Hey, I have a 4 tablets with same problem, all with cracked touchscreen.
I bought 5 new touchscreen, which marked 69.10I21.G01, but all of them refused to work, but perfectly working with other TF300, which have native 69.10I21.G01 touch.
After great research I found that my four tablets have "Touch Panel Version" 3011-4822 and 3011-4817 - on a tablet which work with new touchscreens.
Anybody know how to change firmware of touch screen panel (PCB) ?

Bump. Did you ever get it to work? I now am facing the exact same problem as you...
I have no idea if this will help, but if you go to settings - about tablet - and repeatedly tap the touch firmware line rapidly you get a firmware load screen for pad, dock, and camera. Now if touch is broken perhaps you can emulate with a mouse pointer click if you have one available. I've never used this update tool. I just know it exists.

I know this menu but as you I can't find a way to use this. I do have a mouse.
OK, so as of this post, I was able to use a bluetooth keyboard with a mouse stick in the middle and access this area with the procedure I mentioned. Now I guess it would just be a matter of getting ahold of the firmware in zip form, putting it on your internal storage, and using this tool? Again, I've never done it, making guesses here.

Are you sure your pad's touchscreen type is G01? NOT G03? Because there is another type is G03,and they're not same.

How do they differ from eachother?
I had a nonbranded one as my orig but now bought a go1 which does not work. I bet it is the ts board.

Yes, I have defined this.
G01 work with "Touch Panel Version" 3011-4822
G03 work with "Touch Panel Version"3011-4817 and also named "5158N FPC"
And I never see tablets which have touch marked G03, only 5158N FPC-1
or G01
Tried both digitizers G01 and G03
Hello,
I'v tried both G01 and G03 version on tablet (with the flex number 5158N FPC-1), but they didn't worked.
The touch panel version is 3011-4822.
Anyone a solution? Or do i need the exact same digitizer number?
Thanks
Best regards,
Albert
Just kind of curious here as I did have some serious brush with the same issue elsewhere.

This sounds confusing to me. At any rate, I'm just relating what happened in my case. Touchscreen smashed. Swapped it with new one. Dud. Got the Touchscreen PCB replaced. Upon booting, the first thing the device did after the splash screen was update the touchscreen firmware. And I was not even on stock ROM. Works fine thereafter. The custom rom then installed did not have the firmware update function, and I couldn't find a way to extract just the stock touchscreen firmware for comparison purposes.
So just to find out, I flashed the latest stock rom (extracted blob) from Asus site (10.4.2.20) through ADB . Went to Settings/About Tablet, ticked on Firmware Update. Returned with "all firmware up to date." What it tells me is that the newest stock rom contains all up-to-date firmwares, and if it doesn't, it would hunt for current ones via Firmware Update function. Seems both stock rom and the update function would collect hardware info and proceed to install the correct firmware version automatically.
So far as I know, the reported PCBs are all of the same hardware version (v1.3). If the PCB is working, firmware would be updated on its own. Don't need to do nothing. If it doesn't, then you'd have to look at the PCB itself. If you have a working PCB, you might want to put it on a tablet on which the new Touchscreen is NOT working. Just be extra careful in doing this as you might bust it in the process (see this Heading in General Section). Please report any progress if you could.
The right version?

Yes, you need to use the exact replacement for the one in your transformer!
I have found there are 4 distinctly different digitizer versions available:
1) No markings on the ribbon, with a white barcode
2) 69.10I21.G01 markings on the ribbon, with a white barcode
3) 69.10I21.G03 markings on the ribbon, with a white barcode
4) 5158N FPC-1 markings on the ribbon, with a blue barcode
I have been incorrectly sent the .G01 version twice now when the seller was actually showing pictures the 5158N FPC-1 version I need.
If anyone has a source for the 5158N FPC-1 version, I would appreciate you posting it
Etrade Supply very clearly shows the one I need on their site... but sent the G01 version. Now I am working on getting this back to China.... what a mess!
Before ordering, I would STONGLY suggest you check if they really are selling the digitizer shown. There is a lot of "bait and switch" going on.

