The international version of the XT910 gets ICS today, reports GSMArena.com
I almost forgot my experiences from the Cliq and Cliq 2, but when Motorola says an update is ready at quarter whatever, they NEVER EVER mean at the beginning of the quarter.

It's Motorola. They say, "unlocked bootloaders soon," they mean "shut up about unlocked bootloaders." They say, "update in Qx," they mean "update in late Qx or the next quarter after that."
Basically, Google needs to shove its hand up Motorola's butt and turn it into a puppet for it to be respectable in any update or development-related areas.
This things of searching for updates every 4 hours is driving me crazy, i want ICS Now Motorola, did you hear that? You locked us down with the bootloader, at least give us updates more frequently, is that so hard ? Just ask to the developers to work more and stop fooling around in the office.

The soak hasn't even started yet. Then there'll be further ironing out of the bugs. We're looking at a month here. Save your time and find something useful to do.

Yeah, that's my estimation too. Probably Q4 - End of September / beginning of October.

You need to be patient!
Too many people on here are all bent out of shape that they don't have the "official" ICS yet. Heck be glad you will get it at all, whenever it does come, because a whole lot of phones are not getting it at all.
Checking for an update so often is just a waste of time, until we start to hear that others are seeing at least the SOAK, and guess what, that still has not been released to those on the SOAK list.
Again just be patient, it will get here, when it get's here.

There's a big problem with that Jim. I don't know of many instances where it would be acceptable for a company to issue a date for the availability of a product or service, and then push back that deadline multiple times. My clients would ditch me and go with the competition if I ran my business like that.
Which brings me to the part where we should all just be thankful to get ICS at all, because so many other phones will not. Well Jim, I bought a really expensive phone with above average hardware. I would except nothing less than getting ICS in a timely manner. With so much competition around - HTC and your own Samsung - Motorola should be very interested in keeping me happy and loyal, and making sure that my expensive devices are up-to-date and competitive.
That, Jim, is what I should be able to expect from Motorola as a customer. People in the category of 'glad you will get it at all, whenever it does come, because a whole lot of phones are not getting it at all.' - Those are iPhone owners who know they buy a product with restrictions in order to own a 'life style product'.
I will not accept to be treated like this by Motorola, with empty promises of unlocked bootloaders, and repeatedly pushed back deadlines for software releases. That is not good customer care, and Motorola won't be the brand of my next cell phone. And by the looks of it, Jim, you didn't like your Atrix 2 enough to not get a SGS 3 as well.
If I had a SGS 3 I wouldn't really worry about the ICS release for Atrix 2 so much either...

Again, wait for it... wait for it...
You bought the ticket, you take the ride (HST) so therefore, don't go around expecting a mega corporation to listen to your squeaks. You may own a small business, or a semi-large scale one, but regardless, you are nothing more than a speck on the radar of Motorola, nor am I, nor is Jim or any other person here or beyond. That being said, don't expect that just because you had certain expectations that you held prior to, and during your purchase of the ATRIX 2 that you'd get to have your cake and eat it also. Clearly, it ain't so.
Furthermore, companies do this sort of thing all the freaking time, it isn't something new, nor is it unheard of. As they say in the transportation industries, "nothing's certain in the shipping business". Same goes for technology. Software isn't something that is like a shoe, which can be mass produced after testing on a robotic "foot" for a couple of weeks. It has to be fully tested by numerous factorizations both in user capacities and otherwise.
If you feel Motorola owes you a 'timely' delivery of ICS, write them a nice letter. I'm sure it will get opened and read around the time that your letter to Santa Claus arrives to the North Pole. Both are about as useless as the other.
Quit spamming the board with 'who got what when' with a follow-up pouty faced retort about why you have this enormous sense of entitlement to get the update as you see fit.
This ain't the place for that...

Wow I don't even know where to start with how wrong your post is.
I think this is the best comparison.... Say you buy a computer and it comes with windows xp installed and you are told by the store you bought it at that windows 7 is supposed to be out in the 2nd quarter and it is April. Now since it is April are you going to go to that store and whine because Microsoft is "late", or call dell or HP. Guess what there was no promise that windows 7 or 8 is guaranteed to run on your "newish" PC...
I do own my own company and all I provide is services and no products.
If I am late on a project it is not even the same as a company that sells hardware, and gives you the software for... wait for it... free. Even then it is usually 1 upgrade in the smartphone market. Guess what we have had our one upgrade already. Moto owes you nothing. Besides you bought the phone not a copy of android from Motorola/Att. Microsoft NEVER gives you a free upgrade to the next version.
P.S. we are still in the third quarter, and moto is technically not "late" on their delivery, nor have they pushed it back even once, it will still be 3rd quarter, just late 3rd quarter.
Now, grow up and stop posting crap and new threads that have nothing to do with the atrix 2. Or jump in and help dev and get us some great stuff as myself and others have been doing for 10 months now.
Also the ONLY reason I got an sgs3 is because I am a cyanogenmod dev now, and I need a phone that can run official builds. I am still sticking with the atrix 2 and still doing dev work for it.
In other words put up or shut up. By doing what you are doing does not make ics come any faster and it just pisses this community off, because we are not the ones holding it back.
We all need to calm down a bit.. yes nobody is happy with Moto's poicies, the bootloader and all, but as far as ICS is concerned, they have promised us it in Q3 and we are still in middle of it, a whole 45 days to go. One thing that we need to understand is ICS is a big leap from Gingerbread. When ICS was out i thought we can see it on devices in few months, but the fact that CM9 stable is out now, tells us the story.
We made a choice, of choosing A2, instead of many other top dogs of that time. We love the hardware, the capabilities and everything else. Even now when i see the SGS II, the build quality i know i have made the right choice, yeah it aint comforting when i see those guys running plethora of ROMs though.
Bottom line is you made your choice stick to it and wait, wait until Moto gives you ICS.. or start a campaign, better for bootloader unlock though.. that way we dont have to wait this long for updates.
Edit: the most funny part of my post? My signpic
Ps: Apex, calm down a bit mate, you are not going well with these type of posts. Yeah i know most of them are ridiculous but ignoring will be a good idea. And Jim's reputation wont change wee bit with these kind of posts. You guys are rock stars and just keep rocking.

