I am also very interested in this... I have a thread of my own about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25926585#post25926585. I dont have a working solution currently, the Wifi Tether app does not work properly with my laptop.

Use this app WiFi Tether for Root Users
In the settings change the following -
Profile - > Generic ICS
Setup Method - Netd (master)
and enjoy tethering =)

[Q] htc inspire hot spot with root

so ive sucessfully rooted my phone found a rom that enables tethering
but what ive been noticing is my hotspot only says 3 g above it but my mobile network says h+
ive seen both say H+ when i was on a downgraded rom but it had no sound
im wondering why my rom says 3g there when network says h+ ive tried 3 diff roms now still havnt found one that fixes this or am i just stuck with 3g hotspot ?
i could be way offf here if someone could explain id appreciate it
H+ is really 3G so don't let that confuse you.
so its just the way the rom maker exploited the hotspot pretty much
im still getting same speed on my hotspot as my phone then

Yes exactly.
Try using the Speed Test app from the Market.
I just want to make sure, being that we are rooted (I`m using the LeeDroid ROM btw) if we use the stock Wifi Hotspot we should be fine right? Theres no need to download the google Wifi Tether for Root app correct?

Tether issues

Ok so I rooted my infuse. Froze the tether manager and using the google wifi app. My galaxy tab cannot find the wifi nor connect.
Thanks
I'm going to assume you meant Inspire not Infuse. I believe you'll need to create a separate APN for this, or you could just flash a custom rom that has it enabled by default.

For Inspire, you'll need a version of the google tether app 3.1 beta 5 or later and you'll need to enable the "Routing Fix" in the settings.

Has there been a fix to wifi block on HTC devices

I just learned(the hard way lol
) a couple of weeks ago that HTC put a block on its devices so they wouldn't be able to use WiFi tether. I had downloaded the current wifi tether from the play store it didn't work even tried foxfi nada, so I flashed back to my current ROM patiently waiting for a fix
Evo Shift 4g MikShifted G v2.1
What do you mean a Block? What Rom where you running at the time? I don't think HTC would be able to do that if your Rooted running a custom Rom.
EDIT: BTW I'm posting this using WiFi Tether .

[Q] Native tethering on VRBLJ1

I have updated to stock VRBLJ1, rooted and unlocked. I am grandfathered into unlimited data.
I was wondering if there is a way to enable stock native tethering on Jelly Bean? Do I need to flash a custom ROM? If so, which one?
I have tried the guide in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801886 (for VRBLG1) only to get stuck in a boot loop when I replace framework-res.apk.
I have also tried to manually replace framework-res.apk as described by http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800796 also without success.
Why you must use native wifi hotspot? If dont must, you can try wifi tethet application, it works on mine.., dont forget to tickmark mss clamping and routing fix in setting

The wifi tether app doesn't seem to work in jelly bean for me, but it worked in ics. I have clicked mss clamping and routing fix also.

Just get a toggle widget. You don't need any modifications to make it work. Use fattin hotspot toggle from the market

Thanks! Before you posted this I tried Foxfi which also did the trick

Desperately need WiFi tethering, Towelrooted.

Sup guys,
Just rooted my GS3 via Towelroot. I've been searching the forums for any info at all and came up short. Does anyone know of a good tethering app and more importantly the correct settings so I can start tethering. Thanks in advance.

Yes wifi tether router app, it's working with 4.3 and 4.4 kitkat.
Xposed x tether module will make the stock WiFi tether app work and not check for permission of having the paid plan. I'm using it with no problems

So if I install the Xposed Installer and the X Tether Module on my rooted 4.4.2 VZW SGS3, the stock tether app will work even if I haven't subscribed to VZW's Mobile Hotspot?
Correct! I just did had my tablet tethered that way for 2 hours going to the beach and back last weekend worked great!

I just did this yesterday. It took 5 app installations and about ten minutes of time.
Install and run towelroot
Install and run SuperSU
Restart Phone
Install and run Root Checker Basic
Install Xposed Installer (Xposed Framework)
Install Xposed X tether then run Xposed Installer
Xposed X tether and Framework trick Verizon Software into thinking you are subscribed.
Restart and enjoy. :good:
This apk works for me very well, and I don't even pay for WiFi hotspot.
