I have a problem with my Sony Xperia J ST26i. It's rooted and unlocked.
Now I can start my mobile but he has no signal. Phone says there is no SIM card. If have my SIM card inserted. I have only wifi signal.
When I dial *#06# on my phone I see the display as shown in the attachment.
And with MTK Droid Tool I can't change/restore my IMEI. See also the screenshot of MTK. It says --- Unknown ROM structure, backup NOT possible!
Is there a another way to restore my IMEI? Also I have no .nv_data file. It's not on my phone. Have anyone this file for My phone or another solution?

Thanks for the reply.
PCC restore is not an option. I haven't make one. So I go look on the internet for a custom ROM flash.
If wont work after you flash rom again... just relock and then unlock phone bootloader again!

Hi. I have a similar problem.
Phone (xperia J) is working fine with stock rom, rooted and unlocked bootloader. But when i flash custom rom there is no IMEI, no signal and no efs folder (nv_data file). And if I go back to stock rom the IMEI is back and mobile network works.
So my question is is there any way to transfer IMEI, recreate efs folder, so I can use custom roms?
I have to post 10 times before I can post links outside this forum.

Use it at your own risk. Read this text first before you get started.
If you follow these steps your phone is back to the original settings. You have your signal back and you IMEI.
Now you want your phone rooted! Right? Right!
For rooting Sony Xperia J 11.0.A.7.5 version, 11.2.A.0.21, 11.2.A.0.31 (and or later) using ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery necessitating an unlocked bootloader (unlocked bootloader).
Broadly speaking, the rooting procedure using CWM recovery to install su, busybox and Superuser.apk files bundled in the update. The steps are: flash CWM, rooting package update using CWM recovery, then flash the stock kernel back.
Preparation:
1. Fastboot files here
2. Unlock Boatloader.
3. CWM Sony Xperia J (boot.img)
4. Sony Xperia J stock kernel 11.0.A.7.5 (kernel.sin), can be extracted from the image ftf.
5. Update file for rooting (root_xperia_signed.zip
Update March 8, 2013:
All the required files in the download is packaged in the following:
- Version 11.0.A.7.5
- Version 11.2.A.0.21
- Version 11.2.A.0.31 (May 30, 2013)
The steps:
1. Root_xperia_signed.zip copy files to the internal / external sdcard.
2. Prepare boot.img, kernel.sin, fastboot.exe into the working folder. (Make self a folder on you PC Harddisk)
3. Prepare boot.img, kernel.sin, fastboot.exe into the working folder.
Turn off the phone, unplug the USB cable and go into fastboot mode by pressing and holding down the Vol + Up while plugging in the USB cable, fastboot mode can be seen from the blue LED light on the top panel.
4. Check whether the connection is correct fastboot, type in Command Prompt:
fastboot getvar version
If prompt <waiting for device> is displayed, then the connection is not successful, try to check whether the driver for fastboot already installed.
5. Flash CWM and restart the phone:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
6. When the phone restarts, observe the LED on the bottom of the panel when it turns purple, immediately press and hold the Vol + Up button until the LED turns blue to get into CWM. USB cable can then be removed.
7. At CWM, select install zip from sdcard, then choose zip from sdcard / external sdcard and select the file in step 1 above. Continue reboot system now and turn off the phone (if necessary by removing the battery and repeat to enter fastboot mode).
8. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
9. Flash stock kernel:
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
fastboot reboot
10. Turn on the phone, check whether the application is installed SuperSU. Congratulations rooting successful.

Thanks, but that's not what i needed.
I already have stock rom rooted and working. Problem is if I install custom rom (FXP, PA), rom starts but no mobile signal and no IMEI. So I cannot use it.
Is there a way to like "copy/paste" IMEI from stock rom to custom rom?
edit: read somewhere on xda that this is a CM10 bug and CM10 based roms for xperia J.
disregard my last post (and previous post also)
fixed it!
what I did:
1. flash original stock ICS rom - 11.0.A.7.5.CE
2. reboot phone and then shutdown (not sure if this is necessary)
3. flash CWM img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034639
4. install custom rom (FXP233)
5. reboot
and now mobile signal works and IMEI is back.
hope it helps somebody and sorry for hijacking your thread Stoetel

Here you can find the latest Android 4.0.4 version for the Sony Xperia Tipo ST21
And here the CWM for Tipo.
Kernel can you extract from the ftf file. You can open th ftf file with Winzip or Winrar.
Flashtool. You can also use this program to check if your phone is bootlocked.
Go check this site if you need your phone to unlock the bootloader.
Follow the instructions above in the previous post. Or search on this forum for the solution.
Good luck.

Hello all, I am trying to stick a recovery such as Clockworkmod on my Xperia J which is currently running stock JB rooted and unlocked boot loader. I have been able to get a recovery easily on my previous devices but this one stumped me and it's a real shame as I was planning on flashing AVD rom. Tried all methods here in xda and loads of other but can never get it to work. Can someone give me a link to one that worked for them with detailed instructions on how to do so? It would be much appreciated

For locked bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333078
For unlocked bootloader just flash boot.img (you can find it in my mediafire folder---> link in signature) . After flashing turn on phone and start pressing volume - down button until you see cwm recovery... then you flash rom and turn off the phone. After that flash back kernel.sin the stock kernel of .31 jb or you will stuck at boot!

