Metropolis 3D City Live WallpaperIntroduction
Metropolis is a live wallpaper that streams urban, drone-scanned 3D scenes onto your home screen. It currently has 100+ 3D locations in North America and Europe, including:
The Empire State Building
The Statue of Liberty
Paris Las Vegas
Bordeaux Cathedral
and more
All these scenes are fully 3D like the ones in Pixel Live Wallpaper from Google. If you like Pixel LWP or Super Wallpaper, then Metropolis would be a good alternative for you Here is a trailer for Metropolis:
Features
100+ 3D locations (actually 147 now, a complete list can be found on getmetro.app/collection)
Camera animations, including phone unlock top-down animation and launcher page swipe rotate animation, as well as the scale and speed slider for animations
Camera parameters, including dolly zoom (adjustable field of view), brightness, vibrancy, and sharpness
(Pro only) Custom location in North America and Europe
(Pro only) Wallpaper brightness can follow dark mode
(Pro only) Blur after unlock to increase the readability of labels & icons
Download & Giveaway
Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.justzht.metropolis
Or just search Metropolis on Google Play
I would like to share 50 Pro IAP codes on XDA, there is no requirement, just open the spreadsheet, redeem the code, and try all features.
However, if you can leave a comment specifying which code you used, or leave a feedback/rate on Google Play, it would be much appreciated. Link (Used: 50/50):

Performance Concerns
Here is the catch: Metropolis is built with Unity. Yes, that Unity game engine.
Now, before you close this page immediately thinking that's crazy, please read my explanation on why using Unity (might get technical):
Currently, the only 3D city model data source that I, as an indie app dev, can get on the market is the Bing Maps Unity SDK. This Unity SDK shares the same upstream data source with Windows 10 Map app and the incoming Microsoft Flight Simulator (well that is just a speculation). That's the main reason I am using Unity to build Metropolis. (I know there is Google Earth but I cannot rip the model due to copyright issues)
I certainly understand your concerns that Unity might destroy your battery life and available memory, and Metropolis does have a relatively high memory usage in current stages. This is mainly due to the SDK's streaming approach. Unlike Pixel LWP or Super Wallpaper in which the data is already baked into a static scene, Metropolis streams city blocks tile by tile, which comes with additional memory cost and draw-calls.
However, the battery cost should be on par with most 3D live wallpapers, especially if you enable the 'adaptive framerate' option in the app. And I will continue optimizing the app with newer Bing Maps SDK that is more memory-friendly. After all, you can always download the app for free and try it yourself.
(BTW, a fun fact: Xiaomi's Super Wallpaper is also Unity inside)

Hi! I am checking the codes on the spreadsheet one by one to see if they are really all redeemed. In the meanwhile, you can wait for another batch at the comment section of the XDA main blog post, thanks!

It's a shame I came late, I'll keep an eye on tomorrow's batch, thank you for giving away those! I was hoping someone would come out with a "customizable version" of Super Wallpapers, so thank you very much there!
I'm already trying the free version and, though I'm aware this is in a Rushed Beta™ and you may be already working on it, I wanted to leave here my 2cnts:
The initial "zoom in from Earth full view to rotation side" effect is so dramatic (and beautiful) in the SW, maybe you should take a look at that and tweak it a little bit. I especially love how it spins faster while zooming in for the original SW.
The "zoom in the selected area" could use some kind of fade to black or extreme motion blur in between, taking like half a second, otherwise it feels so forced especially using low dolly zoom (because setting it too big shows the grid and that's even worse).
Hope you keep improving this awesome app! Take care and stay safe.

Thanks for the feedback! The original SW is surely a more mature package with many visual details I only realized when I got my hands on it.
As the original SW has special permissions granted from MIUI, it can show the full-earth view when in AOD. (The AOD permission was previously available to 3rd-party apps on Android P, but in Q it was blocked by the system). Metropolis cannot display in AOD due to this restriction, however, I would be happy to add a toggle to show the far side view at the beginning of unlocking animation, just like what linuxct's SW port did.
Yes I forgot to consider the case of dolly zoom in top-down animations (facepalm) and this would be fixed in future releases. I am still analyzing the original SW animation frame by frame, and from what I currently know in order to achieve a similar effect I might need to both increase the scale of motion blur and the resolution of earth texture so people won't see pixelated images at the end of the animation. Hmm I am still experimenting around this and will get back to you when I have made some progress so you can try out.
Have a good day and stay safe!