How did you find out there are 4 different versions and why are they not compatible with any given tab? Did you do the tests yourself? How do you come to the conclusion that one needs the exact replacement? My original touchscreen had no printing. I replaced it with a GO1 and it worked fine. I'm not questioning your integrity, but in order to help others, you need to chronologically document your findings so it would make sense instead of just winging it as if it's a revelation from above.

on picture it's the 5158N FPC-1 .
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has found a source for the "5158n fpc-1" version? Has anyone tried from the shop linked in the above post?
Or got a confirmation from them that it is "5158n fpc-1"
I got one off ebay that didnt work with my tablet. Not sure what version that was because I didnt know there were different versions at the time, I have sent it back to them.
Thanks

I have had this exact same experience.. Tried G01 and G03 and no go. Original digi is long gone, but purchased last May.
What I don't follow is why the "earlier" model digitizers ,5158N FPC-1, would require the "later" version firmware, 3011-4822 vs. 17.. That just doesn't make sense..
The only 5158n fpc-1 ones I can find are $280 USD

Yea, saw that seller on ebay.. g01, g03, white label all 70.00, but 5158n almost $300.00.. Pretty f'd up.. Guessing they're out of production.
Sent an email to the seller that provided my g01 and g03 digitizers about the apparent debacle - they say they don't have a 5158n and neither does anyone else. But they will give me a refund.
I also sent a message to the sales dept of the seller at the link provided by esgts to see if the digi in the photo is the actual digi that gets shipped. Will post what I find out..

Mine was bought in April '12. It would be safe to assume yours and mine belonged to the same production batch. If its firmware got updated, what prevented yours from doing the same? Did you try to flash it with the latest stock ROM (US 10_4_2_20)? (see my question in the "Back Removed" thread).

Cracked my LCD, been looking online for a replacement screen. Unfortunately the only one available is the hitachi version. I've been looking for the sony version with part number: 60H00523. Looked through american, german, uk, taiwan and some chinese websites to no avail. Am I screwed? Anyone with the same problem with a solution?
I have been using my glacier for the past couple months and have been terribly sad that my slide is sitting there in pieces collecting dust.
I might just give in and buy another slide and hope that I get the sony version.

Cracked LCD. Need the Sony version. Where to buy?
Well doing some quick looking online it seems that the Hitachi version is the only one... and on every listing for one on every site it mentions the sony version and the S/N for it, but not where to get it. I will try and look some more for you though.
Edit: Ok... So I even found one for the Toshiba version???? But still no Sony version... I'll keep looking though.
I really do appreciate the help.
I thought I was doing something wrong but the sony lcd is no where to be found, to my knowledge. I went as far as to buy one of the hitachi lcds and tried it on my slide but the screen wouldn't even power on...
It looks like the only solution is to buy another slide and hope I get the better of the two screens and use my old slide as parts.

That may be the best option... And it seems that the desire s uses the same screen? So maybe that may be helpful, but I can't find any trace of the sony version anywhere... Only the Hitachi version and even a site that had the Toshiba version...
Edit: I found this... http://www.mengtor.com/product_show.php?category=699&pid=3463. Idk if it is the Sony version or not you may be able to call and find out, but it is a bit on the price side at $125...
Thanks for the help Marc.
I'm typing out an email to HTC support at the moment in hopes that I'll get some answers. I'm assuming that I can get my current one repaired by going straight to the source. HTC apparently offers repairs if I send out my phone, but depending on their answer/price I may go with that or just shell out and get a new one.
Side note, the sony version is S-LCD and the hitachi is just a regular LCD.

That one is the glacier/mytouch 4g lcd unfortunately.
The backing of the hitachi version is similar but the sony version looks like the attched picture of the original broken lcd.

