so ive sucessfully rooted my phone found a rom that enables tethering
but what ive been noticing is my hotspot only says 3 g above it but my mobile network says h+
ive seen both say H+ when i was on a downgraded rom but it had no sound
im wondering why my rom says 3g there when network says h+ ive tried 3 diff roms now still havnt found one that fixes this or am i just stuck with 3g hotspot ?
i could be way offf here if someone could explain id appreciate it
H+ is really 3G so don't let that confuse you.
so its just the way the rom maker exploited the hotspot pretty much
im still getting same speed on my hotspot as my phone then

Yes exactly.
Try using the Speed Test app from the Market.
I just want to make sure, being that we are rooted (I`m using the LeeDroid ROM btw) if we use the stock Wifi Hotspot we should be fine right? Theres no need to download the google Wifi Tether for Root app correct?

GTalk video is allowed over 3G for sure. As soon as there was an update for my NS, I have always used it with 3G without any issues.
Which version of NS do you have? The one from TMO? If so, I guess TMO does block any app which would do such over 3G... not too certain but atleast I am using my Rogers NS without any troubles.
Edit : Never mind about which version, as I noticed your sprint logo after I replied.

It's not available in the market AFAIK, it came with the OTA. Are you stock or running a custom rom?

If you have any rom wih 2.3.4, you should have the gtalk video support. Check the rom and see if developer has got the support for it or not.
IMO you should go back to stock and try it out. If you are rooted, this should not take a long for you to test/check if gtalk works on stock.
it is the one here:

it is the stock rooted rom

What tool did you use to root?
Check your apn settings.
Edit: inspire is a at&t phone. Tmobile uses different bands. You will only get 2g on tmobile using the inspire. Its a hardware thing.

You probably have the att apn settings and it may be the reason its not working. Your gonna have to Google tmobiles data and mms apn settings and adjust them on your phone.

Just go to rom Dev forum and see what their instructions are to flash. We don't use rom manager anymore we all use 4ext recovery which is usually installed when we flash custom rom. You can place rom zip on root of ad card (not in any folder). Power up into hboot with power button and volume down at same time then enter recovery that way full wipe and flash. Or see if you have the option of booting into recovery when you press power button to shut down. Rom has to be specifically for our phone do not just flash any rom if it ain't from here at Inspire 4G or DesireHD you will greatly regret flashing it.
Edit: we can also use DesireHD roms as well, there are some really good ones there as well. But remember DesireHD only.

I just learned(the hard way lol
) a couple of weeks ago that HTC put a block on its devices so they wouldn't be able to use WiFi tether. I had downloaded the current wifi tether from the play store it didn't work even tried foxfi nada, so I flashed back to my current ROM patiently waiting for a fix
Evo Shift 4g MikShifted G v2.1
What do you mean a Block? What Rom where you running at the time? I don't think HTC would be able to do that if your Rooted running a custom Rom.
EDIT: BTW I'm posting this using WiFi Tether .

Hi,
not sure if this has been discussed here or not,
so i have a simple and easy question. I currently use a rooted Verizon 32gb Xoom, with a 4.1.2 CM10 rom installed by Rom Manager.
I do not ever plan to use the Verizon hardware and software in the future, is there a way to completely remove the Verizon software,
so that I can kinda convert this Xoom into a wifi only model ?
Is there a problem doing this that you can think of ?
can I just flash a different modem with cwmr ?
I really despise Verizon and do not want to see the 3g signal meter in the notification panel.
i know it sounds a lil whiney, but i do want to know, what it would take to disable any verizon functionality.
thanks in advance,
Use LAIOT Linux to install Stock MZ604 ROM, then root again and blah blah blah. Else you can try installing AOSP ROM.
Both links on my signature (better saying, 7Heavens have all it and more )
"This Story Ends Where It Began"
I keep mine in airplane mode and just turn on wifi. I never see the 3G icon. I've been doing this for over six months now. I originally did this because I was afraid verizon would try to disable my Xoom. I figured if it never connected to their network that I'd be safe.

This'll work, just flash a wingray rom
Sent from my Blade using Tapatalk 2
I am on a 4G rooted xoom as well that I never use the verizon data. If I were just to install a wingray ROM instead of stingray and keeping in airplane mode, would I be able to expect a increase in battery life?
Possible battery Life increase is the only benefit I see in switching from stingray to wingray.
Well yea you will but then if you want to use wifi it'll defeat the purpose of airplane mode

I just bought a new ($200) 3g version to replace my recently damaged WiFi version. Can I flash a fully stock wingray firmware to it? Or better/safer to just flash a custom wingray ROM?
Thanks.

Root your phone and try to download a wifi tethering. I think you have to subscribe to at&t in order to hotspot
Is this problem just appear in at&t version?

Update came out on March 26, 2014 and it should work when you rooted it. Research it around google for wifi tethering or type htc one wifi tethering and see if they have any tutorials.

The easiest way to know is download antutu benchmark on google play and open it then click on device info. There should be something that says root acess. If yes, then you are. If not, then you're not.
I'm able to do any tethering on cm11. The rom made it work. If you don't like cm, you can just download a tethering app.

If you don't know if you're rooted or not, then you are NOT! Rooting requires numerous advanced steps to be taken and you must research those steps extensively before trying it; otherwise, you can kill (brick) your phone.
AT&T phones have blocked access to wi-fi hotspot unless you sign up for an expensive plan with them - even if you switch the phone over to another carrier, the access is still blocked by the phone's software. The only way around it is to root the device (see statement above) and install a different operating system (ROM). This forum and google have all the info you need to learn how. But it will take many hours or days for you to find it all and understand the proper method. Good luck!
