Replaced Digitizer, LCD messed up - Thunderbolt General

I had to replace the digitizer since it was cracked from a drop. It works great however now the top half of the LCD screen is messed up, it has banding. I was just wondering if anyone ever experienced this with anything before and if it is a damaged LCD or just a connection issue. I'll be taking it apart again and messing with the ribbon cable, I was just curious if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks!

I had that exact issue with my ipod touch. Your LCD is bad bro, if its anything like replacing an ipod touch LCD, youll be fine,search youtube for installment videos.

Yeah replacing the LCD is basically the same as digitizer replacement which I just did so I should be good there. I think I flexed it too much when prying it from the metal casing. Oh well.
Thanks for the input!

Sorry to resurect this old thread, but I've got this problem, too. The thing is, it's a coworker's phone and they asked me to help them replace their digitizer. OK, so they bought a new digitizer and I replaced it. I was extremely careful and don't think I flexed the LCD too much, but now when I power it on, I get the same banding that you posted.
Is it possible that the banding could be from a bad digitizer?? Or possibly something else? I'd really hate to ask this person to spend another $40 on a new LCD if they don't have to.
Ugh, that's why I kick myself for helping other people sometimes! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Damage to LCD or Digitizer?

Hola all...I've appreciated this forum's unsolicited help a great deal over the past year and now have an issue I could use some more direct assistance with...
I recently dropped my phone face down and this is what happened.
Looks like cracking but the front of the phone is still completely smooth...
Then I thought perhaps the LCD was cracked...but it is still functioning perfectly well...visually and through tactile input...
So would this be a case of the digitizer being damaged or the screen? both?
I've found both pieces on Ebay reasonably priced and would like to give this a go...I'm pretty proficient with repairs...
Thanks!

Accept my appologies for the rather shoddy pics.
digitizer cracked
though you should search the forum, or look down a few threads
digitizer is glued to LCD, really difficult to separate without killing the LCD, the cables from digitizer/LCD,...
up to you to try...
Get the digitizer and lcd together as 1 unit, can be picked up for around $40 off ebay and its really easy to change if you have a little experience at repairing these sort of things.
The service manual can be found easy enough and describes how to dismantle the phone.
Seperating the 2 units as stated above is tricky.
I have also replaced a digitizer and lcd as 2 seperate units and they need to be soldered together and also stuck together with a gasket that you will need to make yourself. For the few extra $ buy the unit as one. Its much less hassle.

I have bought many spares from the and it is alway good service.

i brock the digitizer glass on new years lol too much booooooz i gonna replace it soon

I remember i saw some replacement on brandoshop, but you're better off sending it for repair, disassembly of a modern phone isn't complicated nowadays, but reassembly is a real pain, i can assure you...
i wonder how much it would cost to get a new front casing?
Take a look at this. There are others a lot more expensive, and HTC do one for about £40. I've seen them going for on average £20 but the one on the link is the cheapest I've seen.
I just replaced the housing, digitizer and buttons on mine.. to all black.
Looks like a totally different phone.

Z3 (D6616) Screen Crack Replacement?

Hi guys.
Like a lot of you, I had my Z3, and loved it until the screen was cracked. I've since moved on from my second Z3 (D6616) on Tmo, to an iPhone 6 Plus on Verizon (which I hate, and will be getting a Z3v in the coming weeks).
Anyway, I'm tired of looking at this Z3 with a cracked screen. Phone is totally good (other than the crack), clean IMEI, etc. I want to get some money back out of it, so I am thinking about fixing it. I've seen tear down guides, but I'm not clear on what I need to buy.
I've found LCD screens (with the digitizer) for ~$165, but I've also found the digitizer alone for like $32, from China. I believe the digitizer is all I need to buy, but looking for confirmation on that.
So in it's current state, the phone powers on, screen looks fine and I can see everything like I'm supposed to, but the touch screen no longer works, and the outermost part of the screen is cracked. Here is a pic:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So with this, can anyone confirm what I need to buy? Is it only the digitizer, (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item58ba5534c7) or the LCD w/ digitizer (http://www.smartphonebay.net/LCD-Screen-for-Sony-Xperia-Z3-D6603-p/lcdp-syd6603-ass.htm)?
You can replace just the digitizer but, it will be a little hard. You need to use a heat gun and slowly pry the LCD shards away from the LCD. Then when replacing you need to make sure there is no dust between the LCD and digitizer. I forgot you also need a UV curing glue to do it.
Ick, too much work. Guess I'll be buying the LCD (with digitizer) for $165 after all. Based on guides/YouTube vids, replacing that isn't too difficult.
Thanks!
Yep, just do the full replacement, even if you gave it to a repair shop they would only do the full replacement.

"liquid" crack on my screen

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum and to solving technical problems in general, so thank you very much in advance for helping me out with your suggestions on this one.
I noticed a transparent crack on my screen, and everyday started to expand almost like a leacking fluid, making smaller "cracks" on the way and expanding them further in time. I don't know how this incident happened, but it doesn't affect at all the touchscreen functionality in that area, but it just looks bad, like a crack (but is not).
Did anyone had a similar problem and can tell me what is it and some suggestions on how to solve it, please? I truly don't have any clue from where to start. Please check the photos attached!

Looks like the glass and digitizer are separating, replacing the glass should fix it. Or the digitizer itself is separating, replacing the digitizer will fix that.

That is the glue that keeps the touch glued with the screen, that could happend becouse of a bad glue or maybe humidity?
Also heat can affect the glue too.

S10e display manufacturing error?

Hi guys
I am really having some trouble loving my S10e. The phone would be great - if it wasn't for the screen. The glass is simply glued on the front and thus sticks out by 0.75mm. The corners are not rounded but quite sharp. When I put the phone to my ear, the sharp end scratches my ear and it feels uncomfortable. On top of that, with the glass being exposed like that, it obviously lead to it cracking within the first 3 weeks (see

).
Is this the same for all S10e? I have searched the Internet for any reviews or complaints mentioning this issue, to no avail. I simply can't believe that this is normal (I have never seen a phone with the glass glued on like that).
Cheers,
Will
This sounds like a faulty handset to me. You'll need to see if you can get it replaced under warranty.
Unfortunately as with all Android phones, this will mean sending your current handset off somewhere and waiting up to 2 weeks to have it inspected, repaired or replaced. You'll need to make sure you have a spare handset lying around. This is one of the things I hate about Androids compared to iPhones. Maybe try putting on a case to see if it helps?
If you had an iPhone, you'll have been able to book an appointment and have your iPhone replaced the same day.
Hey Wutang, thanks a lot for your reply! And all along I thought the glass being glued on like that was (a little silly but) normal for the S10e. I have contacted Samsung again, so I guess we will see.