My bid is 50. Any takers?
No offense, but what Treo have you loaded the WM6 OS on? I have seen more than one thread where you have upgraded it. Did you have two? If so, why are you selling just one for the iPhone?
Also, you can't really be serious about the iPhone. Have you even looked at the Tilt?? I was in your boat, with the Treo 750, wanting something more. I bought the Tilt and never looked back.
it is possible thati have more than one,,, i wasn't gonna screw around with my everyday user..lol this is the one i never messed with... besides, palm has no new phone planned for AT&T and im kinda tired of it.... once i get the iphone i won't have to goto numerous sites everyday hoping for some hot news about an update that isn't coming. lets face it, palms tech support sux and when you use the internet client to talk to them they use pre-typed statements that aare selected from topics. they click on it and it apears in the chat window... I shouldn't have to rely on some bogus software to make the phone do every other treo 750 now does. picking up my shiney new iphone thursday

It "is" possible, but "very" unlikely. Especially after I found this old post of yours.........
From this point on he led into reasons why i should be using it with out it being released and such which is to be expected. He also stated that doing to much to the phone can possibly make the phone upgradable when the real WM6 update is released. This he mentioned were changing the boot loader, IPL and SPL software in the phone, that and using bogus releases of software. The reason being he said was that the soon to be released update probes the phone deeply because everything has been updated including the boot loader stuff.
Now i cant confirm or deny any truth to these statements but the only thing i had done with mine was a try a few new firmwares but after my conversation with them i quickly reverted back to WM5.
here is a link to get it if anyone is interested in doing the same. Download either or, they are the same. included is the cheeimg.nbh and the cheediag.nbh. the cheediag.nbh wont complete is you have othere that cingular WM5 on ur cingular treo 750.

Call me crazy, but I looked at "all" of your posts on 2 different forums (just a quick search), and not 1 mention of "phones" or "one of my phones". Get the iPhone, I'm sure you will be happier. Then try reading more and posting less. And good luck selling that Treo.
Of course this is just my opinion, I could be wrong. I'm not sure, but I think it's happened to me once before...................
Woohoo!!! No more inane posts by jhowle. Could it really be true.
I tried to call him out without actually accusing him, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to tell he's lying. If anyone is actually considering buying his phone, think twice. It's been through a few reflashes for sure... If he can't be honest about that, what else could he be lying about?

When you filed the complaint with the "webmaster", did you also mention your foul-mouthed tirade?
So you say you're a 12-year Air Force member? Apparently you don't understand what your duties as an Air Force member are.
...oh, and by the way, you are talking to an Air Force officer. You have a commitment to excellence that doesn't change whether you're on or off-duty. You might want to consider the things you say online, as they could affect your career. I personally could care less. But you never know when some Colonel looking for a replacement for his Blackberry might be a member of a message board you frequent. You may think you're some anonymous entity online, but I GUARANTEE you it would not be very hard for someone with the "know-how" to figure out who you are and file a complaint.
Think you can't get in trouble for the things you say/do online? Read this:

...oh, and after reading your posts here and on other forums, I can say with pretty much 100% accuracy that if you had two phones, you would've mentioned it. You've pretty much detailed every non-phone aspect of your life through your posts. Being as though your chatting on a "phone" forum, I can't believe you wouldn't talk about having an extra phone to experiment with....
And in regards to internet arguing:

It sounds to me like you are taking things a bit too personally. When you came on an internet message board expecting people to be civil is where you went wrong. Personally, I wouldn't go somewhere I could get flamed for a comment without being able to tolerate getting flamed for a comment.
Couple that with the fact that you have NEVER mentioned having a second phone to play with and you have the perfect recipe for an INTERNET ARGUMENT.
As far as your inflammatory post where you reduced yourself to cursing, swearing, name calling, and other "unprofessional" acts, you took the conversation to a stage no one else here was at. So if you want to leave... leave. But no one here is asking you to go.

I have to agree. Now that I've gone PPC, I can never go back to the BB format. I don't know why everyone preaches about how good their "push" email is. It is just a fancy form of forwarding, and is many times more load intensive than Exchange Direct Push.
I run my own server, so I saw first-hand how the server being a BES trashed the server and the network. Not to mention, it's a whole 'nother program you have to install. EDP is already configured as part of Exchange. All you have to do is forward port 443 to the Exchange server, and BAM, it works. Not to mention, it's true synchronization.