Good luck! . And I did not no that there was a s-lcd version and a non s-lcd version. Wouldn't that be fraud on HTC's part, since they advertise it as having a s-lcd screen if the Hitachi version doesn't?

I am in the same shoes like you are. I need the Sony version as well and I can't find it. This could be "it", I am not sure though: http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-mytouch-4g-slide-lcd-screen-replacement.html. I just inquired about the P/N number, I'll let you know what I find out. Mine actually says P/N 60H00532-00P
I just found this one that matches my P/N number, it's for the HTC Rhyme though. Hmmm. But it looks like the one I need. It's out of stock right now http://www.parts4repair.com/htc-rhyme-lcd-screen-60h000532-version/ I just inquired about the availability and the price.
If you guys ever get replacement screes, please take pics when replacing!
I guess I have found the needle in a hay stack
I received an email back from repairsuniverse. They said that their screens are all Sony LCD screens with the P/N number that I need (H6000532). I placed an order with them a few minutes ago, I'll let you know if the LCD screen works once I receive it.

Disassembling the MyTouch 4G Slide is a SERIOUS pain. I broke the LCD doing it and I have taken apart a lot of phones, the MyTouch 4G Slide was my first (and last) attempt to do that. They used so much double-sided foam adhesive that there was NO way to NOT break the LCD despite heating the back with a heat gun.
How do we know what screen we have? I have a retail launch device (July 26 or something).

I guess the only way to find out what P/N you have, you would have to see the LCD when the phone is disassembled, unless there is a way to find the part number through terminal emulator or adb.

I have disassembled my other phone (n900) plenty of times, and I never anticipated that the sticky, would be so sticky!
I dropped my mt4gs in my coffee... and wanted to clean it out on the inside, but this ended up happening. I know the phone still works, I can make calls with the genius button and all, but also, in the process of ripping my lcd, the ribbon for the digitizer snapped off too. And now I have to replace both, SO....
I'm very interested if repair universe supplies the right screen as mine is the sony version as well.
I'll be waiting to see how this goes for you.
The disassembly is a pain, isn't it? I have taken apart HTC Sensations, many MyTouch 4G's and I NEVER even had any problems comparable to this.
Well, the LCD arrived on Thursday and I was really anxious to install it. Once everything was reassembled, I turned the phone on and - BLACK LCD. Now I have to go through the process of getting a Return Authorization, sending it back and getting an exchange, hopefully a compatible one. The LCD I received didn't have any P/N number on the back. I went through a couple of emails with them, requesting the correct P/N number to make sure that this didn't happen. Sigh. I'll keep you posted how it goes
Thank you for your research. I look forward to your progress.

same problem
Thanx for posting your experience. I'm having the same problem. I now have 2 MyTouch 4g slides that I Vann it find lcd's for. Ordered one from USMobileParts and black screen. I do have the part# for the original screen but it didn't match. And when I inquire about the part#, the sellers have no idea that there are more that just one screen available for this phone. Very frustrating!
But I was able to repair 3 of these without breaking the LCD. It's a real PAIN!
I think I found it!
I think I just found a website that sells the Sony version of this LCD. Here's a link: https://www.gounlock.com/details.php?itemId=7782
They specifically say that they have the Sony version and note the differences between the Sony and the Hitachi versions. It seems the Sony version has a line near the flex cable. The Hitachi version doesn't. I'm going to call just to verify and if it sounds good, I'm ordering at least three. I got this info from the folks at injuredgadgets.com Great guys.
I'll post back and let you know how it works out.
Why can't we finda ANY of the sony ones? Have we heard of anyone successfully replacing one of the hitachi screens and it worked? Hmm, maybe more than just the screen got damaged in the process of opening it? But it is interesting that no one supplies the screen..
I don't know. I just want to turn my pile of parts into a phone again.
Thanks everyone for your research.
My TF700 Screen (and digitzier) where shuttered (I left it on the car roof and drove, when I realized what I have done and drove back, I saw it on the road after a car drove over it).
Luckily, everything seems to works fine (connected it through HDMI and USB mouse) and aside some metal dents, it seems fully functional.
My question:
My digitizer flat cable has the marking "5184N FPC-1 REV: 3" while every LCD+digitizer combo out there has the marking "5184N FPC-1 REV: 2".
(Interestingly enough, when buying digitizer alone, there are planty of rev 3 ones).
Does it matter?

