there ARE some people having their pad repaired for free while they are unlocked, but the only thing is that you are DAMN lucky
i sent mine for hard brick, due to installing TWRP of 4.1 on new 4.2 update, which resulted in hardbrick, but they called me and told me that i have to pay for that
don't know what to do
BTW, where do you live bro?
My headphone jack only works with 1 ear. Mine is unlocked, they say I have to pay, waiting for the bill.
How much did replacing motherboard cost?
I'm in USA
I live in Canada and i have restored to original asus ota before sending it. I suppose for hardbrick is another story
Hi,
I also live in Canada. I had mine repaired 3 months ago and they wanted me to pay for the fix. I also got bricked when upgrading.
If you live in the province of Québec, Asus got to fix your tablet. It's the law!
At first they refused to fix it without a payment. But I told the service person that in my province there were laws about this this service woman changed her mind and told me that it would be fix free, for that time.
I received the tablet 2 weeks after. It's working good, and came back locked...
But when I tried to unlock it with the tool provided by Asus, I get the "unable to connect to the internet, please try later", but I tried and tried...
Sure it's way of making sure that I won't able to unlock it no more...
But argue, in the end they'll agree...
Good luck...
Still trying to unlock it...
I got mine repaired twice. Both times it was power button problem, caused random reboots and did not switch on at all eventually.
First repair took almost three weeks. Second time only one week. No questions about unlocked bootloader.
Guys in the shop, where i bought my Asus, told that when any fault happens third time, they will give me a new tablet.
Maybe you got yours repaired for free because it was hardware fault and not the user's fault? I believe this is what happens with root, if the device has a problem that is not related to root, manufacturers have to fix it. So I'm guessing Asus knew that it was the touch screen that was the problem thus fixing it for you for free.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk HD
I have a nexus 5 rooted with stock rom and kernel and stock recovery+ xposed+GravityBox and some other xposed modules.
this happened sunday and again today.
I unlocked the screen and then the screen looked like that:
even on reboot the screen still was with the pixel snow
and after a few minutes of locking and unlocking repeatedly the screen turned OK again.
couldn't find a lot of information online.
does anyone knows why has this happened?
has someone experienced this kind of failure?
any advice?
thanks.
It's a hardware failure. Most probably the screen or the Flex cable went bad. It can only be solved by replacing it.
Definitely a hardware fault.... Had exactly the same screen on my n86 when the repair guyz told me that flex cable was damaged...
thanks..
the problem is I bought the phone on ebay and had it sent to my uncle who was in the states for a business trip and then he brought it to me when he finished his trip.
I'm not from the US so I don't know who should I complain to :\
sending it back to the US and **** will take a lot of time and probably money

Totally depends on the device's IMEI. If the IMEI if not of the country you're residing in, warranty goes out of the window. In any case, you need to send it in to get it fixed whether it's under warranty or not.

Changing the flex cable won't cost alot...
If the screen is damaged (i hope its not) it will hurt...
So best is to get it done from local lg service center ..as u have no warranty by any means
Wrong post quoted
I know now that this was completely stupid. Now, after booting the phone, the phone setup crashes after the Google account settings and loops back to the LG language/accessibility screen. I had placed a system.img on the root of internal storage prior to factory resetting, but that is now gone evidently. Could someone please assist me in getting the phone back to a factory state? Thanks in advance and I'm more than happy to buy someone a beer, doughnut, breakfast, etc.... I'm embarrassed.
which model and firmware version do you have?
you may be able to use a KDZ to restore your device
Not stupid, it happens sometimes, besides you're most probably still in good shape since you can boot to system . You can try one more factory reset or flash KDZ like X1ras said and re-root. That is assuming you're on 5.1.1PR, I'm not sure if there are KDZ's available for AT&T.
I'm on AT&T firmware version 511x. I checked out the thread detailing the process for flashing 511PR KDZ, but it clearly stated that attempting to do so on a phone with my firmware would yield a bricked device. I can receive calls and access settings, but MTP doesn't seem to be available and there is no option for a factory reset in the security section.
There shouldn't be problem with standard recovery method. Instal USB drivers and LG Mobile Support Tool from LG Website, turn off your phone and plug it to your pc while holding volume up button. U will boot into download mode, then just start LGMST and go for options -> recovery or something like that. It will download proper KDZ from internet and flash it afterwards.
For some reason, I didn't think LGMST didn't work with the G Flex 2. I wish I had read this earlier, as I sent the phone off to LG to be re-flashed. I hope they don't charge me for this, but we'll see. The lesson I'm taking from this boondoggle is to be more patient and deliberate when tampering with my devices. I failed to account for the difference in modifying the GF2 and my previously owned Nexus devices.