My Treo can beat up your Treo.
So as many know, HTC holds the ball in our Official ICS Updates. They're the company that wants to get us the "Latest, and Greatest" Thing. But they seem to have forgotten about us. The Sensation, Sensation 4G, Sensation XE, Sensation XL will be getting ICS in March. Then the Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G, Evo 3D, Design 4G, INC S, Desire S, and DHD will be getting ICS sometime this year.

Why are we not on this list? We have Similar, to better Specs than these phones. The reason is??? My Sense, the Death of ANY HTC Phone. All these phones Run Sense 2.1, GingerSense, or Sense 3.0/5. It's complete bull crap, I know it's not an Issue for people like us. We have Great Dev's, 5 ICS Rom's. But with no Official ICS Rom, no Official ICS Source. It makes AOSP Rom's lack a Camera, which means no CM9.
I Emailed HTC, ranting about how all these devices have ICS Updates. But we don't, I feel betrayed. I've used HTC Handsets for the longest time, and not going to buy another after this. If I can't be promised and Official Update for a high end phone, just because it's OS. It's just stupid. Reminds me of school, when I'd get picked on for listening to a certain band. I choose the wrong music, now I have to deal with being left out till Middle Schools over.
So fellow Doubleshot users, whats you opinion? Going to stay with HTC? Or jump ship to the Galaxy S 3 like the rest of the world?
I personally feel it is too early to worry about not getting ICS. The sensation announcements are mostly for the Global phones and the others are Verizon specific. They will announce more soon they said. I feel better with HTC than Samsuck. I had a behold 2 and they pretty much Lied and screwed their customers from the get go. And even IF we don't get an official ICS ROM at least I KNOW I will be able to install a custom ROM from more than 1 dev and I'm not lock out by using the very unsafe odin bricking tool. Plus touchiwiz blows compared to sense. Not mention the fiasco with the GB updates for the original S series and they left the Original S series with no ICS even though the Nexus S is mostly the same phone! Yeah never owning a Samsung again. Not even a Samsung Nexus.

The behold was a sad, sad phone. Didn't only get 1.6?
But if we don't have an official ICS Rom, we can't get CM9. So we'd be CMless till the Summer if where lucky. I Love TB's Rom, but once we have official CM code we'll get a jump on Roms. MIUI, CM9 Type Roms, AOSP, and Quarto.
gs3 baby! MWC better not upset me.
Just my spare change.
I some what beg to differ. We do have working Kernels now even IF they aren't the new 3.0.x kernel. Also when NBetcher and I were working on SalsaSlide on the mT3GS he ported the Kernel from the Salsa RUU so we had a more up-to-date kernel than the one from the official Froyo release.
As for the Behold it was a good phone that was more powerful than any other Android Phone T-mobile had until the SGS (with the exception of the N1). Also Samsung themselves promised us Eclair and they lied and gave us Donut instead. Also the SGS Touchwiz blows if I wanted a phone that wanted to be an iPhone I'd get an iPhone.

I actually did the same thing twice, emailing HTC. Their short answer was no at this time the MT4G Slide is not our top priority so we won't do it. Kinda made me a little flustered, but at least HTC isn't the only manufacture...
The way I see it, we WILL have 99% source because as you stated before, we have similar, if not better specs than those phones listed. The sensation and our phone are nearly identical. Same with the amaze. Even in terms of hardware, we have the same processor and camera as the amaze. We have less RAM, but, only by a little. I'm not worried. Our devs have proven that they can run with the best. Until they start jumping ship, I'm optimistic about our future.
Also, don't forget, the migration from the g2 to the mytouch 4g slide has already started, and will only increase. As the only top tier phone with a keyboard (I'm not even going to give the sidekick any credit here), we should see a flood of excellent devs in the coming months. I hear the g2 devs are some of the best around.
Hopefully we'll get a Dev who can create a Camera Source from Scratch like they had to do on the DHD. That's really my main concern, even if we didn't get an official ICS Rom. But just the proper source to make it, it'd be nice. We should all email them and ask them to do so.
Is it true that T-Mo is giving Sensations as a optional replacement for this phone?

Dear Alex Bonilla,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at HTC, Alex. I will be happy to provide you with information regarding upgrades to the android operating systems for HTC devices.
All new HTC devices will receive updates to the android operating system from Google for up to 18 months after the official release date for the device, provided that the device hardware can support it. Some devices may fall under the 18 month time frame to receive an update but may not have the memory or CPU requirements to handle it. In this case the device will not receive an update
In rare cases HTC occasionally provides a developer version of an update for testing purposes. If this happens then the updated software is not sent over the air to the device or posted on our official web portal. Instead we make it available via our developer web portal at http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads . These types of updates are only recommended for experienced device owners and software developers. Installing such an update to your device is not supported or endorsed by HTC. If you choose to install a developer ROM to your device it would be at your own discretion.
Regarding specific dates and information, at this time we do not have an ETA to provide for you. To stay on top of release dates for upgrades and new devices, you can follow our official social network feeds on Twitter and Facebook, or our official website at http://www.htc.com/us/ or http://www.htc.com/us/press . Remember that in most cases you should receive direct notification to your device of any updates and maintenance releases once they are available for download and installation.
I hope that this information is helpful to you, Alex, and clarifies your questions regarding device upgrades. As always, we are here to answer any technical questions or concerns you may have between 6am to 1am EDST, 7 days a week for your convenience, or by phone at 1-866-449-8358.

btw: this sucks...this is why Htc shouldn't put out a trillion devices a day, instead of just releasing a couple flagships and keeping them updated

Pretty typical response. Doesn't mean jack. Their plan is usually the same, have a big announcement about updates so they can say "hey, we take care of our customers", then put off their less popular devices, hoping to sweep it under the rug. Big corporations are like children. They need to be pressured and forced into doing the right thing.
Still, the source code will be released for the sensation and amaze, so if its camera you're worried about, I'm 100% positive tbalden can break it down and port it. Just look at his tv out thread. Dude's a devving mastermind.

