no service (network) but it recognize the sim, no flashing, bought new from samsung.h - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
i have a samsung s6 920f that i bought from samsung.
one day the bottom buttons stoped working (somtimes they did) and i gave it to samsung lab that said to me that the phone cannot be fixed and that they noticed the charging is not good also.
there was no problem with the network or signal before i gave to the lab and just got it back from them with the buttons not working and the lab said there are water damges etc.
after i got my s6 back i checked youtube and saw that the problem is with the charging and buttons moudle.
i got to anothe lab and they said that the fix could brake the screen because of the glue in the back of it so that the will not take the blame if they brake it.
so i got the parts and broke my screen myself while trying to replace the buttons
after i nroke my screen i took the device to a lab and they installed a new screen and buttons and charging port - now the buttons works well as well as charging - and the lab did not see water damge
the problem is that from that point the device has no network but it recognize the sim itself and whats on it. i cant search for networks or somthing like that.
i rooted the phone, i restarted it a few times i installed new rom old roms deleted imei restored it when i installed the original firmware, tryed differnt roms but nothing.
in all of the roms there is no network at all.
now the lab told me that they cannot find somthing but got another phone like mine that was "untoched" but same problem.
my phone havent been repaird and bought from samsung itself in israel.
does anybody knows a technical soloution to the problem (not go to samsung) or the phone and address samsung main lab in korea?
i have a new phone but i want to solve this.
i will mention that the antenna cable is attched and the sim works in my new phone and had tried the phone with a few sims.
for the s3 i saw somthing named ariza patch but it didnot worked on my device.
any ideas apart from not buying samsung phone again?

bump
got the phone back from the lab today

how it started?

i am trying to understand what the problem is.
i flashed a new pit and 6/0/1 firmware but no change.
i have noticed that the signal strength is -113db in the phone. - dows it says somthing to you?
it cold be a reception unit in the phone? does anyone have clue about it? do you jave a link for the part?
it turned out that samsung dont deal with parts only with boards and its ashame.
anyone knows a lab that i can send the phone to that repair electronics and not just play with plug and play parts?

baseband is ok
fyi - i flashed new pit and original firmware to try if it's a software issue but nothing.
also custom firmware not working.
any test mode code?

i want to downgrade from 6.0.1 but wuth no luck.
i noticed a bootloader problem on updates. and ! mark.

no chance to downgrade from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 and even if you can what's the point?
i belive this problem came from certificates error and will not be solved by downgrading or upgrading software

HTC One S (Helicopter SOLVED)

Hi there!
I just figured out that in "WCDMA Preffered" mode, in call time signal strength reach 16-17 asu makeing screen go crazy, than I simply set "WCDMA Only" and signal strength has stabilized with 12-13 asu or less in call time. The issue dissapear..
You can set it up eighter entering "Test menu" (*#*#3424#*#*) or in "Settings - Mobile Data - Network Mode - (WCDMA Only)
NOTE: The setting persist after reset so you don't need to reapply it every time.
Later edit: My test was made in a high signal area from my carrier. Now I'm testing in a lower signal strenght area (neutral zone) and my asu is 6-7 and this is great.
Enjoy your HTC One S
Soo far the issue gone. Keep this up (vote and say thx)
Hi again, after 3 days testing my theory the issue seems to completely gone. I reactivate long press home button eveything is normal.
Ohh.. just a little thing forgot to mention that doing this you lost 2 lines of signal. No more helicopter but -2 lines cover and probably this ain't so helpfull those with allready low cover in some areas. BUT this seems to be the only way to get rid of this issue.
My final decision!
Edit: Please pin my topic!
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have tried that but it resets to the default setting when you restart the phone.
EDIT: Seems to stay at that setting now. Will see how it goes.

