S10e display manufacturing error? - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

Hi guys
I am really having some trouble loving my S10e. The phone would be great - if it wasn't for the screen. The glass is simply glued on the front and thus sticks out by 0.75mm. The corners are not rounded but quite sharp. When I put the phone to my ear, the sharp end scratches my ear and it feels uncomfortable. On top of that, with the glass being exposed like that, it obviously lead to it cracking within the first 3 weeks (see

).
Is this the same for all S10e? I have searched the Internet for any reviews or complaints mentioning this issue, to no avail. I simply can't believe that this is normal (I have never seen a phone with the glass glued on like that).
Cheers,
Will

This sounds like a faulty handset to me. You'll need to see if you can get it replaced under warranty.
Unfortunately as with all Android phones, this will mean sending your current handset off somewhere and waiting up to 2 weeks to have it inspected, repaired or replaced. You'll need to make sure you have a spare handset lying around. This is one of the things I hate about Androids compared to iPhones. Maybe try putting on a case to see if it helps?
If you had an iPhone, you'll have been able to book an appointment and have your iPhone replaced the same day.

Hey Wutang, thanks a lot for your reply! And all along I thought the glass being glued on like that was (a little silly but) normal for the S10e. I have contacted Samsung again, so I guess we will see.

That Annoying GSM Buzzing - Stop it!

So I was on YouTube today just browsing through videos and I stumbled upon this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzCZQOsdROc
Well, like the sucker I am, I was going to go to the website and and see how much they wanted for it so I could buy one, because I just HATE THAT STUPID BUZZING!
Went to the site: http://stopthebuzzin.com/
Was looking at pictures:

Hmm... Looks like it could be anything. Who knows what makes it work.
And then I saw this picture:
Wow, they're silver, but they're semi-transparent! That's just like... an anti-static bag!
So in my infinite wisdom, I went to my cache of antistatic bags and pulled one out. I turned my stereo on and set the phone right in front of it. "Buzzzzzz buzzz buzzzzzzz" came from the speakers. So, I moved it on top of the anti-static bag... and it was GONE!
So yeah, they're just selling mini anti-static bags that come with any new computer part that you buy. You could probably get them for free from your local computer shop.
If you have one laying around... try it! It works!
Great find! I'm surprised I never thought of this, never really annoyed me enough to do research on it.
Now I just need an anti-static bag large enough to house my laptop, which also causes this, but is far worse.
So basically it's an RF shield like most electronics have inside them. However, your phone depends on certain RF frequencies being transmitted, so I can be reasonably certain that using an RF shield could certainly also reduce reception.
So while you could shield nearby wires/speakers, etc, shielding the phone itself would certainly be a bad idea.

[Q] white spots on screen?

So last night I was grabbing a beer from the fridge and a pan of leftover lasagna was about to fall out. I saved the lasagna but I lost my grip on my transformer and it hit the kitchen tile floor from about 4 feet. I panicked when it happened, the bezel popped slightly out if place and the screen cut off, fortunately the bezel snapped back into place and the LCD didn't shatter, everything is fine but one thing.
In the center of the screen there are a few white blotches. It resembles backlight bleeding sort of, it only shows up on dark backgrounds. Here's an example I tried to take with my phone.

Does anyone have a remedy? Is this covered under asus warranty?
Try your luck and tell them it was defective from date of purchase.
it did have backlight bleeding, but this was my 3rd try an dit wasn't so bad as the others so I dealt with it. Should be terms for a new display altogether I guess.
The thing that worries me is that I have a pretty bad knick in the corner from it scraping against something a few months ago. Its sanded down however.
I tried calling the number on my warranty card but its was busy. Its the day after Christmas, go figure.
lol SAVE THE LASAGNA! I too have some waiting in the fridge since Christmas.
But seriously, people have complained about white blotches appearing spontaneously so I don't really think it would be that bad to just tell Asus that it appeared on its own. Though they might reject you on the basis of the sanded down edge/corner whatever and claim physical damage. You're welcome to try and convince them it's only superficial. I think you'll get through.

