You forgot two more which are quite promising these days
Amplify (xposed needed)
Servicely (ROOT)

Amplify is good. Servicely is very similar to Greenify, except it's far too aggressive, it kills apps while they're still being used. For example, I can switch from Tapatalk to Chrome for a minute, switch back to Tapatalk and it reloads the app because it was closed by Servicely in that short amount of time. It just doesn't have the finesse that Greenify has.

so.. do you use z-ram? does it help anything? notice differences? just wondering what the general consensus on z-ram is.
option 1: you use it and you notice that it helps with performance
option 2: you use it only for the sole purpose that it is available to you but you dont notice anything different
option 3: you dont use it because you dont see any benefits from using it or it causes problems (i.e. battery drain)
option 4: you dont use it because you dont believe it will help or dont trust it or just want to stick to simplicity
hmm.. i guess option 3 and 4 are essentially the same lol

for the first time, i installed my ROM without z-ram and so far i havent noticed any performance decreases but i did notice that my battery lasts a tad bit longer without it
ill probably stick to not using it.. seems like a gimmick

It helps with multitasking. It is not a performance tweak but rather a convenience.
It basically holds the app in memory so that when you get back to it, it will open fastet.

+ Using "Z-Ram" will give u more Free RAM n slightly better multitasking advantage.
- It will drain ur battery fast.
Now it depends on u if u wanna use it.
Do you have any numbers or data to show battery drain while using zram or is this based merely on observation?

Pure personal observation.
I used to have zram, but seeing the battery drain I disabled it in the next flash.

Hmmm.. i just turned off my zram last night, now ive been using my phone for 47 minites already and its still at 100%... I dont usually get to stay long at 100% while screen is on... Maybe turning zram off helped .... Thanks for this thread and infos

Option 3. The Sensation has enough RAM.
nope I dont use it, never noticed a difference
where is the zram script located?
hi guys.. noob here..
just wanted to ask how do you disable z-ram? do i have to flash the rom again and deselect the z-ram on the installation process? or are there any way i can disable or delete it without flashing? Thanks in advance guys..

Thanks guys really appreciate it.. hopefully it saves a little bit of battery life.. thanks again..
Correct me if I am wrong (happens a lot) but I thought z-ram takes some of your ram (80-90 mgb) and uses this to cache data for background apps rather than use a portion of your sd card. This would mean more streamlined multitasking and less wear for your sd card. I notice no difference either way, bit use it cos my 32 gb card cost me a lot, and want it to last forever lol.

i'm on vipers rom. initially i used yank555's modded faux kernel with zram, and many times my ram went down too low causing lags.
now i changed to sebastianfm's kernel and disabled zram via axetilen's mod. i dont have low memory problem anymore, no more lag and seems better battery life too. so i dont use zram because i think it's unnecessary.
Thanks to All, another thing to learn from experienced users... I'm very new with Android OS, i had no regretted switched from iphone to Android.
It sounds good in theory, but I've never noticed any difference.
Has anyone used this app on the htc sensation? I have installed it and so far it is "learning".
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app
just installed it and will test it until I flash Elegancia update.
Hopefully the Qualcomm guys did a good job
AW: snapdragon batteryguru app
Mine is also learning.
Does anyone know how long the app "learn" and is it possible to restart the phone to flash something while it is learning?

After a brief 2-4 day introduction period, Snapdragon BatteryGuru learns the user’s behaviors and then notifies the user that it is ready to extend the battery life and improve the experience. (that's what the developer says in app description)
When you flashed your device you have to start from scratch teaching the tool your behaviour.

I mean, if a flash a mod for example and restart the phone, is battery guru learning again from beginning?
No clue, but I don't think so if you don't change something deep in system with the mod
I've used it for a week(after learning process which took 3 days initially ) and honestly i didn't see any improvement in battery at all ..I always use auto sync but still ..
give this greenify app a shot ..its performing awesomely good with regards to ram and battery ( i got +5 hrs total time during first cycle )
Yes, heard of greenify. How long are you using it yet?

Will give a try, thanks for advise!

I'm using the snapdragon app for 3 days now. Battery life is about 10 – 20% better. Draining much slower.
Before that i was using battery juicer. That always told me factor 1.8 with Anker battery.

Can someone post the apk out?? Not available in my region...

Update to version 1.1beta
Ok so maybe I should have posted this in development at this point but...idk
So I built another app and would like ppl to test it out. This app will kill core 2 to increase battery life. It also kills when the screen is off.
Just push the off button and the the core will be turned off and will remain off till you turn it on through the app or reboot.
Please let me know your thoughts!
This is going to be free on the market when its done.
Please let me know your battery life and what not if you can.
Thanks guys!

haven't done anything long term to test battery life but it seems not to keep core2 off 100% of the time (is it supposed to?). even when i directly wake from the lock screen into the app itself i can see core status switching off & on.
im also getting a lot of SU toast notifications outside of the app itself. when i run linpak the multi thread yields results typical of both cores running.
running Liquid smooth and a custom BMS kernel.
thanks but uninstalled for now

Just started a few days ago. No idea what caused it. I'm on stock 38r, rooted, ak kernel.
Having trouble with Tapatalk: http://youtu.be/fPzlMDijcRE
Scrolling in tapatalk has been lagging from day 1 for me. I tried several fix suggested in other threads, but didn't help.
Only way to fix it is to use a combination of ART runtime and performance mode. Although just today I flashed latest Franco kernel with another updated touchscreen firmware and it already feels smoother without forcing the cpu to full speed

Tapatalk is the only app with this kind of performance issue.
tapatalk was built to lag
1st laggy app ever built on Android and Ios
First thought is, somebody still using Tapatalk??!!! Such a crap app and never worth the hassle. Solution is to uninstall it.

any alternative forum app? tapatalk = laggytalk
You can try Forum Runner, but it's utter crap.

Well, I created this thread in hopes that someone else had this problem along with a solution, not to be ridiculed for using the app. Thanks.

Sorry buddy, didn't mean to seem that way. It's the app we all hate, not you
As you can see it's not just you has the laggy tapatalk experience.
I've just got my one+ and I've this lags too.
But I've also a N4 and N5 and there is no lags. So sorry but it's not an app problem.

oh no:fingers-crossed:
greenify just pushes apps which is standing-by to sleep. if u want to really save energy, try setCpu (requires root)
if u use greenify, the energy saved is not so significant;
but if setCpu, u will see the difference!!
energy saving is quite important because it can extend your battery's life!
hope i can help you!

In fact it generally don't hurt your phone... it requires root and will just set the frequency of the cpu.
You can choose the frequency for your phone for different situations, like:
performance - when using apps that consumes many ram
ondemand - auto change the frequency, it will decide which governor is best for the time
powersave - save energy.
You can find the descriptions in the setCpu app, which is very informative and descriptive! ^^
Hope this helps!!