Why dat?
I'm calling today to see about getting swapped for a Sensation. I like the bigger screens.
Just my spare change.
Man ... everytime i get a peek into the past lives of people's handsets, I feel left out that I didn't get involved with Android until recently. I had a tablet for a bit, but this device that I got an August was my first cellular handset that was more then a bottom of the line flip phone (that I didn't even have charged half the time...provided I knew where it was)
I admit i'm a little jealous of all the cool stuff you guys have been through, rammed home by the fact that i've been spending time recently researching how root and s-off was obtained on older devices and learning the history that most of you lived with and just know.
This is where I make my stand, it's a solid device that can handle everything I put it through, and i'm happy with it. I have no intentions of going anywhere, and am taking the time to learn gingerbread through and through. Once I get that down cold i'll move up to ICS and beyond.
What's been said about future devs coming in is true - this device is being given out ass a replacement for the G2, so as those devices break down people will be coming in. We've already seen a couple of waves of it here, and having been here since before s-off was available there absolutely is a lot more dev happening now then anytime before. We have choices, options to play with given to us by the people who have been taking the time to put them together.
All of our devs are working together and helping each other out, and we have a solid little community here. I don't intend on going anywhere anytime soon, and doubt that anyone else working on the device is going to jump ship anytime soon.
I laughed @ Samsuck - never heard that before - but i've had the chance to play with some motorolla and samsung handsets recently that people I know own, and compared to this device and the other HTC products other friends of mine own (inspire 4g, incredible) the other brands seem somewhat lacking.
I expect that the next handset I purchase at some indeterminate time in the distant future will be an HTC as well. I can say that i'll start with HTC, and if I don't feel like my needs are being addressed then i'll look elsewhere.
I hear what you're saying, Agent - but i'm also a big fan of getting off my behind and doing it myself. They don't want to help? I'll figure it out if I want it done.
Before the new year hit there was that issue about the loggers and security. The Android Police article came out, I got the notification through Pulse News because it's the first thing I check when I wake up. Jumped right into the forums to make a patch - guess what? another dev had released it about 15 minutes before I got here. Done. HTC patch? 2 MONTHS later. We had ours in 2 hours.
If you want to wait for the manufacturer/carrier to grind an update through it's gargantuan system, and wait for them to do this and that and the other thing, run it through legal, get signed off on, etc... you'll be waiting forever. At least here we can work together to make it happen on a more immediate level.
We do the best we can with what we got, and if all we got is gingerbread kernel source...F 'em, we'll make it work. I'm attacking the current s-off issue - am I mad at HTC for locking us out? A little - they shouldn't, it's unethical - like buying a new car but having a governer on it that only lets it go 25m.p.h. - but we'll crack it no thanks to them and it'll be okay.
I have a can-do attitude, and the one flaw in security is by it's very nature no security can be made that cannot be broken. Fact of life true for everything from mechanical locks to software. All it takes is an investment of time, effort and energy to make it happen, and that's literally what we have here in the community.

I remember reading this "DONT GET A PHONE HOPING YOU WILL GET THE NEWEST UPDATES< GET A PHONE THAT YOUR HAPPY ON WHAT IT HAS" to me that is so true and in my opinon htc has some of the best phones, and if we dont get the update, so what, i am very happy with this phone the way it is

We need to start an "S3 Unlock " campaign on Verizon's and Samsung's facebook and email to make our dissatisfaction more visible. Will this have any impact, I don't know, but it's something easily done with almost no effort that the general consumer and non-development community will easily see.
This has worked in the past with the HTC EVO 3D. If the community can get HTC, a million dollar company to notice, maybe it will work with a billion dollar company.
Why should we send to Samsung when it's Verizon that locked the bootloader? The reason for it is more then likely Verizon will try to pawn it off on Samsung; by saying they locked it or they have to build the unlock tool. So, before this becomes a “blame game” We don't care who is responsible, we just want “Developmental Equality” for all S3's
So as Bob Marley said: “Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!” and take 3 minutes out of your day to help out the community.
What needs to be done:
Post "S3 Unlock or WE Walk" on Verizon's and Samsung's facebook. This would have a greater impact if it were posted everyday! “Don't let them forget about us!”
Email:
Under subject put: “S3 Unlock Bootloader” and in the body put “S3 Unlock ”