Sure, here are some pictures, I hope my s2 camera can communicate the subtle dents, if not, I can later take some shots with a real camera.
(Note that I opened the tablet, you'll notice at the upper right corner what seems like a seperation of the metal casing, it's not, I just placed the screen on top loosely to take the pictures).
I also posted the sleeve the TF700 was in during "the incident". The wheel marks off the case are already gone, but back then I tried to measure them against my car's wheel, and they where almost the same width, so I assessed (maybe wrongfully?) that it matches roughly a mid-size family car (I drive a Renault Fluence).
Solved - YAY
I thought I'd post an epilog...
I've ordered and received the replacement panel, set me back ~129 USD (including shipping)
(Ordered from Aliexpress.com).
Replacement require you to be super gentle, those little hinges on the connector will break super-easly, do not apply for to them, they should be lifted up to remove the cable and pressed down to secure it.
Since the metal casing got dents hear and there, the screen doesn't sit 100% (you'll notice it in the picture) but it's really not too bad.
(I could of course try and re-dent it so it fits more tightly in, maybe I will do so eventually).
All in all, it was a positive experience, everything works smooth, screen looks great, I personally can't tell any diff from the original screen in term of sharpness, colors, brightness etc.
Best regards.

i would like to if it is possible to use the 5184N FPC-1 REV: 2 when orginally it was a 5184N FPC-1 REV: 3. Will it work in the tablet

Have similar problem with revision number.
My TF700 has TCP10D47 rev V.02, but on ebay available only v0.1.
Some sellers wrote in item description that v.01 and v0.2 are compatible, some that not compatible.
Does anyone have information about revision compatibility ?

My TF700 has TCP10D47 rev V.02, but on ebay available only v0.1.
Some sellers wrote in item description that v.01 and v0.2 are compatible, some that not compatible.
Does anyone have information about revision compatibility ?

I rolled those dice. The v.01 worked in place of my v.02 without issue. The worst was waiting for the part.

Hi Guys,
I have a source for revision 3.0 but they want $129.00CAD each, I am going to try a Revision 2 on this tablet and I will post back my findings.

I can confirm that the "5184N FPC-1 REV: 2" works on tablets that have a broken "5184N FPC-1 REV: 3" digitizer. Just fixed mine and it touching perfectly.

No need to flash anything, just remove the old, connect the new, power up and everything works?
My wife stepped on my TF700 (my fault, had it on the floor next to our bed, she came in and it was pitch dark...).
I have just cracked it open by the help from the tool set and instructions on ifixit.com, and noticed the digitizer is a Rev 3, but the ebay and aliexpress are Rev 2.
So if I understand you correctly, I should just go ahead and buy one of the 5184 fpc 1 Rev 2 digitizers and install it as soon as it arrives...
Thanks,
Christopher

Yes that is correct the 5184 focus rev 2 will work on your tablet. Based on what happened it seems your LCD is fine so you are in luck. There is a thin plastic frame between the LCD (led) and digitizer. Use a hair dryer to melt the glue so you can remove the LCD first then try to remove all the cracked glass off the frame. Its very time consuming so be patient. Remember to also buy some two sided sticky tape to seal the new digitzer back into place.
Good luck!!

