The new LG G3 allows customers to uninstall bloatware WITHOUT root! - Galaxy Note 3 General

http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-g3-review
If we pester Samsung on their Facebook page, do you think they will push out an update to let us do the same? There's so much crap on our phones that I wish I could uninstall.

I find it highly unlikely Samsung would allow such thing.
EDIT: Also, please enlighten me, where did you take that information from. Your link does not include such information.

The LG G3 AndroidCentral has for review is the Korean version and it is an early prototype.
Recently a law was passed in Korea which makes all bloatware pre-installed on a phone un-installable. This law is obeyed by all phone companies in Korea.
Since other countries have not taken such action against unwanted apps on phones, it is highly unlikely that Samsung or any other company will make bolatware removable in a future update.

They knocked back Kitkat for the S3 due to the bloatware in the rom needing too much RAM....I don't think they are gonna worry about people wanting to remove the bloatware, what they give you stays... Even if it means they won't update a Star phone...

I was under the impression that it had either happened or was in the process of happening.

Maybe it hasn't happened yet, but I do recall that it's been rolling out to some extent. I'll try to find a better source later.
Edit: Okay, so apparently the Korean S5 can remove some bloat.. but by the next iterations it should be happening :L

Feedback is just a feedback. They have company policy to follow. Thumb up if they can change any of their company/product policy, but so far I know seldom retailer will follow customer request.

Im sure the EU recently passed a bill that forces mobile manufactures to give end users the option to remove bloat ware? which is probably why LG has lead the way first.

I got an idea. How about give us stock android, and the bloat be uninstallable? Some of the bloat built in breaks things bit as apps would help ram and interface be smoother.

But the best option is to allow for the software to be uninstallable.
For those who want a phone and don't delve as deep into tech as the majority of users on these forums, all the in-built software is more than enough for them. For those who want more customisations, then we get the choice of uninstalling the programs.
Best of both worlds really, plus it's not forcing us to use their crap. Heck, we're still using their phones at least!
If the LG G3 released here in HK is 32GB/3GB then I'm gonna swap my Note 3 straight away.

I dont understand the disskussion about bloatware.. If you dont like it, buy another Phone or better use a 3310 Nokia ) nobody force you to buy a overbloated Phone and at least you can root and debloat it.. Even if your Phone is unrooted you can just deactivate any application

if this news are TRUE - then WOW WOW WOW. but based on what i've read from your posts guys - it is NOW for the KOREAN brand ' correct me if i'm wrong ' - so my Q although it is kinda stupid - will it be applied on international version of G3 ?. if the answer is NO then my next Q is will the KOREAN version work in my country ?

We're using the Korean Olleh (KT) variant of the phone — LG-F400K — running pre-release software, on the EE network in the UK.

Q - how is LG's attitude towards DEVELOPERS ? is it good ?

If LG comes like this NOTE 4 will have a pre-installed app called SAMSUNG S-ROOT:laugh:

Skype 2 video available

The latest Skype update for Android is available to everyone, but it only enables video chat on four specific handsets. Fortunately, impatient modders have gone some way to correcting this profound injustice, by creating APKs that activate video calling on other handsets too. So far we've heard of successful ports on the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation, Thunderbolt and EVO 4G. If you've got some other handset with Android 2.3, a little experimentation with the APK might also be worth your while. However, we just tried it on an Xperia Arc and didn't get very far: the app ran, but efforts to communicate with an Xperia Neo resulted in one-way video, a locked landscape mode and plenty of awkwardness. Let us know if you fare better -- you'll find a Thunderbolt-specific download at the DroidLife source link, and a more general APK at TechPetals.
http://blogs.skype.com/en/2011/06/smile_skype_for_android_with_v.html
Figured I would drop this in here if anyone has some know how and wants to look into it to see if there is anyway for us to have this on our phone. Doubt it though considering it requires 2.3 which seems to be the standard for google video chat and stuff, but hey, its worth a shot!!!
Found some more info. Tested and still didn't work but apparently on our device but confirmed on the SGS2. Here is the link for the guy who got it working.

Probably requires GB.... I would think
yep. the official requires gb and in the list of device check. with device check removed, almost all with gingerbread can use it.
man, so much we can't do without gb. This phone should have launched with it.

