Has anyone tried a capacitive stylus on the Desire? I have two different types here and both you have to press reasonably hard to get any response.. Anyone else tried them?
No. May I ask why you would want to use a stylus?
I thought it would be fun to try and to avoid constant greasy marks all over the screen.
I bought one from Deal Extreme a couple of weeks ago and they're handy for precision input (e.g. VNC) or running Linux. Yeah I find I do have to push relatively hard.

I'm inclined to agree then. Maybe good for games then. I have a few of the damn things now.

Ive tried both the Griffin and Targus stylus. They are great for the winter so you can use your phone without having to take off your gloves.

How long do you think we will be waiting for some nice custom black housing/trackballs for the Nexus etc?
Also has anyone stripped one yet and how hard was the process?
Just wondering as I used to do this a lot when I was a CrackBerry addict and loved switching the look of my 9000 up.
Keeping my fingers crossed!

Colorware? They'll tear apart/rebuild the phone for you, but I believe (Not sure x.x) that you get to keep the old parts so you can switch between the two.

Hmm, except I have to buy new cause I'm in the UK, and with shipping that will total $925 (£625) Is there a service like this in Europe does anyone know?
hi folks,
is it possible to replace the front casing on the HTC desire? My Wife keeps dropping hers, so its pretty bashed around the top..
Cheers,
Mick

I remember i saw some replacement on brandoshop, but you're better off sending it for repair, disassembly of a modern phone isn't complicated nowadays, but reassembly is a real pain, i can assure you...
i wonder how much it would cost to get a new front casing?
Take a look at this. There are others a lot more expensive, and HTC do one for about £40. I've seen them going for on average £20 but the one on the link is the cheapest I've seen.
I just replaced the housing, digitizer and buttons on mine.. to all black.
Looks like a totally different phone.

Not difficult at all to disassemble and reassemble {Look on uTube for HTC Desire Assembly/Dis-assembly videos].
cool, might give that a go!
Really nice man. Good job

Post your thoughts below
I like it. It has a certain appeal. As long as it is sufficiently thin, I think the block or slab look of it could work.

My calculations is that it would be around 10mm thick. a little thicker than an iPhone but not noticeable ( iPhone is 9.4 i believe )

That would be right at perfect, then. It could probably even go to 11mm. As that is the thickness of my HD2, which received praise from a friend for being very thin.

Lol...cause manufacturers only have to produce accessories for 1 device, rather than the (insert number here) Android devices that are on the market.
I don't believe that there is a bluetooth keyboard like that created for the Inspire/DesireHD. You could get any old bluetooth keyboard, but it won't work if you're running a Sense ROM (they don't contain the proper bluetooth stack), which is probably why no one's bothered to manufacture something like this, because it would only be useful to rooted users
DOH! Sence has a weakness... bluetooth stack... they rele need to fix it asap! lol the case reminded me alot of my old Tilt2 thats y i was interested.
I do wish that they had some sort of keyboard case.. This was my first smartphone and so I didn't care about having a keyboard or not, but I really really really miss a keyboard now. I guess the next time that I get a phone, it's going to be one with a keyboard.
Would this Fine Point Stylus scratch the screen?

Not sure but a lot of Amazon reviews indicate that it tends to produce micro scratches, so I would weary about buying this.

Well, its not a fine tip writing one, but I use an ampen stylus for my stuff.
That's not a fine tipped stylus, there's actually a small disc on the end of it. The tip is just a ball and the disc has a socket that allows for the capacitive screen to work. I have had a mini and a pro since the transformer tf101 and I've never had a single scratch, just wipe the disc with your finger before you start using it.

I had the Jot Pro stored in some drawer in my home , so after digging and finally finding it, for the 'sake of science' I decided to take one for the team and be the Guinea pig in testing it with my Nexus 9.
I'm happy to report that the little disc on this stylus against the Gorilla-3 glass does not seem to affect in any way the surface, and I was surprised to find this tablet to be much more responsive to this particular stylus than my previous Nexus 7 tablets (both versions). Granted, I've in using this stylus only for a few minutes but results seem to remain the same over extended usage. :fingers-crossed:
