[Q] Extended Warranty for TF - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Does anyone know where I can purchase Extended Warranty for TF? I purchased from Fry's Electronics but they do not offer extended warranty for the TF. I want to purchase an one year or two years Extended Warranty for my TF.

I've used Squaretrade (http://www.squaretrade.com) on all of my phones....fortunately I have not yet had to file a claim, so can't comment on their customer service....I like ST because you can get accident covered for drops, spills, etc. unlike some extended warranties...

I already register with Asus, but I don't see any option to purchase extended warranty.

If you buy using visa or amex it automatically doubles the mfr warranty. They also provide cheap extended warranty so you may want to check that as an option.

lg warranty info

I bought this phone used from craigslist and do not have service for it currently.
is my warranty still valid?
who would I contact if something decides to break?

NO. There is no warranty. To obtain warranty service you must prove you bought your phone through an authorized channel. Craigslist and eBay are specifically excluded from warranty coverage.

can you state some sources? I doubt this doesn't have a warranty
Here is the applicable text from the warranty.
(2) The limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser of the product
and is not assignable or transferable to any subsequent purchaser/end user.
So if you bought it second hand on Craigslist or through a gray market reseller, there is no warranty.
Applicable warranty pages attached.

Ok, so if i was able to get the original owner to call in would that work?
Would they even ask me if i was the original owner?
I believe i should have the right to a warranty

maybe you should of made this title hey how do i scam into a warranty.
boxer told you and showed you in writing that if you buy from an unauthorized dealer or second hand there is no manufacturers warranty.
is it right or fair maybe not but it is what it is.
Due to how you bought the phone you do not have a warranty.
If you have the original buyer say he still has the phone and gets it warrantied that would probably work.
I hate to break this to everyone, but based on what I have observed and after reading about the experiences of others... I don't think any of us have a functional warranty, regardless of where we obtained our G2xs.

In my experience, LG makes good washers and dryers. Maybe that should've gave me pause to think before I bought this phone.
I believe you'd still have warranty through LG, just not T-Mobile, which is a bummer.

ya no kidding. After getting several G2X's with screen-bleed problem I called LG trying to get them to fix / replace it bia the warranty. Making a LONG story short - they wouldn't honor the warranty because "all the G2X's have that problem" !!! Is that f-ed up or what! They're all defective so they wont fix...hahahaha. Last thing I ever by from LG for sure.

It's LG poor part choice, I remember my Zune, the OLED screen would actually light up when black in certian spots, it was very annoying. Almost every phone has it's weak spot. But what i'm concerned about is the charge port breaking, it looks very vulnerable being so thin
Just another side note. There is also a big section in the user manual's and the warranty that says if you install a non official OS the warranty is also void. So by default, 99% of anyone reading this on this forum would have no warranty even if they were the original purchaser. Yea, if you can return it to stock you should be ok, but if your beyond that you'd be screwed. I bought mine second hand and had it sent to me in Bangkok. So I knew I would have no warranty coverage here regardless of what I did with the phone (which is still stock as I haven't seen any reason to root it yet).

Best Return Policy?

Who has the best return policy?
I thought I read somewhere where someone bought a TF700 and had 30 days to return it.
I am curious so that I have plenty of time to try this out and if I don't like it, I can return it.
With Amazon, not only you can return it in 30 days, they will send you the replacement before you have to send the original out. It's so convenient.
Best Buy's return policy is 30 days, dont throw out the box and dont take off the sticker near the dock connector with the serial number on it.

Ok, just to be clear you just didn't walk in and demand to buy a new product and they refunded you a 6 month old product. I have no idea on how people do these things? Here in NJ you can't do ANYTHING like that. Every store has such strict rules about returns it is amazing. Most stores have policies if you OPEN up the product you can't return it. Only exchange it. I'm so surprised to read things like this. I even have had issues at Walmart one time trying to return something. For some reason the employees that work at these places act like it is their money.

They refunded it to a gift card. This is Best Buy company policy. They service every item they sell. If they don't carry that product they replace it. The exchange is the remedy for them not servicing the product.

Actually, best buy will take it back at any time that it's still under the manufacturers warranty. I just returned my Prime that I bought in december and got a store credit.

The key to that is as long as it is defective and not a serviceable SKU. Which the Prime is not serviceable, as in they can't send it off for repair.

Sad to say he was incorrect, it should have been covered under manufacturer's warranty. They should have prorated returned the ADH and let you rebuy it.