I understand what you want to do but alot of this is already being done by alot if angry customers. Verizon doesnt seem to care. All they did was blame Samsung.
Doesn't it make more sense that hitting them with a mass amount of posts and emails would do more than maybe 20 emails a day. It would get more attention if even just 1% of Verizon's customers were to flood them with posts and emails..this would be in the numbers up to 250,000 emails and facebook posts. They could still ignore it, but this would create more negative publicity. This is also why I am asking everyone to flood Samsung as well, eventually hopefully one of them will correct the issue. In time and numbers they will get tired of it and deal with us. Have you sent an email to Verizon or posted on their facebook?
Verizon might not admit that they are wrong, but any company is highly concerned about their public image. Facebook and Twitter can be a valuable tool to fight corporate arrogance.
One more thing to do... everyone should write a review on Verizon's web site slamming the locked bootloader, with a suggestion that this is a great phone on any provider but Verizon. I just clicked on the "Read reviews" link for the 32GB blue S3, and 4 out of the first ten reviews mentioned the locked bootloader.
We might never get them to unlock this particular bootloader, but at a minimum it would make them think twice about the future of locked bootloaders.
Verizon is betting on our apathy, so I applaud anyone who is willing to spend a bit of time keeping the heat on Verizon.
If you're serious about trying to piss them off, create an Anti Samsung Facebook page and / or Twitter Account basically blasting them for ****ty things they do, such as slow updates to products, locked bootloader, etc.
I once complained on Twitter about my GT 10.1 and didn't even direct it to them and I had their twitter person contact me and ask me if there was something they could do to help me.
They don't like knowing people are badmouthing them on social networks.
As for Verizon, they're used to people talking smack on them and don't seem the slightest bit phased.
If you're not part of the solution...you're part of the problem
I mean I guess anything's worth a try...but I don't think Verizon cares.

They seem to hate me. Emailed the CEO about the bootloader, got the standard letter in the mail about "network security" from some high chair rep. His problem is he said "feel free to call with questions" in the letter, as well as his number. I have called him 5 times in the past 2 weeks, always leaving a message. I have still yet to get a call back. I wont stop til I can voice my opinion and get some answers.
I've been tweeting and posting on their facebook pages that I am unhappy about the locked boot loader and spyware on the phone.
It of course won't do any good, but maybe if other non dev/hacker types see the posts they will inquire or think twice.

Why they even try to lock them I don't even get. It just seems like a waste of their time and resources. Just look at the s3, it was basically cracked before release and we already can do just about anything we want on it. It makes them look bad and does nothing and it makes even less sense when they have unlocked phones on their network. Bunch of dummies if you ask me

If my x2 bootloader wasn't locked down like it is, ii wouldn't have purchased a new phone. Hardware is staying viable for a longer time than they would like, but, by locking down the software used they can obsolete your device long before the hardware is obsolete. Those who are savvy enough to hack it and put what they want on it also upgrade quick to the newest hardware for the wow factor and vzw knows this. Locking the device down prevents people like me from upgrading software easily, thus forcing a hardware upgrade- to achieve my desire for a software upgrade.
It's quite simple really. Phone sales. If any Joe-Schmoe could upgrade their droidx2 to jellybean, they wouldn't see that phone sale. No phone sale = no new 2 year contract.
They don't market the hardware specs at all like they market the OS.
It must be worth it to them to lock it down and hope to see a device sold. Henry Ford said he'd give the cars away for free if he can be the only one to sell the parts. Vzw has aligned themselves closely with this mentality.

I have the Verizon Samsung Fascinate that is running Jelly Bean better than some phones out now and this phone only has 384 mb of RAM and has been out for 2 years. Through the efforts of some of the best Devs out there, this phone has lived well longer than it should have (seeing as Samsung/Verizon only supported it up to GB). I've gotten the best battery life at almost 2 days of moderate usage, it's snappy, and still is getting support from the community, because of this I've seen no reason to upgrade other than to have the latest and greatest. A locked boot loader in their mind would prevent this. Keeping hardware, that could last well longer than 2 years, from keeping up with the latest software updates. But with the hard work of the Devs and the community, even with locked bootloaders we can still keep up with the latest (ex. Kexec for VZW GS3). I hope for an unlocked bootloader, but with the great Devs out there I'm not to worried. Waiting for my locked S3 to come in the mail and plan on rooting and customizing it how I want with kexec even with a locked bootloader. I do wish those who have messaged Verizon and Samsung the best of luck. But I won't be holding my breath for them, I'll be holding it for the great Devs and the great community.

I'm really hoping you guys get your bootloader unlocked but speaking from experience I don't think it will work. As you can see in my sig I have owned a lot of Moto/VZW phones and people were spamming FB and twitter and starting petitions and it never did anything. But I wish you luck that you can get somewhere with sammy because god knows VZW doesn't give a sh!t about there customers.
Today the Moto upgrade page changed the status of the AT&T Atrix 2 and Atrix 4G to "Further plans coming soon," so they have reneged on their promise of 3rd quarter of this year. Thanks Moto for heaping a stinking load of cow dung on us. Why did they have people sign up for a soak test that never happened? Here is the upgrade page updated on 22-September-2012.

Unless they plan on going straight to Jelly Bean this is very upsetting.
I'm really hoping that this means we are going straight to JB, but knowing Moto, who knows. I guess we are lucky they haven't relegated us to staying on GB like they did with some of the other devices on that list.

They could've just released the second or first leak as the OTA and unlocked the BL and ppl would've been happy.
Hopefully we get JB... not counting on it though. Good thing i decided to install the leak and SCv7. Thanks to jim and rdavisct and all the devs here.
Motorola sucks! I'm very upset about this.

