[Q] Send back for Repair, Need to remove CWM and put everything back to stock - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening,
I did a search but could not find any posts that were clear on restoring to stock so I can send my tablet in for a screen repair.
How do I remove CWM and put everything back to the original factory stock? I am currently running Prime 1.3.
Thank you in advance!

I've not read anything about this yet and we certainly need a good guide written about this topic. Maybe your best bet is to pm some of the people who have created the roms for advice. If you get an answer feel free to write a nice guide about it.

I'll have to look for the thread (search for unroot in dev forum). You'll need to flash back to your nandroid backup, then download 8.2.3.9, and apply the blob from that package the same way you did with blob5. I want to say theres no need to flash back (step 1), but that's what I did. Make sure you do a md5 on the PC/Mac copy against the copy on you're sd card as well. After that you should be unrooted and back to stock.
Edit: Needless to say you only do the blob steps and not the gingerbreak, SU stuff
Edir 2: Also, I know when you root a second time that the boom sh or something needs to be deleted, though I'm not sure whether or not its a good idea to delete these before sending it back.

[Q] Need Help! Return to Stock for Warranty Reasons

Hi everyone
I am a noob so be nice to me. I accidently cracked the screen on my Samsung Vibrant and so have a few questions about how to return the phone back to Stock/unrooted (just like befor i flashed). I am fine if i have to lose my contacts, apps. ect...
Background:
I rooted my phone with One-Click-Root/Unroot from XDA (loved it). I then flashed the latest Nero 5.0 ROM from Team Wiskey (Love it). As part of either the root or flashing the ROM(i can't remember which one), I downloaded "ROM Manager" with CWR.
Q #1: Is it as easy returning to stock ROM as just using "Flashing ClockworkMod Recovery" or should I have used "nandroid" (don't know what it does, but I see it talked about) also?
Q #2: I hear people say that you need Odin to return back to stock ROM, but then I hear that is ONLY if you don't have ROM Manager w/CWR. Do I need Odin or do I only need ROM Manager w/CWR?
Q #3: If all I need is ROM Manager w/CWR and it returnes back to what it was before i flashed, can i just us the "Unroot" button on the One-Click-Root/Unroot"?
Q #4(Last Question): Will I recieve OTA's if I have to us Odin and flash a stock ROM, how do I get back to stock and recieveing OTA's?
I understand that there are alot of posts asking how to return to stock but that is from people where something in the programs went wrong when trying to return to stock. I am just wondering what programs (other than ROM Manager and CWR) are need for me to return to stock? Please help, I don't want my phone to be rejected because my warranty is void. Thanks
Noob123
All thats needed to return to stock is a Nandroid backup of your original ROM.
Oh wait.....
Why do people totally fail at this?
What you need now is an original ROM for your device and then flash it from recovery.
So in other words, I need to download a 2.1 Rom (last version i had) from somewhere back on to my computer and then do the same things that i did to flash Nero 5? Is that where Odin comes in? OR, would CWR already have that ROM and everything all in one package?
Like I said, I am a nook. I am suprised that i didnt brick my phone rooting and flashing a ROM the first time. I may be pushing my luck going back to stock. But, it needs to be done if i want my phone fixed.
I would have a look HERE, in the Samsung Vibrant forum. I'm sure you'll find an Official ROM to Flash somewhere in there.
You would just put the .zip on your SD card, restart to Recovery and select the option to Flash from SD
Okay, i am getting it now. However, wont the "Update.zip" (Nero 5.0) be there on my SD memory already? Will i damage my phone if i delete the "Update.zip" and put in the Stock.zip (then do the recovery thing)? So once i get the Stock ROM uploaded on my phone, can i just use the one-click-unroot (from XDA) to have my phone be unrooted and new just like it was when i bought the phone? Will i get OTA's?
Thank you for your help, i am sorry for bugging you but i feel like i am starting to understand it more. These are probably the last questions that i have....probably

[Q] How to identify a Nandroid backup? (I did search before asking)

Hi,
Let me say it first that I did a search for [identifying nandroid] and have read through those 11 theads in the search result before asking this. I still can't find a clear answer so let me ask this.
--- Situation ---
- Bought an i9020A White Nexus S off ebay.
- It has Cyanogen Mod 7 installed. (which means it has ClockWorkMod installed as well)
- Run the CWM and found some Nandroid back up files.
--- My Goal ---
- Try to get the device back to 100% stock/out of the box state
- After some researching, I found that using Nandroid back up can get me to 100% stock (if the previous owner did back it up before flashing CM7)
--- Question ---
1. How to identify what's inside each Nandroid back up files?? (I just want the 100% stock Nandroid, though)
2. If there's no way to identify, is it safe to use CWM to try flashing them(the Nandroid(s) ) one-by-one?
I mean, will I brick my phone if one of those Nandroid came from another model like i9020T?(or even from another phone altogether like Galaxy S for example)
Thank you =)
why not just flash a stock rom?
yea i dont know what the below poster is saying, dont bother with a nandroid
go here and use the one for GSM models. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060192
make a nandroid buck up first......and do this at your own risk ....not my fault if it doesnt work
As another person has already said above, there are nandroid backups of stock roms available to download on these forums.
Look for a suitable nandroid backup, download it, and decompress and copy it to your sdcard on the appropriate folder ( clockworkmod/backup ), and then you will be able to recover it.
Please, wipe cache and data too. CM7 data won't work fine with the stock ROM.
Hi,
Thanks for replying.
However, if I flash (unofficial, unsigned)stock rom I won't get future OTA updates according to this thread:

[Q] Confirm Basic Steps to return D2G to Stock

Searching this forum is sometime a needle in a haystack, especially when you are looking for something basic. Can someone please point me to a link/page in this forum that gives basic step by step instructions on how to return my D2G to stock to accept the newest upgrades. I think they go something like this, but not sure.
Back up the entire image with Titanium
Obtain the stock sbf (2.4.29 in my case)
Rename to update.zip and copy to root dir on SD
Boot into recovery mode
First wipe cache/reset
Then run the update.zip
Is that it? Do I have to unroot or does the wipe fix that. Am I missing any steps?
Also still looking for the 2.4.33 SBF file if someone has that link.
Thanks.
EDIT: The best reference I found is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060694
It is a bit more complex than I described above, but it will work.
I am upgrading to GB as we speak (about 2 hours of downloading.upgrading to get here!)
Never did find the 2.4.33 file, but just OTA'd it, no problem!
Hope this link helps someone else, there is a lot of this going around!

Need Stock Gingerbread for Unroot

I need to return this phone. Bad pixles. I have unrooted it and restored the stock 2.2 rom nandroid. But this phone was shipped with gingerbread. I can't get it to update using the LG software. It says my software is up to date. So I guess I have to root again and flash the stock gb. Will someone help me locate stock gb zips or nandroids?
you have to do some trick with that lg updater to get it to work. Atleast, I had to. If i can find those steps I'll posted.
try this: unless you found a gb zip..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183168
or here are the zip files..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037120
I havent looked but I am sure there is a nandroid or.zip of stock GB in the dev section. If not I just returned my phone to stock because I got a new one and I just wanted to mess around so went to my original GB from befor I played witht the phone and did a factory reset then made a nandroid copy of that on my old phone because the new one was used and the person had someone else do the rooting and flashing for him and they never made a backup of the original. So I took the nandroid backup from my old phone and restored it on the newer one and it worked perfectly. So If you need and it is allowed I can post the copy of that nandroid backup and that should work I think.
Note I am not an expert so if anyone knows better please chime in. But I think that should be okay to send back for warenty exchange. Unless they really look they wont know the difference. I'm sure that they can always tell if they try jhard enough. So when you are on the phone with them make sure you are polite and dont lose your temper for any reason because that will m ake them look harder for a reason not to help you. Thats just my advice. Good luck
You should flash the development section on your phone
Thanks. I cant seem to figure out how to flash those bin files
Now I've done it! I found this file 2x-v10b-1300166062-nvflash and flashed the "flash" app. Now my phone thinks its a p990. What have I done! How do I reverse this! It wont let me flash clockwork recovery anymore
HOT DAMN! I GOT IT! Finally found exactly what was looking for!

How did you back up?
If you used CWM (from the A2 Bootstrapper) just reboot into CWM, go to backup and restore, select restore, and select the backup that you made.
If you didn't use CWM or you can't find the backup then you will have to flash the fxz as said above. It will completely remove all of your apps and return you to stock 2.3.5. Make sure that you follow the directions about replacing files.
Thank you matt99017d I will check the link and cogeary I did the back up CWM I'll go that route first if that doesnt work, I'll go back to the beginning. Thank you again for the help
I could not find the backup in CWM so I flashed fxz following the instruction on the link you provided and the info. I'm back to 2.3.6 and it is rooted. Thats as far as I'm going for now, thanks for the help you all provided.
I see at /system/etc/init.d 2 files with sd-card optimization. 03sdtweak and 99override. Is there right or needed to delete one of them?
I highly suggest getting Titanium, for the cases where you don't have a back up, because I lost all my free apps and I don't even remember what all I had. I'm getting things back as I need them.

^ shows everything you've installed from the Android Market. You should have records somewhere if you got things from the Amazon Appstore.
I haven't tried it myself but if you've made a backup in CWM you have the option to only restore apps/data.
Well I decided to give SuperCharged V5 with update 1, and when I disconnected form the charger this morning it was stuck in the boot animation. It has been stuck in that position for the last 30 minutes.
I connected it to PC and it doesnt show as being connected. I've done a search and can't find anything on how to fix it.
I did a battery pull, took SD card out to see if I could maybe transfer something from it to desktop, but everything that was on it is gone.
Don't know what happened.
Can someone point me in the right direction?? In the mean time I'll keep looking.
Ozzie Im in a similar situation. I"m in a bootloop as well (Supercharged Logo just keeps rolling on the screen). I can't get into the Android OS, and I also can't even get into Fastboot to flash back to stock. At this time it appears its bricked. I have been trying to fix this the past 12 hours.
Are you in the same situation??!

I am sorry to say, but if you can't get into fastboot it's probably bricked
so i installed V5 and update 2 and i am getting the force closes and my phone won't show up when i plug the usb into my computer
and i can't delete or edit files in my files and i can't open any websites or connect to airdroid on wifi, or use data so i can't get any files onto my phone
help...
flashing the stock fxz worked
Man...and I was gonna do this...flash the supercharged ROM. Nevermind.
after i flashed the 2.3.5 fxz like the bootstrapping thread instructed, i installed the ota update and rooted my phone again and then i tried the custom rom again just for fun
but this time i did v5 and then update 1. then instead of doing update 2, i flashed the image of the rom that's linked right under update 2 in the supercharged thread
it works flawlessly for me now
so i would just recommend that
