ok so.. i want to order the asus eee pad trans from b&H to israel and i talked with them and they said the warranty is not international but i saw that someone checked it out and he saw that in page 5 of the warranty card it says:
International Warranty and SupporT:
Your ASUS Eee Pad will be covered by global ASUS service for the period defined on the label sticker on the 1st page of the Eee pad warranty card from your original purchase date (the Eee Pad purchase receipt or other proof of purchase may be required)

i need help ! please more comments !

i think they were referring to the store's warranty, which is usally about 30-90 days, but factory warranty is something different, which includes worldwide support.

[Q] Warranty Question

Hi, I live in the UK and have got family in the US to buy a transformer and bring it over with them. Can anybody WITH a transformer confirm if it is a US warranty or global like the pc's they do.
Thanks!
I think I read a post in XDA which confirmed the warranty was worldwide.

Yeah, I read that too, but I saw someone said the booklet said US....
Can anyone confirm this or not? I'm really interested in buying the Transformer Prime when it is released in the US as it will be priced at $499. Here in the UK it is likely to be priced at around £499 which is just silly. Anyway, the warranty rules for the original transformer is probably likely to be the same as the Prime so just wanted to find out. TIA

I've used Squaretrade (http://www.squaretrade.com) on all of my phones....fortunately I have not yet had to file a claim, so can't comment on their customer service....I like ST because you can get accident covered for drops, spills, etc. unlike some extended warranties...

I already register with Asus, but I don't see any option to purchase extended warranty.

If you buy using visa or amex it automatically doubles the mfr warranty. They also provide cheap extended warranty so you may want to check that as an option.

Unlocking Bootloader

Hi, im considering unlocking the bootloader, but the problem is it voids the Asus warranty. now i bought my tablet at best buy with the 2 year warranty because i tend to have bad luck with damaging electronics. if i unlock the bootloader and damage the tablet and take it in for repair will best buy still take it back and would i be able to get a replacement?
Thanks,
Ryan
i dont believe so. i think modifying the system will void it. i would go to best buys website and look at there warranty policy

Officially, unlocking your bootloader means losing warranty altogether -- I strongly doubt if BestBuy looks at your bootloader at all, but if they do not give you a direct replacement and send it in to ASUS instead, they probably will notice.
there is nothing on best buys website under the warranty section about anything related to unlocking/rooting and all that cool stuff

Well, I doubt they would go into that detail. But I strongly suspect they won't cover anything where they are not backed from the vendor (Asus).

^^ This. Iin Europe, warranty handling is explicitly assigned to the retailer during at least the first year, so in that case yo ucan go to the retailer and say "fix this". They'd still have to send it in, though, and if ASUS subsequently claims it is user error the retailer is going to follow that statement blindly. This means you'd have to pay.
Also, they probably put a clause in there regarding user interventions or user-induced damages -- falling off a table would be a prime example, but so would flashing a custom ROM -- software that's not supposed to be there at all in the first place -- by the end-user. You have made clear your intentions to do some funky stuff to your 700 by unlocking the bootloader, an action an average user in general would not perform, or even consider.

[Q] Warranty on a Nexus 5 from Ebay

If I buy a nexus 5 from ebay, can I still use the Google warranty on it?

Technically, the warranty is not by Google - it is by LG. Google will handle returns/replacements within the first 15 days.
According to LG, the warranty is for 12 months for the original purchaser.

Can I invoke it using the original receipt?
I think the warranty is tied to the original email address

Sorry - can't say because I haven't tried it. I suspect it will be ok if you have original receipt since all LG would really care about is the purchase date to figure out whether it is still under warranty or not, but I don't know if they will check purchaser name as well. You could check with Google/LG to be sure, but I'm pretty sure they will give you the legal answer
Just out of curiosity, why are you buying from ebay instead of the play store? Is it significantly cheaper there? I just glanced thru' some of the postings there and they all seem to be selling over $400 (buy it now)

The price in the Play Store is almost 450, with taxes and shipping, and there are options for less than that.
Moreover, I am having trouble ordering from the Play Store as I am not a resident of the USA, and only sending it to a person there. I know that the ebay order will get there, unlike the Play Store order which is still pending and can be dropped at any moment.