To add to my thread....Can anyone comment on Amazon's return policy?
I can either order from Amazon today for my TF700, or I can wait till this weekend and order through Best Buy online and skip sales tax because MO is doing a sales tax holiday weekend.
I am just curious as how easy Amazon's return policy is incase I get a defective unit.

Wow you got lucky. I dropped my galaxy tab 10.1 the other day. The screen cracked so bad it was starting to come off the sides, and the tablet wouldn't even turn on. I brought it back to best buy to get a credit since they don't sell that anymore. Best buy told me I had to send it in to get it fixed, and I won't get it back for 2-4 weeks. When I bought the warranty, however, they told me if the screen cracked I could come in and get an instant replacement since it's not worth fixing a tablet if the screen is cracked. I am now without a tablet for a month, and I had my hopes up to get the infinity. Never again am I buying a warranty from best buy.

Technically, the warranty is not by Google - it is by LG. Google will handle returns/replacements within the first 15 days.
According to LG, the warranty is for 12 months for the original purchaser.

Sorry - can't say because I haven't tried it. I suspect it will be ok if you have original receipt since all LG would really care about is the purchase date to figure out whether it is still under warranty or not, but I don't know if they will check purchaser name as well. You could check with Google/LG to be sure, but I'm pretty sure they will give you the legal answer
Just out of curiosity, why are you buying from ebay instead of the play store? Is it significantly cheaper there? I just glanced thru' some of the postings there and they all seem to be selling over $400 (buy it now)

The price in the Play Store is almost 450, with taxes and shipping, and there are options for less than that.
Moreover, I am having trouble ordering from the Play Store as I am not a resident of the USA, and only sending it to a person there. I know that the ebay order will get there, unlike the Play Store order which is still pending and can be dropped at any moment.

Best place to buy in the UK?

Is there a goto place to buy in the UK with a UK warranty?
Had a nightmare with oneplus and wont' buy chinese again until they have some local presence.
The Honor 8 in blue looks great, so hence the question of where to buy.

If you get told they can't sell them on the phone and online only, then hand up and call back until you get someone who knows what they are doing. took me three attempts. must be why they are called three!
Buying them Honor devices from Three UK you get the same warranty as if bought online via Vmall.UK.So trust assured you good on all accounts and Vmall will deal with you directly once bought.

I think 1 year is good enough already... usually after 1 year, manufacturer will stop/slow down upgrade, at that time, you have to rely on developers from XDA or places alike.

i have to agree here, most places will only offer a year anyway as after this they normally have slowed down production and are at that point concentrating on another product.
if its that much of a problem about aftercare i would personally find good insurance for your phone after the year is up @OP
i have insurance on all my electronics so i never pay a thing for breakdowns etc.

Can someone pm me a copy of a receipt for their xl 2?

I have a pixel 2 xl, that needs warranty service. It's only 10 mos old. It's under warranty, yet Google will not warranty it, since I don't have the receipt. This will be my 1st, and last Google product, since they won't warranty it without a receipt. With an iPhone, you walk into the store, they check the device, you walk out with a refurbished one, no questions asked. I really would appreciate a copy of an invoice. Any personal info like credit card can be blocked out. Thanks, really would appreciate it!

The problem you have is the IMEI/serial number won't match yours, so I doubt they would accept the your warranty claim. Can you not just go back to the place you purchased it from and ask them to print you a duplicate receipt? Or did you buy it second hand? I get your point about apple having a great repair policy but your annoyance with Google is a little petty as most warranties are only valid with original proof of purchase.

No, It was won at a party. And no, my annoyance with google is not petty. APPLE warranties their products for the life of the warranty, whether your the original owner, or 10th owner. The warranty is supposed to be on the device. I will NEVER deal with a google product again. This is truly a joke.

Actually most warranties aren't transferable and are only valid with proof of purchase, that is standard across most industries. You could ask the person or company who held the party if they have the proof of purchase for you as you need it for warranty purposes. Also you won the device so technically you didn't deal with Google.

Yes apple have excellent service thats not in question but it's above the industry average. I had to send my HTC in for an out of warranty repair they wanted the receipt for that. Just ask the people who gave it you for the receipt not members of the XDA
I've not had to make a warranty claim on my Pixel 2, but I had warranty replacements of both Nexus 5X and Nexus 5 and in each case I just had to give Google the IMEI and they confirmed the warranty was applicable.
Maybe they have different rules for different countries, but they should be able to look the IMEI number up on their system and confirm the warranty applies.