Yeah, one of Google's big thing at IO was that they wanted to eliminate the fragmentation, yet I haven't seen anything to indicate they're taking steps to achieve this.
Unfortunately it's one big advantage Apple has... they take a hard line position that the carrier doesn't touch the OS software, nor prevent the deployment of the updates. Not sure why Google is such a wuss when it comes to holding the carriers accountable for the timely delivery of their updates. AT&T says it's because they have to ensure a quality user experience, but comon, what AT&T customer actually believes that crap? LOL

hey, this is gonna sound like a really dumb question and way off topic but can you tell me how your notified when someone posts. I have always been one to read through forums daily but have never gotten too good at participating, as you might tell as I have been a member for 3 years and have very little posts. I personally have to try and remember the threads I participated in and see if someone replied. This seems very redundant but I don't see a better way to be notified. Thanks in advance
Is anyone's phone dying quickly after installing this. I even tried signing out and closing the app but my phone legit drains 10% an hour on standby. So I deleted the app. Now my wifi is turning on and off and can't keep a constant connection. Help?

I personally have seen no change since installing it, as for the wifi thing are you rooted and running any rom of sort of just stock? I have seen some wifi issues with the roms. Don't know if maybe the app sparked the problem or what but maybe you can backup your apps and reinstall. Good luck

The only true advantage that Apple has over Android is that they only more or less support one device. Android is spread amongst how many different devices? It's easy to put out lackluster updates to a single device, but putting out updates to 20+ different devices isn't so easy.
how are you guys even getting it to install? is it actually working?
yes please, can any one confirm that the video call on Skype is working on the infuse?
regards
no it is not working. installing the custom apk does give you the video call option, but if you press it, it goes into landscape to prepare for video call and then it does nothing. gingerbread is needed since it uses the frontfacing camera api.

Yes, my phone's battery started draining in about two hours after installing Skype, so I uninstalled and things are better again now.
Even if Skype supports video on the Infuse, I don't think I will start using it unless they address the battery usage.

[The Petition]**We Need Your Support**

As Galaxy S owners, we are all united. As Android users we are all united. As far as Samsung is concerned we are all NOT created equal. Our device, the Vibrant (SGH-T959), is now being left to the wayside for any future updates from Samsung even though our core specs are extremely similar to the Google Nexus S, which has already received the ICS update. The CyanogenMod team has left us due to the on-going issue of 911/e911 and the lack of the proper code from Samsung to alleviate a potentially fatal result of a custom ROM. It is our intentions to serve Samsung with a petition asking for the update to ICS, which will in-turn, alleviate the 911/e911 issue as well.
We are asking all Galaxy S users to sign this petition to get Samsung to reconsider giving all top end Galaxy S devices the ICS update. Please help us with our goal and sign the petition. If you are on a Galaxy S phone, this affects you too.
Thank you for reading this and please see this link for more details and this link to sign the petition.
Ok, since it was explained a bit better to me, I'm allowing this to be reopened, however, I'll be keeping an eye on it. Keep it civil.
Thank you, Ann.
thanks for the update..hope things look up !!
I plan to sign this petition, but I'm a bit confused about how it includes all SGS devices. The entire letter speaks specifically to the Vibrant. Is a new letter still being written? Or how is it being conveyed that all SGS owners are signing this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
The issue with the 3rd paragraph about how the Vibrant was released with 2.1 and then we fought for 2.2 only to be denied GB/ICS is in there to paint the picture of how consumer support has failed. It is specific to the Vibrant but the picture is for all Galaxy S users.
The CM team portion leaving the Vibrant is a problem (911/e911) that effects us all. For some reason they just dropped ONLY the Vibrant from their supported devices list b/c of this issue.
Still, we want to thank you for your support and help with this and hopefully they will at least listen to us.

let's be honest guys. Samsung did a logical thing by NOT giving us ICS update. I mean come on now.. even if they do decide to give us ICS, chances are it will be buggy as gs1 doesn't have enough memory to have ICS and TW... so really there is no point in giving us ICS, not only Samsung won't make any profit from doing this they might get flamed even more for making the phone slower buggier .. etc and
some people are saying they want stripped version of ICS on gs1 then why don't you just go buy yourself a nexus phone? Why would people buy nexus over galaxy when they're the same thing ? I could go on and rant about how samsung would have to meet terms with google, service providers and etc but ill stop here
Gingerbread from Samsung has been released. Rogers released it AGES ago.Gingerbread from AT&T has NOT been released.
your problem for Gingerbread is with AT&T. NOT SAMSUNG. Samsung released gingerbread to the carriers.
and to the post above, its not about buying an SG1 over a nexus, its about ALREADY OWNING SG1... and not enough memory for ics and touchwiz?? thats a propaganda lie. it would run fine. touchwiz consists of a launcher and a second (TW)framwork-res.apk and a few code changes to other system files. every rom has a laucher, so no loss there, wow extra 7mb framework... ohhh.. noo!

