Rooted Galaxy S6 (Sprint Variant SM-G920P) bricked after overnight charge - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So basically, I fell asleep and left my phone charging and when I woke up, the green full charge light was on but nothing made the phone turn on. I tried holding the power button for 30 secs, holding the power and volume down button for awhile, and basically all sorts of button configurations but nothing seems to work. The light stayed on for a couple hours until I'm assuming the phone died. I spoke to a samsung employee and after I told him about the root, he said that the samsung had some kind of ota update that kinda bricks a rooted phone and that I'm basically screwed. Im not sure if that was just him being a samsung employee or not, but either way I'm sure it has something to do with it. Is there any way I can completely reset the firmware in it so I can at least use it again? I plugged it into my wall charger and computer with absolutely no sign of life. This seems like a very hard brick that most likely is the end for the phone, but before i go spend 200 dollars on a phone upgrade, is there anyway for me to get the phone working? Or on? Any help or advice is appreciated, thank you.

[Q] Samsung Nexus SCH151 -- Desperately Need Advice

Hello Everyone,
I'd be eternally grateful for any technical advice and wisdom anyone that can help with my issue! I have a previously rooted phone that I have to return for a warranty, but the bootloader is unlocked and I can't lock it again.
Here is the problem, my phone completely shuts off about 10 seconds after the screen turns off. It's a full shut down, not just the screen not turning back on.
Some other symptoms:
My phone won't power on while it's plugged into the wall outlet. I have to remove it from the charger for it to turn on. But it will charge while the phone is ON and I plug it into the wall outlet afterwards.
My phone will automatically shut off when I plug it into any USB cable connected to a computer that's on (however, it doesn't automatically shut off if I plug it into the wall charger while it's on)
When I press power and volume down for ODIN or volume up + volume down for the bootloader screen, both screens will only show up briefly, then the phone will immediately shut down. I can't access either menus.
I have tried swapping out my battery with my wife's, and it does the same thing. Her phone works perfectly fine with my battery, mine doesn't work with either. (We have the same phone).
I rooted my phone a little less than a year. It became unrooted quite a while back when I accidentally ran a stock update. I never messed with it since. I'm EXTREMELY rusty with rooting and custom firmware and flashing, etc., so I apologize in advance.
I'm terrified because I'm sending out my phone under that Samsung warranty because all of my tech sense tells me there's a hardware issue going on; it's not my fault. However, aren't they going to see the big "Unlock" icon under the google logo when they get my phone, and immediately say I have a voided warranty? The representative said they'd charge me $300 if they phone was "damaged".
I almost wish my phone were a complete brick and wouldn't turn on at all. But at this point without access to a bootloader menu and my phone being unrooted and not able to work with it on my computer, I'm not sure what I can do.
It's already restored completely to factory defaults through the android interface. But that "unlock" icon is still there when it boots.
Anyone have any advice for me at all? Again, if my terminology is off or I'm not being clear in some way, I apologize. Let me know and I'll clarify and/or give any more information required.
I have about three days to figure this out before the prepaid shipping box and my new phone gets here.
Thanks so much in advance.
Sincerely,
Darkencypher
Just for clarification, its the Samsung Galaxy Nexus SCH-I515.
Thanks

Last chance
As I'm running short on time before my new phone gets here, I figured I'd give it another shot at seeing if anyone out there knows how to help me.
I'm nervous that the "unlock" logo that appears below the Google logo when I boot my samsung galaxy nexus means that my warranty is void. I was able to restore it back to factory defaults, but I can't remove that "unlocked" icon because the phone is so severely disabled in its current state do to some hardware problem that keeps it shutting off.
I'd settle for anyone even knowing how to turn my phone into a paperweight at this point. I'd rather it not turn on at all when they get it lest they see I've unlocked my phone and void my warranty even though I'm certain I have a hardware problem due to manufacturer defect.
Also, on a side note if anyone reads this and knows a little bit more about troubleshooting phones based on symptoms: I downloaded a program called Wake Lock and set it to keep the CPU running in the background even when the screen is off. It doesn't appear to shut off anymore when the screen turns off.
Thanks again,
Darkencypher

[Q] Dead S3?