@OP
Didn't get any "Unlock Codes" but thanks for this, really nice!

thanks so much.. I was given a code by direct message ?

Droid Dev Challenge 1: Cupcake Widget

I have been debating creating this thread because I do not want it to be seen as spam. It is not meant as spam, and I am not doing it for profit.
I have started a challenge very much like the androidandme.com Android Bounty contests. I want to get developers to start working on widgets, so I am hosting a donation pot for the reward. The contest is called Droid Dev Challenge 1: Cupcake Widget (yes, I know I suck at naming things). Please take a look at the full information here: http://android-dls.com/droid-dev-challenge.html
I do not want to quote that post because that post will probably change or even move.
If you are a developer, take a look and consider joining in to try and win the reward. If you are a user, consider a small donation of $5 or so to go to the winner of the contest. If this goes well, we will see lots of great new widgets just in time for the official Cupcake release (sometime in 2018 I believe). As is stated in the topic, none of the donations go to me or my site. Minus standard paypal deductions, the whole amount goes to the winning developer.
Also if you have any ideas on what I can add to the contest to make it more enticing please feel free to pm me here, or reply to this post.
***EDIT***
If you are unable to help the contest in any way because you cannot donate or because you do not know how to write a widget (/me raises his hand), you can still help by spreading the word. If you are a Digg.com user, please digg this story here. Any extra exposure the contest gets helps the chances of more developers entering in.
I wouldn't mind donating aside from the fact that the widget's will probably cost on the market. Not much into paying for things twice. But if enough developers get on board sure i'll chip in if it drives a better product.
|Spike|
I kinda agree, but this is more of a contest than it is purchasing the widget. This will hopefully spark more interest in widgets which will make lots more competition and hopefully better widgets in teh long run. I am gonna try to put $20 into it, although I would NEVER pay that much for an app. Depends on if I can steal $20 from myself (yes, im married, I have to steal from myself to have spending cash).
Donated! I cant wait to see what happens! And I have some personal experience with this kinda of stuff from running the dream theme contest so if you need any help let me know.
I would donate as long as the devs who participate make their entries free downloads for donators... After all the donators will have paid them already!
They could provide screen shots for non-donators/non-voters to drive interest in purchases.
And the contest coordinator could email the donators the link with the downloads that would only be up for a limited time.
OK - so, it seems we have at least five competitors! I'm in and plan on donating $20.00.
NOTE: Persons wishing to donate may select the link regarding the contest at the bottom of Darkrift's signature (which I duplicated at the bottom of my signature)
Darkrift - you might suggest to the competitors that they put a link to the competition to generate more interest/notice!
BrandenK I might bug you some day about a few things since I am a bit new to this.
shaneaus, I was thinking about that, but it doesnt work out as well. If the widgets are paid and go on the market, you could get a free copy but then updates would not be available in teh market. For that reason I paid for BarTor when the author offered me a free copy for helping beta test. It was a couple of dollars I could have saved, but market updates were worth it to me. I can put in a rule that all donators who donate $5 or more will get a copy and see how that goes.
Thanks to all who have donated, we are up to $30 within the first 30 hours. Not a bad start.
Developers, we still need some contestants to sign up and try to win the pot (you do not have to wait for the pot to grow to sign up, the end date is not going to be until at LEAST 10 days after the 1.5 SDK is officially released, and maybe later)
If anyone knows any Android developers, or frequents developer sites, please let them know about this contest. The more devs participating, the better the competition, and the better the final product will be. I am trying to get ahold of as many devs as I know, but most do not have contact info publically available. I will try to email widget devs from the market tonight.
Ilm up for entering the contest; got a few widget ideas =]
Great! Cant wait to see them