[RANT] What a good quality screen

So, I was talking on the phone in bed and this is what has happened to my phone.

I always did this on my HTC Magic (MT3G) and this never happened in the year I had it. After using my phone like I always had, the backlight has come loose, the screen glue connecting the LCD to the glass has come loose, and now my phone looks awful. I am extremely displeased.
Protip: do not ever put your face on your phone if you intend on hands free usage.
i'm pretty much sure they would fix it under warranty

I'm well aware they would, but it's a pain in the ass since I pretty much always need my phone and my MT3G is half broken.
My point was more that this phone has not gone through even 2 months of usage and it is already damaged; what's to say this won't happen again even with a replacement? I use my technology of all sorts very heavily, and I was hoping that an HTC phone would once again get me what I wanted. This has not shown to be the case. Anecdotal evidence, sure, but it has happened to me and it is quite possible that it could happen again.
sad to see that, even with that hugely obscene glob of glue they put in there...
Sucks that you'll be without a device for a few days, but warranty service should take care of it.
If you wanted to use your paid warranty on it you wouldn't be without a phone since you'd get the new one in before you had to ship the old one out, but that does count as a strike against your paid warranty...
Wish I had some words to make it better...

Protective Soft TPU Back Cover Case(Only $2,40!)

Hi all,
Around 2 weeks ago I found the following cover on the internet. It was only $2,40 so I decided to buy it and try it out. I was kinda skeptical to the quality since it was so cheap, but honestly the quality is rather good! I have been using it for a day now and I have to say, for a case this cheap it feels great. It's nice to have in your hands, I personally like the design. Also it has quite a rubbery feel which feels nice in your hands and also helps it laying on slippery surfaces. Also it is flexible, not too much though. I feel like it will definitely protect my phone if I might drop it or anything like that. The only thing I don't like too much is that the hard buttons are also covered by the cover. However this is not that a big deal, they still function nicely.
Here are some pictures of the cover itself.

Here is one of the cover used on the phone
If any of you guys would like to order this here you have a direct link to the cover:http://dx.com/p/protective-soft-tpu-back-cover-case-for-samsung-galaxy-s4-i9500-transparent-201232
This link is for the transparent one I am using, they also have it in black if you prefer that. So if you are looking for a cheap, but good quality cover for your phone I would definitely recommend this one! Also the ordering process is quick, and delivery to Holland only took around 10 days. You also don't have to pay shipping fees so you have a cover for only $2,40. Worth a try right?
For anyone worrying it says GT-I9500, this also fits on the GT-I9505 version since the phones are exactly the same in size etc.

[Q] Open gap at front / faulty unit?

I have noticed a really annoying problem with my N5
On the bottom front side, there is this nasty gap between the screen glass and the housing (marked in red in the picture).

It has a diameter of about a third of a milimeter and is diligently collecting dust and dirt. To make things worse, it is nearly not possible to get the dirt out of it again, since it is to small for the fingernails. I always have to use the edge of a paper to clean it up
Does anybody else have this gap?
If not, I'll contact Google to get a replacement.
I don't
stag
Now that you mention it, I believe the "lower" seems a bit wider than the others.
However no dust-collecting at all - at least not more the the other gaps.
Also I never experience much dust-collecting in contrast to many other users. (May be due to using ALWAYS a sleeve when I put it in my pocket.)
Mine is like that to. It's a pain to clean it out.
Mine has the gap on the bottom too... I use a thin needle to remove the parts of dust from there.
I hope LG will assembly the cover better, with no gap, in the future revisions...
I contacted Google Play support and indicated the problem, because I also have the gap at the bottom. I need to use a piece of paper to remove the dust.
I had to send them photos, and now they say that they will replace the phone. Two friends of mine (one got the white 32gb, and one got the black 32gb) dont have the gap, but myself and another friend who ordered the black 32gb on the very first day have the gap. So may be it is a production defect that possibly may be fixed now?
Just contacted Google... replacement unit is on its way
The Google Play replacement service is really great! This is a better service than you could expect from a local store.
