I took a nap today, and my phone had 60 percent. No background processes going or anything but the phone shut itself off anyways. Refused to turn back on or register that it was being charged when I plugged it in. I had to hold both volumes and the power button to hard reset it in to recovery (which is stock) to get it to power back on. Is there a fix for this or should I take the phone back and try something else? I haven't even had it a full 24 hours yet.
Something almost exactly like this happened with my HTC One X, after restarting it got stuck on boot... Eventually it would just show a charging light sometimes. Had to get the motherboard replaced.
On the other hand I have heard a bad battery can cause similar problems.
Just get it replaced, better safe than sorry.
Yea I just left the verizon. They pronounced my phone DOA. So they're giving me a brand new in box replacement but I have to drive to the only location in Colorado that has any white ones in Stock lol.

This morning, I had noticed my G Tablet had been running sluggishly. So I thoight it was just that wakeup bug, but then when I shut it off and tried to restart it, I saw nothing on the screen - at all. I could not even get it into APX mode to see if using nvflash would somehow bring it to life. But I did notoce one thing. When the adapter was plugged in, the charging light would flash red. Is there anything that I can do? I dont want to return it, seeing as theyre in stock virtually nowhere.
My evo does something very similar when it turns off because the battery is 'totally' dead. When I plug it in, the charging light flashes until there is some minimal charge on the battery (maybe enough to turn it on), then the light goes solid and my evo charges normally.
Try plugging it in and just letting it charge, then see what happens.
Have you contact viewsonic support? You have 30. Days replacement warranty
I think it's frozen. I've had the same thing happen to me. If so, then you have two options:
1- Open up the back of the device and hit the reset button on the system board. Yes, there's a button in there for some bizarro reason. I assume this is not really an option for you, but wanted to mention it.
2- Leave the device unplugged and wait for the battery to completely drain (this takes about 24 hours). Once it's drained, plug it back in and hit the power switch and it should start up fine.
When this happens, the long press on the power doesn't seem to fix it. Our device really need a reset button on the outside of the device. Ugh.
Tried the opening thing - It doesn't work. So today I sent it back to Amazon for a refund. You know damn well I'm gonna buy myself another one! I'm mad though, it cost me $399 before, and now it went up to $419.
Sears.com has it for $379.
ETA: A little googling might yield a coupon code.
A few hours ago my girlfriend was just looking at her Triumph (was watching for messages so she wasn't actually doing anything on it) when the screen turned off. Now it wont turn back on. Have tried the power button, turning on the bootloader, and removing the battery for 5 minutes. No matter what we can't get the phone to turn back on. Any ideas on what has just happened? The phone is rooted with gingerbreak with titanium backup installed. That's it. We got the phone at Best Buy and this is our second phone. We're probably past our 30 days so this kind of bugs me! Any idea what we can do from here? Any other tricks to try?
As a quick update, Best Buy tells me that an Exchange counts as an original transaction. So I'm only 17 days into my "new" transaction. I can't believe neither of these Triumphs have lasted more than three weeks :\
Did you have it connected to the charger while using it? I have noticed it gets very hot even without the charger being plugged in. It may have over heated. Just a thought. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

No, the charger wasn't connected at the time. It was just sitting there with the screen on. The Significant Other wonder why it wouldn't turn off so she hit the power button and it didn't do anything. Finally the screen just went black but the backlight was still obviously on so she pulled the battery and put it back in. From there, she pushed the power button and the virgin mobile logo came on and nothing else. She had to remove the battery again. She put the battery back in once more and was able to get the Virgin mobile logo one more time. It froze after the logo and she pulled the battery one more time. After that the phone refused to turn on at all. When connected to the charger it doesn't do anything. Still completely lights out on the phone.
Man that sucks. I hope your able to find a fix.