Id really like to see some more widgets, is there other widgets out yet or in development to follow? I'd really like to see a twitter widget, gtalk widget, friendfeed widget...
Found another:
http://code.google.com/p/wiktionary-android/
Example code showing how to create a home screen widget with the AppWidget framework in Android. Shows the Wiktionary "Word of the day" in a widget, and updates daily with a new word.
Here is an introduction on making widgets:
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2009/04/introducing-home-screen-widgets-and.html
What I would love to see come from this comp
I'm requesting that a Dev make the following for the competition:
I saw a weather widget/app on some other phone (don't remember which).
When it was sunny the widget was a blazing sun (really nice looking with a flaming/moving effect to the sun) - really looked like it was actively blazing.
When it was raining there were water droplets splashing on the screen. It had a windshield wiper that ran and swiped the droplets off.
When it was cloudy there were puffy clouds floating across the screen.
When there was a thunderstorm the clouds were dark, it was raining, the windshield wiper was running, and there were occasional lightning strikes (I think there were only about five different ones - but, they rotated through those five and they were occasional - like every five-10 seconds). It was freaking AWESOME!
It was the most impressive thing I have seen on a phone. There was a switch button that would stop the animation and just leave a small icon on the desktop (the button could be a setting in the icon or for Android it could be placed in the Notification Bar) .
The icon had great graphics - the sun, cloud, and storm cloud had the temp in contrasting numbers in the center.
OK, OK... So, the app didn't do all of the above... But, the rain and the sun were there! LOL I would pay well for an app like that!
DANG I wish I was a dev or had the time to learn!
I think you are talking about the M2D home screen I had on my Hermes.
And I would love to help if anyone needs it. Im not very familiar with this part of the Android OS so I would love to learn.
yea there definately needs to be a pretty weather widget like the htc diamond:
http://member.america.htc.com/downl...duct_Video_Gellary/HeroShot_spin-horz_WMV.zip
actually the home screen animation/effects are killer on that phone, its the only phone worth looking at other than a g1, would be nice if it was android and not windows mobile, that is why I dont be switching
@brandenk - I think that was it. The UI looks similar to what I saw. Do you have the windshield wiper? LOL
I was envisioning something similar... But, more of a layer across most of the screen for the drifting clouds/storm clouds/rain and realistic looking lightning. One could turn that layer effect off and have a smaller/simpler icon (more of a traditional widget style) or turn the effects back on.
I'm sure it is do-able. After all SweeterHome has layers of imaging/controls.
Also, SweeterHome has special trays for Contacts, Calendar, Text Messaging and Call Log - like a widget - but customizable. That along with their Springboards make it freaking awesome. When SweeterHome supports widgets I will scream for joy! (Jump for joy was just to mundane and wouldn't explain my excitement!)
I can just see the animated weather on my phone now! I would work with someone on designing the graphics. I'm just not up on the programing end of things.
Sorry to highjack this thread! But, just wanted to give an idea to any dev that would enter the competition. The theme competition was great.
Just need to get some devs interested! If more than 10 will sign up I'll donate $20.00 again!
Hmm if I could think of a widget other than weather(thought of phonefusion checker but I've been having enough problems with a music player I've been writing to know that's just not feasible for me... plus I don't want to deal with copyright problems, etc) since that's already being worked on I'd be all in for this. *thinks really hard*
some ideas for devs...
-Favorite sports team(s) scores - updated once everyday or manually
-Favorite Stock info - updated every 4 hrs or manually
-cnn or google news
-horoscope- if youre into that sorda thing
and one that i think would be especially hard but awesome:
a widget that uses the gps, basically a screen a tad bit bigger than the frame widget, inside of it will be where you currently are displaying the blue dot from maps. it could have a play/pause button so you are not constantly using gps and if you press the widget it opens google maps.
Ideas for widgets...
RSS - automatically displays/scrolls feeds, click on the feed of your choice to open the default browser to the selected feed.
Weather - as mentioned above or otherwise
Modified Google search widgets.
Wiki widget
Tweeter/Twidroid widget
IM widget - keeps one logged in and displays incoming messages - single click to respond. Once one responds the window closes and goes back to homescreen with widget displayed.
Gmail widget - shows subject/first few lines of incoming email - select if one wishes to respond to open up the app.
Calendar widget - better than stock one!
Clock widgets - The current ones are Boring - unless you take into account the ones developed by the Theme Devs! It would be cool is someone could just create a clock widget in which users could enter download different clocks to put into the widget. Then we could mix and match!
@Seenochino - Sports news - good for sports fans. Don't know how one would make it team specific? I'm not into sports. But, that was a good idea.
Picture frame that works like an LCD picture frame in the house. Does a slideshow with user selectable transition effects (fade/slide/etc). Could be set to run only when the phone is not in sleep mode.
MySpace - monitors posts onto a MySpace page, can stream music from page, etc. Or,
FaceBook - same idea.
That widget that is on my Google page that monitors updates to The Dudes OS files. Whatever that is would be nice!
PR0N widget!!!
how about a pet widget where you can feed and pet a dog? You could even do more like send it to another person with a g1 and it shows on there home screen

