Not sure but a lot of Amazon reviews indicate that it tends to produce micro scratches, so I would weary about buying this.

Well, its not a fine tip writing one, but I use an ampen stylus for my stuff.
That's not a fine tipped stylus, there's actually a small disc on the end of it. The tip is just a ball and the disc has a socket that allows for the capacitive screen to work. I have had a mini and a pro since the transformer tf101 and I've never had a single scratch, just wipe the disc with your finger before you start using it.

I had the Jot Pro stored in some drawer in my home , so after digging and finally finding it, for the 'sake of science' I decided to take one for the team and be the Guinea pig in testing it with my Nexus 9.
I'm happy to report that the little disc on this stylus against the Gorilla-3 glass does not seem to affect in any way the surface, and I was surprised to find this tablet to be much more responsive to this particular stylus than my previous Nexus 7 tablets (both versions). Granted, I've in using this stylus only for a few minutes but results seem to remain the same over extended usage. :fingers-crossed:
DISCLAIMER: the report of this is based on pure anecdotic experience so use this as you see fit and with caution as I can't and won't be liable for any damage resulting from your own experience.

Hey, didn't know where or how to figure this out so hopefully someone around here has some recommendations.
Despite my hours and hours on google I have not successfully been able to find exactly what I am looking for.
I want a ballpoint pen + stylus that is retractable (not twist). Black ink only.
Price range $25-$100.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks
Here you are sir, even if you buy A LOT of them, it would still fit your pricerange

(They wont fit your PDA, but they write, and they tap I speak from experience )
PaperMate makes a very nice unit described as:
Paper Mate(R) PhD(TM) Multi(TM) Multipurpose Writing Instrument, Pen/Pencil/PDA Stylus, Medium 1.0 mm Point Pen, Fine 0.5 mm Point Pencil, Blue
Available through amazon for around $8 US (Until we devalue the $ again)
Try and get a T-Mobile Ameo (Athena) stylus/ pen, it works a treat, and all you need to do is turn the pen over (roll it over in your hand) retract and deploy the writing end to get either a ball point tip or plastic stylus - Mike
The Space pen is very good but I think it's outside this price range
hm, space pen?
parker do one for £10, it has a biro, proppelling pencil and a stylus.

The one I bought had a stylus tip at one end so you'd need to make sure it had that.
Has anyone tried a capacitive stylus on the Desire? I have two different types here and both you have to press reasonably hard to get any response.. Anyone else tried them?
No. May I ask why you would want to use a stylus?
I thought it would be fun to try and to avoid constant greasy marks all over the screen.
I bought one from Deal Extreme a couple of weeks ago and they're handy for precision input (e.g. VNC) or running Linux. Yeah I find I do have to push relatively hard.

I'm inclined to agree then. Maybe good for games then. I have a few of the damn things now.

Ive tried both the Griffin and Targus stylus. They are great for the winter so you can use your phone without having to take off your gloves.
I've created concepts of what near-future phones should look like,
This particular phone is a Slab / Monolith design, Hope you like it, if u do you can always
retweet this http://twitter.com/#!/Pixeltology/status/83978281304596481 , it helps more than you think.

Post your thoughts below
I like it. It has a certain appeal. As long as it is sufficiently thin, I think the block or slab look of it could work.

My calculations is that it would be around 10mm thick. a little thicker than an iPhone but not noticeable ( iPhone is 9.4 i believe )

That would be right at perfect, then. It could probably even go to 11mm. As that is the thickness of my HD2, which received praise from a friend for being very thin.

I can do some metal working, so I can probably make this phone by using another phone's internals. uhm...

Available for the 10.1 only so far and hearing the rumours that 8.9 is being discontinued I am not holding my breath big frown...tears almost.
I have a business idea that is revolving around the use of this tablet outdoors for mapping and utilising the 4G network.
I mean what gives? In Australia they don't even offer any other size in the 4G tablet? Its 8.9 or nothing. Surely they would make more accessories give that....ohhh but no!!!
If anyone can source me one of these tough cases I will donate! Promise! I am deadly serious now
This is about as close as I can buy AFAIK?

That is very nice for the money. Gives pretty good protection but the tab stays slim.
It looks exactly like the one I bought from amazon. Good little case, made of hard rubber, but still keeps the tab thin and light. I also have a leather portfolio cover, which is nice cause i can type easily in landscape, but the linked cover is amazing for reading books, as there is no flap in the way while reading.
i have a vipertek one i got from amazon for 20$. good quality. not a tough case but it gets the job done.

I just got one of these and its... okay.
In trying to keep it slimline, the 'long' edge has minimal overlap on the screen with the result that, in portrait mode, the case folds back where your hands are in contact with it.
Its better than nothing but not exactly what I would call rugged.
I happened to find this little gem on Ebay when i was just browsing items for my Galaxy Note 8.
When you are not using it as a keyboard, it doubles as a protective case.
You place the Note 8 either in portrait or landscape-mode in the slot above the keys and it then looks sort of like a netbook. I personaly do not like the other types of case/keyboards out there as they often get bulky and sometimes they do not look to well with nothing to really hold the tablet in place except maybe a rubberband or just a sleeve where the tablet sits quite badly while you type.
As i said before, the keyboard works as a protective case when you are carrying the Note 8 with you. It snaps on to the front of the screen with a good fit and there are no buttons, irports, speakers or usbport blocked while the case is attached.
The keyboard has home and back buttons as well as eight other fuctions such as copy/paste and play/pause for media. It is charged through a microUSB-cable that is included in the package.
I dont use it as much as i thought i would, and sometimes i touch the screen with a finger while typing on the upper row of keys (the number-keys). other than that it works well, easy to connect via bluetooth.
I could also see myself paying a little more for a version with sturdier plastic as it does not feel really safe to place the tablet in portrait-mode, the plastic above the number-keys tend to buckle and i guess repetitive use could break the plastic completely.
I found it here on ebay
and here are some pictures and a video:
