems to be a different model number to what others have (TA-1055) so I'm hoping it'll come any day now, but still...
Other than that, though, it's been sound. Haven't noticed any issues with task switching that others have reported and the experience has been pretty smooth going in general.
Where's everyone else?
Some minor issues, but otherwise performance and battery life is great, brightness is fine, haven't tried any bluetooth audio or headphones yet though. Pleased with it.
Had an issue where OK Google detection was not working, but that's fixed after a reboot. Doesn't work with screen off which is slightly annoying, going to try Google/Play beta and see if that makes it work. Otherwise hoping for this in future updates.
Opening the google app from the G logo in the launcher search bar doesn't work properly - feed doesn't load and it appears as though I'm not logged in. Contacted support about this one and they said they'd investigate, but didn't get the impression they'd actually submit a bug report or anything...
Not a huge fan of the launcher vs my old Nexus "Google Now" launcher, prefer the central button for the app drawer. Not sure what to replace it with for now. Considering the pixel launcher but am unsure which version would work well. Also the nav bar at the bottom seems overly thick, which is a shame with such a huge screen.
Nokia's camera isn't the best, it takes good pictures, but I much prefer Google's camera, especially for HDR. Arnova's Pixel2Mod V7 final camera is nearly working flawlessly, but the selfie cam resolution is lower than it should be and lens blur crashes it. Also no support for the 2x lens with that. Waiting on a version which will do everything correctly.
Yeah I was a little disappointed that screen-off OK Google doesn't work, but then my house is littered with Google Homes, and it was a little annoying when my Nexus 5X would answer a query 30 seconds after the Home had already done it. So maybe needing to turn the screen on works in my favour here.
What colour did you get, out of interest? I really wanted the white one but nowhere seemed to have them, not even Nokia themselves.
Edit: And do you have a link to the version of the Google camera you're using? There seems to be half a dozen different variants.
Went with black, preferred it personally. I think OK google with screen off is something that doesn't work on a lot of phones after googling around, so it's not too bad to not have it, but disappointing for me nonetheless. I had hoped to have this feature as it never worked very well on my old 5X. Haven't tried with a bluetooth headset though, which apparently works for other phones with the same issue, and that would be useful sometimes for me.
As for the camera, take a look here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ but specifically this one: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7-Final.apk
So the UK version doesn't come with 8.1 Oreo?
I was going to exchange my Huawei P20 Lite for the Nokia 7 plus.

Not out of the box, no. Like I said I'm assuming it'll be released within the week but I haven't asked Nokia directly. It's probably just because it's a different variant I'd imagine.

I believe all the UK models are dual sim? It certainly has the hybrid sim tray in mine, though I haven't actually tried using a second sim or tried the other space for a sim

UK models are single SIM. Clove has a dual SIM option on their site.
EU models are dual SIM.
Nokia 7 Plus Single SIM - TA-1055
Nokia 7 Plus Dual SIM - TA-1062,TA-1046 (I think the TA-1062 is the Chinese model)

Glad for this thread, as I think no one in UK / Ireland got the update to 8.1.
More on this here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/help/eu-7-dual-sim-ta-1046-model-stuck-t3780101
I bought my N7+ from Amazon.de and I am still stuck on 8.0 with feb security patch. Using the phone in Ireland on Three and Vodafone networks (I have the dual SIM TA-1046).
According to Nokia Support I should be able to get the update to 8.1 once it will be available. their latest reply:
"Regarding your inquiry, it is is good to know that your Nokia device should be able to update to Android 8.1, once it is available. Also It is good to know that updates are released at different dates in order not to overload the network and when there is an available update you would receive a notification."
Regarding the phone:
- looks great
- great build
- superb battery life
- quite snappy (compared with my Oneplus X)
- got a Nilkin case (looks great on the phone) from here http://nillkin.org/smartphones-acce...plus-accessories/nillkin-nokia-7-plus-frosted
Not that I'm sadistic or anything, but quite happy to read here that other People are waiting on 8.1 update too. Got the phone yesterday from UK to Ireland TA-1055. 8.0 with Feb patch
Phone is pretty good.Im coming from Oneplus 3 which was fanstically otimised for speed so I am noticing the Nokia a little slower even though the sd 660 beats the sd820,but it's early days for this phone,so will give it some time and hopefully soon more speedier updates.
Phone needs more optimisation definitely and can't get rid of vibrate on fingerprint.Camera is good, but app needs fixing .Will try one of those pixel apps.
Hoping the 8.1 update will be next week at least. Bit worried for the future if they're making us wait on updates already.Maybe Google will have a word with them and tell them how Android One is supposed to work

Insider info from an advisor at Carphone Warehouse, The Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 2018 are being discontinued in coming weeks due to manufacturing faults. It seems some units are exploding when on charge using the supplied charger. Also will be pulled out of the Android One program later this year for not committing to timely updates for all regions. Everyone get ready to return or sell your device.
I think it could be end of Nokia for good this time.

Android 11 Update Timeline?

Hey Guys,
It's been a while since I last used a Samsung device, my last one being a Galaxy S3! Since then I've used Nexus and Pixel devices which get updates immediately, although I don't except Samsung to match the speed, I was just curious to hear from long time Samsung users to know how far has Samsung come to quickly rollout updates?
Thanks!
They've gotten much much better. I'm not sure if it's the same with unlocked versions but I get updates pretty quickly compared to how it used to be through my carrier.
Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
I would think a public beta would be coming pretty soon and full rollout for Android 11 by end of the year.
The Samsung Wearable app just received an update for OS R support.
Public Beta for OneUI 2.0 began on Oct 14th last year for select devices. Seems Samsung may be slightly ahead of the schedule they were on last year so I'm hoping we see a public beta for one ui 3.0 in the next 2-3 weeks. Beta will likely open up to S20 line first then the Note line. If you are on either S20 or Note 20 I would expect official stable release before the year is out. Likely sometime in the month of December.
I was on a Verizon branded note 10+ that time last year and got the Android 10 update towards the end of December.

Honestly back then it made a noticeable difference in feature sets. That's no longer the case TBH. Samsung runs a pretty refined software experience, and stock android is now kanging Samsung. Almost every feature Google introduces, Samsung has had for some time.