I'm making this thread coz i'm from france and so i don't have access to US comments and some of you reports me there's some troubles like the earth spinning the wrong way.
To stop polluate the "Live wallpapers" thread of the forum, i decided to open this one dedicated to this wallpaper.
Feel free to post any comments or wishes in here.
If you like my work, feel free to offer me a beer
or contribute
I want to mention the site where i grab all the maps :
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/
and the one where i grab the realtime map :
http://www.die.net/earth/
Thanks to them !!
updated to market on 2010-02-21
-Deathstar2
-lots of bugfixes
-Customizable random map list
-Deathstar1 (also orbiting as moon around endor)
-No more loading texture in realtime map (except 1st time)
-offset planet position
-orbiting moon around earth
-crashed cached textures autofix to avoid sticky loading textures and need to remove earthrot folder by hand
-still looking for a proper way to wakeup service after the system killed it for memory, some tests in this version.
v1.2 is out:
-Fix of the realtime cloudmap+daylightmap. Be carefull with the refresh rate as each update consume around 70KB of datas
-kind of matrix effect on screen sliding where icons and background scroll the opposite way
-add an option for spinning around natural earth axis.
-maps of endor and tatooine (still looking for a decent deathstar and coruscent ones)
Features in dev :
-engine rewriting in native code linked to GLES2.0 lib + GLSL shaders for rotation
-lens flare effect
Some bitmap of stars would be nice. Maybe an option where the earth moves and the stars move at a different speed if possible.
edit: Being that this uses the GPU and not the CPU, is there less power consumption? Just curious.
i have no idea of the impact on consumption !!
i know that almost everything is sleeping when the screen is off or the globe isn't visible, but i can't tell you what's happening when you're staring at your screen
It keeps force closing on me.
Got it. Awesome! Can you do different planets?
I second the above poster's request for stars, and planets surrounding. I can only imagine how difficult this type of development is but if you made the wallpaper more of a solar system feel, with the planets spinning I'd pay good money for a wallpaper like that!
Really nice.Like it a lot.Keep up the good work.

The only request I have is for an option to automatically change from daylight to city lights based on the time of the day. Still a nice looking wallpaper.

I second all the suggestion. also please if you can, enlarge the earth size, as on Nexus one it does look small.
thanks
thanks for your feedback guys,
here's the roadmap for future updates :
-ability to grow or shrink the globe
-stars in the background
-automatic switch from daylight to night at fixed time.
-rewrite the engine to use GLSL vertex shader for rotation, and a fragment shader that do live day/night on the globe.
-more maps like europa, ganymede, jupiter, venus etc...
-redo the UVmapping at north pole which is actually crappy.
-TRY to do a complete solar system.

Hi dude
i have other idea for a live wallpaper:
Digital/analog clock with selectable background and weather included
Im not sure if im the only that hates the widgets for clocks
Bye!
good job bro!
I love it so far, but I'd like to add my wishlist:
-Scrolling to the left and right/zoom in and out (once other features are added)
-Twinkling, slightly circling stars in the background
-Moving clouds, twinkling city lights, weather effects on the earth (+100 if you can get it to interact with local weather)
-everything everyone else asked for
Bravo! Tres bonne App!
It's a very nice app! Can we have some background of stars, satelites, spaceships, international space station or something else as an option (to change from plain black)
Could we have the app switching from day to night with the clock
Could we have a size selector for the planet?
Great job anyway!
This wallpaper is SWEET!
I have one request a DONATE option!
This app is great and to continue the hard work some of us will donate.
Better yet add a meteor shower&if you reallly wanna make it flashy show asteroids impacting earth

