Need Stock Gingerbread for Unroot - T-Mobile LG G2x

I need to return this phone. Bad pixles. I have unrooted it and restored the stock 2.2 rom nandroid. But this phone was shipped with gingerbread. I can't get it to update using the LG software. It says my software is up to date. So I guess I have to root again and flash the stock gb. Will someone help me locate stock gb zips or nandroids?

you have to do some trick with that lg updater to get it to work. Atleast, I had to. If i can find those steps I'll posted.
try this: unless you found a gb zip..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183168
or here are the zip files..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037120

I havent looked but I am sure there is a nandroid or.zip of stock GB in the dev section. If not I just returned my phone to stock because I got a new one and I just wanted to mess around so went to my original GB from befor I played witht the phone and did a factory reset then made a nandroid copy of that on my old phone because the new one was used and the person had someone else do the rooting and flashing for him and they never made a backup of the original. So I took the nandroid backup from my old phone and restored it on the newer one and it worked perfectly. So If you need and it is allowed I can post the copy of that nandroid backup and that should work I think.
Note I am not an expert so if anyone knows better please chime in. But I think that should be okay to send back for warenty exchange. Unless they really look they wont know the difference. I'm sure that they can always tell if they try jhard enough. So when you are on the phone with them make sure you are polite and dont lose your temper for any reason because that will m ake them look harder for a reason not to help you. Thats just my advice. Good luck

You should flash the development section on your phone

Thanks. I cant seem to figure out how to flash those bin files

Now I've done it! I found this file 2x-v10b-1300166062-nvflash and flashed the "flash" app. Now my phone thinks its a p990. What have I done! How do I reverse this! It wont let me flash clockwork recovery anymore

HOT DAMN! I GOT IT! Finally found exactly what was looking for!

MD5 File Misssing Through Rom Manager, Help?

Did a backup of my rom, since i was going to try a different one, and after deciding to go back to the original through backup manager it gives me this message when i click restore "This does not seem to be a valid backup. The MD5 file is missing." Does anyone know what i can do to fix this? HUGE thanks to anyone with the knowledge to assist me.
Sorry to be that guy and bump, but seriously nobody knows what to do? Maybe i can somehow replace that file but I dont want to mess with stuff too much until i know where to start.
i'm also having this problem. i just rooted my phone so i could check out some roms, but right after rooting i made a backup with clockworkmod v3.0.0.2. and also copied it to my pc just in case. well after tooling around with the latest cm7 nightly and myn's warm i was ready to go back to my my original rooted stock evo rom. well when i try i'm getting the md5 file is missing.
i've tried renaming the file with no avail. so basicly now i'm stuck with a custom rom. i know how to unroot my phone back to stock and will probably do that if need be.
so is there any way what so ever to save my backup or am i just screwed?
thanks for your time.

[Q] Need Help! Return to Stock for Warranty Reasons

Hi everyone
I am a noob so be nice to me. I accidently cracked the screen on my Samsung Vibrant and so have a few questions about how to return the phone back to Stock/unrooted (just like befor i flashed). I am fine if i have to lose my contacts, apps. ect...
Background:
I rooted my phone with One-Click-Root/Unroot from XDA (loved it). I then flashed the latest Nero 5.0 ROM from Team Wiskey (Love it). As part of either the root or flashing the ROM(i can't remember which one), I downloaded "ROM Manager" with CWR.
Q #1: Is it as easy returning to stock ROM as just using "Flashing ClockworkMod Recovery" or should I have used "nandroid" (don't know what it does, but I see it talked about) also?
Q #2: I hear people say that you need Odin to return back to stock ROM, but then I hear that is ONLY if you don't have ROM Manager w/CWR. Do I need Odin or do I only need ROM Manager w/CWR?
Q #3: If all I need is ROM Manager w/CWR and it returnes back to what it was before i flashed, can i just us the "Unroot" button on the One-Click-Root/Unroot"?
Q #4(Last Question): Will I recieve OTA's if I have to us Odin and flash a stock ROM, how do I get back to stock and recieveing OTA's?
I understand that there are alot of posts asking how to return to stock but that is from people where something in the programs went wrong when trying to return to stock. I am just wondering what programs (other than ROM Manager and CWR) are need for me to return to stock? Please help, I don't want my phone to be rejected because my warranty is void. Thanks
Noob123
All thats needed to return to stock is a Nandroid backup of your original ROM.
Oh wait.....
Why do people totally fail at this?
What you need now is an original ROM for your device and then flash it from recovery.
So in other words, I need to download a 2.1 Rom (last version i had) from somewhere back on to my computer and then do the same things that i did to flash Nero 5? Is that where Odin comes in? OR, would CWR already have that ROM and everything all in one package?
Like I said, I am a nook. I am suprised that i didnt brick my phone rooting and flashing a ROM the first time. I may be pushing my luck going back to stock. But, it needs to be done if i want my phone fixed.
I would have a look HERE, in the Samsung Vibrant forum. I'm sure you'll find an Official ROM to Flash somewhere in there.
You would just put the .zip on your SD card, restart to Recovery and select the option to Flash from SD
Okay, i am getting it now. However, wont the "Update.zip" (Nero 5.0) be there on my SD memory already? Will i damage my phone if i delete the "Update.zip" and put in the Stock.zip (then do the recovery thing)? So once i get the Stock ROM uploaded on my phone, can i just use the one-click-unroot (from XDA) to have my phone be unrooted and new just like it was when i bought the phone? Will i get OTA's?
Thank you for your help, i am sorry for bugging you but i feel like i am starting to understand it more. These are probably the last questions that i have....probably

