htc fuze warranty /tilt 2 - Touch Pro, Fuze General

did anyone get their fuze replaced under warranty by a htc tilt 2 via the 1-800-801-1101

you can, its considered an equivalent phone. they claim not to have any but you can get a pure. they have plenty of those in stock.

Yeah I just called in my warranty yesterday, and they told me that they didn't have any Tilt 2's. They offered me a Pure, or a Samsung Epix. I think we'll have to wait a while until we're able to get the Tilt 2 through warranty exchange.

ATT offered me the Tilt2 on my sixth (I think) return of my fuze. They do not currently have any in stock, I recommend waiting for a few more weeks. They should have some in stock at that point.
Keep in mind that you will not get a new Tilt2.
They do have brand new PUre's in stock as well as the range of blackberry's, etc.
M

who would accept a lesser phone like an blackberry or nokia. i payed quite alot for my fuze and the equivalent is a tilt 2. the tilt 2 is even less than what i payed for my fuze.

I would really like to ditch my Fuze and I have the warranty (also the Fuze slider is starting to wiggle a bit). Can someone tell me about the warranty process? I have never done it before.

haha i'm thinking about this let us know when anyone gets a tilt2!!

three warranty issues and phone exchanges because of them, and youre given the option to do a "courtesy exchange". youre allowed to get a lesser value phone unless you say "no i want this one, its worth the same amount dammit!". btw the tilt 2 is $50 less than the fuze originally was so they consider it a lesser valued phone. use that as an example when youre on the phone with them. the one exchange for a different phone is done per account. and youre only allowed to do it once. they wont let you switch to another phone after you switch from the fuze. so if they say "the tilt 2 is out of stock, would you like an htc pure instead?" dont say yes cause you cant get the pure exchanged for a tilt 2. get the fuze exchanged for another fuze until they say they have a tilt 2 in stock. make sure to post in here if you get a tilt 2 so we know when they are "in stock". thanks.
they are going to give me a tilt 2... they just are...

TILT 2
Just got it...... I have a Fuze, and Ive exchanged it about 4 times.... I was offered the tilt 2 like everyone else, but got the same speech...(out of stock)..I am out of contract with ATT so, I started whinning about how my current phone is also defective and thetened them to cancel my account... Long story short they are going to discount my account $30 for the next 3 months and send me a refurbished "FULL KIT" model # ST7377 aka Tilt 2 in 2-5 business days....

so do they have the tilt 2 in stock yet since u got and they said it was outta stock??? im confused lol
and yall call back to see if they have it yet and let me noe i called 2 days ago and att still out of stock!!

i called 2 days ago too. i guess they finally got some in stock. i should call. prolly tomorrow, i unno.

No Tilt2s in stock.
I'm just waiting. I have my old 3125 I'm using....not great, but it works ;-)
Once I get the Tilt2, I will point out the fact that I have been using an older phone due to my current issues.
M

I already bought a Tilt 2 but called in 2 days ago for my FUZE. I have had it replaced multiple times before and was offered a different phone on the last time I got it exchanged. I kept the FUZE though. 2 days ago I called again (though it wasn't actually broken this time) and they offered me a Bold or a Pure. I asked about the Tilt 2 and they said they don't have them in full kits, they only have the FUZE in full kit. I took the Pure because my warranty is up in 3 days (though you get 90 days for your new refurb).
They said that this is only a one time thing and I won't be able to do it again (ever, or just with this phone, I don't know) so there is probably no way to get my PURE exchanged for a Tilt 2. Maybe I should have taken another FUZE and got it exchanged for a Tilt 2 later, but its too late for that now. I planned on selling whatever I got on eBay since I already have a Tilt 2. The Pure is worth about $75 more than my FUZE, but the Tilt 2 would have been worth about another $100 over that.

i would have waited for the tilt 2. infact, thats what im doing. its supposed to be 1 exchange per account total, including family plans. maybe you can convince them to exchange the tilt 2 for something in the future if needed.

Does anyone know if they will swap me out for a tilt2 on a insurance claim?

Do all you guys who are going to request the fuze to tilt2 exchange pay for the insurance through ATT or are they going to do it under your manufacturers warranty?
Also, if I have never called in about the problems I'm having with my fuze, should I still request they exchange it for a tilt2?