[APP][Updated] Fleya v2.9.8 - realtime fluid dynamics for Android

Fleya is a FREE realtime fluid simulation for your Android phone.
But you don't have to be a physics specialist or an engineer to enjoy it.
Just swipe your finger across the screen to see why.
You can find it in the Android Market as "Fleya", or scan the QR code at the bottom of this post.
The app is also available on SlideMe and YAAM.
Main features:
Awesome fluid engine
Sensitive to accelerometer
Multi-touch (the code can interpret 20 fingers on the screen but it depends on the hardware capabilities of your phone)
Save images to SD, instantly available in image gallery
Option to choose simulation resolution and accuracy (higher settings mean slower simulation though)
Ability to choose your own colors as well as built in color presets
Tech notes:
The fluid engine is written in native code. It's probably the fastest engine currently on the market (please correct me if I'm wrong). A lot of work went into optimizations and now it's about 20 to 30 times faster than it used to be (I started with the theoretical code).
The concept is this:
Your screen turns into a box of 2D "smoke". You inject fluid with your fingers and when your fingers move, the fluid gets agitated. The fluid is colored according to it's temperature and you can choose 5 colors for the temperature scale gradient.
Temperature also influences the fluid when combined with the accelerometer through the Gravity setting. Hot fluids go up, cold fluids go down.
There are 3 fluid presets that ignore temperature and are colored according to density (Smoke, Ink and Cloud). The difference is in the interaction with the accelerometer. They are not pushed up or down according to the static orientation of the phone. They only react to sudden changes in orientation when the gravity setting is turned up.
Feedback:
I have a ton of other features fighting for attention in my head but very little time to implement them. I try my best but your suggestions would really help prioritize them.
For any comments, suggestions or questions, please leave a comment or send an email.
With your help, the best is yet to come.

This app is totally free and I would like to keep it that way, so please don't complain about the ads. I have made them as unobrusive as possible and they use very little bandwidth.
You see, I have this dream where I could use all my time to build cool free apps and still be able to eat. I implemented ads as a means for you to show your appreciation at no cost.
If you like my work and would like to see more interesting apps support me with good comments and high in the market and recommending the app to your friends or in blogs, tweets and forums.
If you really really like it, donate either here on XDA or on the official site.
If you don't like it, that's just as fine as you can either ignore it or comment and help me improve my work.

Great looking!!!
For someone like me who has a love of physics & engineering, it's great!
Thank you.
This is really neat! Is there any possibility of integrating this into a live wallpaper? That would be bad ass! It could function the same as now with touch. I know there are live wallpapers like Plasma and such but they're constantly moving and don't react to touch or look as great as this.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
5 stars for you! Would make for an awesome live wallpaper.
Would also be cool if the ones like "hot and cold" had 2 point multitouch going on.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Very cool.
Great App!
Great App! For some reason, its addicting. lol. One of those apps where there will always be a situation that pops up where Fleya would be useful, for us math and science nerds. Thanks for the post!
5 stars!
Would be awesome for this to be a live wallpaper.
Would also be cool if the ones like "hot and cold" had 2 point multitouch going on also.
pretty cool, after a few minutes I tried using two point touch... would probably make it significantly more intensive to program.
thanks for making it, puts a grin on my face
pretty darn kewl.
A few things that might be really kewl.
Multi touch.
More colors.
Random color wheel.
Thanks for the great replies
Wow, quick replies. Thank you all for the promptness and great ratings.
Everything you just said has been considered and will most probably be implemented. Let's take it feature by feature and see when.
Multitouch
This was a feature that was planned from the beginning but I wanted to target Android 1.6 too so no multitouch there. So I decided to build the app with all the rest of the features that I had planned, make it into a working and fun app and then migrate to Android 2.1+. I know I could have made it run on both but I didn't want to sacrifice any more processing power for it from the start. My thinking was...make it run as fast as you can then add features.
I'll be making multitouch my first priority since I've seen a lot of people say why can't I use more fingers?
I'm still unsure if it will be limited to 2 point touch or as many as the phone supports.
Color Wheel
This has most definitely been considered. In fact, the first stable version I uploaded to my phone supported 16 million colors. It simulated 3 fluid densities, the Red, the Green and the Blue so it supported practically any color. It actually started with a picture of my girlfriend and I could drag her nose over her head and see it swirl around, mixing all the colors Of course, by the time it started to swirl, the image was too liquefied to even look like a face.
Anyway, back then(4 weeks ago) Fleya was "incredibly fast". I got one frame every 2 or 3 seconds so I started to optimize code and cut stuff out. One thing I cut along the way was the 3 color channels, now it's only one fluid being simulated as a temperature channel and the colors are all picked from palettes.
You may have noticed that Hot and Cold (read red and blue) never mix into purple, they always go through black. That's because black is the color for the medium temperature. And another thing, if they did mix into purple, the swirls that formed would not be so well defined and would probably not get that "silk sheets" look if left untouched for a while.
But I'm not dismissing the idea; it will be implemented. Unfortunately it will have an impact on performance but I'll do my best to minimize it.
More color palettes
This is the easiest one of all from a tech point of view so it's a certainty that things will improve...I'll be updating the current palettes and adding new ones with each update, concentrating on making them look best. This is also a place where outside ideas are very very welcome.
Live wallpaper
While developing the first draft of Fleya, I had completely forgot about live wallpapers on Android. The code is written to support Android 1.6 so, by default the methods used for live wallpapers weren't even visible. It hit me in the head 2 seconds after publishing Fleya to the market. It instantly hit me harder on the other side of my head that a live wallpaper that is CPU intensive will be frowned upon by most users. I'll be building a live wallpaper version but not right now. I'll be releasing some updates to Fleya first, implement some of these features and then I'll definitely be painting your homescreen in swirls.
Again, thank you all. It makes a BIG difference to know my work is enjoyed by others.
Great, another Romanian developer. I will install it right away Thank you
It runs too slow on my aria, anyway you can fix that? Otherwise I love it xD
Try a lower resolution setting from Menu/Options.
Unfortunately, there are very few things I can do to make it run faster. Even if I do them, you may not even feel any difference.
On high resolutions it's running slowly on my HTC Magic too, but I left the option for higher resolutions because of higher end devices that can handle it.
amazing ! a live wallpaper will be much appreciated ! very addictive app
Loving this, great show-off tool
Thanks

