Black Blobs Camera - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi I recently started to notice that there was black blobs on my screen when I turn on the camera. This only happens on the when I flip and turn on the 8mb back camera. When I take pictures it also there. Once I exit the camera app the blob is gone. Did anyone ever encounter this problem? I called in Samsung and they wanted me to send in my phone for a repair. So I'll keep updating the issue. Thank you for your time.

Hey,
Have a look at this thread, might explain some things...

Hope that helps.

Is your finger covering the camera lens!?!? LOL j/k
Had to say it. The SGH-i727 has been know to have screen issues with lines and blobs but they are usually pretty small. If you are not seeing the "black blobs" any other time on screen, then there must be an issue with the camera. Your best bet is to either send it in to Samsung for a repair, or try and take it back to the store where you got it from.
Best of luck.
By the way, are you running a stock or custom ROM?

Thanks

Hey Thank you. Yeah I sent it in today for repair. I should be getting back in 6 or more days. I was running on a stock rom 2.3.5 at first but I noticed the blobs when I was using the leaked ICS. So I went back to 2.3.5 and they were still there. It was probably the camera. I noticed the vertical lines a long time ago but they didn't bother me at all. Not all phones are perfect. haha Thank you very much though!

quicksearch softbutton

I bought my captivate on release day and have been fairly happy with it so far. I am currently running phoenix 4.5 and have been for a quite a while.
So with that said. I've noticed an odd problem when playing with my phone, it seems the search soft button is being pressed by nothing somewhat randomly(when I'm not even touching the phone). It's rather annoying and I am wondering if I may need to return the phone. anyone have opinions on this?
I had the same issue, ended up calling ATT and returning it. They'll have you do a factory reset and call back in a few days to see if that fixes it....which it won't. Basically, it's up to you if you can live with it or not. Was annoying me enough to get replaced.
uhg, how do I go about getting it replaced? can i take it into the store after i put it back to stock?

flash to stock if you rooted or romed it. hell flash to stock just for privacy!
call them, get them to OK the replacement. then flash stock and return
alright, thanks.
I didn't have a store nearby so I had to call and have them send me one. When I got the replacement, I flashed back to stock and did a master clear before sending it back.
Has anyone figured out the problem behind the search button ghosting? I've recently noticed this more often with official 2.2 opposed to 2.1 stock. Though it still happened on both.

I would assume a hardware problem telling the phone that the button is being pressed,
Did anyone who had this problem have the search button dim when it was "ghost pressed"
Do you have any kind of case on the phone. I found that one of my crystal skin gel cases wrapped around the bottom a little far and caused some random soft key presses. Just my experience.
I have this problem randomly, but don't really want a refurb unit. It seems to happen in spurts, like 10 times in a few hours and then won't do it again for a week. Random. I learned my lesson though and won't buy another Samsung phone again. GPS has never worked for me and that's a real sore spot.

[Q] Touchscreen issue & need help asap

So I recently purchased the NS. I have one problem though: the very right side of the screen (0.5 cm from the end of the screen) the touchscreen is very unresponsive. Sometimes it responds sometimes it doesn't. On my previous phone (LG Optimus 2x) when running CM7 there was the same glitch. The very left side on my NS it's very responsive. I'm running stock 2.3.6 . What is my problem?
Thanks
U just got the phone and having all Stock with that issue, if I was u, I would use the warranty to solve that imediatly (or u can try to upgrade to newer ROM to see if that's a software prob.)
cheers
wipe the screen down with some alcohol to be sure

Don't do this, you'll risk prematurely eating your oleophobic coat. I'd find some touchscreen testing app first, and if the problem persists go to samsung.
Ok, I updated to 2.3.6 and the touchscreen is a bit better. Maybe that's just my impression. Are you sure none of you have this problem? hmm. So should I send it to Samsung for repair?
I haven't had this problem at all, my phones touchscreen is flawless everywhere. I would first talk to samsung and hope you don't get someone incompetent, then send it in if need be.

OH man. I don't want to be phoneless for a month though However I do have a year warranty and I only purchased the phone 3 days ago so I can wait and see if it get's worse before returning it for repair. It really doesn't bother me for now since I never touch the last 3 mm of the screen anyways.

Touchscreen doesn't work for first few seconds

This was one of the similar threads found, but it didn't give me a solution. I messed around with the different CPU governor's but none of them solve my problem. When I unlock the phone, it doesn't respond well to my touch for a few seconds. I'm using CM10 and I've never had this problem before. It only came up recently when I replaced my lcd and digitizer because I was having touchscreen problems. Now the problems are mostly gone except at the lock screen. I've tried 3 different roms (one was a Sense 3.6 rom) and they all had this problem. Outside of the lock screen, it mostly worked well except inside the "phone app" in the sense rom. I called someone and they didn't hear it ringing, so it went to voicemail. I didn't want to record a message so I pressed end call like 30 times but it didn't work until i took out the battery. It happens in CM10 too, but its not as bad, usually ends the call after the 3rd or 4th time.
To troubleshoot the problem, I turned on "Show touches-show visual feedback for touches" under Developer options. I also made this video so you guys can see what it looks like.

Take a look at this thread, maybe it helps. I would say update your firmware to 3.33, and try cleaning and pulling out the gray pin on the back of the phone. Hope it helps
Did you replace the digitizer yourself? If yes, I'd go back and make sure nothing is wrong. Make sure everything is properly put back together. Hope this helps. best wishes.