[Q] Send back for Repair, Need to remove CWM and put everything back to stock

Good evening,
I did a search but could not find any posts that were clear on restoring to stock so I can send my tablet in for a screen repair.
How do I remove CWM and put everything back to the original factory stock? I am currently running Prime 1.3.
Thank you in advance!
I've not read anything about this yet and we certainly need a good guide written about this topic. Maybe your best bet is to pm some of the people who have created the roms for advice. If you get an answer feel free to write a nice guide about it.
I'll have to look for the thread (search for unroot in dev forum). You'll need to flash back to your nandroid backup, then download 8.2.3.9, and apply the blob from that package the same way you did with blob5. I want to say theres no need to flash back (step 1), but that's what I did. Make sure you do a md5 on the PC/Mac copy against the copy on you're sd card as well. After that you should be unrooted and back to stock.
Edit: Needless to say you only do the blob steps and not the gingerbreak, SU stuff
Edir 2: Also, I know when you root a second time that the boom sh or something needs to be deleted, though I'm not sure whether or not its a good idea to delete these before sending it back.

[Q] The more I read, the more confused I get

New to Android, about 3 weeks now with my Rogers 1727R. I've been trying to grab all the good files and build my understanding of returning my phone to it's stock ROM if I have to return it or if I brick it etc. But I seem to have downloaded, from this forum, so many files, with different names and files sizes, I'm confused about what does what. So I'm asking any senior people here if they can tell me what I have, what it does, and whether I need it. Here goes:
Stock_ROM_SGH-I727R-UCKJ2-k0nane.7z - Think this is a stock ROM but un-bloated. It's 257 MB.
i727_stock_kernel_odin.tar - It's 10 MB, appears to be a stock AT&T ROM, but perhaps just the kernel, not the whole ROM?
Stock Recovery.tar - It's 6.08 MB. Downloaded it today.
Nandroid backup - 841 Megs with data.ext4.tar, system.ext4.tar, boot.img and recovery.img which I thought was a complete image of my ROM.
Look at the size differences. From 6 MB up to 841 MB. What the heck are all these files?
please dont cross-post.....
I was wondering the same thing. I rooted my Skyrocket but in the instance that ICS is available before more custom roms, I may want to unroot. I can't find much information on this. Only how to root for which there is good information and tutorial videos. The size of the different recovery files seems to vary quite a bit.
You do not.need to unroot to take an ota update. You just cant delete any bloat. And gota have stock recovery..... so freeze bloat dont delete. But if you do you can always odin the stock tar
I thought when you flash ClockWorkMod (recovery.tar) that that replaces your stock recovery. Or do you still have the stock recovery just with CWM added?