Will try it now. Looks very nice. Thanks mate!
runs very nice on galaxy tab at 2 settings from full resolution, anything more and its really laggy
reminds me of plasma pong.

Triple Town Editor is a highly intuitive, game-like UI for managing Triple Town in-game resources (turns, coins, items) and is also coming with an amazing feature: lets you unleash the architect inside you to arrange the town as you desire!
Oh, wait, you’re new to Triple Town?
Triple Town is a multi-million-downloads, Google Play Editors' Choice, year-2011-awarded puzzle game created by Spry Fox LLC – a game in which you try to grow a great city!
The game’s so good that you can’t stop playing, which eventually depletes the turns you can use to place new stuff in your city. "Fortunately", this frustrating setback can be solved with simple in-app purchase(s).
Or, if you’re on a rooted device, you can change the preferences file the game is using to store the game state data and you can easily replenish the turns (and other resources) yourself.
Well, you can do it like that – old-school, VIM-way – or you can do it with few taps and in style.
Cue Triple Town Editor, app that helps Android smartphone owners with root permissions easily change the saved game state of their Triple Town.
Just watch it in action and decide for yourself:
As you’ve seen, with Triple Town Editor you don’t have to worry with fiddling through a text editor. The game values already accessible to you are easily updated with few taps through the apps intuitive UI.
Even though Triple Town Editor is just acting as a "visual editor" for the root user who can do everything the app does with just a simple text editor, this doesn't mean that the convenience the app brings should in any way derail you from your path of supporting the development of the Triple Town game by means of their in-app payments, should you choose to do so.

YOUR FEEDBACK IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
A few more notes...
! Requires ROOT !
The app won't work if the device is not rooted or if you don't give app the root permissions.
! Requires Triple Town !
Won't work without Triple Town installed and at least once played past the in-game tutorial.
! This is a PREVIEW version !
Although the delivered functionality is completely operational (and all its circuits are functioning perfectly ) and successfully tested on several devices, you can expect:
not fully polished UI,
(non-optional) feedback forms,
anonymous usage collecting,
that any changes done in Town Planner feature (see description below) won't be saved,
English localization only,
known supported Triple Town versions: 1.21, 1.34, 1.58, 1.61
Known limitations:
Triple Town Editor is not compatible with Triple Town version 1.74 (currently newest) --> don't update Triple Town past v1.61! (for now)
Town Planner: what's on stash is not displayed + can't place anything there --> will be fixed
Town Planner: currently supported maps: only Standard --> will be fixed
Town Planner: drag-and-drop is not supported on Gingerbread and older Android versions (pre API11), but there's a "touch-touch" replacement interface,
Town Planner: the feature is available as preview-only, which means any changes made to Triple Town layout will NOT be saved. In release version, it will be possible to unlock the full functionality of the Town Planner.

