Hey guys,
So I was having some ghost touching issues with my TF700, so I decided to replace the digizer. Got it all torn down, removed digitizer from the LCD, but realized the digitizer has some weird mount on it. While trying to remove the old digitizer from the mount, the whole thing shattered. I was able to get the center glass out, but their is a bunch still attached to the mount. Any suggestions on how to get the other glass? Ive cut myself like 3 times, and only able to get off little fragments at a time. Any help would be appreciated. Ive attached some photos too.

The issue apparently was that it was stuck with a heat based adhesive. I had to heat it up, then could remove the glass. Still wasnt easy. Replaced the gorilla glass digitizer, but I couldnt get it to fully seat back into the frame. I had to duct tape the sides, so nothing would leak into it. But at least its working again
Hope you still have fingers to use it and no blood smudges
Get a case to cover the duct tape > good as new! LOL
Good job. I wouldn't have had the nerves to try it.....

I had to replace the digitizer since it was cracked from a drop. It works great however now the top half of the LCD screen is messed up, it has banding. I was just wondering if anyone ever experienced this with anything before and if it is a damaged LCD or just a connection issue. I'll be taking it apart again and messing with the ribbon cable, I was just curious if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks!

I had that exact issue with my ipod touch. Your LCD is bad bro, if its anything like replacing an ipod touch LCD, youll be fine, search youtube for installment videos.

Yeah replacing the LCD is basically the same as digitizer replacement which I just did so I should be good there. I think I flexed it too much when prying it from the metal casing. Oh well.
Thanks for the input!
Sorry to resurect this old thread, but I've got this problem, too. The thing is, it's a coworker's phone and they asked me to help them replace their digitizer. OK, so they bought a new digitizer and I replaced it. I was extremely careful and don't think I flexed the LCD too much, but now when I power it on, I get the same banding that you posted.
Is it possible that the banding could be from a bad digitizer?? Or possibly something else? I'd really hate to ask this person to spend another $40 on a new LCD if they don't have to.
Ugh, that's why I kick myself for helping other people sometimes! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
Hey guys, I really need help because I have no idea what to do right now.
A chunk of the microusb slot chipped off and now my phone looks really bad :O
Is there any case that covers this up (ie those $1-2 silicone cases on eBay)? Or is there anywhere I can buy a cheap replacement housing set to fix it?
Here's a picture...

Well, when I bought the phone off my sister, there used to be a crack around that area, so I just ignored it. Today, I took it out of its leather pouch and found that the part was missing
Anyways, thanks for the help. this'll do the trick right?

Yup, just like mine. They can be a pain when pulling it out of your pocket (sticky/rubbery) but I dont put my phone in my pocket.

Awesome. I purchase a blue silicone one for $2.30 off eBay. I hope it'll cover it up because right now if feels like I have OCD (I was thinking that I should sell my captivate on craigslist just because of this little chipped off piece of plastic lol).
Thanks for you help
The title says it all my lil dog stepped on my scratch leaving a scratch, minor but when screen is off is notable. Any clue?

There's a display polish out there you can try, I used it on a "dumb phone" back in the days with great results (and a bit of work).
http://www.amazon.com/Displex-Display-Scratch-Remover-screens/dp/B00355WCWG was the one I used. And of course, use at your own risk since wrong handling might make it worse.

You could try a screen protector but the damage is done and I would never try to polish it because there is a coating on the glass and this may happen

The damage is done, I would just accept the scratch and move on. I've never seen anyone with luck getting scratches out without the screen looking worse overall. Get a screen protector and use it. Protectors aren't a perfect solution, but as they get scratched, you can easily replace them. I actually found I like the feeling of the one on my Note. It gives just enough friction to simulate drawing on paper.
Hi all.
My regular watch get broken so I decided to buy some smartwatch. I bought MN2 because of low price (only cheaper smartwatch is ****ty live view), but it was too thick and had this strange charging cable. So I made it thinner and put miniusb port. There are some pics from creation:
First I disassembled clip, cut off clip mountings and cut out hole for this metal thing for custom straps.

}
Then I cut out hole for micro usb
soldering...
...and glue
side view of port
The metal thing is going to be a back partition of watch now, so it must be abraded because of battery and vibration motor.
and glued
I painted it with silver paint. It looks that bad because glue was too fresh and I couldn't abrade it. Now it's hard enough but it's on back so I don't care at this moment. Also metal thing got some schratches in progress.
there you can see how thin it is
and how it looks with custom strap
After few days of using I don't like it Waking it up for seeing time is annoying, and what is more important there is no some notifications icon with clock. So if I'd like to see notifications I must wake him up and tap once again to see anything. Taking out phone is faster I'm using it only for running and I can't sold it because of this modifications. Damn my creativity
Sorry for language
Great job on the mod. Pretty badass!

I'm glad to see that "the tinkerer clan" is not dead ... yet ... kudos buddy !
That's exactly same as my idea, but I don't dare to make it real. Thankyou! May be I will make it like you do!
What kind of glue is that?
Would this Fine Point Stylus scratch the screen?

Not sure but a lot of Amazon reviews indicate that it tends to produce micro scratches, so I would weary about buying this.

Well, its not a fine tip writing one, but I use an ampen stylus for my stuff.
That's not a fine tipped stylus, there's actually a small disc on the end of it. The tip is just a ball and the disc has a socket that allows for the capacitive screen to work. I have had a mini and a pro since the transformer tf101 and I've never had a single scratch, just wipe the disc with your finger before you start using it.

I had the Jot Pro stored in some drawer in my home , so after digging and finally finding it, for the 'sake of science' I decided to take one for the team and be the Guinea pig in testing it with my Nexus 9.
I'm happy to report that the little disc on this stylus against the Gorilla-3 glass does not seem to affect in any way the surface, and I was surprised to find this tablet to be much more responsive to this particular stylus than my previous Nexus 7 tablets (both versions). Granted, I've in using this stylus only for a few minutes but results seem to remain the same over extended usage. :fingers-crossed:
