Warranty and Unlocked Boot loader - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just send my pad for repair, the trouble was the touch screen stop working when plugged with usb cable, they send me a RMA and repaired it for free. My pad is unlocked with Nvflash anti-brick look like that don't null my hardware warranty. Here the new piece description 08301-00163200 TF300T Docking FPC r1.3
Did anyone else got there unlocked pad repair?

there ARE some people having their pad repaired for free while they are unlocked, but the only thing is that you are DAMN lucky
i sent mine for hard brick, due to installing TWRP of 4.1 on new 4.2 update, which resulted in hardbrick, but they called me and told me that i have to pay for that
don't know what to do
BTW, where do you live bro?

My headphone jack only works with 1 ear. Mine is unlocked, they say I have to pay, waiting for the bill.
How much did replacing motherboard cost?
I'm in USA

I live in Canada and i have restored to original asus ota before sending it. I suppose for hardbrick is another story

Hi,
I also live in Canada. I had mine repaired 3 months ago and they wanted me to pay for the fix. I also got bricked when upgrading.
If you live in the province of Québec, Asus got to fix your tablet. It's the law!
At first they refused to fix it without a payment. But I told the service person that in my province there were laws about this this service woman changed her mind and told me that it would be fix free, for that time.
I received the tablet 2 weeks after. It's working good, and came back locked...
But when I tried to unlock it with the tool provided by Asus, I get the "unable to connect to the internet, please try later", but I tried and tried...
Sure it's way of making sure that I won't able to unlock it no more...
But argue, in the end they'll agree...
Good luck...
Still trying to unlock it...

I got mine repaired twice. Both times it was power button problem, caused random reboots and did not switch on at all eventually.
First repair took almost three weeks. Second time only one week. No questions about unlocked bootloader.
Guys in the shop, where i bought my Asus, told that when any fault happens third time, they will give me a new tablet.

Maybe you got yours repaired for free because it was hardware fault and not the user's fault? I believe this is what happens with root, if the device has a problem that is not related to root, manufacturers have to fix it. So I'm guessing Asus knew that it was the touch screen that was the problem thus fixing it for you for free.

[Q] Can/should I send my TF to ASUS for repair and its rooted

Hello everyone,
Just realized that it appears my screen is dead. Have been charging my TF but there is no response when turning it on or attempting to use it. I have tried different outlets and still the same result. When I plug the usb into the computer it recognizes the drivers and attempts to install them. To me this means that the unit is on but the screen is not. Since I have a rooted version, I do not want to take back to Best Buy to exchange it. I have contacted Asus and they said since it is under warrenty I can send it in for repair. My question is, since it is rooted and I can not access/use my TF, I can not restore it to stock. Will this be a probably? IF they replace the screen I will still have my rooted TF but Im not sure what they will do once they recognize that it has been rooted (using Prime Rom so as soon it starts you notice it different/rooted). Is there another way anyone knows i can unroot my TF since i have no access to the screen. Thanks.
If Best Buy will let you exchanged it I would go that route. See if they have any B60 or older if not than send to Asus

They wont let me exchange it because I bought it is after the 30 day return policy and I got it on sale (using the Staples $100 off coupon that was offered) They said that I could return the TF and my extended warrenty and get refund but I would only get the 300 I paid and would need to pay the difference to get a new one. I was thinking of going thru ASUS but I didnt know what will happen if they see that the TF has been rooted. Im pretty sure they will void the warranty but Im not sure what that means to me (they wont return, need to pay money repair it, etc)
You can try to stock-nvflash it while the screen is dead. I got this problem too and my TF couldnot go thru with nvflash. I had no choice but returned it (rooted) and they fixed it without problem.
Thanks Hype! How did you stock-nvflash if the screen is dead? Glad that it worked for you (sending it in rooted). I am hoping that the same will be for me. Again thanks for your input.

Stock nvflash only requires that you can enter apx mode. Just go into apx mode, plug your tf into pc, and nvflash away.