This issue manifest most often durring calls when gsm signal interact with capacitive sensor. So you can test it very simple by makeing a call even to your free carrier number, put on speaker and tri to browse the web durring call or just play with the menu.. open / close apps..
Up topic
Its 9 days for me since the issue gives no signs comming back.
UP topic , Please pin my topic!
Thx

The problem is only repressed... when you are in an area without WCDMA/UMTS your phone is dead...
Indeed... I sayd before..on 31 jan but at last is an improvement when no one comes with any solutions, I did..
Since I've updated to official update 3.19.401.102 the problem seems to of gone.
I have switched back to gsm/wcdma auto with no problems so far.

My One S is not rooted yet and as every one knows HTC didn't update nothing for us. Before knowing about this issue i though my phone have some problems and i need to go to a service or something.. after i heard about the issue.. i was thinking.. mabe HTC will develop some update, but now that i realize that HTC will never do such a thing i was looking for something to stop the issue without doing any sofware changes.
Please keep me up to date about your ROM and if the issue is not comming back, i'll think about a software change..
As a fact you can give us some fresh links with your ROM
Best regards,

Helicopter still happens with the update but not as much.
Hi every one!
I did managed to Unlock / Root / S-OFF my HTC One S, i had some issues with the CWM untill i got a good recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-villec2.img but i still not receive any update from HTC..
Finally the issue is continue to manifest so.. the only thing we can do at this moment is switching to "WCDMA Only" as i sayd before.
This is a hardware issue that i read about .. there are 2 HTC One S models (probably motherboard series) and one of them has this issue.. so do what i did and stop searching for answers, this is the only way without risking of bricking your device or void your warranty searching for a better solution.
Enjoy it as it is or.. buy a new one if you can't live with it the setting !
Could a software update not solve the problem? I thought htc knew about the issue.
If you look at this link it seems htc know about the issue

[Q] Sudden loss of mobile network on One Plus One - cm-11.0-XNPH05Q

Hi All,
I am on roaming (national) and suddenly I have lost network on my phone (One Plus One - Vodafone). The phone is running cm-11.0-XNPH05Q | rooted | unlocked | TWRP.
The phone was working fine a few days back. The problem started when I had disabled mobile data on the phone as I did not have a mobile data plan and was being charged for data / usage. I requested for a plan activation. However, by then the network was gone. An update to cm-11.0-XNPH05Q came and installed correctly however, the network still is at large.
Tried reflashing 33R and 44S modem to no avail.
Inserting a different sim shows the network / recognizes / registers on network but I cannot make / recieve calls.
Inserting the sim from the problematic One Plus One into another phone - the sim works. I have another One Plus One running same config as above and works flawlessly.
I am at loss of ideas, and would grately appreciate any help.
Many thanks in anticipation.
I'm facing the same issue brother!
Since last 5 days
Hey Himanshu
sorry to hear about you having the same problem. Have you tried taking out the sim and putting it another phone and reinstating it back to opo? I noticed this helps getting the network back but still cannot make calls.
Also maybe try changing the network modes using *#*#4636#*#* and going to phone information and selecting bands - I noticed putting it on WCDMA preferred helped getting it back and in fact got the network and data back for 15 minutes before it disappeared.
Since I am roaming - can you please check the IMEI address on your phone and box is same and okay ?
PS: that would be sister bdw!!
others are reporting bad cell reception with latest update : http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/info-touchscreen-lag-t3027611
maybe downgrade is the best option for now.
crazydude10 - tried color OS - though I got the network back but still could not call and no data. Tried various network types.
The other opo seems to have no problem running cm-11.0-XNPH05Q.
Also, I noticed, downgrading to 33R or 44S my baseband never changed. Is that okay, I would think not.
I am really perplexed and could seriously use help, please

