so about a week ago I purchased a tab 2 from a "friend". he said it had a cracked screen and he just replaced the digitizer. and it looked good and everything. so I paid him, then got home and noticed there are 2 zones on my screen that are completely unresponsive. he also replaced the back case of it, and its the wrong one. so I told him about the screen and he just said sorry, guess I didn't use it enough before I sold it to notice it...so I cant get my money back or anything, so im taking it upon myself to fix this.
I know the digitizers have different rev's. right now it has a rev 3 digitizer. my "friend" also threw away the original digitizer so I have no clue which one I need.
my questions is, is there any way to figure out which exact digitizer I need??? or is it possible that the rev 3 is the right one and this one is just gone bad/cheap?
I need help ASAP! I want this fixed and sold and off my hands. I also already searched around for a solution but found nothing....
thanks to anyone that can help!

I know this is late but if it's a REV.03 you should get another REV.03. As long as it works it's the right version. Your screen is either defective, has dirty contacts (use eraser to clean), or inserted crooked.
Mine on the other hand has no REV# printed on the digitizer cable and I can't figure out which one works with it. I have a REV.01 and REV.03 right now and neither of them work. Only the mysterious original screen with a crack will work.
Different revisions on digitizers
I noticed there are several revisions on digitizers. Mine apparently is a REV 0.0 since there are no markings. I asked a supplier and they told me what revision I have. They also said they did not stock REV 0.0. My question is does anyone know a good supplier that carries all revisions of digitizers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is for a GT-5113TS
I"m in the same boat!
Hi, I have exactly the same issue, I've tried a rev 3 and it doesn't work at all. My original works fine but is shattered and there are no markings at all on the flex cable. I was also told that mine is a rev 0.0 but can't find one anywhere. I noticed that if you look closely at the connectors on the flex cables the original has all of the contacts and the rev 0.3 is missing the #2 contact. Let me know if you find one that will work.
I just swapped out a broken digitizer with a REV02 and it doesn't work, on the broke one it doesn't say REV but it has MCF-101-0403-V3 ISU 1238. Does that mean its REV03?
same problem
I broke my tab screen a while back and have so far been sent two note screens' and 4 screens of what i imagine are either wrong version or defective. Dod you ever solve your problem

Okay strait to the point! I've got a Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 bought it 4 months ago.
I accidently dropped my phone and cracked my screen on the bottom right corner. The crack went from bottom and a diagonal line up til the right side. I took a picture below.
imageshack(.)us/photo/my-images/685/20120326152703.jpg
This happened about 2 months ago. No problem since. I dropped the phone a few times afterward but it didnt seem to affect it lucky me.
Yesterday i tried watch some series over my WIFI and the phone got really hot around the camera area. The phone wasn't acting well either and then battery dropped from 75% til about 10% in 10 minutes without any video still showing up. (Never had that problem before). I stopped using it and instead put it on recharge for the next day. And today on the morning it was still okay. Went to school and back with the mobile still working. Put it on my table and checked my PC.
About 2 hours later while cheking up on my galaxy i discovered this.

I think that the LCD finally busted but i need to be sure if it has something to do with the previous crack and also if you could provide any info about what to do with it? Does my warrenty cover this? Or do i need extra insuranse?
I really need help right now LCD blackned spots
The screen has started to turn black from the core of the LCD leak. I now really think this is a broken LCD screen and not a software problem. If someone knows what i could do to fix this i really could need the help right now.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong,
But it sounds to me like you've busted the digitizer portion of your device. As to it being caused by the small crack on your screen.. i don't really know(can't really see if it's a crack in the glass or digi). At any rate, judging from the second picture you provided us it most definitely looks like you damaged the digitizer.
Most companies don't really cover damaged screens caused by users. However, being that your S2 is only 4 months old you could possibly pass it as "it did it by itself, I don't know what happen". Worth a shot I guess...
If all fails you could bring it to a electronics repair shop or you can repair it yourself via a digitizer part bought on ebay(probably pretty expensive being that its part of the screen)
If all else fails check ebay for a new screen.

If your thinking about taking the DIY road I found a screen for you.Quick note about buying something overseas on eBay: it usually takes awhile for the part to ship and even when you get it, the part may not be functional. But don't fret, eBay is usually pretty good about stuff like this so a working part will be guaranteed or your money back!
If you do decide to repair it yourself I would first research A LOT about your phone. Especially, the disassembly guide! Try to use only credible guides such as iFixit, repair universe etc.
This only applies to flex ribbon cables:
when replacing screens sometimes you have to plug it in a few times before you actually get it to respond(could be cause by oxidation of the pins) if thats the case, you could try to take a #2 pencil eraser and gently rub against the pins and remove the oxidation...
Good Luck!
Please let me know how it goes!

Yes it is really a crack and a very annoying one. It doesn't cause any problems with the touch-function, so I've been using it normally but for the screen, it has gone completely black but for the top right part still a little darkblue. I think I'm going with your first answer and try to check it in on warranty have had a bit luck with it past couple of times but im not sure about changing it myself. If having no luck with warranty then maybe ill try doing it myself.
at any rate weather you get warranty to change it or you fix it yourself maybe youll learn to be more careful and get a case maybe???
So i am about to try and replace the glass on my extra Sensation and I wanted to see if anyone had a hard time doing this. I was able to find the replacement glass on Amazon for 26 buck shipped!!
If anyone could maybe chime in and lend any hand, that would be great...
Its not too hard, although I've had issues with replacement digitizers, seems like every one in three will have a portion of it unusable for some reason.

I came across this-- Apparently if you update to software version 1.50.401.1. kernel version 2.6.35.13-g1e13373 (Sep 5 2011) this digitizer should work, but that update is not available OTA in the U.S. yet. So make sure you get the exact same model number if you plan on replacing your glass.
and this-- I've got the T-mobile version of the HTC Sensation. Everything worked fine after I installed this new digitizer, but it had a slight lag after unlocking the phone. It progressively got worse, until it started lagging for ~20 seconds and I could barely manage to answer a call. I did some research and apparently there are several different models of the Sensation digitizer, and most of them have issues with the Tmobile phones.
The digitizer I received was model number:
PYD V1.0
E219454<>1
ruICACichia
94V-0 1112
Whereas, my factory Tmobile model number was:
PYD V1.0
SW-10 94V-0
E308252 1115
do you have any input on this?
sorry for all of the questions but i want to make sure this is done right and working great.
Best bet is to match those model numbers.

I did it on mine and it was easy. Just make sure you've got a suuuuper tiny phillips screwdriver and a T5. Also get a roll of 2mm wide 3M double sided tape to seal the digitizer. I didn't and I have a million dust bunnies in there now :/
BTW, I have a z710a and I just bought a random digitizer off Amazon. No compatibility issues for me.
Same here.
Changed Digitizer and LCD Screen in one Action.
I´m not a Clockmaker but no Problems so far.
I´m owner of a Sensation XE but i don´t like the red Touch Buttuns.
So I bougt the Parts of a normal Sensa with the grey Touch Buttons.
Also here no compatibility Problems.

If you are looking for a digitizer i have one. Its not easy but when i bought it i tore one of the small strips that go to the screen on the mainboard and then it was shot. So i had to make an insurance claim. PM Me

Hi,
I came across this topic via search.
I got HTC sensation, and my glass is broken.
I saw some issues about replacing it. people told me that there are some kinds of glasses, with different thickness levels. which sould i buy?
I saw people saying that if you change only the glass, you may have problems and you need to replace the whole digitizer. Is it right? should I replace the whole digitizer with the glass?
There are different types of digitizers, as the quote above describing. how can I know which digitizer to buy? and how can I Match those model numbers?
Thanks!!

hey, can any 1 answer my question please?
Thanks.
Ok, so I've been checking this back every once in a while to see if anyone else managed to break their GS3. So far I haven't seen much, so... I happened to break the glass and digitized on my GS3 and it seems they sell A LOT of LCD replacements on ebay. Has anyone else tried this option and does it work or must it be Amoled?

