How is the 7.0 upgrade overall compared to the XZ on Android 6? - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Can anyone list the bugs they've found since updating to 7.0 from MM? Also, how is battery life and overall speed/smoothness compared to MM? I can't find any definitive info on this and as I'm happy with MM I'm loathe to upgrade but know that the update will auto-install one of these days.

better battery (at least on data for me )
smootheness is a bit better
and the ram management is hell better than before...
camera i belive is same
boot time a bit better

Totally agree with that adding the camera is enough good for my expectations (im not trying to win a photo competition) and it works even better in low light than 6.0 (just an impression)... Otg is workin very good...
Bugs? Need more testing time none by now?
The lack of mhl or any other video out alternative is killing me badly. Very dissapointed
No fm support by now also.

So it's just as fast and smooth?
No bluetooth/Wifi/signal issues?
No lag or freezing? Thanks guys.

Can somebody confirm that the vulkan api its active în games? Its any difference now în gaming??

The battery is vastly improved. Albeit, I only updated this morning. But I have 3.5hours of SoT and I'm still at 50%
Did about 30mins of calling today and lots of emails/texting and chrome and playing around with split screen

Not noticed the battery but the swipe from the top works different

Right, new swipe from top shortcuts needs two pushes to activate instead 6.0 single tap to enable style. Don`t like too much but works ok

If you just pull down the a row of icons, that's still tap to activate or deactivate.

Search for the best battery saving OS

Hi ,
currently I'm running CodenameAndroid 3.3.0 on my Nexus S and everything runs smooth and works perfectly well for me, no doubts. But somehow I constantly get the feeling that the newer our operating system gets our batteries drain faster. Either this or my battery just gets old. However I'm searching for a Rom that has battery saving in main purpose. I dont care about playing games, the operating system or showing off how great my phone is. For this I have my Tablet The best solution for me would be a rom which is very low in batterydrain but as smooth as jellybean (maybe just port the transitions over). I know it might be hard to find something like this but is there any rom which matches my perception? Also a nice look would be cool, too ^^
I'm waiting for your responses!
I think you're looking for SlimBean. I'm on CNA too, the batter life is pretty bad
I tried SlimBean because I used SlimICS before but I miss too many features to change it back. Isn't there something else? Or which OS has the best batterylife in general?
i think gingerbread still has the best battery life.
androxide got me over 4hrs of screen time and a days usage with matrix
the new miui jb is also almost the same
IMO.....ICS's best battery life is on Kangy Ultra Ex 1.3 by DaXmax.
Just as long as u don't use Google talk since that's the ROMs only hiccup.
Then again like most will say.... its all depending on the user so hopefully it will help if u try.
I'm currently using the same developers JB ROM called paranoid Android..... so far it great but again I don't use all the newest features to much yet. I'm working myself slowing into the stuff.
Good luck
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2
There is no ROM with super battery life, some better and some worst, very similar.
Most u can get from nexus s is +4hrs screen on.
And i don't care about those pathetic screen shots with +7hrs of screen on.
Fire up 3g/H stock browser, maps, music etc and we'll find out how good ur battery life is.
MIUI get's me aprox 4 hours and 50 minutes of on screen time. Lots of game playing, instant messaging, syncing, music, and social media (Instagram, twitter, tumblr.) And about 9 hours + when it get's to about 14%
EDIT: This is when using WIFI, not my 3G.

This question will produce every combo under the sun...but in the end no Real answer. Every phone/battery is different and how the person uses their phone. Apps installed, how much you use said apps, are the ram hogs, 2g, 3g, I could go on forever...just like this thread will if not eventually ignored or closed.
Closed, there is no answer to this question, the majority of battery drain will be the screen (depending on brightness) and whatever app you have installed and use.
Generally it's a matter of finding out what works for you.

[Q] Ram management issue on the s6 causes lag?