Same thing happened to me the other day. I let my Triumph lose all its battery to charge it back up 100% (performing a full battery charge cycle), and it will no longer turn on. even when I have it plugged in the red light indicator will not light up most of the time.
Funny thing is, this is also my second exchange from best buy and luckily im still within 30 days and i have a replacement plan. I really suggest getting the replacement plan (its $30, good for a $300 phone), because unlike best buys other mobile protection plans, you dont pay monthly, you're covered for 2 years, and if you get tired of getting the same phone, they will give you a $300 store credit card.
You know my phone did something similar, my phone died and when i went to plug up the charger i got nothing. I think there might be something wrong with the charging ports on these phones, try wiggling the charger while its plugged in, thats what i did and it finally took a charge

upon closer inspection of the charging port, i noticed the female micro usb port was actually pushed further inside, thus preventing most chargers to work. I found a rocketfish charging adapter from best buy that seems to work perfect while my other cable didnt work at all.
As an update, we went back to best buy and sure enough they count the exchange as a new transaction, so I was only 17 days into my second transaction. They exchanged me another phone on the spot and so now we're on the third triumph. GPS checked out ok and the MEID was the correct length. The screen is the worst of the 3 (some pretty bad backlight bleed out onto the screen itself from the sides). I was picky about it but the gf isn't since you can't even see it unless the screen is completely black. So we'll see how this one holds out!
My guess is as was assumed, the battery wasn't getting charged. When the battery was removed for 30 minutes or more we were able to get the logo to show up and nothing more. My guess was the charger wasn't making contact anymore. We wouldn't want to keep a phone like that anyways but it seems like this might be a problem for these phones.
Every once in awhile mine will not power back on. It happened to me a couple of times shortly after I bought the phone.
I tried pulling the battery a couple of times and powering back up, no go.
What worked... remove battery, press power button for a couple of secs, replace battery, power back up. Has worked every time... so far.
My guess is need to drain some capacitors or that I had invoked part of boot recovery sequence without finishing?

Have you noticed the "I just broke my Triumph's Screen"- post? We'll If you saw my cracked Triumph, well that's another issue that I just discovered. The battery drained all the way and now it will not take a charge anymore. This is the exact same problem OP is having. Regarding this issue I will open up my phone sooner or later when I get a new one and take pics. I don't mind seeing wth is in there, maybe everything's held up by Elmer's glue lol. I'll make sure to let everyone know hopefully I'll do this within a couple days.
It seems like dead
If Motorola and VMUSA are not serious about resolving issues for Triumph then this phone will be dead anyways - customers won't be buying those. The number of returns are far more than new purchase. It seems like Motorola stopped manufacturing these.
So this phone will either get Ice Cream Sandwich update or it is end of life for this phone.
So today, as i was on my way to work I accidentally held down the lockscreen button and the power menu popped up (I was on Glorious Overdoes V2) in the middle of a text and i pressed reboot accidentally... My phone never rebooted... It was stuck on the black Sidekick 4G/T-Mobile screen and then it would go black, then once again that screen would pop up... I removed the battery and put it back in, and without me pressing any buttons the same screen came back up... I let it sit for a while and after 20minutes nothing changed except the phone got really hot. Luckily I had my OLD Nokia in my car and popped my SIM card in it so that i could continue having a phone. I let The Sidekick sit for 4hours and it was extremely hot and then eventually it just turned off completely (Im assuming the battery drained, it was at 90% 4 hours before.) I got home, plugged it in and it wouldn't even turn on the charging screen. Somebody told me that my Motherboard is fried but I don't know. I called T-mobile and they're going to send me a new phone since it's still in the 1-year warranty period.
Anyone know if they're going to be able to inspect my old device and find out if i rooted/flashed it? because i can't get into it or anything to ODIN
I feel like they will try putting a new battery in it, and if it still wont turn on you should be fine.
It got hot because the CPU was churning over something and couldn't enter a low power state. I bet you could coax the phone into download mode and reflash it.
what do you mean coax the phone into download mode? by using the button combo to get it into download mode when turning on? I've tried that and it doesn't work. I tried rebooting into recovery and that wont work either. Also, it wont charge the battery anymore...
I've always had a hard time getting into download mode, and my phone works fine. I just spent 5 minutes trying different combinations until I got it.
I've heard people say trackpad-power button, volume down-home-power button, volume up/down-put battery in-plug in USB, etc etc etc. But the only method that works for me is to put in the battery, plug in the USB, wait for the charging screen, then hold volume down-trackpad-power, releasing power as soon as the screen goes black
You say your phone is turning on as soon as the battery is inserted? What if you have it plugged into USB first?
I had the exact same problem, I sent it into samsung and they just replaced a part(never told me which one) and it was fixed. I did noticed that when the sccreen was poped open to show the keyboard, it would stop. But it's probably a loose cable like I've read before.