First off, you have to buy one for the i515, do not get on for the i9300. The i9300 is the international model and the i515 is the Verizon model. They could have different connectors (haven't looked yet). You managed to break the glass and digitizer? That's an expensive fix with screens like the S3's. You are looking at over $200 currently.
You would have to go with something like this.
Here's a picture walk through.
Yep, turned on the power and just a black screen even though it vibrates turning on. With the one you posted however, it still says lcd, that is not a problem?

I'm guessing that they just mislabeled it as LCD. Just email the seller and ask if it is amoled and OEM. How did you manage that? Is it actually broken or just not powering on?
I'll do that, as everyone I look at says LCD. Also, not sure if its not powering on or broken (possibly a loose cable but highly doubtful). I broke it when I laid down a motorcycle and it hit the road pretty good.

I have never taken apart a Note 10.1 ... BUT!
What I would do is remove the screen and go through the install process again. Make sure all cables are plugged in properly

thanks, that's one thing I'm planning on doing, cause I'm wondering if something was missed, but like how the screen comes on and it detects the pen.
I replaced my digitizer 2 months ago and it worked fine until now. It has all kinds of "phantom" touching going to the point where it's barely usable, but recognizes the Spen fine. I checked the connections and wiped all data and flashed a backup, but nothing helped. It's also doing the phantom touches in recovery, so I figure it's pretty safe to assume that the digitizer is the problem.
I'm getting a replacement digitizer on Friday, so hopefully that is indeed the problem. Let me know if you find anything else out.

I by no means an expert, but I'm guessing it's your digitizer. If you just got it last week, you could contact the seller and see if they'll do anything to help. Did you buy it off ebay, or where? Mine will be here tomorrow, hopefully I'll find time to get it in and see if that was really my problem.

Ok arrived in US today wil try and get another
I bought a digitizer that didn't work too. It seems to be a bit of luck involved getting one that does.
Not all digitizers we can buy for our note 10.1 are the same. There seem to be many different manufacturers.
What does it say on the ribbon of the digitizers you guys bought that didn't work?

Okay, I just got my replacement one in and my tablet is back to normal. The ribbon of the one that didn't work said "Expresso 10 0.3T_Rev03 YP1214/ LF_A_G 2012.03.08"
The one I just put in (got both of these from the same EBAY seller) just says "NOTE 10"
So far it works fine, but the first one worked for 2 months before giving up.
Wow nice I cant even remember where I got this one.
But glad you got that working
If you can send me the link for the one you bought would appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi everyone
I broke the screen on my tablet over a year ago, had the screen replaced with a new one but when i got it back the touch didnt work. The guy seemed like he was sorry about it so he only ended up charging me 30 bucks and said something else is wrong. i was skeptical about it cause with the cracked screen the top corner still responded to touch and now nothing works
...long story short i did some research and saw that theres a few different types of screens for the 300 i figured they may have put the wrong one on so i removed the back to check the version number (it is written on the cable that goes from the glass to the tablet).
However. On my tablet there is no cable at all... i guess i got screwed by the place they put a defective screen or something... Either way of course the touch isnt working the cable isnt even there...
all i need to know is if theres another way to find the version number for the lcd they are pretty cheap online im just going to take a stab at fixing this myself..
ive asked asus that was a waste of time they advised me to send it in they would fix it for 250...ya right

Do you still need help with this? If you do, open the tab, take all necessary precautions with the battery, remove all boards and cables, and look where the digitizer's ribbons should be. If they're not there, it means they've been ripped when the "repairman" reassembled the thing. If the lcd still works, all you need is a new digitizer. A G01 would work across the board and is cheap. Go to this thread for more info. Good luck.
Thank you I had given up for a while but just wiped the dust off this thing yesterday...I'll give it a try