Yes when you flash CWM you replace stock, do not take an update if you are using CWM, flash back to stock recovery first if you think you just have to have the #.#.2 instead of the #.#.1, to me its not worth it. Once I flash I don't go back to stock. The developers here are amazing.
@ harry_fine, be careful, or you are going to end up with a $200 paper weight. I know how confusing this stuff looks when you first start. Do you're research, make a plan before downloading random stuff you know nothing about. I like to play it safe. I read the posts in the developers section a few times a day for a week before I even start to flash a phone. Most all developers that post things give a very in depth description of what it is they are making available READ IT ALL, and follow directions posted. If i see something that looks interesting I just let it sit a couple days and read what people post about it. If all seems good and there are no major problems I give it a try if not ill let it pass. I have yet to brick a phone (knock on wood). I hope this helps.
BTW
Stock_ROM_SGH-I727R-UCKJ2-k0nane.7z -its a ROM, the post where you got it should tell you whats in it
i727_stock_kernel_odin.tar - this is a stock kernel, I like to think of them as drivers for you phone, install with odin
Stock Recovery.tar - this is a stock recovery you need this if you have installed CWM but want to instal an update, install with odin
Nandroid backup - this is something you should make using CWM before you start flashing a ROM just encase the ROM jacks up you phone you can reinstall
Thanks for explaining that. I am still trying to get the hang of everything myself. I read the Rooting instructions and watched several how to videos before I even considered taking the plunge. I am still a little confused about some of the terminology but I am learning by the day.
The only reason I would consider going back to stock would be if ICS is available before CM7 or CM9 on Skyrocket and then I would want to try it out.
So, if I were to flash back to "stock recovery.tar" (Does the name matter at all?) and take the update, that would would mean I was unrooted again right? Then I would undergo the same procedure to flash cwm and then Superuser?
If I use a custom kernal can that stay the same or does it need to be stock as well before installing an update or new rom?
I don't pay that much attention to the "return to stock threads" since I would never risk it for an update, even ICS, but from what I understand If you wanted to take the update you would need to put the stock recovery (name may not matter but why risk it) and stock kernel back in. You would still be rooted, and need only install CWM if you wanted to instal another ROM later. I think. If I am wrong someone will correct me, but that should be that.
Then how does one completely unroot if they wanted (or needed) to?
To unroot you odin the stock tar
---------- Post added at 05:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:10 PM ----------
The stock tar in the unroot reaturn to stock fix soft brick thread. Is the factory firmware the phone comes with.....stock recovery not rooted

The nandroid WILL work fine. And as for ROM manager.... It's a no go for us. Only use it to fix permissions.... and only do that if you have problems.

You dont need to do anything with rom manager but fix permissions. Dont worry about flashing cwm with it, you already have it. but just so you know we would use the tmobile version because we don't have one.
The backup should work fine, if not, no big deal just odin the stock tar file from sammobile.
i think i saw that stock file somewhere in my searching, i might just go find it just in case...if i some how get messed up playing around ,your saying i can just boot into download mode in odin and install the stock tar?

You speak too fast !!!!
1. If you use ROM manager to "update" recovery, you do need the T mobile one.....BUT BUT BUT, it will throw you to an older version.......which may or may not give problems..............so forget it,.
2. Want to know if you nandorid works. Simple. Just go into CWM and restore it. Then you will know ! Seriously, if it buggers your phone, you can easily go back to stock. This is the only way you will ever sleep at night !!
How do I know? That is the only way I figured it out for myself my very first time !
Have fun !
i did just for giggles try and go back and restore it in cwm (was worried to do it cause my phone is working very very nicely) but i did and it gave me an error something about not being able to mount ex sd card ....thats what has got me worried...as you know there is not an ex sd card that came with the phone so everything was done on the internal one..and thats where the back up is stored with cwm....it gave me an option to just reboot and i did and everything is fine..but i still am left wondering if the backup will work when i need it.....will cwm be able to restore from internal sd card? it didnt when i didnt need it to but was that just because everything was ok to start with??

That "error" is normal about xet sd card. I have done nandroid backups to both external and intenal SD. Both work fine. The internal SD also is NOT deleted whn you wipe data etc. for flashing ROMs.
Again, since the ext sd backup works........the best way to know is to try. Create nandroid to internal card.....then restore from internal ! Bingo, now you know !
Another good option is to copy the backup to a computer. Then you can put is on to the ext sd card if anything evil happens.
Keep smiling !
Yes. Everything will be fine. Trust CWM. It has never failed.
On another note... ohmygod a respectable noob! ^.^