[Q] Remove "Device is Unlocked" message after unlcok the bootloader

Hi all,
In first place, i dont want to by pass the rulles or trap ASUS waranty, but, what happended too me is almost not real
I've my ASUS TF300 tablet for 31 days.
All was good, i unlocked the bootloader, applied roms, all working, just wonderfull.
Yesterday night, i was playing angry birds before sleep, all fine, i put the tablet upside the desk in my room.
Today morning, i was going to turn on the tabled and ... OH MY GOD, the screen was craked\crashed\broken like a lighting bolt inside him !
No one touch the tablet during the night, just me at home, was not hot to broke the display, nothing ! I thought " this is not real, please! " .
But yes..it was real..without any explanation, my screen broked it self alone during the night.
Here in my country, i can just change the equipment on the next 30 days before purchase...it was on day 31...and the only solution is to sent it to ASUS for waranty.
But...yes..i unlocked the bootloader..so..as the disclairmer says in their application..no more any kind of waranty ! No no no ... this is not fair at all, the screen broked alone after 1 month, i did nothing to him, it was an bad unit from stock for sure !
In this case, i need to sent it to ASUS..but i'm sure that they will not replace the screen because of the unlocked bootloader.
I know that a unique identifier is sent to ASUS when i unlock the bootloader, but ..in this case, a screen, if the message of "this device is unlocked" is not there..maybe they not check it on the system and do the exchange...
Hunf..its not my day
Thank you...
Sorry to hear that, that sounds almost impossible.
I wouldn't worry about the whole bootloader unlock deal. When I had my prime and unlocked running Wookie, I had to send it into ASUS twice, one for glass breaking, and one for something else I can't remember. They never said crap, and repaired it even thought it took weeks upon end. I even got it back unlocked.
Just send it in, and hope for the best. There's not much you can do otherwise m8.
Chugger is right. Go ahead and send it in. Worst case scenario, they tell you they can't fix it because it's unlocked and send it back. No harm, no foul.
I concur with the above statements. Worse case, they won't fix it and you're out a few bucks from shipping.
Luckily for me, when mine fell off a table at work on to concrete, after owning it maybe two weeks, I sent it back to amazon saying it was damaged but not the packaging and requested an exchanged. Nothing has happened thus far. I had only rooted, which a factory reset undid. I had not unlocked.
Of course, that's an odd situation. I think someone either went into your room or something fell on it. Gorilla glass isn't suppose to break and it takes a lot to do so. That drop, nothing happened to the glass. The case got cracked and bent.
Interestingly, I was able to see the "The device is unlocked" text in the .apk file using a hex editor, so I'm just curious if it would be as easy as replacing that text with spaces so that the message would not be printed at boot-time?
I'm not sure if it's even worth trying it though since Asus keeps a record of your device serial number when you actually run the unlock tool - I certainly wasn't brave enough to try it! I would think that Asus would have coded the unlock tool in such a way that it's not that easy to "blank out" the message with a hex editor. But then again, I've seen stranger things!

Cracked screen=cid? They seem to have claimed that in more than a few instances. Good luck to you. Is there a charge if they look at it and want to charge for a repair that isn't cost effective.

Hi!
So, what happened? Did they repair it? I have almost the same situation, the back speaker is dead, have to send it in for warranty, with a unlocked bootloader..

Keyboard dock produces smoke or fire

When I attach my keyboard dock to the TF300T, I get smoke and a little bit of fire and the tablet turns off. I detach the keyboard and the tablet works fine after turning it back on. I've tried this a handful of times and every time the tablet turns off, the last time it made smoke again.
So I need to send them both in I presume, but I have an unlocked bootloader. So even though I've messed with the software does that void the warranty for hardware problems too? Would flashing a different ROM do anything about that? I'm on Skang Jellybro.
unlocking voids warranty as warned by Asus.
i would send it anyway to warranty service.

hel yeah mate send it to asus as that is crazy dangerous
Sorry I should clarify my question. I know I can't re-lock my bootloader, would changing roms somehow change the voltage at the connector

Probably not but I'd flash stock before sending and you can check the result on the dock before you ship.