Yeah that's the best thing about Nexus devices, you can always bring them back to life.
I'm curious to see if LG will charge you anything...let us know what happens
Flex 2 is mine 4th LG device and i was always using LGMST to bring them back to life. Sadly previous ones had unlocked bootloader unlike flex 2 :/ I would really like to see custom mods on flex 2 as this device is really powerful and will last for few years atleast. But that's not the topic. Hope u will get your flex 2 back soon
Thanks for the support and insight. I will reply back with details / costs surrounding the repair. I'm lucky in that I'm located in Dallas and the repair facility is in N. Fort Worth. I hope that contributes to a quick turnaround (shipping is overnight both ways). For whatever it's worth, thus far I have found LG very easy to deal with. I made a call and within 10 minutes had an email with instructions and a prepaid FedEx label. They do take care of shipping both ways.

Same as in Poland, there is free door-to-door warranty, i did send my Flex 2 two times for warranty and it took them 1 day to deliver it by DHL to LG Service across the country, second day to repair and third day to deliver it back
It doesn't appear that there will be any charge for the repairs. LG provides a repair tracker that tracks the stages of the service. As soon as the phone arrived at the facility and was formally received by LG, the "awaiting payment" indicator disappeared. The tracker states that the phone has been diagnosed and that it is currently being repaired. Hopefully, I'll have it back on Wed. Thus far, LG's warranty service has been nothing but impressive.
If some of you can get device back from LG service centre in a few days then you're lucky to have this. Last time I sent it to them it took up almost 30 days before getting the device back. So now I am very careful about what I'm doing.

I agree. I hated to have to send the phone to be repaired, but I can at least confirm that there will in fact be no charge for the repair. The phone was shipped back out to me yesterday and should be here today or tomorrow. I'm eagerly awaiting it's return as the ZTE Obsidian that I have been using in the interim is dreadful.
The phone arrived back today and it has been updated to V.511z. Everything is working great and I'm very pleased to have only been without it for 6 days as well as the fact that I didn't have to pay a cent.
Hello Everyone, I am Extremely new to posting on XDA so I am not sure if there is a standard or not. Basically The Problem I am having is that the Screen randomly turns black and does not turn back on unless connected to the charger for about a minute. I know that the phone does not die as both the digitizer and speaker continue to function. I have Tried:
-Software Initialization in SmartSwitch
-Factory Reset in Settings
-Factory Reset through Recovery Menu
-Odin reset Image 5.1.1 and 6.0.1
I also can not turn it into the Samsung Service Center as I already replaced the back of the phone in attempt to reseat the lcd/digitizer cable. If Anyone has any experience or insight into this I would fully Appreciate it. Thank You.

Does your phone function 100% as designed (i.e. are you able to use your phone) while it is turned on or does your phone gets frozen?
Is your phone still under warranty? If your phone is still under warrant call or online chat with support and get a shipping label and send it for repairs. There is no need to inform the support about what happen to your phone before. If support determines that your warranty is void they will provide a quote to repair your phone. Also you can dispute the claim that your warranty is void. If you decide not to repair the phone they will ship it back to you for free. So you have nothing to lose but a lot to gain by send your phone for repairs under warrant.
I observe that many members post questions but seems to bee too busy don't care to provide an update in this forum once the issue is resolved. Hence kindly update us of your progress as it will expand our collective knowledge.
This seems to be a common problem and it a known main board defect. I have a similar issue and I have to send for repair after I return to the US from my vacation.

Okay so I retried updating it without a reset within smartswitch and so far it hasn't turned off. Also If I did want to Ship the Phone, Will they accept warranty if there is a small crack in the bottom right of the back glass. BTW Thanks you for the reply.

In my opinion that should not void warranty (not a water damage - you could always claim that you're phone fell).
As I said if the repairs are not covered under warranty they will give you a ridiculousness high quote to repair it out of warranty and you could decline and they will ship it back to you at no cost to you. So on the downside you have nothing to lose and you will get back your phone as is but on the upside you might get lucky and get it fixed for fee

Update(June 21, 2016)- Samsung Gave a Free Label For UPS 2nd Day Air A.M. The service center they are shipping it to is only about 15 minutes away, but I am just going to utilize the label.

Ok so they had my phone since Friday, but said they received it Monday. I found out today that the back glass did cause it to not be in warranty. Fortunately, they have already sent it back to me and it should be back tomorrow. Hopefully they tried some software trick and it fixed it. Fingers crossed!
Ok so They gave me a free box with some packaging(samsung). Looks like they didn't even touch the phone as it was not factory reset.
For about a month now my Honor 8 will only charge when powered off. The rest of the time it doesn't recognize when a USB is connected. (I've tired three different cords)
I just discovered in the setting, it is permanently set to reverse charging and won't let me select any other option other than reverse charging.
Factory reset has changed nothing
Easiest option is to contact huawei support and get a replacement. Unless you try flashing stock rom again
I also would get the charger replaced alone with the phone.. May be the charger at fault and the phones gone into some. Kind of protection mode...
Same problem

Hey, did the issue get resolved for you? I am also facing the same problem.
Having the same issue with my honor 8. Anyone found a fix for this reverse charging issue?
Sent from my LG-H990 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes. I use the stock charger only. Mine will return to normal when i reboot the phone or if i plug in the charger. But the reverse charging status will again activate after couple of hours.

