Hello all, I am trying to stick a recovery such as Clockworkmod on my Xperia J which is currently running stock JB rooted and unlocked boot loader. I have been able to get a recovery easily on my previous devices but this one stumped me and it's a real shame as I was planning on flashing AVD rom. Tried all methods here in xda and loads of other but can never get it to work. Can someone give me a link to one that worked for them with detailed instructions on how to do so? It would be much appreciated

For locked bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333078
For unlocked bootloader just flash boot.img (you can find it in my mediafire folder---> link in signature) . After flashing turn on phone and start pressing volume - down button until you see cwm recovery... then you flash rom and turn off the phone. After that flash back kernel.sin the stock kernel of .31 jb or you will stuck at boot!

Ok so I've done all that and flashed my rom! But it's quite annoying that I have to keep flashing the boot.img everytime I want to enter recovery! Any way to make it permanent?

I m looking to get a better stock based ROM.. Suggestion?

If you are using A rooted Xperia J I can only say thanks to gavster26 that ROM rocks Install AVD ROM, no lag at all ( due to Supercharger V6 ) install the Supercharger V8 and get better performance, the ROM is also stock based JB with Xperia Z media apps and pre-rooted for convenience, a few errors of the ROM is that in the lock screen a tricky way to get in is to pull down the status bar and go to settings, and whala your in, some buttons seem overlapped, ( The one in the clock )
I am Running on Xperia J Powerd by AVD ,
BTW you dun have to flash boot.img since there is a batch file to install CWM on Xperia J (The latest of course) the previous had an error on booting which means its stuck at SONY logo

since my exams are over i can create CWM recovery for this, but first i want to know if you guys indeed need it and incase you do then i will need testers to test out the recovery as i do not have the device with me...

do u have any recovery working on JB firmware for locked bootloaders?
I had a running CWM but under versions 7.5. Now I have not any. Or is the possibility to unlock the bootloader with status NO.

they had recoveries with the .75(the latest ICS firmware) version, which was ICS.After the JB update there is no fully working recovery, the one termobulbulator posted is the only one booting.
tl;dr there is no recovery atm.The last recovery was for the last version of ICS.

Dear developer, as you know this device has not separate room in bootloader for recovery.img and this is a big issue. For now I find this solution to do onandroid backup and to flash the CWM with flashtool when I need a system restore... this is a little annoying, but works. Anyway if you could create a CWM recovery for JB stock kernel I'll be the first interested in testing it (may be one recovery.tar in /system/bin...???) Please!

Ok, Mr gavster26, you are the cool ruler of Xperia J, and you really know what's going on with CWM recovery for the device! But although we have yet CWM and TWRP recovery for J none of these developers it is able to fix permanent recovery on stock rom, yet. I have idea that this will be not possible as there is no separate room for recovery in bootloader. Maybe I am wrong but as I am noob just you are, I asked to Doomlord if he will help us to solve the problem, sorry for this but I'm not spammig at all, in any case.

I have a rooted Xperia J running stock JB with locked bootloader that has no working cwm/twrp recovery (I tried CWM 6.1 and I'm getting a black screen, since the same issues seems to be happening for others in the TWRP thread I haven't tried testing that). I cannot install the adrenaline script without CWM/TWRP. So to answer your question, yes it would be great if the J had a working recovery on stock JB however I have a locked bootlader so I cannot install custom ROMs/kernels if I understand correctly what I read so far. CWM did work on stock rooted ICS (version ending with 7.5).
Please do let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with testing without bricking my phone
Hello,
I rooted my sony ericsson xperia J following THIS metod, and then I tried to install CWM using THIS metod, but after I finished installing CWM and I try to use it (when sony logo appears, click volume - repeteadly) my screen turns completely black and it doesn't enter the CWM.
I tried to install it again but when I try too use it, it does the same thing.
My bootloader is locked and following what I read ( THIS ) I can't unlock it.
My goal is to install Cyanogen rom in my xperia J ( I had one HTC desire with it, and i simply love that rom).
What can i do?
thank you for you attention
EDIT: mistake in the title "CWM"

Solution is here:

This is working cwm for jb!
If you have unlocked bootloader,no need to install cwm... just flash boot.img (you can find in my mediafire folder in signature) . Cwm is included! boot.img is kernel for custom rom cm10! Without him you get bootloop!

Buddy...just enter recovery...you know how to enter Cwm right...then there is an option to wipe data/format. Select it to wipe data...this will reset your phone..
Thank me if I helped you...
@fonetalker101 To boot into CWM turn off your phone then turn it back on when you see sony logo continuously press volume down button untill you enter recovery. when installing CWM make sure you are "ROOTED" and have usb debugging checked in developer settings.
Hey folks,
I ran into a problem with my Xperia J!
These are what I did:
Unlocked Bootloader
Rooted with Doomlord's way
--Everything till now was OK--
Now, I flashed CWM from fastboot!
After that, the phone doesn't boots. It either goes into the Recovery or Rebbots with 'Green LED' ON and for 1-2 seconds, a green charging symbol appears and nothing happens at all after that!
Tried to flash aokp, but no help! :crying::crying:
If anyone could help me with these, I'll be very thankful
Thank You in advance!
Flash boot.img (this is cm10 kernel, include twrp and cwm) with flashtool ,enter cwm when you see pink light with pressing volume - button and flash aokp! Problem solved
Boot.img you can find in my mediafire or 4shared folder for xperia j

You said, it includes twrp and cwm ?! And then, go into CWM Recovery? And is Vengeance kernel good to use after I flash AOKP?!

I never use AOKP rom,but I think kernel is included in rom zip file! Vengeance kernel is just for stock rom!
Try Installing Riches Kernel, it has Dual Recovery ( TWRP and CWM )
I flashed using cwm a custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/development/xperia-z1-rom-tipo-dual-lb-ulb-users-t2927997) , specifically the S.P.3. I followed the installation as advised but after the installation finished when I rebooted the system wouldn't power on. The only thing it does is it vibrates as if it would power on and simultaneously the litlle light flashes green for one sec. I chose the intuise kernel and most xperia z1 settings. I ve got a nandroid backup but how can i flash it?
do you have an unlocked bootloader?

if your bootloader is locked, then you can't choose a custom kernel from the installer, i am the rom dev and i mentioned this problem specifically, and i said: if your bootloader is locked, then please choose "Stock kernel" in the installer, and i wrote it in big font.
now you need to re-flash stock rom using flashtool, and then proceed with rom installation again, and choose "Stock kernel" in the installer.
i hope this helped :good:
Thanks I have already manage to reflash using flash tool but it was a bit difficult as the only roms it recognizes are the .ftf ones. Anyway thanks.

Just Google your model with .ftf and you will find one on Google Drive. (for example sti21i.ftf)