I have been Looking into the Purchase of the Dock for my TF300T but have been hesitant because of issues with the screens cracking and Now I see that Amazon is No Longer offering the Dock for sale pending an investigation of this item, which maybe for the flaming/smoking Keyboard.
I don't think the Fact that you Unlocked the Bootloader on your TF300T would have an effect on you Keyboard Dock Warranty.
Seems many are having this concern, Many Review at Amazon are about flaming/smoking keyboards and it seems its with the Dock itself and not the tablet.
Amazons Statement:
Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

[Q] Dock failure and boot issue after drop

I have an unlocked rooted TF300T. It's in one of the trifold Poetic cases, the padded ones. Yesterday it fell off my bed about 3ft onto the floor whilst closed.
I picked it up and tried it and it seemed to work OK, but then I noted later that the SD card wasn't being recognised. This has happened a few times in the past and usually a simple reboot solves it. So, a reboot later and I found it still didn't recognise the SD card, and also the keyboard wasn't working. In fact, the tablet had stopped recognising that the dock was connected at all.
I carried on fiddling around, connecting and disconnecting the dock and suddenly my tablet shut off. I tried to boot it up but nothing happened. I tried a hard reset, nothing.
I was aware that the dock had been low on charge so I split them up and charged the dock with one cable and the pad with a separate one. Once the lights were green I tried to boot my tablet and it failed to boot. After a lot of messing, and in the end a sharp tap to the tablet back, I managed to boot it.
However, when I connect the dock it is still not recognised. I've tried the dock on the wife's TF300T and it works fine, and I've tried her dock on my pad and it isn't recognised so this is a problem with the tablet and not the dock.
The pad still charges via the docking port (but not via the dock).
So I have a few questions. My pad is less than a year old so would be in warranty were it not for the fact I'd unlocked it
Is there any chance if this is a hardware failure ASUS will still repair it under warranty?
If they won't any idea what sort of cost they will sting me for repair?
Anyone else seen this and if so is this something I could repair myself if ASUS won't? There are ports available online: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Asus-TF...Power-Original-Replacement-Part-/380574369170
Is it possible the port has just become loose inside and so is not connecting properly? If so how easy is it to take the pad apart without damaging it?
What might be the cause of the pad refusing to boot up?

ASUS europe (*) has stated that they will repair under warranty for hardware problems even after unlock, only software problems arent covered by warranty anymore.
but damages by falls arent covered by any warranty afaik, maybe if you dont tell them what's happened they'll fall for it but I dont konw.
(*) other countries have different consumer protection laws, I dont have any data.

Thanks for the reply. It's worse than I thought. I managed to keep it running long enough to backup some stuff yesterday and then it shut down again, dead, unable to reboot. I eased the back cover off and unfortunately the large copper heatsink from the processor had become dislodged in the fall breaking the warranty sticker in the process. It had ended up seated across the PCB. I suspect 2 things have probably happened, overheating of the processor and that there may well have been a short due to the heat sink being out of position.
There is no way I will convince anyone that the sticker broke and the heat sink became dislodged without trauma, so I am looking at a paid repair. Sounds like that may be expensive, so I may have to just bite the bullet and claim on my house insurance accidental damage policy. There's a £150 excess but it's better than losing a £400 tablet and I can probably buy without the dock and save a bit of cash with the insurance money.

!!!Consumer Alert!!!!!!!!!!ASUS Service Center rog phone qualcomm crashdump Mode

I purchase my rog phone from Microsoft store online in November, recently I sent my phone to asus repair centre in Toronto, the problem is the phone went to qualcomm crashdump mode while my phone was charging. First asus said they are fixing the problem, few days later I got a invoice saying I have to pay $800 Canadian to fix the phone and due to modifications done to the kernel ( unlocking) and now your phone is not under warranty. They even asked me if I was using original adapter while I was charging they are trying to blame me for the problem and want me to pay as much has half the price I paid.
Anyone else having same problem with the phone and with the greedy asus support?
I know some people having problems with the screen as well as the support team.

Yep, your warranty is void when you unlock the bootloader. You may be able to fix by installing a raw firmware:
