[Completed] Poor soldering skills lead me to burning through fuse on sony xperia z3 compact - XDA Assist

A little while ago I broke my screen on my Sony Xperia z3 compact, so naturally I replaced the screen and the digitzer, and it worked (hurray!) for about five minutes (Boo!), after which the backlight stopped working, apparently this is a common issue and I managed to find a solution after googling "sony experia z3 compact backlight not working". Should be the first result (cant post outslde links as noobie)
So i attempted to make the jumper with a soldering Iron, but my soldering experience is clearly evidence of my ability to break phones as in the process I burned through the component (I think. though the whole mess is covered in Solder right now). And although the charging light comes on the phone it self will not turn on. It is completely dead, I have tried various resets but none work, I should mention the phone worked perfectly before hand it was just the backlight that was the problem..
Is it time to get a new phone, or is there still hope? I've already sunk over £100 into trying to repair the stubborn basterd but I've not quite given up hope

Hi,
I would say you need to buy a new phone, but I'm not good at repairing phones either, so perhaps you should register and ask your question here. Good luck!

[HTC Universal] screen fried

hi all,
yesterday i got an aftermarket, all purpose usb charger that could charge my iphone, my htc, my zune and my bluetooth GPS device (easier to carry one charger for all)
i put my htc on charge overnight, the way i usually do, but when i checked it in the morning, the screen was not responding to touch. the screen was fine and i could do the navigation thru keyboard, just no response on touch...
the screen wasn't burnt or damaged in anyway from any side, neither was the device hot.....
my charger specs are 5v / 1.5 amp output....
i suspected a software issue, and hard-resetted as well, but no use!
any idea if the charger (amp rating) could be responsible for the damage?
thanks,
Farrukh

Same problem i'm facing . . . . .
Is there any solution to it ?
i had the same problem a couple day ago, sounds funny but
i've put it i portrait mode and just hit my left hand with my uni and it started working again,
btw check is there any dirt on the edges of the screen, try cleaning it
or go to align screen and tap every point of the screen to see if the cross moves
It is an interesting problem in a sense that it is sudden. Usually digitizer failures and loss of touch sensitivity happens over a period of time. The only time it can happen suddenly and completely is when the digitizer gets ripped off at the connector or comes loose over time. Doubt the charger was responsible. You have an intermittent (or permanent) digitizer failure. Try re-flashing ROM to exclude software corruption issue. If all fails - replace the LCD+Digitizer.
IN CASE EVERYTHING ELSE FAILS. I know it sounds extravagant to replace both, but unless you have a specialised equipment and/or are capable of flex soldering, I suggest purchasing both in one unit. Can either go new, in which case I suggest cnn.cn as one of the cheapest sources for Dopod D900 (which is the model you will be searching for on that site, no others will be available) LCD+Digitizer combos or... purchase a cheap failed second hand unit with good screen.
The replacement is a fairly straightforward job if you are capable of following the instructions precisely. The instructions can be found in a Service Manual floating somewhere on this site.

[Q] Help - HTC Sensation XE Coffee damage

Hi there, I recently spilled coffee onto my aging device, and fear I may have damaged it. Though I pulled the battery and followed SOP's for drying it out, it's been drying over night, but the digitzer is completely dead, or at least, the touch screen does not work. The phone also restarted randomly once, so I have a feeling there may still my liquid, or is this more likely to be permanent damage?
As I have no intention of replacing the phone, could anyone give me any assistance for drying out or repairing the device, I bought it on ebay and there's no warranty left on it. Would you recommend I first wait longer / dry further before testing or is a dead touch screen certain death?
Thanks in advance!
Update
I have taken apart the phone after watching a video that made me realise how simple it is inside, so I've taken it apart, given it a few hours under the fan and a dessicant. Put it back together and now the digitizer works!
However the phone is still randomly switching off as if there is an electrical fault, or still liquid in there (even though I cannot see any ANYWHERE. I'm going to give it another few hours in the heating cupboard, does anyone have any recommendations or info?

[Completed] Sony Xperia Z3 Display not working

Hi, so today I took my Sony Xperia Z3 into the bath with me today. The phone is quoted to be waterproof to 1.5m for 30 minutes. When I went into the shower, both flaps were secured and closed properly and I made sure that both the ports were completely covered. I don't bath for long periods of time, definitely not 30 minutes but the phone was still submerged. When I left the bath, both flaps were still secured and ports properly covered. However, roughly 10 minutes out of the shower, I went to plug in my headphones and suddenly the display on the phone started to fade. This has NEVER happened before. The screen began fading and eventually went black. I opened the flaps out and I did see a bit of water on the other side of the flaps. I believe that the device itself still works, because the phone vibrates from notifications and the LED indicator light still works. This phone is fairly new and this isn't the first time I've taken the phone and submerged it into my bath. However, this is the first time I've actually encountered the problem. I bought the phone in late May so there is still warranty on the phone (warranty up to a year). I called the store where I bought the phone but they told me SONY doesn't cover water damage. I've taken out the sim card and sd card and I've left the flaps open for a long time and still the display refuses to work. What should I do?
Hi there
You'd be best served asking for help from the experts who own your device, here

Good luck

Vibration stops randomly

Hi I have some very weird problem..
My vibration stops almost randomly.. Or more accurately when using keyboard (tried few.. All the same)..
So I thought thats a software problem but when it happens.. If I shake hard my phone the vibrates coming back.. So then it made me think that maybe some connections inside are floppy..
Does any one else ever had such a thing?
I'm using Sony Xperia Z3 compact so opening up is not so easy and will ruin the water proof..
Thanks
I have the same problem on my Motorola Razr. I think this is due to malfunction of the vibration motor. Repair of the device can help.
Unfortunately my phone is sealed and waterproof so its not simple as like order new vibrator from ebay and install it on my own.. I'll have to go to the lab to fix that and I'm not sure if that's worth it..
If your Razr is easily disassembled and you are going for hardware fix please let me know if that helps.
and of course if you find a software solution also post that here.. I'm sure it will help others but me

(In need of hardware repair Help) My Sony Z3 gives no display but the sounds work!

The phone is Sony Xperia Z3 dual d6633
The problem: The phone gives no diplay but the sound is working and even when I press the camera button it gives sounds as if I'm taking pics...
Tried Solution: I replaced the LCD twice with new ones, and replaced the Main flex cable but still not working.
The phone actually was fixed before but I don't know where it was fixed. There is a thin wire wielded on the main board and I don't know where this wire should be connected! I took some pics of the main board and the weilded wire , please if you have experience with hardware or you've seen similar situation like this tell me what is the function of this wire and where should the other end be connected to?