Best regards.

can you please share the aliexpress supplier for the touch screen glass? my 3 year old tossed my pad like a Frisbee and need to replace.
How about replacing a Rev 3 with an 01?
I purchased a Rev 2 to replace my Rev 3 a month ago, it worked perfect - until today when my 9 month old daughter pulled the tablet down from the table by the charge cable. It apparantly landed on the corner so the digitizer is once again cracked.
To my surprise the price of the Rev 2 digitizers seems to have gone up by 3X, at least on eBay.
Rev 1 (or .01, or 0.1) are still reasonably priced.
Can I go for a Rev 1 for my tablet who originally had a Rev 3 that was successfully replaced by a Rev 2?
Has anyone tried?
Thanks,
Christopher
Rev 3 available from eBay @ $110:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400623625242
Just ordered, seller has 2 left.
I just scanned aliexpress, no Rev 3 or Rev 2 (0.2) available (at least not for sane amounts of $$).
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but finding an answer to my problem I think this is the best bet.
I have a rev 2 that according to the ASUS repair centre needed to be replaced as I experienced sporadic touch registrations on the screen from time to time. On-line I could only find the rev 3 digitizer and after reading someone used a .2 to replace a .3 I figured it would work.
So after the long wait finally arrived and I went though the pain-staking process of removing the old LCD and .2 digitizer.
But ever since installing the .3 it detects very little to no input.
I plugged the old one back in and just left it hanging to the side and that seems to be working, but strange no go with the new one.
Someone mentioned a firmware a few posts back, is this something I need to look more into for compatibility with the rev .3?
Thanks!

Hehe, that did happen to some of us. In my case, I first flashed the 4820 TS firmware. If that doesn't stop the mad behaviour, then carefully remove the TS ribbons from the board, and tape them on top of the connectors, making sure they don't touch any conducting metal parts.

Nothing is broken apart from the TS. But when you have it connected, it acts crazy. Replace it and it should be fine.

I get the phantom touches constantly, so it's just bad ribbons and taping them will definitely stop it?

Not sure what the question is, but taping the ribbons to the connectors is just a stopgap measure when you for some reason must keep the broken digitizer on (as in waiting for the replacement to come in the mail). It might work or not (does in my case, where if ghost touches hit, all I need do is reboot). So I wouldn't say "definitely." What's your situation?

sometimes the screen goes crazy and starts zooming in and touching areas when I'm not touching the screen, when I put it back in to sleep and then unlock it again its fine, and then also somewhere in the upper right portion of the screen it's send like out didn't react to the touch so well especially when I'm scrolling and hit that part of the screen it'll stop then either act as if I did a long press or act as if I clicked on the browser url.

If you have an undamaged digitizer that acts on its own, you're not alone. Most of the time, the remedy is in reflashing the TS frmware. You need to know what type it is so you can select the correct firmware though. Pop the back cover open and look. Check this thread for troubleshooting tips.

Would be nice if someone has any NEW light to this matter "Crazy screen"
Me too have this problem and been reading everything in here to remedy that problem.
that 50 page long thread has gone to more questions than answers.
it seems that replacing the TS and the board and the 4820 firmware still gives the "Crazy screen"
I've seen even a brand new TF300T without any visible defect that has the same fault.
has anybody found other firmware to TF300T than 4820.. maybe it isnt 100% compatible with all cheep china TS?

I ordered a cheap g01 for 43 bucks. I then flashed 4820 firmware. No problem at all and its more responsive than the original 5158n.
The boards do also go bad apparently. You can pick one up for 15 usd on ebay. Regardless what version the board came from, you will have to flash.
I recommend every one with issues go with the g01 as its firmware is readily available and actually has a proven track record of working. Its also the cheapest version available ( mine was also an original Asus part for that price )
Just make sure you have root access first.

Glad to hear happy stories.. too little of them here
i replaced mine TS g01 without changing firmware (i had 4822).
i ran it about 9-10 hours straight and no glitch at all before it began to ghosting.
and then flashed the TS firmware to 4820 with no difference (still ghosting)
i think people have triggered the same problem when replace their TS. (it wasn´t "the cap" problem) and will not necessarily engage immediately after the replacement.
it's really a ghost story.

In that case its either a bad board, or a bad digitizer. There were reports of new screens that looked intact actually having micro fractures that dont act up until the unit had been on and running ( heating up ). I'd try the TS / Micro SD daughterboard first though as its cheaper and easy to access. Worst case scenario is you get a spare or see if someone here wants to pick it up from you. For $15 its worth a shot.
Heres the exact OEM G01 I ordered ( It does have the Asus Logo )
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360697697608?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I cant find any cheap boards on ebay right now but they are frequently listed in the 15-20$ range. You will just have to keep your eyes peeled I guess.

i did it with cheap "OTG Host Kit Adapter tf300t" from ebay and usb mouse.. easy as with working TS.
here is the report.
Now i have replaced the new TS. and the Ghost Story is still there?
But it is not random anymore. Now it is only one dot ghosting all the time? (top right corner). I assembled it twice but no avail.
by the way, they sent me "White label" version instead of G01 and i think it worked better (less ghosting).
interesting to hear opinions?

sorry to reply like this.. but i thought maybe you respond if it is to your own response.
hope someone has some light to my discovery.??
only one dot left now .. any suggestions ??
so about a week ago I purchased a tab 2 from a "friend". he said it had a cracked screen and he just replaced the digitizer. and it looked good and everything. so I paid him, then got home and noticed there are 2 zones on my screen that are completely unresponsive. he also replaced the back case of it, and its the wrong one. so I told him about the screen and he just said sorry, guess I didn't use it enough before I sold it to notice it...so I cant get my money back or anything, so im taking it upon myself to fix this.
I know the digitizers have different rev's. right now it has a rev 3 digitizer. my "friend" also threw away the original digitizer so I have no clue which one I need.
my questions is, is there any way to figure out which exact digitizer I need??? or is it possible that the rev 3 is the right one and this one is just gone bad/cheap?
I need help ASAP! I want this fixed and sold and off my hands. I also already searched around for a solution but found nothing....
thanks to anyone that can help!

I know this is late but if it's a REV.03 you should get another REV.03. As long as it works it's the right version. Your screen is either defective, has dirty contacts (use eraser to clean), or inserted crooked.
Mine on the other hand has no REV# printed on the digitizer cable and I can't figure out which one works with it. I have a REV.01 and REV.03 right now and neither of them work. Only the mysterious original screen with a crack will work.
Different revisions on digitizers
I noticed there are several revisions on digitizers. Mine apparently is a REV 0.0 since there are no markings. I asked a supplier and they told me what revision I have. They also said they did not stock REV 0.0. My question is does anyone know a good supplier that carries all revisions of digitizers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is for a GT-5113TS
I"m in the same boat!
Hi, I have exactly the same issue, I've tried a rev 3 and it doesn't work at all. My original works fine but is shattered and there are no markings at all on the flex cable. I was also told that mine is a rev 0.0 but can't find one anywhere. I noticed that if you look closely at the connectors on the flex cables the original has all of the contacts and the rev 0.3 is missing the #2 contact. Let me know if you find one that will work.
I just swapped out a broken digitizer with a REV02 and it doesn't work, on the broke one it doesn't say REV but it has MCF-101-0403-V3 ISU 1238. Does that mean its REV03?
same problem
I broke my tab screen a while back and have so far been sent two note screens' and 4 screens of what i imagine are either wrong version or defective. Dod you ever solve your problem
First post, complete noob, so I apologize.
Someone just gave me a TF300T that had a broken LCD and touch screen on it and I thought I would replace them, they seem to go for about $70 for both parts. Seems like its worth it since used ones go for about $130 on ebay.
My LCD screen says its a Rev 4, but I cant really seem to figure out the touchscreen version. I only see G01 and G03 version kits on ebay.
I attached a photo of the numbers on the touch screen ribbon.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
anyone?
your touch screen is No version
