Atrix 2 Purchase - Motorola Atrix 2

Hey guys, I was thinking about buying one of these phones second hand.
Can someone tell me where the water damage indicators are?
Are there any special seals or stickers that could void the warranty if broken? (I know HTC covers one of its screws with a small sticker)
Thanks for your help

There will be a small white (if no water damage) 'sticker' on both the battery as well as inside the battery compartment, on the larger sticker that shows the IMEI number...

Any seals or ways to know if it's been tampered with?

I had a non android motorola a few years back and i dropped it in water. That white sticker turned into a pink color. The service center guy also confirmed the color change is due to contact with water.

No seals, per say, but if the sticker has been removed, it's obvious that is has been so. Also, if an "attempt" to remove the sticker(s), a line of small "x's" will show where the sticker was, a srot of 'tamper evident' sticker...

water damage?

I got the tb on 3-28-11. From day 1 it has been in a protective case and has a screen cover. Today I took it out of the case and got in the phone for the SD card. When I pulled the battery out I noticed a white sticker on the battery with small d'a thru it. Then to the left while looking on the back on the left side I see a small black sticker with a white word saying void.
My question is does this mean it has water damage? I'm not sure how that's possible because I have kept it excellent condition. I have not once had the phone near water and pretty much treated this phone like gold.
Am I just reading it wrong or is there damage? I have not had any problems with the phone but I'm concerned.

Did you buy it from Verizon or best buy?
I'm pretty sure the void sticker is covering a screw that must be removed to open the case. Hence if you open the case this void sticker will be gone and Verizon won't honor your warranty.
Edit: there should be a white sticker with a red dot or line that will bleed and turn pinkish if there is water damage

When I worked selling phones we used to use stickers like that to tell if there was water damage and sometimes they would be activated inadvertantly by customers who would take their phones into the bathroom, close the door, not have a window or fan on, and take a very hot, steamy shower. Mind you though, these were POS flip/candybar phones at the time, nothing as sophisticated as a Thunderbolt.
I bought the phone from a Verizon store in fenton Missouri. I am 99% sure it was a corporate store. I searched the back of the phone and there is no other sticker. The only one seen was on the battery.
As far as the steam in the shower the phone has not entered the bathroom once with me. I know what the white sticker would look like cause I've seen it on the back of other phones I had but not this one.
This is puzzling me and I don't want an issue exchanging this phone out in the future I have a true malfunctioning issue.
Hmm usually the sticker turns red on the battery when activated by water the void sticker is covering a screw to get to it you must tear this sticker showing you have tamper with the phone. In my opinion the phone should be fine you can buy a new battery if your worried.

This is true. The sticker you see is for unauthorized disassembly.
There is another indicator for water.
Kk just double checking. I've had great phones in the past but this is the first time I spent this much money on a phone. Maybe I'm just being paranoid just wanna double check just in case. But other than that I love this phone.
U don't have water damage. That's how the strickers look on the TB. The comment about the void sticker is right. Verizon uses that to make sure the casing of the phone wasn't opened.

This is the easiest void sticker though I've seen to remove its not recessed like most. If you ever need to get into the phone the sticker is easily removed with a safety pin and care and replaced just as easy.

[Q] Trigger Water Damage Indicator... but no water damage?

Reading a thread here on XDA, I decided to look at my water damage indicator out of curiosity.
To my surprise, the water damage indicator had been triggered... well, only half of it has been triggered. I've never thrown it in water. It's never come in contact with water at all.... although, I do keep it in my pocket and the temperature around here is humid as all hell. The phone works fine, hell, there's nothing wrong with this phone. I'm just trying to rack my brain thinking what could have triggered it.
Is there anything I can do? Am I out of warranty? Are there more water damage indicators inside the phone that would prove this phone has not been water damaged? Does HTC have the same water damage policy like Apple? (where Apple will inspect the device a second time to find out if the indicator was falsely triggered)
Probably from moisture in the air.
Do you have it in the bathroom while you take showers? Because that could cause it.

When you take hot showers, leave your phone out of the bathroom. That will trigger it

I've seen this before, where several XDA users on past HTC devices reported the stickers changed colors, despite no known exposure to moisture. As mentioned, even highly humid environments may trigger the stickers to change. But I bet its possible that some stickers are defective altogether, and turn pink for no reason.
Not sure how AT&T deals with the stickers, if you go through them. But other folks on these forums report that HTC is pretty fascist about the stickers. If its pink, they will deny your warranty and send the phone back to you. They don't do any "secondary" inspections that I know of.