Other regions are getting ICS rolled out...
Its not moto its at&t, and its at&t about the bootloaders too, the Photon Q is a sprint phone, thats why you can unlock the bootloader.
I'm going to blame the carriers on this one. No other reason moto can roll out ICS to Atrix 2 that are in other regions other then the USA.
FYI: ICS is official in the SEA region as of 11 Sept. The website says Q4 2012, but let me assure you, that is not the case.
Motorola SEA
11 September
Good morning! We are pleased to let our Motorola XOOM2 and ATRIX2 users know that they will be receiving an over-the-air update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Users can also do a manual upgrade by going to Settings\About Tablet\Systems Updates. Please note that the upgrade does not allow for a previous version of Android to be re-installed, and we do recommend that users back up their data prior to this upgrade.
For more inquiries please contact our Product Inquiry Hotlines listed in our previous post. Thank you.
Yes, after some reflection the blame should be on AT&T. Atrix 2s all over the world including China, Cambodia, India and more got the ICS update already. So the likely reason is that AT&T blocked the update so people would upgrade to a new phone and extend their contracts. Since I am using an AT&T Atrix 2 (unlocked) in Thailand that is not an option for me. For regular AT&T customers with an Atrix 2, it looks like AT&T scubmagged you.
I am not a litigious person but if AT&T is blocking these updates, there are some grounds for us the consumer for a legal remedy. There are bugs and problems with the current OS and the update is supposed to fix these for us. The fact that AT&T is blocking us from getting them from the manufacturer is a violation and breach of our warranty and grounds for a lawsuit.
I am now a bit more thankful that I moved onto the AHD, however I mourn for all of my Atrix 2 friends here.
The good news is that the A2 community already has two different ICS leaks which have been worked on since early July, so it's not as if the phones can't run ICS at all. Needless to say, AT&T seems to be the culprit for this major hold-up.
Also, @ ajsedlacek, you likely wouldn't be able to sue AT&T for anything. They probably have a clause releasing them from any potential lawsuits once you sign a contract agreement with them.
Agree 100% with this. In the US the carriers hold all the power. None of them are exempt. Heck... look at the BS Verizon pulled with their "Nexus"
All international phones will get updates first for a variety of reasons, with a big reason being the carriers

I think most of us saw this coming. When I woke up this morning and saw the news, it definitely wasn't surprising to me.
My opinion on all of this, screw it. We've got awesome Devs here that are absolutely awesome at what they do, and personally, the LEAKS that we have of ICS are just fine for me.
Also, CM10 from Jim (and others) is right around the corner, and that excites me much more than getting official ICS. Granted it would be nice to have the official version, but there are better things in store for our Atrix 2.

What folks here really need to do, is swallow their 'entitlements' and stop acting like they're "owed" something. It's getting ridiculous, and rather embarrassing to read. You all bought an Atrix 2, that doesn't mean you also purchased the moon and the stars and everything else you've ever wished upon. We get what we get, so don't throw a fit. Whatever comes our way, will be made more amazing by our talented development team. Stop crying about timetables, what you anticipated, and what you feel you deserve. It's a phone for Christ's sake, and to be such malcontents about when we "get this or that" is leaving a rather bitter, self-warranted, rotten taste in the mouth of this forum. Does Motorola suck? Yeah, undeniably so. Does AT&T hold back inexplicably? Certainly. But, you bought the tickets, now take the ride. Stop complaining, or buy another phone. If you're staying with the A2, you can take solace in the fact we have an inarguable competence and talent here, otherwise, take your b¡tching elsewhere. It's growing ever so redundant, and removes from the integrity of everything we've done here, if the threads are flooded with crap like this...
Two bits offered, take 'em or leave 'em...

Yeah.., I'm not understanding why everyone is crazy about "OFFICIAL" ICS. We already have a leak or rather 2 that have barely if any bugs and a couple of GREAT rom's based on ICS. Furthermore we have a fully working build of CM10 based of off Jellybean (not counting the camera... yet). Personally I couldn't care less about when an "official" version is released because it won't change anything, and I advise you all to do the same.
Just my 2 cents. Not in response to anybody but just my opinion.
The whole argument about updates being not "promised" and being "gratis" is bogus. So is the argument about manufacturers hands being tied by Google.
Short of a legally enforceable contract, Google as well as the manufacturers do everything in their power to lead people into believing that their phones will be updated to the next version of the OS. Google had announced the Alliance with the declared aim of providing OS updates for 18 months from device release date. Last time I checked, Moto was a part of the alliance. Moto has had the Atrix 2 on its update page since February 2012, if I'm not wrong. At the very least, this is a Gentleman's agreement on the part of Google/manufacturer that our phone will be updated. Now if any manufacturer wants to say that it had made no legally binding committment to update, where is the honour in that? Why should I trust such a corporation with my hard earned money in the future? As far as I'm concerned, there WAS a pomise, either express or implied, to update my phone and the manufacturer has dishonourably reneged.
This appeared on the Moto forum:
"Thank you for being a Motorola Mobility customer. We know you value having the latest and greatest technology on your device. We are working very closely with Google and our carrier partners to bring you the best possible experience on each of our devices powered by Android. This means ensuring that all upgrades and updates enhance device functionality and provide an overall improved experience.
As previously communicated, DROID RAZR, DROID RAZR MAXX, DROID 4, DROID BIONIC, DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and 10.1, and MOTOROLA XOOM WiFI + 3G/4G will be upgraded to ICS. Additional details on timing for these products will be shared at a later date.
To help our customers understand the steps we go through to develop an upgrade, we are describing the high-level process for delivering upgrades below. During this process, we work to ensure that an upgrade is possible, and that it provides a satisfying experience. For each smartphone or tablet currently in the market, you will see updated information on what stage the upgrade plan is in.
* Please note this timing is Motorola Mobility's best estimate and contingent on successful completion of testing.