Hi all,
I went to take my break at work, phone in hand, working, put it in my pocket. Signed out, proceeded to the elevators to go downstairs, take it back out and no response. Okay. Fine. Hold power...nothing. Pop the battery out for 30ish seconds, back in, case on...power...still nothing. Get to my car thinking maybe it died even though it had 50% left to the battery. Plug it into my car mount and the LED doesn't light up. I work minutes away from a Verizon store so I decide to stop by. I explain to the rep what was going on, he plugs it in and nothing. He tries a different battery and nothing. We both tried vol up + power + home and nothing.
I have not rooted my phone, and the only thing I did recently was factory reset it over the weekend just to give it a "fresh start."
After I got home not too long ago, plugged the phone in using the cable I usually take with me (just happened to leave it home today of course) and no response from the phone. However, if I remove the back cover and take the battery out the LED light DOES come on if I plug the phone in again for several minutes and then it goes out.
From what I've read here and elsewhere there was something about a bad EMMC chip that caused phones to just suddenly die, could this possibly be it?
Thanks.
Sounds like a hard brick to me. Try this

If ur not rooted wat so ever then jst get a warranty replacement
If you don't have the ability to software flash it or if you honestly think its a hardware issue you could try getting a warranty replacement through your carrier as suggested or if you'd like to keep your phone and not get a refurb and are willing to wait a couple weeks, you could always send it to Samsung for warranty repair.
Feel free to pm me if you wanna troubleshoot

Phone shut itself off....

I took a nap today, and my phone had 60 percent. No background processes going or anything but the phone shut itself off anyways. Refused to turn back on or register that it was being charged when I plugged it in. I had to hold both volumes and the power button to hard reset it in to recovery (which is stock) to get it to power back on. Is there a fix for this or should I take the phone back and try something else? I haven't even had it a full 24 hours yet.
Something almost exactly like this happened with my HTC One X, after restarting it got stuck on boot... Eventually it would just show a charging light sometimes. Had to get the motherboard replaced.
On the other hand I have heard a bad battery can cause similar problems.
Just get it replaced, better safe than sorry.
Yea I just left the verizon. They pronounced my phone DOA. So they're giving me a brand new in box replacement but I have to drive to the only location in Colorado that has any white ones in Stock lol.

Help with galaxy s7

I posted this on the tmobile site but can't seem to get an answer. I have no idea what to do.
So I've had my phone on for at least 7 days. A notification from Samsung's plus app told me to reboot it because blah blah it helps or something.
So I turned it off.
Now it wont turn back on. Tired holding power plus volume down. Tried booting into recovery. Don't have a Windows PC irght now to plug into and try things , but will install windows on a mac via bootcamp.
When I plug it into any charger. Nothing.
When I set it atop a wireless charger. The wireless charger detects it, meaning it lights up. But the phone itself doesn't give any LED notification.
Phone gets warm while on wireless charging pad also. So it may be charging.
What is going on? Any advice?
Plug it into a charger, hold the vol down and power button for like 30 seconds then the screen should turn on saying its charging, then just power it it on.
Nothing. It gets warm when charging. But nothing.
Am I pressing it wrong maybe?
Strange that usually worked for me when i couldn't turn on my phone normally, can you get into download mode? Vol up + home + power.
Well this sucks i can't turn my phone on now, the battery was depleting somewhat rapidly so i rebooted the phone, once it got to the unlock screen it froze. Now no matter what i try i can't get it to turn on.
Today it managed to start charging, but when I turn it on when it's charging the screen freezes into a garbled mess, without charging it manages to boot.

Same charging from PC?
Tried a different cable?
I have a Lumia 535 that messes up touch if I use my Sammy charger, same if I use my Raspberry Pi charger on my Windows tablet, the touch screen goes mental
Try a different charger / USB lead
I used various cables/chargers so that wasn't it. I went to a Samsung repair center and they suggested that... I have too many apps installed and that's causing the issue? Oooooook, granted this was just a rep and not someone doing the actual repairs.
Again my battery was low and I decided to reboot it and I can't start it again, very strange. If I get it working again it seems easy to duplicate if I goto Samsung again.
Called my credit card company and they have extended warranty on all purchases so i'm safe, the samsung store suggested to bring it in if happens again and they'll extend my warranty 3 months too.