Hmm, while I don't take my phone into the showers, I do encounter similar environments with conditions like a hot bathroom. (Think kitchen and freezers, etc.)
Is there anything I can do? Am I screwed out of a warranty? Should I bleach the sticker?

If there is nothing wrong with the phone, don't mess with it. Sticking bleach in your phone is going to be worse than just some sticker being pink.
Plus, HTC always puts multiple moisture sensors in their phones. So you're not going to be able to get to all of them unless you take the phone apart. Again, you're likely to just do more damage than good.
If for some reason, you need to return your phone for repair, then maybe worry about it. Otherwise, if its not broke, don't fix it.
Not to bring back a dead thread, but my internal mic stopped working on my phone, and I took a look at the water damage sensor, the same thing had happened, half of it was red the other half white. My phone has NEVER been exposed to water, but it is possible that standard California moisture is to blame. AT&T would have denied my warranty claim because the sticker is pink, so I simply scratched off the sticker and replaced with a white label the same size and got it swapped out.
I couldn't find the water damage sticker on my HTC one X. Where it is supposed to be? I've looked at the SIM slot and there is nothing there. My phone has been to HTC repair once, is it possible that they took it out for any reason?

I think some has mentioned that there may be one inside the headphone jack. As I mentioned above, HTC typically installs multiple stickers, and they are not always in the same locations (even for the same model phone). There are probably also stickers inside that you can't see unless you take the phone apart.

water damage stickers?

Hey Guys,
I've searched the forum to no avail and was wondering if anyone knew where all the water damage stickers on the phone are located. I know there's one behind the battery and one on the battery itself. Are there any others I can see for myself?
I'm asking because I seem to have damaged my phone while applying a wet skin protector. After applying it my speaker has been popping and crackling more than a box of rice crispies. However those 2 water damage stickers have not been tripped (or i don't think they have -- still show red x's and no bleeding). Thankfully I have insurance and was wondering if I should take it to a verizon store and have them examine it or if I should just go directly through Asurion.
It's been 2 days now and the problem has persisted -- do you think the old rice treatment will help at all at this point? Thanks for your input, love the forums and the community.

Rice treatment will probably not work. And if the placement are anything similar to how Apple does it, than they put the water stickers on top of screws inside the phone on the mother board.

Usually the are 2 more inside the phone. These are probably OK too. I have had this problem just take it to Verizon don't say anything about the liquid damage abf get a new one.

[Q] Just dropped my phone :(

Just dropped my phone off a table, it took two huge, white scratches
The dumbest thing was I put it in a tissue box to prevent it falling and the phone fell out of it when my elbow pushed the box sideways off the table.
I've colored the white scratches over black permanent marker, any chance I can get a new housing from warranty? I haven't rooted. I have got a tiny bit of MAO chipping around the USB port and top edge of the phone. Have I just voided my warranty by dropping it?
Thanks in advance.
Didn't void your warranty, from my understanding htc replaces removable parts once... Like housing on the sensation or amaze, battery and such... Since the housing and battery aren't technically meant to be removed I'm not sure they would be willing to do so. : /
Edit: they may replace the cover that you pop off to insert the sim. I can't imagine them doing the rest of the housing, would probably say you need to send it in. Worth a shot to ask though

White Residue Under the Back Cover

I bought a used Oneplus One recently and it works and looks great. I suppose my only concern is when I took the back cover off there was some white residue on one side along with a bit on the inside of the cover. I'm not sure if this is just residue from the manufacturing process or something but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else who had taken the back cover off seen something similar to put my mind at ease. I have checked the water damage indicator in the headphone jack and it was white so I don't think it's water damage at least. Here is a picture

This is a white sticker on one of the screws. If the sticker is damaged, then the warranty on the phone is void. Basically, this sticker is used to decide of the phone is meddled or not.

I don't think so, when looking at it directly, it looks more like a powdery texture.

I don't think it's the warranty sticker to be honest considering you can see the white on the bottom right as well. Is it possible it might have been the back cover somehow rubbing against the housing of the phone? I don't think the person I bought it from used a case so perhaps pressure from his hand could have caused something like that. Think it would be alright cleaning it with alcohol?