Clearly that sounds like a promise of OS upgrades to come. So untill my next phone states on the box "This unit will not receive any further OS updates from us" I'll expect the updates to come in a somewhat timely manner.
Updates being free is anouther argument I have never understood, even when accompanied by the inappropriate analogy of PC and Windows OS. Unlike in PCs, mobile device owners are completely dependent on the manufacturer to provide OS updates. The cost of developing updates has obviously already been paid in advance by the device owners - would the manufacturers sell even half the number of devices if they told their customers upfront that they would not provide any updates? These are functionality and security updates to an OS that is still in its infancy on products that cost hundreds of dollars one way or the other.
About manufacturers being hamstrung by Google/carriers, Google has already released the OS source code for manufacturers to do as they please. The carrier argument may be true though - I guess if you buy a subsidized phone, you got to be prepared to pamper to the whims of the carrier.
About the phones getting updates through leaks, I would guess even the people who do not visit xda, who don't know nothing about installing leaks ... deserve to have ICS on their phones?

Ummm...Yes, I (we) are owed something. Its called updates and bug fixes.
So far one upgrade with no real fixes...
If you're OK with that, so be it. But don't try to sit here and tell people what they should or should not be doing.
Yes the deb's here have done a great job. Saying that, its not their jobs! It is that of Motorola's and at&TS.

You've so much to learn, young grasshopper...
The "upgrade" wasn't an 'upgrade', it was a leak, I'm sure you recall this, yeah? If it was an official OTA, and needed "bug fixes", likely we would have already gotten them. What we did, was hack the Moto servers, to 'fish' for updates. We found one (two, to be specific) and nothing subsequent to that is owed to us by Moto or AT&T, because what we found wasn't even intended for use by us -the end consumer. We'll get the release when we get it. My point was for everyone to stop this incessant b¡tching and whining. It's borderline manic...

I don't think anyone feels entitled to anything, but it is reasonable to expect some updates and maintenance. Granted we got 2.3.6, but is that really an update when most everyone else at the time was running 2.3.7?
I don't think anyone here questions the contributions made by the devs, nor isn't grateful. I think we're all just frustrated that we're behind the times and know that we have a lot of potential going to waste.
I came from M3 and had a Motorola Cliq XT, so I been through all of this before with Moto and their updates. Fortunately we had Turl (which some of you devs might know), and when I left there about a year ago we had CM7 2.3.7 running great on a phone that had barely a 1/3 of the hardware we have on our A2.
I'm confident we'll move forward, we have some great devs here. We're all entitled to our opinions and expectations, and we all want more because we know we're more than capable of taking advantage of it. I think we just need to organize and focus on what we have going on here at XDA. Personally, I'm excited for CM10 and can't wait to get something more proper running on this piece lol.

Not sure how I feel about this. Mixed feelings here. Their explanations are not very clear.
Let me say first I am a Samsung fanboy. But we all who adopted the gear 2 should come together to sue Samsung for a faulty product. After scanning over many pages of issues we are having with the gear 2 around application installs which seem to be based on some roulette wheel of success of an app will install or not, battery issues, having to do numerous factory resets, and with an even bigger slap to the face, bringing out another watch yet again in about 3 months. We have been sold on crap that we can't even take back. Clearly there is a product or software issue where many people have the same phones, many with stock Roms even on same carriers having mismatched results on app installs. Also while using Samsung phones. I believe this is a shot in the gut to the overall care that Samsung has for its customers. Which doesn't look good as we get in this viscous cycle of new this of what we sold you just a few months ago even though what we originally sold you we still haven't been fixed. Spending 200 plus for a digital watch with some really nice features doesn't justify inconsistency of product or a faulty os. We need to send a message to Samsung that this is not acceptable. And the biggest thing that has even impacted me, I have bought several apps that will not successfully install and I am no able to get a refund for. And this has happened to many people. We surely would be all over apple or any other maker if these things where going on. Yes Samsung makes great products that we love to have, but this watch and trend is totally unacceptable!
I would add to this claims for false advertisement about available apps. Example: Runtastic, mentioned in all the press releases as launch partner, still doesn't have a Gear 2 compatible app.
Also, cleverly planted hints for non-Samsung device support, which pushed many people with unsupported devices to buy the watch. Does anyone really think now this will ever happen?
I have no faults worth suing over plus you cold always just return the product no one forced you to keep the device I kean it isnt even a year old .why people love to sue if a big company like apple is in court for years how far you think wed get wake up and stop complaining.