I did replace it myself and I think that's probably the problem but my dad is refusing to help me take it apart again. We're going to go to a cell phone repair store to see if they can give us some advice, then he'll probably agree to open it up again and see what's going on.

It looks like you've opened 2 treads for the same problem, so here's what I answered you earlier - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34955821&postcount=3
Ah yes, I made some new discoveries since then and I forgot to check on that thread so I ended up making a new one. The digitizer/lcd I bought is supposedly new, and it's the one that says HTC in the middle (no T-Mobile logo on the side) I'm updating Cyanogen Mod to the newest version and flashing new firmware, so if that doesn't fix it then that'll rule out software issues. After that, I'll re-install the lcd/digitizer and see if I can get it to work.
Also, you said "when you change displays it's never the same as the original" I've been looking through hundreds of forums and many people have successfully replaced their screen only for the problem to come back again a few weeks later. I'm thinking it has something to do with static buildup caused by third-party batteries or chargers, as seen in this thread that i forgot to mention. I've changed my charger so all that remains is taking apart the screen again.
Thanks to dennis8, my screen is now fixed. He linked me to this thread and it worked right away after that. Finally my freaking phone works :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

[Q] Camera isn't responding

I have a MB865 on AT&T on stock ICS 4.0.4. A couple months ago, I had cracked my screen and repaired it myself with great success with that helpful guide in the forums. However, when I finished, both of my cameras (Front and Back) no longer worked. EIther it said failed to initialize or Camera isn't responding. Is there any way to fix this? Is there any way to troubleshoot what is working and what is not? Thanks for looking at this post.

Check the CQATest. But, it's 90% possible, that you made a mistake when you closed your phone.

Have you tried performing a factory reset, or clearing the camera data from settings? Have you tried installing a third party camera application to see if the same errors are persistent? If none of these work, you may have caused some damage to the camera itself, or some other hardware related damages.

So after the CQAtest, I found out that my front facing camera does work however my back camera doesn't work, including the flash. Is there a way to just fix the camera, like order a new camera part on ebay, or any other suggestions?

2nd Screen not showing with main off but shortcuts still active

Just got the phone ,stock att, I already did factory reset it doesn't show 2nd screen when main off but the shortcuts still work(flashlight camera etc..). Could it be that it is super dim, anyway to change that ? It works normal with main screen on. I am on latest att update. I looked everywhere and didn't see anyone with similar issue that didn't get fixed by factory reset. Phone is unlocked also. Any ideas ?
Could you give a little more information about your problem?
The phone has a sensor that detects when you have a flip cover on and shuts off the second screen until you open it, so it could be there's something in front of it.
Another thing you can try is disabling Quick Cover in the settings if you don't have the official LG cover.

I tested that sensor with aida64 it seems to be working fine when I put my hand in front of it, also it doesn't show anything in front of it otherwise. I disabled the quick cover option and enabled it doesn't work either way. One thing I noticed that if I use quick cover case and open and close really fast I can see the 2nd screen being on for split second and then it goes black even though the shortcuts are still there.

Ok. One last thing you should try is to go into settings, Second Screen, and toggle the two options in there. One should be for when the main screen is on, another for when it is off. Switch both of them off, then on, and restart the phone. If that doesn't work, perhaps there's something wrong with the screen.

Could you post an example of what exactly is happening? The second screen does have some issues, mainly light bleed, but that's something that is inevitable due to the manufacturing process. It could be a problem with the backlight, because as far as I know, the screens are independent and don't utilize the same backlight.

I am not sure, but you could also try manually setting your clock and weather settings as well. It is definitely something software side.

Neither option work. Though like I said even though screen is dark if I swipe it to the left with main screen off the shortcuts do work. I want to think this is software issue, but then factory reset should have fixed it. With smart cover it will stay on for half a second and then go dark.

Believe me, factory resetting a phone can fix many issues, but if 8ts a bug in the ROM itself, it won't fix that. It is a very strange issue, I admit. I don't know if the phone has a separate backlight for ambient display, but if the screen works when the device is unlocked, it should work when it is off.
My best recommendation for you is to exchange the phone if still under warranty. If you cannot do that, then perhaps try flashing another stock AT&T Rom. If you are unable to do that, then your best bet is to keep fiddling with settings to see if it gets fixed or not.

I did buy it on swappa. I do have the receipt from the person that bought it at att store (it was bought in december last year) however I am on cricket. I doubt att will help me. I may need to send it to LG as last resort. I was just hoping there is something else I can do. Could you point to a good guide regarding flashing a stock rom ? I haven't flashed anything in a while

Well, I flashed latest stock firmware using LGUP refurbish option and it didn't fix it. Does anyone have any other ideas ?
Well, I can tell you from experience that whomever received your device for repair probably didn't get all the information. He or she was probably told that there were issues with the screen and to just replace it, without anything else. This is what happens when you have a third party that doesn't understand much about the technology or the devices themselves transferring information between two points.
I can honestly tell you that if swapping out the display didn't fix your issue, there's not much to do about it. It's a shame though, because this is a great phone, and besides battery life, LG nailed pretty much every aspect of what a great phone is. I think your best best is to contact the original owner and notify them of the issue and work something out. Other than that, you can either keep using the device like it or switch to another phone.
