Just started a few days ago. No idea what caused it. I'm on stock 38r, rooted, ak kernel.
Having trouble with Tapatalk: http://youtu.be/fPzlMDijcRE
Scrolling in tapatalk has been lagging from day 1 for me. I tried several fix suggested in other threads, but didn't help.
Only way to fix it is to use a combination of ART runtime and performance mode. Although just today I flashed latest Franco kernel with another updated touchscreen firmware and it already feels smoother without forcing the cpu to full speed

Tapatalk is the only app with this kind of performance issue.
tapatalk was built to lag
1st laggy app ever built on Android and Ios
First thought is, somebody still using Tapatalk??!!! Such a crap app and never worth the hassle. Solution is to uninstall it.

Sorry buddy, didn't mean to seem that way. It's the app we all hate, not you
As you can see it's not just you has the laggy tapatalk experience.
I've just got my one+ and I've this lags too.
But I've also a N4 and N5 and there is no lags. So sorry but it's not an app problem.

Hi,
Is there a ROM comparison chart somewhere for Nexus S?
I'm looking forward to a ROM, which is:
based on 2.3.4.
has a notification power widget.
has 3G SIP calling.
(sort of) stable.
fast.
Some nice to have features:
Lock-screen tweaks.
Battery percentage hack.
Permission management.
Any ideas?
CM7 nightly seemed to be a good choice, but it freezes time to time.
I am using infin1ty. Solid as a rock and fast too.
I think it fulfils your wish list.

Thanks for the tips! I've just flashed the latest infin1ty.
There are some nice touch, like working Video Chat and a nice Battery icon, but two things bug me:
Skype crashes
Seems laggy to me a little, even laggier when CM7 nightly.
I'll keep trying it and we'll see...
Balázs
I've been running Infin1ty for a few days, upgraded to the new version this morning and really no lag on my end. Hated the battery icon so built a new one in UOT Kitchen and now it's looking good.

no idea about skype.
i played arround a bit with the cpu settings (No-frills CPU control) and voltage settings (proton) and i got a really smooth fast and stable rom. so just give it a try
I prefer CM7 never had any freezing issues.

Just give them all a test ride and see which one you like best. I'm on superasop ATM and so far it's been the snappiest rom I've tried. Still not perfect though.
It has everything in your list though.

Use benchmark in the android market.
Just to give this a bump as I'm looking for the same thing as OP but would like to know more about what everyone thinks. I m on cm7.0.3 atm and its really frustrating how it restarts out of the blue or gets into a bootloop. with the features listed by the OP, which rom is the most stable?
Good idea...
SuperAosp has been really, really good to me. I did an original wipe and reinstall a month ago, and it is has been really good and snappy ever since, even through non-wipe upgrades to ROM.

I'm using ZuluZulu rom, fast and stable. Tried lot of cm based roms but this one is almost no random reboot like cm.

I've just flashed SuperAosp. First impressions:
Really nice icons and theme.
Nice animations!
Video chat is nice, but it works only one way. I can see both myself and the called party on the phone, but the called party cannot see me on Gmail. Might not be related to the ROM, though.
ROM Manager is crashing. I can live without that app, though.
Very laggy. I expect the operating system to react immediately, but sometimes it lags for 1 sec or more when the system is busy. This is most probably due to I/O scheduling issues.
I'll probably give other ROMs a try as well.

In my opinion, battery life is only good when you're not using the phone. With that said, I apparently had my phone on for about twelve hours before it died and that's with minimal use.
As for apps not working.... the XDA app and Gallery aren't working for me on the EB.

Yes I know this should be in apps and themes but everyone deserves to see this, especially us Tbolt guys.
This has been proven to be a placebo affect. I have tested it for almost 3 days now and it doesn't really help at all. Also someone mentioned in that forum it doesn't work properly with snapdragon processors because the rndg is different than others. If it does help at all I think it would help more for the lag that comes from not rebooting for a long period of time.

I have been using it with unsense and it hasn't really improved anything. No difference in performance without it either. Like I said it's a placebo caused by the fact that the tweak actually wakes your processor repeatedly which is why your phone seems to react better. You can use it if you like but it is really just a battery drainer. You can get the same performance increase by setting your governor on performance.