While the Gear 2 line has been pretty popular, for what it is, it functions. It's the extra stuff that's the problem. Hardware is sound and the built-in software works (ymmv). Everything else is just gravy. I think the only way it would have traction if the hardware or built-in software had significant problems. The only thing I've installed is watchfaces, so to me, it's fine how it is. However, I do know that people are getting pretty fed up with not having access to the things everyone else does. I guess I'm just on the fence on it.

Yeah so I read again just to please you and I stand by my comment .if you have the time and money to try to sue a giant like samsung go ahead. Plus if its faulty just factory reset and sell on ebay simple. And like I said we are early users is a new device what do you expect. But at the end of the day all users are different some issues some not. Thats life and I really can care less. I have better advice for you go get leagal advice about if you even have a case .

I'm perfectly happy with my watch, and thanks to these forums I knew exactly what I was getting before I bought it .
If I didn't like it, I would take it back.
I know these watches don't do half of what they will do in a year or two, but in the meantime at least I have a toy to play with. And thanks to XDA, it's a fun pastime for a nerd like me. And for $150 for the Neo, I really can't complain.

I just came from the Galaxy gear, although i would like to file a suite for getting 2 defective galaxy gears with bad cameras and making me pay the diffrence for the new watch.
Coming from the original gear the only thing I don't like about the gear 2 is the weak vibration. The sound is louder when on a call, charging is much easier, you can change the bands although I can't find any locally or even in the US for that matter. I think Samsung should have given previous gear owners something 20 app store credit something to that effect.
I hear ya, I had the gear2 and switched to the Neo and like not having the camera liability.
It is a nice toy and does what I need for now, but I can't wait til the watch has its own sim. Would be nice not having to carry a phone around everywhere. I frequently answer calls and spritz thru my email while my phone sits in my briefcase.

Simple way to improve battery life. 1. Turn off wake up motion. Theres no need to have your wach wake everytime you raise your hand. 2. Put the screen off time to 5 sec. 3. Lower brightness to 2.. thats should give you about 3 days . But honestly you could charge yor watch every night its not a big deal I mean who sleeps with a watch anyway. With these setting I dont im not a power user lol. But you know what these watch is alot more useful than a $8900 plus rolex that only tells time.

Without even commenting on your issues, here's what you can expect. The LG G2x had major problems related to its battery circuitry which were proven by a third-party engineer. It affected almost all the phones T-Mobile sold. I had one, I know. Legal action was threatened starting in early 2011 and a class action suit was filed mid year. The case settled in December 2013. Everyone got $19 but I'm sure the lawyers got amply compensated.
So carry on Norma Rae. Keep in mind Samsung's lawyers are probably tougher and more plentiful than LG's. And in the G2x's case there were real demonstrated issues.
wow.... LG settled out for a whopping $19 per each affected user and the "issues" still didn't get fixed.
you gotta love how some people's first reaction is to SUE when something doesn't quite work the way they think.... everyone has an itch i guess
good luck with this half baked idea.... im sure there's a bunch of clauses within the EULA that protect companies from these types of people.
you know that little part of new software that states "check here if you agree to the terms and conditions within" and you do without actually spending 6 days reading it? well there you go.
Some of you and your posts are kind of sad of your general overall lack of concern for what is an legitimate problem. A prime example of how the larger group crushes the smaller and supported by few in the pockets. I would not be surprised if you have a vested interest in Samsung or the watch itself. I personally don't wish to spend my time addressing the flawed thinking you show with your comments and how it directly relates to how we have simple violation of consumer producer relationship. If you have had a good experience, I am glad for you. Go start your own thread ayn share. We all got our own opinions, but save them for an appropriate thread that reflects it. I would rather keep this thread clean and not garbled up with useless statements of why you disagree with clearly a legitimate concern of a faulty product that has affected many people.
Might I also mention what I forgot to mention in my previous post, ever since I downloaded some application, don't know which one. Because I have reset both my phone and watch several times and flashed all 3 firmwares for the gear 2. But when my watch is on and connected to my phone anytime I get a call my phone automatically answers. Only when the gear is connected. I thoroughly checked and troubled shooted ever gesture based and auto answer feature on the gear 2 and my phone and even turned them all off. This is a very serious liability concern for me being I work in a multi billion dollar business in which very sensitive information could be leaked and place myself as well as my company in a serious litigation suit. Needless to say I cannot use the watch in my work environment anymore at least connected to my phone, which for now makes in my work environment my watch a over glorified digital watch which cannot function as it was sold and bought to do. Being myself a day one adopter and purchaser of the gear, returning it is not an option nor am I willing to reset it and sell it on eBay to be an issue for someone else as previously suggested. The overall lack of consideration of this matter and suggesting I should dump it on someone else is a prime example of how things like this continue to happen. I feel sorry for any of you who may happen to get taken advantage of and not find any assistance. But I assume you'll just dump it off on someone else instead of making the 'causer' accountable. Smh.
Snickers, what phone are u using and is it stock os? Most of the folks who are NOT using custom roms are working exactly as designed. Mine has worked flawless on my Note 3 rooted stock. No real mods to the phone. If you are not stock and you are not on compatible phone, no lawyer would even consider your case. Using outside of design parameters is instant dismissal from any court in a case like this. Now for the other person wanting to hit Samsung because of aftermarket software companies NOT delivering, you have to take action against them, unless any of those companies are wholly-owned by Samsung themselves. Either case, you would be hard pressed to find a litigation team willing to attempt this.
