Tether issues - HTC Inspire 4G

Ok so I rooted my infuse. Froze the tether manager and using the google wifi app. My galaxy tab cannot find the wifi nor connect.
Thanks

I'm going to assume you meant Inspire not Infuse. I believe you'll need to create a separate APN for this, or you could just flash a custom rom that has it enabled by default.

For Inspire, you'll need a version of the google tether app 3.1 beta 5 or later and you'll need to enable the "Routing Fix" in the settings.

[Q] htc inspire hot spot with root

so ive sucessfully rooted my phone found a rom that enables tethering
but what ive been noticing is my hotspot only says 3 g above it but my mobile network says h+
ive seen both say H+ when i was on a downgraded rom but it had no sound
im wondering why my rom says 3g there when network says h+ ive tried 3 diff roms now still havnt found one that fixes this or am i just stuck with 3g hotspot ?
i could be way offf here if someone could explain id appreciate it
H+ is really 3G so don't let that confuse you.
so its just the way the rom maker exploited the hotspot pretty much
im still getting same speed on my hotspot as my phone then

Yes exactly.
Try using the Speed Test app from the Market.
I just want to make sure, being that we are rooted (I`m using the LeeDroid ROM btw) if we use the stock Wifi Hotspot we should be fine right? Theres no need to download the google Wifi Tether for Root app correct?

Would also like to know this...
If your rooted, i believe tiamats kernel has tethering enabled via bluetooth as well as usb tethering. By all reports seems to work well. Though I have not personaly tried it. You may want to check his thread. As far as unrooted afaik dont think its possible, but dont quote me on that.

What I do with my Captivate is use it as a portable hotspot. It comes as a option when am running either CM7 or MIUI roms. Not sure if this is a rom based option or a android 2.2.4 option.
Since x10 bootloader not cracked yet, the kernel doesn't support tethering.
I guess I have to root my xoom

first you should install rom that support custom kernel v3.5 like Wolfbreak rom for more information follow the link:

then follow the below steps:
1-download the attached file to your SD card.
2-Install it by xrecovery >>> reboot.
3-download Wireless Tether from the Market (free).
4-Wireless Tether >>> settings >>> tick on use Bluetooth >>>> enable Access-Control>>> Back >>>> Press the green wireless logo.
5- press THANKS Button .
6- Enjoy.

Yeah I know where to get pdanet but where is the apk. The app market blocks it says it's not available on my carrier. And the wifi tether doesn't work with 4g. Did you just post links

Ugh. Install it to your computer and the .exe will install pda net to your device.
Thanks! It wasn't obvious from pdanet's site. But yes, downloading the pdanet 3.02 from their site and installing the .exe will also install the apk to the phone (I happaned to have mine connected during the setup).

I am also very interested in this... I have a thread of my own about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25926585#post25926585. I dont have a working solution currently, the Wifi Tether app does not work properly with my laptop.
Use this app WiFi Tether for Root Users
In the settings change the following -
Profile - > Generic ICS
Setup Method - Netd (master)
and enjoy tethering =)

Wifi tether for FP1

I noticed the thread under android development for EE4 does this work for FP1? When I run the two tether apps barnacle or tether for root it does not work the phone is on eclipse 2.0...but I'm running the stock kernal
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
This works fine. Select Samsung Fascinate for device-profile and Softap for Samsung for Setup-Method.
If I still get kernal does not support message any alternatives I tried flashing another kernal 532 it did not work. The phones on eclipse
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Wifi tether support has nothing to do with the kernel. It's all about having root. Are you able to get root in other apps?
Yes but for some reason a message comes up saying that the stock kernal does not support it I have full root..have you ever seen or heard about a notification like that?

Try FoxFi.
