Hello,
I rooted my sony ericsson xperia J following THIS metod, and then I tried to install CWM using THIS metod, but after I finished installing CWM and I try to use it (when sony logo appears, click volume - repeteadly) my screen turns completely black and it doesn't enter the CWM.
I tried to install it again but when I try too use it, it does the same thing.
My bootloader is locked and following what I read ( THIS ) I can't unlock it.
My goal is to install Cyanogen rom in my xperia J ( I had one HTC desire with it, and i simply love that rom).
What can i do?
thank you for you attention
EDIT: mistake in the title "CWM"

Solution is here:

This is working cwm for jb!
If you have unlocked bootloader,no need to install cwm... just flash boot.img (you can find in my mediafire folder in signature) . Cwm is included! boot.img is kernel for custom rom cm10! Without him you get bootloop!

I am a new member here and I have maybe an solution for all you out there who keep tryin to root the ICS 4.1.B.0.431 version on their Xperia Arc
It worked for me so please feedback and correct me if i am wrong
So I done that like this:
1. I downloaded the stock ICS 4.1.B.0.431 for my Arc.
2. I flashed it on my Arc with flashtool.
3. Then I tried to root it with Rooting Toolkit for Xperia 2011 ICS by Doomlord ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038 ) but no succes
4. I found that thread: [07/04][arc/arc s][ics 4.0.3] very stabe, smooth, nice and best for battery fc3.0
5. And in this thread I found that kernel: http://www.mediafire.com/?8499hc90y9eoa06
6. I flashed it on my Arc with the stock ICS
7. I used again the Rooting toolkit by Doomlord
8. And voiiiiiila........i got root!
As mentioned I tried that and it worked for me
thanks for the tips and solution dude

Bunnybash you need flashtool (better for beginners), the kernel which i provided in my thread (thanks to the dev who made it) and of course a Xperia Arc
First download the kernel and after that the kernel which you put somewhere on your desktop.
Then after installing open up Flashtool and click on the lightning (sory my english is bad) and select fastboot mode.
Then just click on select kernel to flash and clickthe one you placed on the desktop.
Follow the on-screen instructions and you are done

I have a Xperia ARC, after trying to root my phone by different ways, flashing so many roms, I found the way to get it. But not with 4.1.B.0.431, I got it with 4.1.A.0.562 and I have locked bootloader.
First you have to download the 4.1.A.0.562 rom, as I see you know how to flash it. Go to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598072 and download the rom.
Then go to this forum Thanks to DoomLord http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038 and there you have the instruction to root your xperia.
Please read CAREFULLY the instructions, download ALL the files it suggest before start the procedure. And in the step 5 and 6, do it as it says, if not you won't get you phone rooted.
Keep reading the instruction in the CMD window during the rooting process specially when it says: Turn off and On USB debbuging.
Please thanks people in the forum I suggest, they were whom really did the job. Hope this could help you.

-one time all functions from power button doesnt worked(that happend at first run )
-sometimes system freeze only removing battery help

Hello all, I am trying to stick a recovery such as Clockworkmod on my Xperia J which is currently running stock JB rooted and unlocked boot loader. I have been able to get a recovery easily on my previous devices but this one stumped me and it's a real shame as I was planning on flashing AVD rom. Tried all methods here in xda and loads of other but can never get it to work. Can someone give me a link to one that worked for them with detailed instructions on how to do so? It would be much appreciated

For locked bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333078
For unlocked bootloader just flash boot.img (you can find it in my mediafire folder---> link in signature) . After flashing turn on phone and start pressing volume - down button until you see cwm recovery... then you flash rom and turn off the phone. After that flash back kernel.sin the stock kernel of .31 jb or you will stuck at boot!

Thanks bro! It helped.... What rom u flashed?
I m looking to get a better stock based ROM.. Suggestion?
Sent from my ST26i using xda app-developers app
If you are using A rooted Xperia J I can only say thanks to gavster26 that ROM rocks Install AVD ROM, no lag at all ( due to Supercharger V6 ) install the Supercharger V8 and get better performance, the ROM is also stock based JB with Xperia Z media apps and pre-rooted for convenience, a few errors of the ROM is that in the lock screen a tricky way to get in is to pull down the status bar and go to settings, and whala your in, some buttons seem overlapped, ( The one in the clock )
I am Running on Xperia J Powerd by AVD ,
BTW you dun have to flash boot.img since there is a batch file to install CWM on Xperia J (The latest of course) the previous had an error on booting which means its stuck at SONY logo
Yees I know that there is already a post about the topic, but everything I had done, didn't work. ://
So... like in the title... My Phone isn't booting anymore.
When I try to boot the Xperia J there is only the SONY logo. If I have got luck (10 percent chance) i can get into CWM. Plsss can you give me a easy instruction, what I've to do.
You need to flash stock kernel with Flashtool

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/help/stuck-sony-logo-xperia-j-t2051115
First you need to root you're phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/orig-development/j-doomlord-easy-rooting-toolkit-v17-t2366577 then you instal CWM.
Hello Buddies
Today I am going To show You how to Get CWM based recovery whether yiu have LB/ULB (locked bootloader/unlocked bootloader) on your SONY XPERIA TIPO,,XPERIA MIRO,,XPERIA J (SS/DS).
WITHOUT UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES TO YOUR PHONE ,, DEAD SD CARDS... BLAH BLAH BLAH
This is generally a very safe and easy procedure
WHY YOU NEED A CUSTOM RECOVERY:
On CWM RECOVERY MODE You can :--
1. You can Install roms as you want (needs unlocked bootloader)
2. You can make NANDROID BACKUP of your whole system..
3. You can Format your phone through it..
4. You can install flashable zips.
and much more...
What we need :--
1. we will need the apk of CWM INSTALLER.. (for this check downloads)
2. we must have root permission granted .
3. PATIENCE
Lets Go for Downloads
Link is here :-
www.4shared.com/zip/5jLXHF92ba/CWM-installer-tipo.html
Instructions :-
1. First You will need to decompress zip file of downloaded cwminstaller.zip
2. install apk normally from zip
3. After open CWM INSTALLER click on install ..
4. it will need ROOT permission ..so just grant it.
5 . DONE
Just follow these simple steps to boot on CWM:-
1. Switch off your phone.
2 . Turn on again
3, During the sony boot logo,
press volume rocker down (-)
repeatedly
4. You'll be taken to CWM
recovery mode ..
ENJOY NOW YOU GOT CWM RECOVERY