Anyone ever find a solution to this nightmare? It hit my Honor 8 about a week ago and I'm so mad at Honor. I had to go out and purchase a new phone because it was hit and miss whether it was going to take a charge or not. I assume I'll have to send mine in under warranty but was really hoping someone found a way to fix this software issue so I could just return my Moto Z Play. I'm happy of course that mine is still under warranty but seriously, who can send their phone in and then go without for who knows how long honor will keep it. They left me no choice so it seems this is quite common. That being said, honor should automatically send out a new replacement device and only then should we send our defected software phone in to them. Anyone please let me know if you have found a fix for this before I jump through hoops to send my device off for warranty. Thanks.
This is now a common old thing

Hii
I think you should not wait and loose evan more of your warranty period
Becouse it is now several months old thread and nobody found and solution
Let us know what thay told you and if you got an replacement for the phone at all
That way you could also help someone with some issues too
:highfive:
I do plan to return mine to Huawei Honor and I believe they are located in Texas. I'm located in Mississippi so I'm not that far from them. I have no clue as to how long they will keep it but I will indeed report back to this thread with what ever they end up doing for me on my device. They want a picture of my receipt too along with several pics of the phone. I have no problem giving the pics of the phone but I don't know where even to begin looking for my receipt. They should be able to use the IEMI number and track the when the day it went in use and there is their receipt proof of the day I purchased it. Hopefully this company will take care of me but I'm already out $400 dollars. There isn't really anything they can do now to replace my money and totally win my 100 percent loyalty back. Before this every piece of mobile tech I owned was Huawei. Not anymore bc I use Moto Z Play now because they would not send me out a replacement after I told them I cannot go without a phone.
Hii @Dconn1975
Just one thing..take some pictures and also some of the screenshots for yourself too
Couse I just few days ago had been reading that one Honor 8 owner send it to the service..
And they had told him that thay took apart the phone and found out that it had been in some kind of water
couse after opening the phone there was a green spot coused by water on the motherboard
And they did not change the phone for him
The owner knew it can not be that way so he got the phone back and than let his friend
disassemble the phone.. they did not found anything on the motherboard what they did tell him
So long story short they also lied to him and did not give him any replace
He is now here on xda asking what to do now..
So be carefull .. take some pictures of the phone.. evan some screenshots..
Just in case they come up with something and saying you void your warranty and
they wont replace your phone...
Good luck
Still no DIY fix for this issue? Sigh. Honor 8 will be my first and last Huawei phone. Won't buy this huawei **** anymore
Sent from my LG-H990 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yeah as much I have praised honor Huawei I now am done. I have to send mine back as they won't send me a replacement and who in this entire world can seriously now go without a phone. I've even won contests and free cell phones on Android central for my articles on EMUI. That's a shame too. I absolutely love EMUI and personally I do not in any way think it's anything like Android. The entire feel and experience is just that different. EMUI is 10 times smoother than Android and it's not choppy nor sticky. It has zero lag time and it can easily or could be branded as a third mobile tech software choice in addition to Android and IOS. To be honest since I went out and bought a Moto Z Play, I even doubt I'll bother sending mine in after reading the after sales stuff that Huawei does not stand behind. Plus they've cost me $399 so I'm super angry and I may have won some article contests but I can do that with another company too. I'll miss EMUI no doubt but not from what I read their after sales commitment.

Hello everyone, I have the same problem. I can charge my device by choosing charge only option and connecting the USB cable just after.
If you look at the menu showed in the notification bar it is similar to the menu option, something like USB configuration, in the developer settings. If you don't see the developer settings you have to activate them. But it is not the same menu, there is no reverse charge option. Could it be a hidden menu?
I have tried to delete the settings app data, but it hasn't helped.
Hope it could help someone to solve this issue.
usb reverse charging flickering
Im having problem with usb icon for charging is flickering. When i swipe notification screen down and tap on the notification of it it says reverse charging. When i connect charger it is ok. but when no usb cable it keeps flickering. Is there an app that disables usb entirely? The usb connector is clean and i got my honor 8 about 10 months and it started like week ago. Maybe an update to emui?. If we could just block reverse charging option that would be great.
Here is a video of it:

OP here:
So I never figured out a fix for this. I contacted Honor they were going to warranty my phone, but I had to mail it to the warranty center from a US address ( I live in Canada). So I contacted my retailer Newegg and they were awesome to deal with. I sent them my old phone (they covered shipping) and they mailed me a new one. So if this happens, I think warranty is your only option.