Worst case scenario if you can't figure it out here on XDA, you could always sell it on eBay for parts as defective.
My myTouch worked for a really long time, even while overclocked. Today, when I was playing a game (Minecraft) it gets much hotter than normal. So I place it on my fan, just a floor fan, to let it cool down. Once it's cooled down, I resume my game. Out of nowhere, it just freezes and shuts off, then restarts, then turns off again once the BIOS splash goes away. It doesn't power on until I press the power button, then it only runs the BIOS splash and shuts off again. I try again, and it powers on to the boot screen, and then it shuts off again shortly after. I try it again, then just BIOS. And yet again, then a successful boot after letting it charge for about 10 minutes. I take a shower and when I come out it works fine, but 10 seconds into use, while I pressed the Bluetooth notification drawer widget button, it freezes and shuts off. From here on, it won't power on at all. I plug it into computer, nothing. All that works is the dim red LED on the trackpad. I press the power button, trackpad light turns on for a few seconds, then off. I press again, turns on for a second then off. When I hold the power button, the light is on and blinks every 10 seconds. No key combos work. Charge light does not come on when plugged in to either computer or wall charger. Any fix for this?
Not a fun situation, very possible your emmc is fried but there is a chance its just the battery. Let it charge overnight and if possible test a new battery
But there is a high likelihood you're going to need a new logicboard
If you're after a new device I do have a few oneplus one invites left...
Best of luck!

I have a very similar problem, i recently came across the mytouch 4g slide in the closet and remembered that it died due to charging overnight, 2-3 years ago lol, well the phone still does what it did after it died, no vibrations screen etc, the only sign of life is the two red lights one at the top left of the screen and the trackpad, could this be just the battery that got fried that night? Should of gotten this fixed those years ago but just got a new phone instead.
Possible but could also be a sign of a bad logic board
I have an extra one if any of you want it, not selling it, I can just mail it to ya, PM me about it, whatever. It's got moderate chips and dents, but works fine except sometimes the soft keys don't always work and you have to restart the phone. It has the latest CWM recovery and the latest 4.4.4 ION ROM. No SD card ships, but baseband and all wireless works, but uh, it's SIM locked and S is still ON. Bootloader is unlocked. I'll give you an extra screen and an extra battery, too.
I fixed the one I posted this thread about after I realized I could buy a new motherboard directly from HTC with a few hidden strings pulled (I'm just that special) and before that I ordered the one I'm talking about now that I'm trying to get rid of on Amazon.
So, yeah. best way to fix one is to get a new motherboard, the one from HTC's old stock warehouse that I got took a week or so to ship, and I cracked the casing opening it and almost ripped a connector ribbon, and I also think that this phone surpasses the G1 as the most mechanically intricate device I've disassembled. I've done a few, but man, this blew the top.
First thing this morning, my Note 5 was working fine. Used the navigation to get to the house I was working at today, as well as simultaneously using Autoguard dash cam app. I got to the job, exited the navigation and Autoguard, got out of my van, holstered the phone.
About 15 minutes later, I try to use my phone to take some pictures, but nothing would happen. Black screen. Couldn't restart by holding the power button. Tried getting into both recovery and download modes. Plugged in the phone to see if it would charge. I was getting absolutely nothing. It was like my device had just up and died. I just kept wondering, could the board have been fried or maybe the battery shorted?
I was dreading the thought of seeing if warranty would cover the device, even after having it for only 5 months. I've been screwed before by the insurance and warranty service on other phones. Making me pay the deductible for a new device, and them claiming that there was water damage, showing me the "damage", when it's obviously a fried board and the moisture sticker isn't activated.
But anyway, lunch time rolls around. I go sit in my van, start pressing the buttons again. Still no restart, still no recovery, but then I try download mode, and viola. Device got into download mode. I canceled out, and the device rebooted normally. I was at 100% power when I got to the job site, and after roughly 4 hours later of it being unresponsive brought it down to 60%.
My mind was put at ease. Charged up normally afterward. The rest of the afternoon there were no more hiccups. Has anyone else ever had something like this happen?

Yup, has something similar happen to mine. Locked up just like yours while it was in my pocket. No response to anything, even plugging it in to the charger. Just had to hold volume down + power. This is a soft reset and is like a battery pull. Try it out if you have this problem again.