Too many apps installed... how do these guys get the job in the first place, even as a rep?
It does sound hardware related, I'd probably use your 3 months ext warranty before it expires and the S7 finally commits suicide
Don't think knowledge is a requirement for these types of jobs, phone died again after a reboot and I can't start it anymore, going to the repair center after work.
It would seem not
Hopefully you get someone with at least some knowledge to help this time, likely you'll be needing a new motherboard / phone, unless it's something a bit less drastic like a dodge USB port
I thought it would be the usb port too but i tried using my wireless charger and the light on the charger was on meaning it was charging but it still wouldn't power up, i had it plugged in the whole day today and its completely dead.
Anyway it seems samsung warranty goes by build date + 1 year + 3 months leeway, unless you give them a receipt and then its just one year, so mine was built in feb 2016 so it has warranty till the end of may without a receipt.
Ah well, I suppose at least you get a new phone / board out of it, even thought it's a PITA RMAing your phone
Mine was manufactured 2016.08.16, just two weeks before I got it, so I guess that means November this year without a receipt, but pretty sure I still have the receipt anyway
They replaced the board and all is well now, first time any of my phones failed like this, and it had to be the pricey one.
They did it there and then for you? Was expecting a few days at least, nice job
Yea I've not had any failed phones to date either, hopefully not this one either
I dropped it off at 4 yesterday and it was ready by 7, i was a bit surprised by the speed too, seems they got all the parts in stock.
Can't complain about that service, makes you wonder if they have them in stock and can replace them in such a short time for a reason though... hope it's not a common fault

No LED indicator, black screen no haptic feedback, is my phone dead?

I woke up this morning to shut off the alarm on my phone (Oneplus6), then dozed off.
Woke up a few hours later and realized the phone screen is black and refuses to turn on. I put plugged in my charger, no-led indicator. My first thought was, did I kill the battery ? Then I remembered my phone was charged to near 40% before I went to sleep and I haven't let my phone battery die on this phone **ever**.
So I tried the power + volume button trick. No bueno.
Now the phone is plugged in. I have a charger that seems to indicate the phone is drawing power so the battery is being charged, even without any LED indicator (which usually displays red or green). So my thinking is that the phone is completely dead.
And to give some background, this phone has never been dropped, it has been kept in a dry environment all the time. It still has the originality of the HTC case and the IMEI sticker on the back... This phone was pampered like a baby, and today I woke up feeling like crap when I saw this.
Great Thanksgiving gift OnePlus!
Today being 11/22/2018, this phone is dead exactly 6 months after Oneplus released it (it was released on May 22, 2018).
I have so much data on this phone that I feel gutted that this happened.
I know this looks like a clear case of RMA/exchange, but just so that I can exhaust other possibilities, can anything think of something that I can do to potentially revive this phone simply to salvage my information before RMAing the device?
Have you tried the QCOMM loader method for fixing bricked devices?

Not sure what you're inferring here. My phone was not rooted, not bootloader unlocked as is required for workplace apps to function.
I can't turn on the phone by any means but when I plugged the phone to my laptop, it does show:
"Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4)"
What can I do from here on? Is it possible i can get access to the device through the laptop and atleast attempt to salvage some of my data before I ship off the phone?
Thanks.

There's a guide right here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3796051/
After countless attempts, it seems that this does not work. As I said, there is no indication of either charging or that the screen will ever come on. The power button is unyielding as well. Most phones respond to the touch of the power button bring held down either via some haptic feedback or via sound even if the screen does not. In my case none of these apply.
This is going back via RMA.
I've rooted phones before, installed third party roms, on other devices. On this phone, i did neither because there was no need. To this date, I have never had a phone die on me this early in my ownership.

just hold down the power button for 10 secs and watch it at least power on.
I'm not sure how much more clear I can be. The phone does not power on no matter how long I hold the power button down. Nor does it turn on when I hold the power button down in combination with the volume up or down buttons.
Contact your reseller or OnePlus customer service.
As long as you haven't unlocked your bootloader you have the right for a new phone or at least customer support.