Hey guys I am sorry if this question is asked again, but does the ram management issue on the s6 cause lag in day to day usage or it just deters the multitasking performance? Gonna buy the s6 tomorrow, and Im damn excited

It will mean if you use the back key to come out of apps, sometimes they will reload, such as phone and messaging etc, but only usually games will be closed regularly and aggressively. General lag isn't a problem, just a slight delay loading aps back into memory once they've closed.
I find if I back out of apps using the home key this problem is reduced.

How about scrolling through apps such as chrome ,Facebook ,play store. Does this issue cause any lag?
I've never really experience any huge lag. I turn off my device once in 2 days so maybe that helps.

90% of users won't even notice the memory management "issue". Only hardcore multitaskers will. The "issue" is the S6 kicks apps out of cache very quickly so whenever you tap the multitask button, the app relaunches/redraws instead of resuming from a hibernated state. There is a little lag (~0.5 second), but it is not a dealbreaker that would prevent you from enjoying the phone.

Chrome lags on every device I have owned, including the S6. Any app that uses Android WebView will lag.
I don't use facebook, so I can't speak for that app.
No Play store lag on my S6.

Really, I did'nt notice the problem with multitasking (because the S6 is so fast) before I read about it here.
Also, all the **** you hear about the battery life is not true. Of course, it's not the best out there (only 2550mah, so of course not) but it easily get you through the day (normal usage) and at least into another. The battery have gotten way better with a few updates (it was damn bad at the start) and might get even better when 5.1 hits in a few weeks.
Just turn of basic stuff, that noone uses anyway (almost) like, location history, wifi always scanning and such.

Glad to hear that, by the way 5.1 just came out recently and its showing mixed reactions among the users. Some people says that the battery life has improved a lot after the update and some just says its the same.

No, it's not out yet. At least not for the international version. Some users think, that the reason only one carrier got it yet, is because it is a "test" version. Not sure tho.
But well, as said, only out for one carrier for over a week now.

Yeah the battery life is overblown. It is no worse than any other phone with <2500 mAh battery. Anyone coming from a 3000+ mAh battery will be disappointed, but anyone that is used to plugging in every day won't know any different.
If you are rooted, I also recommend App Ops to manage permissions and save more battery :good:
Check Force gpu rendering and no lag. As far as it regards multitasking it sucks.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the OnePlus 2, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the OnePlus 2 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
well made phone, doesn't feel flimsy. SD810 doesn't seem to have the heat issues, screen could be a little better outside, battery life is great, the notification slider on the side is brilliant idea. Oxygen OS by itself sucks but with Xposed and several modules made the phone tons better.
Nice nice phone. I don't regret it!
Battery
Battery standby is extreme long. Tested it: in 12hours lost 3%. (Wi-Fi and Mobile Network was permamently active in my test)
But the active display standby is ~~~ lame.
Its got bit warm than my one+1 but it's ok.
Chasis/Design
The Chasis of phone is real AlMg. You can brake someones nose with that (not tested! )
It feels good in my hands, a bit heavier than one+1
Buyed with Kevlar StyleSwap Cover. Too bad, it's not fitting perfectly but it sit.
Sound
Speakers are louder than my laptop speakers. Clear Sound, no scratches heared.
Speed test and stability
Fast app start, smooth scrolling, switches fast between the apps.
Antutu Benchmark test:
Test run fine with over 55fps average.
With fully installed apps, games, tools etc..
Benchmark result: >58000
Camera/Video
Photo quality is very good. Takes pictures faster as one+1 and in good quality. nothing to say negative about it.
Videos are in good quality too. You can take slow-motion videos too (720p with 120fps)
SD Card
It's a bit faster as in one+1!
~3451MB (28183 files) Recovery backup done in 74 sec.
64MB/s Read/Write speed.
For a phone with 64GB internal memory it's enough speed.
Well. That's all importand tests i have done. If i have missed something, write it down here. i try to answer.
EDIT:
Very easy to unlock bootloader. Same way as in one+1.
Done it in under 5 minutes
On my old phone it was a real ass-disaster... (Xperia S) Never ever again
There are minor software glitches. But I expect everything to be fine in coming months. More than decent performance
love...mostly
i like the oneplus 2 overall, but not yet real excited about oxygen and updates only about once a month since purchase.
the type c connector seems to be usb type 2. OP apparently neglected to make accessory cables (power & otg) for the type c connection on 1+2, except power cable that comes w/phone. this, as of dec., 2015.
For otg: apparently you must go backwards to their usb type 2 otg (made for 1+1) and use their adapter from micro usb to type c connector.
tried a 3rd party otg type c that is usb 3.1: incompatable. perhaps update will fix this (i hope, since i
want to be able to use a flash drive w/phone since it has no micro sd slot). snc
I can try many roms