Check to see if your IMEI is still there.... go to Settings, About Phone, Status and scroll near the bottom the IMEI field should be under My Phone Number field and should not be blank, but a series of #'s. There's another field labelled IMEI SV, that has 0's in on my phone. My IMEI field has 15 numbers. If it's not there, search for a thread that steps you through loading up ColorOS to recover your IMEI, afterhwich you can flash the original ROM and then custom ROMs. Everyone should back up their IMEI/EFS partition and store a copy on their PC just for this reason.
If you think it is a corrupt baseband, take a look at Caulkulin's 2.1 Opo ROM. He has an Xtras.zip that has the radio in it. You might be able to flash that zip to down-rev the baseband.
Wisiwyg - many thanks.
The IMEI number seems to be okay. 15 digits and all okay under Settings --> About Phone --> Status--> IMEI.
Last night I had flashed Calkulin's Stock Rooted 4.4.4 XNPH05Q. Everything went okay but still no network.
This morning, i took out the Vodafone sim and inserted it into other OPO and then back to the original (problematic OPO). I could get a lock on the network and R for roaming but no data and cannot receive / make calls. Screengrabs attached. IMEI number hidden on purpose.
After about 30 mins or so the network disappeared.
I have tried downgrading the radio / modem to 33R and 44S to no avail :crying:
Just downloaded the Caulkulin's 2.1 Opo ROM, could not find the Extras.zip in the thread.
i have same problem since jan. it's happen right after i flash my One to PA alpha 5.0. downgrade/flash almost all modem. no luck. hmmm
DisturbanceZ - sorry to hear about your problem.
So yesterday, I found out that there are service centres in India for One Plus One. I looked up the address for the one in the city where currently I am and reached the office. Dissapointed - as it was a multi brand service center called Touch - which I later from the bills figured is HCL Infosystems Ltd.
Only two people at the counter and some 4 technicians inside. All rude and inefficient and most un-helpful!! There were some 50 odd people waiting and I was number 42 in queue. After about 2.5 hours of waiting, my name was finally called and it took them some 10 minutes prepare a job card (the counter guys were least interested in their job and treated everyone real bad). As I was not carrying the box / invoice of the OPO it was considered out of warranty and I had to pay for it to be checked. The phone went in to technicians and another waiting for 1.5 hour.
After all the waiting, the security guard (who was doubling up as inspection manager or something) hands me the job sheet and my device and to my horrr - completely wiped off (internal storage). I notice that they had flashed cm-11.0-XNPH05Q. When I asked as to what the problem was and that the device was not getting any network yet - the counter guy rudely pronounces if I could read and that it was al lwritten on the job sheet. It was scribbled that "Repair outside warranty, seal broken for software, PCB problem"
At the bottom it was written that it would cost INR-13124/- or USD-210 for the Motherboard change. I was shocked and disappointed. I asked if I could speak to the technician and the security / inspection manager darts in and out to inform me that technician is busy and cannot come out an speak to you!. I was done and fed up with this nonsense - just paid the USD7 charges for checking and came out.
Attached image of the jobsheet (which i demanded a copy of - they were not givin that too - strangely)
Needless to say I am really disappointed with the terrible and non existent customer support from OPO. I had been recommending this device to everyone but in India it is just not worrth the trouble in case something happens to the device.
REQUEST - if someone can help me identify if this actually is a hardware issue or were the guys trying to fleece? I would be grateful if someone could guide / point me to the right direction to verify this. much heartbroken and sad

Tried the stock firmware - 25R, problems remains, however, some new development - after flashing the phone with 25R - I was able to get a network lock and also get internet. It lasted only for some minutes.
Found a pattern - when I put a sim in the problematic OPO and network gets locked (E disappears and cannot make / receive calls), rebooting the phone or wiping cache / dalvik don't help. I have to take the sim out put it any other phone and start that phone and then put it back in problematic OPO. If I do this it will work for one call and then go away again till I repeat the process. In Color OS this method did not work but it worked on CM11s-25R. Infact the network remained after a call for good 6/7 hours but could not make calls. Mobile data signal was showing up/down traffic but was unable to load any webpage.
I have noticed that the Phone Information does not yield any Neighbouring CID: no neighbouring cells.
Not sure what to make of this. Does this look like a hardware issue?

Hi today only I received my phone. I was asked which ROM I want.. I said give me color os not a problem. I wanted to find if its hw or sw issue. Because guys from opo told me that's sw issue. It's been 10 hours + no random restart. Candy crush always crashed my phone. Even that didn't happen today. I will update you in this.