I ran it on nu sense and it drained my battery and noticed no improvement in speed. You see an increase because you want to see an increase. Its like throttle body spacers people puts on their cars. Suppose to improve performance and increase fuel mileage. They do no such thing but make a nice paper weight. People who had them swear they could feel an increase. One guy put his truck on a dyno and tested with it on and with it off. His results was with it on he lost a few hp. This is why butt dynos are so inaccurate because we make our selves believe we can see and feel a difference. When in fact there isn't.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post. It cause a wake lock on the processor making it wake repeatedly which is the likely reason that anyone notices anything. It in no way shape or form affects entropy which was the original intent of the app. Google has also stated that the very issue this is supposed to fix was actually fixed with the release of ICS. Try it on a gb rom and see if it actually works. Also, after you run it for a few days disable it and see if there is a decrease in performance. I've ran it for about three days and there is no difference without it running.

I have installed Seeder on my Gingerbread (SkyRaider Zeus) Thunderbolt and 4.2.1 Galaxy Tab 10.1.
In neither case has it improved speed, launching or operations.
I wanted to believe. In my testing, i call it wishful thinking.
I saw other threads like this but they're not necessarily answering the question for the HTC One X AT&T.
See, my HTC One X (had it since last late June) is really laggy. I switched from the default Sense 4 launcher to Nova Launcher Prime, was a BIT smoother but still laggy as hell. I tried another launcher (8Launcher - Windows theme lol) and it was alright for a bit. Now it's stuttering every time I unlock and it's just annoying.
I'm considering rooting my phone, but will that fix this? Getting a new ROM? I want butter like everyone else...
Seems like I'm the only person with a laggy phone while I see people on YouTube and on these forums with buttery phones and I'm just drooling and getting annoyed because I know my phone SHOULD be capable of getting that.
Thanks!
Rooting in and of itself will do nothing but give you root access.
But custom roms and kernels, with debloating, should speed you up. Two apps should help: Greenift and lagfix.
I would also suggest, once you're unlocked and s-off, updating to the most recent firmware via ruu. Don't do it before rooting or you'll be stuck unrooted. Also, don't do it unless you're s-off or you may brick your phone applying the jb RUU over supercid.

Just going to throw my two cents in...
I've had the ATT One X for a little less than a year and never had any lag. Although I've been rooted and running a custom rom since the root was released for 2.20. I got it back pre - AT&T Jelly Bean release so maybe running stock JB lags the phone. Not too sure what you are running and / if you close apps when you are done (shouldn't make a huge difference if only a few are open) but if you DO root and run a custom rom the lag should disappear. If you want a sense rom I would suggest HatkaXL with the ElementalX kernel for no lag and good battery even though I switch roms weekly or more. I usually prefer AOSP roms but screen tearing is a big turnoff for me lately. The sense roms paired with ElementalX or Bulletproof kernels generally have the best battery life.
If anything I stated was incorrect feel free to correct it, as I said just throwing MY two cents in. :good::laugh:
I'm running stock JB on my AT&T One X. No lag here, and didn't notice any when I was running ICS. It's a bit weird that you are having that issue. Besides running roms, rooting will allow you to remove system apps, like AT&T bloatware which can surely lag your phone and waste precious ram. I would go for it. Only reason I'm not rooted is because I didn't do due diligence and wanted to test drive my phone before voiding the warranty.

The kernel or the custom ROM? Which one do I have to flash once I root my error-filled phone?

Its really both. You can flash a kernel and make changes inside the custom ROM. However. Being that you are some what new, I suggest using lag fix and ROM cleaner. (Two apps in the play store )

Try Quadrant benchmark you will see how much has affected. The normal score should be around 2500 but now is around 1989. Also, now I can't play games that has 3d graphic.
That sucks man. Im not much of a gamer so it doesnt affect me much

I guess the rom has something to do with it. I'm having problems with ICS and jb with quadrant. But with cm7 and a good kernel (faux123), my score reached almost 3000!

I checked and my 2nd core is also inactive, now i understand why my g2x has been slower. Does anyone know how to fix this, without changing my ROM? I'm running Hellfire sandwich 1.9, faux 123-050 kernel
someone please help

Hey thanks for pointing out the second core was inactive as well as the other minor bug of the date an time resetting. Adressing these issues, do you think another release will be made with fixes. I love this rom personally i think its more interactive with its user interface an adjustable themes.
My performance was lowered.. wait with the 2nd core inactive is deep sleep even possible? I noticed a minor battery drain with the wifi... thinking its just me..

Where can you get an update on the ROM? From the manufacturer?

I guess so. Only GB are stable with this phone. I always tried going 4.0+, no luck. I'm just ended up back with GB.
