Hello guys,
Is it important to use it or not? Im using greenify and i think when i enable the energy saver mode that my battery go faster down as normal. Anyway what is this zygote which shows in the CPU-List?

oh no:fingers-crossed:

greenify just pushes apps which is standing-by to sleep. if u want to really save energy, try setCpu (requires root)
if u use greenify, the energy saved is not so significant;
but if setCpu, u will see the difference!!
energy saving is quite important because it can extend your battery's life!
hope i can help you!

In fact it generally don't hurt your phone... it requires root and will just set the frequency of the cpu.
You can choose the frequency for your phone for different situations, like:
performance - when using apps that consumes many ram
ondemand - auto change the frequency, it will decide which governor is best for the time
powersave - save energy.
You can find the descriptions in the setCpu app, which is very informative and descriptive! ^^
Hope this helps!!

Set CPU Questions

I have a friend on an Android phone. Long story short, he needs to start having better battery life.
I know that having custom kernals allows for overclocking, but all he needs is the underclocking.
If I root his phone, set his profiles up without a custom kermal, would that still help his battery when setting up his max and min settings?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yes, SetCPU should lower battery consumption. Configure your screen off profile to underclock the CPU when the screen is shut off. You will need to have your phone rooted for this.
you should notice a significant gain of battery life. This thread should provide some more information.

Not necessarily. Underclocking can sometimes use more battery when your phone is active. With less power the process takes more time to activate and that means more juice. Search in threads for "underclock", you'll find more infos on the subject.
Hey guys, what I'm asking is does he specifically need a kernal? Or, can he rootv and JUST use Set CPU?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Imo, he would get better uc/oc results with a modified kernel.

to answer you, no he can use just root and setCPU.
custom kernels help alot. but its not required.
Firstly: What phone does your friend have? Make and model, Android OS version, etc.
Secondly: If your friend wants to seriously underclock his phone, tell him to look into low-voltage kernels. He would probably just be better off with a custom ROM and such. If he has a question, tell him to type it into Google and the answer will most likely pop up.
Thirdly: SetCPU will always help with performance/battery consumption, you just have to be rooted for it to work and learn how to set up profiles properly. Once again, Google is your friend.

Want to make your phone snappier...

Hey guys i found this app and thought it is worth sharing...
Use it whenever your phone lags..... See the difference in your phone after you use it... it really improves the phones performance!

Edit: you'll get more free memory with this...... see for yourselves..

It already helps by overclocking to 800 MHz/80 vsel with Milestone Overclock.

I overclock to 1 Ghz / 56 vsel and my phone is extremely stable. Im on dexters rom by the way. With the stock vsel I notice increased battery life. To increase memory I just use autokiller minfree, it modifies androids native way of dealing with apps. I use it on optimum which gives me around 60 mb free all the time. I also use ultimate juice defender which is really useful in saving battery life by toggling data and wifi for you when your screen is on or off. Give it a try.

Thnx...but I already use juice defender and if you didn't know autokiller consumes more battery and interferes a lot with the android native system so...is not that recommended by everyone!

I agree with you that task killers in general are probably bad, but Autokiller Memory Optimizer isn't a task killer. It's just a GUI to access and adjust the native Android memory manager minfree parameters. You should give it a try!

SetCpu Files.

Ok so I want to start using setcpu because I have heard it helps save the heck out of your battery. Is there anyone with a killer battery saving set up backup file that I could maybe restore on my phone? Also if I'm using nstool for CPU settings should I stop if I'm using setcpu? Please though, if you have a killer battery profile, please upload it and share with the world! Thanks.
Sent using Tapatalk, you know, the free version.
Setcpu and nstools work around the same way. Use nstools and lower your CPU clock speed to you desired amount where performance is balanced.

You use setCPU instead of NStools. The battery saving is in the screen off profiles. I have found that it doesn't help all that much on this phone. Just use SmartassV2 and you should be set

Which CPU governor are people using ?!

I was wondering which CPU governor are people using. I'm currently using the conservative governor for the sake of battery life however I've been reading into other governors and apparently the performance governor isn't as bad as people think it is. This was calculated from the fact that which the CPU is clocked at its max state, it performs it's functions quicker which leads to faster idle times.
My knowledge of CPU's isn't the best but I'm learning. So what are people using ?!

i use interactive too , by far the best battery consumption for my standard usage
Is their a way in which I can use the performance governor when gaming and in demand for like everyday use ?!

Yes, you can. Just install SetCPU. You can either buy it from Play Store or download it for free from XDA.

I already have SetCPU installed but I would have to do that manually as in every time I open the app. I was wondering is their an app which automatically scales the CPU once the app is open ?!

I personally use SetXperia for my CPU management but in the description for SetCPU it's said that you can assign different profiles for when an app is running. I will install it and check it out.
Edit: I just checked and it seems that the version provided for free in XDA is an old version and doesn't have this feature but the one from Play store has this feature. BTW thank you. I'm gonna use SetCPU instead of SetXperia from now on.

I've come across an app called "Per App Modes" which assigns different profiles depending on the app. It seems like what we're looking for

It seems so, but why have 2 apps managing CPU when we could do so using just one? I actually liked SetCPU's profile settings and intend to keep using it. Anyway thanks for introducing that useful app.

lg g4 warms easily

So I have had this for about two days well the first day it got really hot around the camera an topper screen portion so hot holding just was a no an it was just doing normal task no apps installed just browsing so I factory reset it an that helped but not completely
So I then rooted to see if I could change kernel settings well it looks like my cores are almost always running at max speed so I downloaded kernel auditor to change setting an that still always want to go to maximum clock speed so I so I lowered it an it was still just at maximum 90% of the time So I disabled some cores bringing cpu temp down to around 94/96 degrees Fahrenheit is this normal or is it just me
Sorry for scrub questions I only had a s4 before this which was much less complicated
Thanks in advance sorry if I was confusing
Maybe there are some app running in background..try checking the usage manager, ..using bloatware tool also helping it to cool down
tryed it

Tried safe mode an deleted a lot of bloat an it's just almost always like this except when screen off
Can you post screen shot of kernel auditor's frequency table? both of them..bigLittle
For me it was a circle case widget which was causing it to heat up. I used CPU monitor and found it. Closed that and it is fine since.

So I was looking an it won't let me list the screen shot but the little cores seem to push pass the limit just by touching the screen it will raise the maximum an minimum to 1248 then when I'm not settings go to normal
so that happened

Okit wouldn't let me add the picture so here's a link Screenshot_2015-08-14-10-32-17.png - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1amLS5fOK4ONUdVbk1UZEhRbDg/view?usp=docslist_api
I also have problems as above and unresolved
I've been playing with kernel settings for a week now
so far i've noticed something regarding battery life (SOT) and its temperature
If i set big cpu to ondemand and LITTLE to interactive(default) the battery life stays much longer but the phone feel hot..
then if i set big to interactive and LITTLE to ondemand, the phone itself doesn't heat much but the battery life became poor..
and if you noticed, big cpu seldoms reach more than 384mhz..that's most of the time it stays in lowest of it frequency table
Maybe we can experimenting it together and discuss about it here