Dead GPS ? Hardware test code

Hello,
3 days ago I dropped my phone, it survived thanks to the official rubbery case, it just rebooted by itself and nothing more, not event a scratch.
Yesterday, I've noticed Google Maps having a hard time to locate me, I tried several things, reboot, another gps app, even the app GPS Test but I can't get a single GPS signal, I think my gps may have died from the drop but I'm still unsure.
I'd like to test it through the hardware test you can usually access with the emui secret code but I can't find a working one on EMUI 5, is there any secret code for hardware test in EMUI 5 ? What can I try ?
Thanks
dead GPS
Similar problem but without dropping the phone...
After about two months of owning the phone I just realized that the GPS doesn´t work at all.
It went unnoticed because I always use wifi+mobile data option that is sufficient to locate me in Google maps. Only when I needed real navigation I realized there is a problem.
It certainly is not caused by mechanical damage because the phone is masked from the day 1 and had never been dropped.
I did a factory reset with no success (i am on emui5, b360). Applications for testing GPS signal can not locate any satellite, let alone get a fix on. It looks as if the GPS is completely dead.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Or some advice what to do before I take it to service center...
Hi, i bought a FRD-L04 in USA in january, ive the same issue. The first month it was working just fine, then i didnt use the gps for days and the OTA comes. And now i realice that the gps isnt working the way u are saying. the phone has not a single drop, not a single scratch, so i think its a software problem.... i was thinking in a downgrade to marshmallow to see if the problem is in the ota

Mine is FRD-L09.
I cant really tell whether the problem appeared with upgrading to EMUI5 because I upgraded the same day I bought it (and never used GPS-only location service anyway).
If you try downgrading to MM and it solves the problem, please report back.
Just to let you know, after a factory reset the GPS was still dead.
I have sent it to the service center, I don't know what they did to the phone but the GPS is working again.

I´ll stay on MM for a few days, only to test the battery (since I upgraded to N the day I bought it).
Hi. Where can I find the Rom to downgrade to 6.0 MM?

samsung S7 Freezing

Hi
I am Sure the Title of this Thread was Mentioned Quite a lot. but bare with me .
I have Tried the Search Option and Didn't find a Thread that addresses the Problem that I Have.
I have a Samsung S7 " SM-G930FD " that Keeps Freezing.
it Only Freezes when the Phone is Locked and Not Used.Never freezes while Being Used or when the Screen is On.Always Happens when the Screen is Off.
I tried to Disable the Always on Feature, Removed the SD Card, Changed the SIM card, Changed the Service Provider, Kept it Updated and even Clearing the Cash wouldn't Solve the Issue.it Just Freezes Regardless and without any noticeable Reason. Some times it is a week between Freezing and some times it freezes multiple Times a day.
only can be Recovered with a Hard restart.
I Tried to Use it on Safe mode , rest it to Factory, Soft Reset and Hard Reset.
wiped the date and Did any Suggestion that I could Find on the Internet. Sadly most of the topics only cover how to Restart your Frozen phone.and Never Found a Single Hint about what to do about this Issue.
the Device is Currently on Android 7.0 , baseband Version G930FXXu1DQIL .
I really Wish I can get any Help.
thanks a lot.

No sim error and no wifi

Hi, for some reason my wife's U11 just decided to stop working - but only the sim and wifi. The no sim message shows and wifi won't turn on. I've reset network settings and have gone as far as a complete factory reset to no avail. It seems to me to be a hardware issue, so I'd like to know if there is anything else I might be able to try? I'm out of ideas, and if it truly is a hardware fault, then that kinda sucks, but oh well. It was a nice phone while it lasted...
I should add that bluetooth still works.

This is starting to get interesting. If you have any updates, please let us know.
I've managed to downgrade it now to Android 8.0. Same issue.
I don't want to believe that this is a hardware fault. But it really seems to be...
Maybe its the antenna? I don't know. MAybe I'm going to root it and flash a custom rom and Wifi repair app.
But It really think there's an hardware defect for now..