ATT Warranty for Fuze

Does anyone know when the ATT warranty dept will start having the Fuze for replacements?
I currently have another model, which has been giving my alot of problems and I would like to change out for a Fuze.

Hi, I'm most assured that will not happen as long as they have the Referbed Tilts.. What phone do you currentally have?
princeison said:
After AT&T formally releases the AT&T Fuze, then they might send you a new Fuze if your past phone is under warranty or if its insured and has been sent in due to complaints several times. No matter what you would have to haggle with AT&T to get the Fuze since it is a $500 phone and it just released. It is understandable that no one would want to give this phone out for free especially in this time, when its so hard to get hands on it.

Not all of that is totally true. See this will only work if you have a tilt and you would have to have at least changed it 3-4 times already through warranty. The day that the fuze was released, a dude came and exchanged his (i would say purposely) frozen tilt and he was given a fuze.

AT&T insurance exchange on Fuze

Does anyone know if AT&T still has fuze for insurance exchange or do they use another phone like the tilt 2 ?
Is there a deductible?
Have not use that service yet.
I want to upgrade but I'm waiting for some of the newer phones to arrive so I figured Tilt 2 might hold me over.
Or is there another way to do this.
Thanks.
if you've signed up for insurance on it, then they'll replace your phone with a new or refurbished fuze for a $125 deductible.
edit: They'll only upgrade you if its time for your upgrade, however you're gonna have to pay for that phone normally like you did when signing a contract.
your going to get a fuze back. i lost mine and had to pay. kinda wish i didnt but i did get a refurb fuze back

What's the Chances of AT&T swapping out a Captivate for an HTC Inspire 4G?

I went to Best Buy to peruse this evening and checked out the HTC Inspire 4G - overall it's a pretty snappy phone and the 4.3" screen has me drooling along with the front camera, rear flash and the Sense UI that has grown so much from my good old days of HTC on Windows Mobile!!! Then I thought to myself, hmmmm, perhaps AT&T will let me get it!!!
I purchased the Captivate on July 15th, about three days ahead of the actual release date and I was beaming - until the woeful GPS and now the occasional rebooting if you look at it too hard issues came up, of course I stuck with it because originally they said the holy grail of 2.2 would be out by August, then the end of September, then after Turkey day then by Christmas...... and now it's almost March, almost seven months later to the date!!!
I've been a Bell South/Cingular/AT&T subscriber since 2000, now a little over 11 years, and thru those years I've had let's say about nine phones of my own not to include my wifes phone and then my kids as they grew up and I gave them phones via the family plan. Strangely enough when I upgraded my last phone (HTC Fuze) to the captivate they gave me the option to upgrade a year later which will be July 15th, they usually let me upgrade every year or so so I'm always fresh.
But after this second hassle with them about a Samsung smart phone (first was the BlackJack) I'm pretty done and ready to go back to old reliable HTC and call them up and demand that they give me an Inspire or I nip all my plans in the bud since they all expire this year with my phone being the last one to expire in July and moving over to T-Mobile or Verizon. I know I could get it and they would probably extend my contract another 6 months or so, and I've seen the specs on it and know that by mid summer it would be be beyond old hat since it's pretty much the Evo with GSM with new Sense UI. Or I could wait and see if they would give me the Infuse or the new Motorola but I'd hate to get any of those phones then see in July that the new HTC Super Duper or Samsung Galaxy S 2.5 come out then. Should I wait it out another five months with the Captivate, play the warranty return game till they offer me an alternative or just say" Yo AT&T, if you still want my business give me a Motorola!!!"
Right there with you. Got my Cappy in late July, now on my sixth. They offered to give me a different phone on the last two, but the closest to the Cap's specs were the x10 and iPhone 4. Hoping number six here holds out until the x12's or Atrix's come out. If they're not willing to budge on my terms when it inevitably dies (free and no-new-contract) then I'm paying the ETF and heading to sprint.
I'm planning on doing the same. Although chances are they will only change it (one time) to another phone that is refurbished. So it might take a while to jump on a new phone.
How did you manage to gets a one year contract with a phone upgrade? I wish I got that.I have a one year upgrade option but a t year contract that gets extended with every upgrade. The 300-500 is not worth the contract cancellation for me