If you are using A rooted Xperia J I can only say thanks to gavster26 that ROM rocks Install AVD ROM, no lag at all ( due to Supercharger V6 ) install the Supercharger V8 and get better performance, the ROM is also stock based JB with Xperia Z media apps and pre-rooted for convenience, a few errors of the ROM is that in the lock screen a tricky way to get in is to pull down the status bar and go to settings, and whala your in, some buttons seem overlapped, ( The one in the clock )
I am Running on Xperia J Powerd by AVD ,
BTW you dun have to flash boot.img since there is a batch file to install CWM on Xperia J (The latest of course) the previous had an error on booting which means its stuck at SONY logo
Hey there guys, this thread is noob friendly and is made especially for those of you who just got their first Sony phone and decided to flash a custom kernel or rom.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone, use this tutorial at your own risk.
Things you'll need:
- Xperia L with Unlocked Bootloader(ofcourse haha) Look here on how to unlock your bootloader.
- Flashtool
Installing a kernel (This tutorial is for 4.2.2 only, that is 15.3.A.0.26+)
1. Download phantom kernel from here (both Phantom_modules.zip and the boot.img) Place the "Phantom_modules.zip" into your phone (sd card or internal storage) Or you can use any other kernel's boot.img
2. After installing flashtool, or if you already have it installed, open it and click on the Flash icon (the first icon from the left)
4. When it asks you to choose a bootmode, select fastboot mode and press ok.
5. After all this has done turn of your phone (Xperia L).
6. Get out your usb cable and plug it into your computer while holding the "volume up" button. (notice your phone will glow blue below, this means that it is in fastboot mode.)
7. On the pop up window where it says "By Doomlord", choose "select kernel to flash". Locate your boot.img file that you just downloaded a while ago and select it.(Notice if the boot.img file is not showing up in the file menu, on the right cornor make sure the file type is set as "*.img")
8. Be patient and wait till the kernel has been flashed, should take no longer than 10 seconds.
9. Now select "Reboot device into system" and wait for your phone to power on, now once it's powered on without any problems turn it off. Now turn on your phone and wait for a purple glow then hold down the "volume down"button. Now you'll be in CWM (clock work recovery mod) Once you're here select install from zip. Locate your "phantom_modules.zip"(or the zip file, of your kernel choice) and select yes. Wait for it to be flashed and then go back and, reboot sytem.
10. From here you can flash any kernel/rom via CWM, like Thunderzap or civic. Just boot into cwm, select install from zip and locate your kernel zip file and hit install.

Hit thanks if this helped you out.
I don't think that's needed to be Phantom Kernel, or any other in specific, since the kernel provide a recovery with the possibility to flash a zip, it's ok (correct if I'm wrong).
I had unlocked my bootloader, then flashed the boot.img inside of the flashable zip from ThunderZap, then, rebooted to recovery right way, and flashed the entire package from ThunderZap.
Regards and thanks for the helpfull post!

No probs
Well it was the first kernel for 4.2.2 and that's why I put it up instead. I know we can use the boot.img from thunderzap too but if I'm not specific enough most of the noobs wont understand. I also chose that kernel because it comes with a recovery so then you can just flash other kernels via cwm.
Complicated - with properly installed drivers you can start flashtool with usb-cable plugged in. After clicking the flash icon choose "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)".
When the phone is in fastboot mode (blue led) choose "Select kernel to flash". No need to turn off the phone and play with cable and vol-down button...

Flash any (4.2.2) stock rom and try again. That's why your WiFi probably isn't working. Either that or you didn't flash the kernel zip file (ex thunderzap4.1.zip) after fast booting the kernel img.

I am also facing the same issue where wifi is not working on any Rom. So after following the steps mentioned earlier. What exactly should be done like boot to recovery then flash gapps and then reboot. Once booted flash boot.img from the Rom and then boot to recovery to flash the full kernal zip package..?

I have a HUGE problem. Please help me ASAP!
I just flashed my Xperia L to CM 12.1. I was already on CM 12 before. So I went into recovery, wiped everything and installed the new ROM from zip. Everything worked fine except for the network signal. I was getting no network signal at all. So, when I rebooted the phone, I saw that the ThunderZap kernel was also removed. I tried to flash the kernel using flashtool, but this particular variant has 2 .img files (bootlp and bootkk). I flashed them both using the FlashtTool. Now, when I reboot my phone, all I see is the ThunderZap logo. Please help me ASAP, as this is my only primary driver phone.

My dear fella. If you had read the thread I made you would know this!
This is the last time I will be saying this:
This is an update of jjm34 for the E dual. Version 1.1.0. Somehow on this version GSM isn't buggy. It is the E dual version, so you will have to select SIM1 as your SIM. The bugs are still the same:
-Video recording not working
-Video streaming not working
-Bluetooth not working(well, it turns on and connects but fails to exchange any media)
-Magnetometer not working(no automatic moving to landscape/portrait.
All right? Clear enough?
This ROM fixes just the GSM and nothing more. It was not made by me or UltraGamerHD. It is an update by jjm34.