Awesome phone
overall. i m very dissapointed with this phone. Beautiful hardware with strong internals, the oos just make this phone extremely slow
Really love the phone since i installed CM 13
That runs really smooth and fast + great batterylife
I don't know if my OPT is defective, the speaker volume is very low. youtube videos or music is "ok" but especially ringtones are very low, I can't hear them outside of my house. At work in my pants it's impossible to hear and feel the phone because the vibration isn't strong enough. If Frenk_Ryder writes that the speaker is louder then the notebook speakers it's hard to believe for me. really?
and the battery life is horrible on my device. plugged it off the charger on 6 am and have only 20 percent on 12 pm with 2 - 3 hours SOT. I'm using the unofficial mahdi builds of cm13. the performance is good but Android System seems to be a battery hogger. I don't know why or what's the problem.
oxygen OS lacks much features of Cyanogen OS or Cyanogenmod and is "not complete at all", and Android System always is on top of the battery stats list. what is the issue for that? I mean Oxygen OS 2.2.0, older versions may be better in terms of battery life?
I hope anyone can help me with my device. thx
Was contemplating going with the Galaxy S6, but the Notification Slider was a real deal-maker for me (especially being loyal to the Galaxy lineup since S1).
Now owning the 1+2, I noticed I can not discreetly silent my phone in my pocket without taking it out and drawing attention in a meeting).
Have any of you found the Notification Slider to be a lot more useful than you originally thought it to be?

tried almost all the roms, some have something or the other missing, others have serious battery drain some have wifi issues, others camera is bull****. I miss my z2 so much and i will sell my op2 and get a nexus 7 or whatever its called, when its released
awesome, just needs a bit of software polish...
Near flawless
I have had many phones, mostly Samsungs and LGs. Let me tell you this Oneplus 2 is the perfect phone. WIth the latest OOS 3.0.1 MM, Xposed with Gravitybox, and nova launcher on top, it's a brilliant setup. This thing gets higher scores than the Nexus 6p on every benchmark i've tested, I can game for at least 33 minutes straight of Nova3 (that's the longest straight time I've played any game so far) and no overheating and NO lagging or slowdowns. I don't understand the controversy over overheating and throttling, perhaps the latest models being manufactured are the best models. Overall, I love this phone, also, battery life is incredibly for me. I go two days without one charge and that's using texting about 500 sms a day and web browsing, light youtube, and light music, ON wifi. I've never had a phone quite like it, and for 350 bucks! Awesome.:good::good::good:
Coming from a clapped out Nexus 4, I wanted to really like my One Plus 2 (Oxygen OS 2.2.1) but it was hard; a perfectly adequate phone, but not overwhelming.
The Marshmallow upgrade to Oxygen 3.0.2 has made it the phone it should always have been. It's faster, the fingerprint unlock is better and instantaneous (and no need to wake the device first), the occasional stutters have stopped, the battery lasts longer on standby.
The two standout features for me, however, are not software. Firstly, the alert slider is brilliant. Secondly, there are plenty of cheap Dual SIM phones but few decent ones (in the UK at least).
I only got access to the true potential of the sd810 after switching to a custom rom & kernel
Its Great phone overall.
I guess the sales could be much larger quantities if there were not invites.

I have developed a great degree of love for this phone, especially since it got a wealth of custom ROMs. It performs well, the battery life is excellent, it doesn't prevent me from installing custom ROMs or rooting, and all-in-all I love it. It handles everything I throw at it like a champ, and doesn't complain, and all for less than $300
its a good phone, but i had few hard times because of lack software updates from manufacturer (no android 7.0, no android 7.1, nothing) like on every other non-google phone, but thats life i finally fixed all major issues and it simply works, so i like it again

MM 6.0 on K1: is it worth it??

Rooted or not, does it worth it?? I searched a lot the forums and ive seen a lot of posts underestimate the MM, for being unstable or not compatable with a lot of apps(e.g. recovery,ds4 controllers etc).
For me that i want mostly emulation, gaming, multirom and stuff like that should i stay in stock(rooted) 5.1.1?
Also an extra question: nvidia excusive games can be played without the official nvidia controller?can i use ds4?
Thanks in advance everyone!! This tablet rocks!!
ok i will ask it more simply.. is there a reason NOT to update k1 to 6.0??
Also does multirom work with MM??
If you end up having the battery drain issue
, like myself, its better not to upgrade

I got my K1 last week and immediately updated to marshmallow and it ran ok. I can't say anything about the battery life pre and post ipdate buy I will day that the battery doesn't last as long add I thought it would.
As for your question about controller compatibility: You can use third party controllers with Shield exclusive games. I've tested this myself with my Moga and Half-Life 2

about the controllers: do you change the inputs in game in general??
Just got my shield K1 this morning, updated to 6.0 straight away, if you're used to marshmallow u cant go back, also battery life with doze should be better than LP, as a side not flashed TWRP experimental, made a Stock Backup to Micro SD, flash root installed layers and xposed it all works flawlessly just like my nexus 7 2013 =)
Doze won't help with battery life while using the device.
@x-nivek: I didn't have to do anything beyond pairing the controller to the device for Half-Life 2 to recognize it.

Nothing short of a bigger battery will help with battery life while using the device. But standby time will be quite a bit better.
I upgraded mine straight away and everything's working fine .
Not noticed it having bad battery drain
There is an intermittent battery drain issue on Marshmallow for some users as reported in the Geforce forums. If you notice your battery draining very quickly you can determine if you have the issue by looking at your battery usage. If you see a program called "Miscellaneous" draining most of your battery then you have this problem. You can further verify by using CPU-Z and checking to see if your cores are showing 100% utilization even when the system is idling. There appears to be an issue with the log daemon in 6.0. Nvidia claims to be working on releasing a 6.0.1 ROM that fixes the issue.
I personally haven't had any issues with the battery on 5.1.1 on my LTE version. I think Marshmallow is more suited for smartphones since we're using it more often, when it comes to doze. I don't know many people who've actually used Now on Tap including myself on the Nexus 5. I think the biggest feature is the integrated storage. Other than that..meh..
I use cooltool to see what processes are using the most cpu in realtime as an overlay on my statusbar. Helps to know what's really stressing your cpu when using it.

Gpu Turbo update available (C185)

Hello everyone
A few hours ago, Firmware Finder received .150 firmware update for C185 models. I personally downloaded it even though there was no change log and updated using Hurupdater. I had noticed no changes at a first glance but then i moved to settings to confirm that the phone had updated. It said GPU Turbo below my version number. I decided to check out a graphically intensive game I play called 'Honkai Impact 3rd' on max graphics and 60fps which would heat down the phone within a few missions and there would also be quite a few stutters when alot of special effects would be going on at the same time before. I can confirm that since the update that the stutters have been reduced but most importantly, the phone hasn't been heating up as much in game after an hour of playtime. Battery life has been noticeably better too as there is less drain for sure. This is just my experience, can't wait for everyone else to get it as well, so I can know what is happening (whether GPU Turbo is actually on or not). For now though, I'll be testing more games to see how the phone is doing but I'm liking this so far.
very good news
In China, there have been a lot reports of the phone getting even hotter, the battery draining faster and the camera being more sensitive to flaring (esp. in night mode). I'm curious if people here will confirm or if these bugs have been fixed in the meantime. Personally, I think I won't update to .150 when it's out, better to wait a few weeks =)
Better battery drain during gaming or even in general use?