That's super interesting to me. Do you know when it happened to you? It really feels quite coincidental to have this happen to a few people.
It happened just 2-3 month ago. First I wasn't able to turn the phone on cause of the WLAN issue. Cause my phone space was locked I wasn't able to authorize myself cause of the disabled connection. After a few tries I put my Sim card inside the phone, and it connected and I could authorize and disable this memory lock. But afterwards it never worked again with my sim card. It seems like it wouldn't even recognize my Sim Card. No Pin question or symbol at the upper front of the display. Nothing. It's really werid and annoying, that something like this happens. I can't believe that it's hardware related.. How would it be possilbe that it's hardawrare related and whe have suddenly the same problems nearly the same time...
I should note that my wife has had her screen replaced before (she dropped the phone and it basically cracked all over). Have you replaced yours?
Yes I replaced mine too. But nevermind I had that issues before. My phone ran all well with cracked screen and one day I had that issues... So I changed my screen in the hope it would fix it.

I'm wondering if it will be a more widespread problem. I'm going to try and get in touch with HTC and see what they have to say. Will update if I hear back from them.
Okay, that would be great. But I don't have high expectations that they'll answer. Due to the fact that they have stopped there smartphone section for now and no more official updates and stuff like that.
But let's hope die at least...
I have exactly the same issue. It happened yesterday. It was just there, sitting on my desk, one minute it was working and I was checking my e-mail, the next one it was not. The phone now detects no SIM card and if I try to enable wi-fi it just hangs in "enabling" status for some time until it gives up and disables it again. I am not 100% sure, but I think I also had a short time in which wifi was no longer working and the SIM connection still was, I remember seeing the 4G logo and maybe I even browsed the internet for a short while. By the way, I have not replaced my screen. Now I know that I can probably spare myself the hassle of doing a hard reset.
It is really suspicious that this weird problem is happening to several people within a short time frame. It would be cool to hear if HTC has anything to say, but I am also not expecting anything from them now, especially for a phone which is out of warranty.
In case it can help, as the author reported, bluetooth still works and it is possible to connect the phone to the internet using bluetooth tethering on another phone (the good old M8 helped here ). This doesn't solve the issue, but is much better than nothing, most apps will work and it is easier to make a controlled migration to another phone.
Any news here?
Same issue here!!! Help!!!

Same issue here!!! Help!!!
I have the same issue with a U11+ bought in Germany (I know, other model but hey). I have tried using the other sim slot and using another (definitely working) sim. WiFi doesn't work either. My phone has no visible damage (not even scratches) and no parts were replaced. I can't remember it ever getting wet either. For me it stopped working on 2. of September.
Sorry guys. HTC were really slack at getting back to me, and unfortunately they want me to send the phone in to get it inspected. I know it's out of warranty and since my wife is well and truly into her Huawei P30, this phone is unfortunately going to just have to remain this way. Sorry for not having any better info.
The same issue I am facing now. No SIM CARD Detected and WiFi isn't connecting.
What things I have tried doing so far?
1.) Factory Reset - 3 times.
2.) TWRP Based RUU Restores ( 2 possible versions tried )
3.) Tried Restoring zip based restore
4.) Did a Full Internal + External SD Card Wipe and then flashed RUU.
5.) Restored stock ROM.
Nothing is working at all.
Now, Trying to do S-OFF but as the phone itself is not booting into a normal OS, I cannot install Sunshine app and proceed. Help needed, at least in getting the OS to work.
Thank You.

It seems there's no way without replacing hardware to fix it. But if we don't know what causes this error we cannot proceed.
I tried the same things as you did. Also unlocked bootloader. My device is starting but I cannot proceed to the main menue cause of no internet connection. I'd love to try a custom rom. That's the only thing missing.
Also if the phone is rooted there are WIFI Error fixing apps and check.
I have bought myself a OnePlus 7T pro MClaren edition and I'm really happy with it. But also I don't want to accept that the htc just died from nothing.
Same issue here, happend a few months ago and after a week the phone started working. Now again no SIM detected and wifi won't connect.