If you flash the FTF (firmware) file, you're phone will become absolutely normal. Like a factory release. It shall become ordinary, like the very first time when you bought it.
No, the recoveries wont last, you will have to flash the kernels again.

My method is completely safe and tested repeatedly. Thanks to my friend and kernel developers Freack_v from XDA, I can provide you with a working kernel unRIC for D2403 with CWM recovery. Original thread on 4pda.ru/forum
What you need:
Download stock JB 4.3 for D2303 (don't worry).
Download stock 4.4.4 for D4303
Download Towelroot
Flashtool latest version.
BackupTA 9.11 tool
UpdateSuperSU.zip for CWM install
Download kernel unRIC for D2403 with CWM recovery
----- And so everything is ready------
Run FLASHTOOL and flash the 4.3 to phone. You have now just M2.
Run towelroot and makeitrain. Now you have ROOT.
Plug again to Flashtool and backup rawTA partition (need enabled usb debugging). In the folder .../flashtool/custom/ appears folder with the name of the serial number of your M2 AQUA.
For redundancy, you can make a backup through utility BackupTA. You now have a backup TA partition with DRM keys. Now you can always bring them back and bring the phone to the factory state.
The next step is to unlock the bootloader (in the forum thread has instructions)
The Next step is to flash the latest stock firmware 4.4.4, you can immediately connect in fastboot mode (for economy time to booting) and flash the kernel unRIC for D2403 with CWM or ALL M2 wit TWRP recovery from attached files.
Acces to RECOVERY - When it booting hold down the volume down button as soon as the lights pink LED, releasing this button when orange LED.
flash updateSuperSu.zip in CWM and reboot.
ALL done - you have full ROOT + CWM + backup TA (DRM keys)
IF you can't enter in to recovery try attached kernel ****SHIFT GPIO*** or download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60379837&postcount=22

It's the last file attached, boot_D2403_4.4.4_here.zip. Just extract the archive.
I'm testing this method atm, will post my results later.
EDIT: Finally finished rooting my device... I did everything as it says, rooted and made a backup of TA, then spent some time with fastboot drivers (had to restart my w8.1 x64 to disable "driver signature enforcement" to allow installing driver), flashed 4.4.4, flashed boot, made into recovery (first question was with root permissions, I answered yes), then again into recovery, installed SuperSU, when exiting asked again about root, again yes, got stuck into bootloop... Back to recovery again, wiped everything (cache, dalvik cache and even data), phone boots up, SuperSU shows up in menu. Tried with Root Explorer, System mounts r/w nicely. Spent almost 2 hours rooting, but at least I feel safe now. As I'm a noob when it comes to Sony devices (I've only rooted a few Samsung devices), this was a very good practise!

Well, I guess the kernel could be an option - you can flash the kernel with cwm, or flash the kernel with twrp.

No, this kernel packed in img. And will be flashed through Flashtool or Fasboot application in Fastboot mode. This kernel universal. It works on all models m2 on last firmware. Hit thanks @freack_v

Having trouble with my Xperia J after I rooted and installed CWM. Since then the device doesn't boot. After pressing power button it shows a 'yellow' light and then nothing happens. I then flashed it using flashtool with twrp2.4.3-jlo's boot.img and used custom ROM 'MOD_For_Z-Fusion_For_CM10'. It installs fine but SIM card is not recognized. I read somewhere about this problem and the resolution was to install a correct firmware. How can I get my SIM card read? Do I need to flash the device with another firmware?
The bootloader is unlocked and if I ever install boot.img apart from twrp2.4.3-jlo's one then the installed CWM doesn't works. Only twrp2.4.3-jlo's own recovery mode works fine.
Another major problem is that if I press volume down button and connect with the USB cable then only the BLUE color appears and FLASHTOOL reads it in fast boot. So, I am never able to set it in flash boot.
Please help me in getting my device up and running. Let me know if there are some firmware or custom rom which I can Install and get my device running.
Thanks in advance

I was able to fix the permissions in CWM but the SIM card still didn't get detect. I have installed CM10 (FXP213) using fastboot. As per the another thread '[Q] Xperia J CM10 FXP213 - no SIM card problem by darkdonald' in XDA it looks that I need to flash back to ICS first and then proceed with FXP213 but the major problem I am facing is that my mobile device 'xperia J' isn't getting connected in flashmode. I press volume-up or volume-down the device is always detected in fastboot and in both the cases the light turn to Blue.

Thanks a lot. Yes, the baseband is showing unknown and I should fix this to get the SIM working but a major problem I am facing is that the device is never going to flash mode (so I can't use FlashTool to flash tft's). I will try to change tft firmware file to flash-able zip or search for a baseband flash-able zip file.

Try with different cable, and connect it to the back of pc. I had problems with original cable that comes with phone and I'm using short 10cm cable from a Nokia that i had. It's working perfectly now. About Baseband, i think it will still be unknown after flashing, but you'll have Net.