Great
Thanks great app, just what I needed.
Tested on Galaxy S i9000 (CM 10).
tablet-friendly
First time I installed Triple Town I was glued to the screen -- the gameplay just captured me! I have played for hours until I realized I was out of turns
Then I went "What? I have to wait like a day or pay to fill my turns immediately to get my fix?" :crying:
Well, I haven’t played Triple Town for a long time, but now there's no stopping me!
Thanks for the app!! :good:
btw. Works and looks great on Google Nexus 7 ^^

As you probably know, it's just not possible to test an app on all available devices, so emulators take their turns instead. That's why this kind of feedback is invaluable for us. Thanks!
Keep it coming
Is this not similar to piracy? You are effectively allowing people to play a paid game for free... This shouldn't be allowed on XDA.
0.9.2 released
New version (0.9.2) with minor bugfixes is uploaded to Play Store.
(hint: from now on, you can watch the second post for version changes)
Thanks for reporting the issues!
I "tested" the app a bit more and there are no bugs so far (which is a great thing for a preview version imo), though one thing's been nagging me and I must ask -- how come there's no save button?

Anecdotally, we had the save button in our initial version of the app, but one of our other aps (m-parking) got a spotlight in The App Clinic (video link) and in the very first episode of Android Design in Action (video link) and based on those feedbacks we decided to better comply to (newest) platform design guidelines and to handle Save like this:
- back saves changes
- up saves changes
- additional "discard changes" action menu item
This should be the way how all non-terminal and non-world-affecting changes are persisted.
A nice and welcome addition is what Gmail does --> offering an Undo operation in form of a toast-like notification afterwards.
Hope this answers your question

Although, there's much text so it can be easily missed.
Unfortunately, to my extent of Android platform knowledge, drag&drop is not possible for pre-HoneyComb devices.
Invitation to developers: if I'm wrong, I'd be glad to stand corrected, so freely propose how can dnd behavior be implemented on pre-API11.
thanks for the hint
it would be great to use that...
First off, love the look of the app and that it's like you're almost in Triple Town.
Secondly, (which is actually more important) I could not break the app! That's the thing I do with apps
This one just didn't give in, but I won't stop trying
Lastly, when will the preview period end? I'd really like to be able to move stuff around in the town. Like, sometimes one undo is just not enough :crying: So, when'll this Town Planner be really available??
Thumbs up, keep up the good work! :good:

Well, the current plan is to get as much feedback as possible in these two aspects:
- direction our new users would like for the app to go (i.e. should we focus on extending map support, or Town Planner cool features like social sharing, or something other),
- errors and shortcomings that need ironing out.
When we get enough data, let's say after a month has passed or app is installed by 2K+ users, we'll be able to decide about the focus for the release version (and if and how will the Town Planner feature be included).
Hope that answers your question.

Is there a possibility to get some kind of a "history" or "backup" feature implemented?