From my experience (which is less than a full day) the phone doesn't get as hot as it normally did before the update unless I play extensively for about an hour straight. Any less and I've been seeing good heat management so far. Of course I'm still in the early stages of testing and cannot comment further until 3-4 days of testing.

For everyone interested to know benchmark results, to my disappointment, results on Antutu, Geekbench and 3d mark remain very similar to those prior to the update. Which is very strange indeed as I'm definitely noticing an improvement in battery life, device heat management and fps slightly whilst gaming. It is possible that im running a test build and have not been running a full taste of Gpu Turbo, and it's also possible that Huawei's claim of 'Gpu Turbo' just means much better device thermal manamagement for more consistent FPS and battery life. Lastly, it is also possible thst Gpu turbo isn't even on since this is a test build and it's just that they've tweaked device performance and improved battery life compared to the previous version I was on (. 130). Thus I cannot judge fully and I'm waiting on an update to prove me wrong. I check firmware finder everyday and love testing new things. Although if what I'm experiencing is actually gpu turbo then I do not mind as at the very least, I see some improvement in battery life.

Scrolling has been super smooth. Google photos has been super snappy. The only app I see causing any scroll lag at this time is Twitter and that I'd blame the app itself rather than Huawei. I think it's definitely more fluid than the previous version of the software I was on but it is not heavily noticeable as both were very smooth for the most part.

Hi, please check the slo-mo 960fps recording.... Any improvements in the alleged artifacts during 32x slow videos? Huawei is using framerate interpolation for it which throws in visible artifacts during close up slow motion...

I took this opportunity to compare the slow mo performance to my Mom's S9+. I believe the artifacts are still present as I see lines and weird effects popping up randomly which I do not see on the S9+.
Gpu turbo is only for games so you won't notice any improvement other that in gaming, that's why there is an special application tor that "game suite" that you can enable the acceleration.
I'm running b150 for a few days and so far the phone is better from before in term of small tweaks here and there and i noticed the front camera is better now,not perfect but very usable.
The battery has improved a little but but it was very good before too.
I had read that the antutu would be similar to snapdragon 845. I guess it was just a lie.

Oh thanks for the info, I actually didn't notice this and yes I see games running much nicer with the setting turned on. However, they also heat up the phone quicker and drain alot of battery life. Should you choose to turn the option off however, you notice the same games don't drain as much battery life anymore and the phone doesn't heat up as much and the battery life is noticeably better than before the update.

I don't play intensive games just clash royal,i have the acceleration turned off, didn't test much of it but the battery seems better not sure about the heat tho.
This is my battery life this day,all day 4g and most of the time outside.

That's pretty good considering you're gaming. I'm definitely getting atleast 7-8 hours of sot when I'm not going all out and about 5-6 on maxed out heavy gaming for most of the day. Even with the Gaming Optimization turned on the phone doesn't heat up alot as long as you're in a well ventilated environment. Im not much of a heavy gamer myself but definitely see better fps on Csr Racing 2 (used to lag a bit in the garage) and Honkai Impact 3rd with optimization in gaming suite on. Honkai is definitely giving me 60 fps in 90% of the scenarios so the lag is barely noticeable unlike before. As for benchmarks, unfortunately you cannot add benchmark related apps to the game optimize feature so the GPU turbo can't be turned on for them. Strangely enough, every other app (even regular apps) can be optimized.