All carrier control the release of the updates, manufacturers create the updates for the phone, except for the Nexus line which is controlled by Google. The new exception to that might be the Verizon Nexus. The evidence is that the I-896 and I897 are the exact same phone, except one says ATT on the front.
Can someone explain this 911 issue? I mean how can you dial 911 and it won't work? IT seems like any number would work! I'm a bit confused by it, am I missing something? Thats seems like a phone being unable to dial, well Pizza hut, I dunno. It doesn't make sense.

I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something, but if you are going to disable all that Samsung software whats the point in getting an S4? It seems their software was the big upgrade this time around and the hardware less so.

I don't think Com2UsPoker, Adapt Sound, At&T Family Maps, ChoKUKor, YPmobile,TripAdvisor, BlurbCheckout, Match3VS, or most any software displayed in the screenshots are particularly unique to the GS4. I'm sure most of us will not lament the absence of the majority of the displayed list of applications. All in all, it's a rather rude of Samsung and AT&T to put all of that clearly invaluable software on a $700 phone, then make it uninstallable.

That bloatware is what is causing the lag online reviewers have been mentioning. If you disable/remove it, the phone will have no lag at all.
I'm hopeful to see some AOSP-based ROMS so I can remove the bloat known as TouchWIZ.

A better question why people are obsessed to have the latest android on the phone? Who cares which ANDROID version is running when most people are using third party software anyway. Every Android upgrade brings more and more restrictions. From my experience, I can't tell much difference between 4.x and 5.x android except the restrictions which prevents some of my apps from working properly, such as tasker, avast anti theft and etc. What do you expect to see in marshmallow and you can't see in Kit Kat with TW. Don't forget that most of the stuff you see in Note 5 is TW apps and are not native android apps except Dialer

Just do this. How messed up would it be if we had a locked bootloader?
They suck, but look at att and sprint forums.
It's a war and about $. But, I still love t-mobile.
What phone could we switch to and be happy? Those Google phones suck. What's an iPhone?

I hope you did not create this thread (dont know why really) just to gain sympathy since it does not shed any extra light or truly help out in any fashion. Sorry guys its not here and I am sure there is a good reason for it. But its not like we need to know. Your device is not rendered useless without Marshmallow so again the point is?
Sorry not trying to bash or berate anyone just think maybe the other half dozen threads asking and receiving the same treatment would be enough for some of you to realize its not that important....
I mean for crying out loud there are more important things like protecting Beyonce from the mean people saying she is a Black Panther.
peace out people

My guess is typical millennial kiddie posted a useless thread, gets called out, and rages about the forum or something. Mod delete.
..

Discuss all thing Galaxy S8/S8+ root

Here you go guys/gals. A thread where you can discuss anything you want concerning the S8 root or anything really! Yayyyyyy!
Two threads have been closed regarding root because of fellow members speaking out of topic.
Enjoy and be civilized!
Still waiting for US S8+ Snapdragon rooted with system R/W ENG ROM to be posted. Exynos S8/S8+ owners are fortunate that Samsung doesn't lock stuff down as tight as Qualcomm!
Will this method root my Moto Z Force 2 when it launches? /s

No
I have an idea. Why don't we put a nice little nifty first things to do when you get root list together?
Debloating, tweaking, themes, etc.
Personally I'm excited for the camera mods we will be able to perform now.
Sweet
Wanting to keep OTA updates off my phone, but as I mentioned in a previous thread, when I tried to run AdHell, it wanted to use the Samsung FIrewall, which seems to want to update knox, so I've avoided it for now... I've heard other say to use "package disabler," but I see a couple different versions (e.g. Package Disabler Pro by PoliceDeveloper, BK Package Disabler by WakaSoftware.com, etc), so wasn't sure exactly which one was recommended. Another option I was thinking of would be maybe to just use ADB, as I think I could probably disable the 2-4 update packages that way as well. Thoughts anyone?

No, this won't. This thread is for the Galaxy S8/S8+. I'm sure there is a thread for the Moto Z Force 2. Though I don't think the phone is even released yet and so it will probably be a while before root is achieved.

Samsung already has done a magnificent job with the camera.... What camera mods have there been for previous galaxy devices?
I think any package disabler will work... I use the BK one though and adhell....
Sorry to beat a dead horse with the 80% but....... Do all eng firmwares have this 80 percent limit

No need to apologize as I said we can speak of all things regarding the S8 root.
I personally have a battery case for my S8, invest in one its pretty darn great. It only cost me $30

Lol I know, I'm sure he/She was trolling though.
How much bigger is the note 8 compared to s8+

Is it still trolling when the OP says anything goes? I have been told that my humor is a little dry but damn. I thought that one was an obvious joke.
Was just a little giggle on my end while I wait for the actual 950U root release.
Lmao no not at all bro....it's just that it was funny to see that question in an S8 thread. Eitherway no shade, I replied with what I knew regarding the Force 2.