Hello!
I would like to present you Game "Power/Lift VR"
Its mobile virtual reality game for Android, where your only job is... Insert fuses in boxes, and find your wait out... and all that in yet, another dark, industrial environment that everyone like so much!
https://youtu.be/6p3cmGZJyNA
_____________
_____________
Warning! Game require VR goggles AND gamepad!
_____________Power/Lift is Virtual Reality game for Android platform created by Marcin Kowalski and Riccardo Di Meo creator of Application "VR Theater for Android".
Game is totally free without any adds. It use Unity Engine and contain handmade assets made especially for that game, and instead of going to colorful and cartoonish atmosphere like most of VR games on market, Power/Lift aim to be more realistic and darker. And even with big performance requirement of devices that use VR, Power/Lift managed to push visual quality to its limits keeping compatibility even with weaker devices.
Overall point of game is to find and switch on all fuse-boxes in the level, then find your way out by looking for last platform that will transport you to next stage. There are a lot of shortcuts on the way out: find them to get the best possible time.
_____________Requirements:
-In order to play Power/lift you need virtual reality goggles(Homido, Cardboard, GearVR or any other)
-Gamepad that have directional buttons and two function buttons(starting from those small bluetooth controllers ending in xbox/Playstation gamepads)
-Android device with MINIMUM fullHD screen and CPU similar or better than Snapdragon 805
-Headphones
_____________
Game is still in development, there is plan to implement Google Play Global Highscore and Achievements, create more levels and add few smaller features.
But for now we need your help to test this game on more devices, see if there is possibility to increase graphic quality without loosing performance(because its VR game it need 2x more power than normal mobile game).
For now game is ""optimized"" to run on slower devices(minimum Snapdragon801) so we had to reduce some graphical aspect of the game(shadows, lights, bump-maps), but if test on newer devices will be satisfying, we will add some options that will bump graphic quality even more to make game more atmospheric and just "prettier".
We would be really happy if every person who download it and test it, would post information like: model of phone, any bugs he encounter, and of course how fluid game is(like: its lag on level 2 here and here).
As I mentioned Power/Lift is game made totally for free in our free time. We cant afford any fancy addons right now, so we need to make everything by our self, including testing, but because of limited access to devices, you could help us with that just by playing it and leaving opinion/information about Game!

Thanks for checking!
As for Youtube video content, I dont have much experience with making good game trailers so I though it would be just better to make more "realistic" just by saying the funny truth about mobile VR
As for Quality, YouTube sadly messed up gamma and quality, so some parts are to bright :/
If you have any suggestions, or bugs you found feel free to post them. Its first release, so we expecting that it will contain some problems.
Anyone who use GearVR.
I would be grateful for checking how game work with those goggles.
Just small update that Power/Lift goes through some major changes, including changing name, graphic style, game mode(VR will be on/off option), and most important it will be less confusing as it is now(more obvious gameplay, and simplified level design).
If anyone have any suggestions feel free to write them!
It will take some time(even months) but taking in to the account that its FREE game without any ads, and its made just by 2 people, I hope it will give people some fun.
Small update for current version of Power/Lift!
Im still work on totally new version of this game, that will have new name, lots of new features and different graphic style and gameplay,
but in the meantime me and Riccardo wanted to publish small update for current Power/Lift Game that will fix few things. It still lacking some features(like global highscore, or proper pause menu...) but it should fix bugs, make it faster and help new players understand what to do...
Work on new version are going slow, so its hard to tell when I release it, so before that happen we will try to update Power/Lift when we find free time, and add features that we wanted...
So here are small changelog:
-New icon that dont look so "oldschool"(read: android 2.3 era)
-First level now have tutorial voice, arrows and signs that will explain player what he should do in game.
-Simple highscore menu that show your best time on each level.
-New tweaked shadowmaps that should have less light bugs.
-Some small changes in models and occlusion that should give some small performance boost.
-Removed rotating camera in Main Menu(so people will stop thinking that their phone gyroscope is bugged)
-Falling death is now shorter(3sec instead of 5sec) so if you fall down you will not loose so much time waiting for respawn.
-Other smaller fixes that no one saw and no one will see :]

New Update!
I found some free time to put together new update, that contain few new features, and few fixes, and few more bugs, and few more lags...
But going to the point, here is small changelog for version 0.6
-New menu style. You just need to move joystick to quickly select option
-Pause Menu. Yes, finally I managed to put that super innovative option in game!
-New Level 5. Just to give you another reason to play it...
-Graphic settings. Low that lower texture resolution and filtering, default, and High, that enable Anti Aliasing and force filtering.
-Some new Shaders for particles & transparency(should fix lags in some places...)
Now about Pause menu. Sadly every joystick I tested have different input number, so in some cases you could end up having pause button assigned to weird key...
As I said before game is free and made in free time, so for me, person with mediocre experience with coding, its damn hard to make such simple thing like option to manually assign keys by player, and because its free game, I dont want to spend money on special unity asset that would make that automatically by detecting controller player use...
I probably fix that in next release, but it will take some time... just like global high-score... sorry about that... no one is perfect :]