True. But with all the bullsh*t that has came with this droid and having to take 5 phones to the post office to be shipped back (only to be refurb'd again and passed off to some other poor bastard)... a $200 ETF is like paying for the luxury of no longer putting up with AT&T. Every month another $20 less that I have to pay them, etc.
3 times warranty exchange of captivate for the sleep/charge death issue; and possibly account history.
As always, be soft, be patient, and be genuine.
I was told I could swap for a different phone in Dec last if the sleep death issue reoccurred (that was the 4th exchange in all -- once a battery and 3 times phone exchange).
Luckily, my captivate survived.
Im so tempted to just pay the ETF and jump to verizon.. its nice to see that att is getting some new android phones. Even though the htc phone has the lowest specs its so tempting because it will have aosp and 2.3 before the new samsung phone.....and unless motorola goes with an unlocked bootloader they will be in the same boat. Hardware specs don't mean much if the software isn't there

Early upgrade pricing is $300 and most everyone will qualify for that. Sell your Captivate for $250-$300 on Craigslist and be done with it. It will be hard to get them to swap it. I tried.

The Inspire is available for $400 with no contract. I'd rather do that than pay $300 for an upgrade and be locked in for 2 more years.
Same boat.... random shutdowns, etc. On my 5th or 6th phone. I have device support center near my house, so swapping them out it easy, but irritating. When I called yesterday, they said I could swap it for an Inspire, but only when the warranty center received refurbished units, which could take 30-90 days. I doubt it will take that long. I do not see them issuing new Inspires to anybody with a problem at 31+ days. I would have to guess they will have refurbs within 30 days, but who knows. Anybody know how long it takes for AT&T to start getting refurbs?
I'm also curious to know if i can do this. I bought a Captivate refurbished, and already got a replacement because of random shut down issues. Maybe i'll give AT&T a call tomorrow and see what I can do, anyone think people interested in this idea have a decent chance as long as we're reasonable to the AT&T rep we speak to?
Tried. Didn't work : /
It's good to know I'm not the only person thinking about the trade out, seeing as how the Inspire 4G is marked monetarily lower than the Captivate but of the same calibur I'm sure that it will be a refurb option really soon. The only thing I dread about going through the warranty process is initially getting back Captivate refurbs that have bigger issues than mine over and over again until AT&T finally gives in and lets me choose another phone of the same calibur which is why I haven't sent mine in for the GPS, media scan of dread and shutdown while charging/rebooting troubles but now that they are becoming more frequent that it's becoming unbearable.
Buying an Inspire straight out or having AT&T extend my contract for another year isn't an option I'm willing to take, that would get me stuck with an inspire until spring 2012 at the least - no thanks I saw what became of the Aria.
The simple fact is the the issues with this phone should have been addressed and resolved a long time ago and we shouldn't have to put on a custom rom to get it to a state that it should have been that way out the box, custom roms should be for fun and enhancements to an already good product not band aids to fix flaws that the manufacturer or carrier wont acknowledge and respond to.
Hopefully in a few weeks once people start going through the Inspire's the option to choose a refurbished Inspire 4G as a swap for a Captivate will become available, either that or the official 2.2 comes out then I'll stick with the captivate until summer, after that AT&T better come correct with the android updates and some stunning hardware or I'll be jumping ship to T-Mobile.
Wow, I didn't realize the captivate was having so many issues...5th and 6th phones? My god.
I got my phone in August and its running like a champ with Darky 9.2.

it's true. granted, i've only gone through one phone, but i did have the random shutdown problem, and at first i wasn't bothered by it. it quickly became the most annoying problem ever by occurring more frequently.
I am still skeptical about the whole 4G network with AT&T especially being such crappy coverage service already with their supposed upgraded 3G network. If they said they finally completed their 3G network upgrade and provide this kind of horrible coverage quality, I can't even begin to imagine how their supposed 4G network speeds are as well as the coverage it will support. If i was to get a 4G AT&T phone, I would wait at least half a year to a year to really see how they push their network out onto the market.
I talked to an AT&T rep last night and I think I am goinh to jack the upgrade on one of my kids' line and get the Inspire 4G. I got it for my wife and it was the bomb.
The rep told me the exception upgrade for the Inspire is 199.
I originally posted this in the Inspire 4g General forum:
_________________________________________________________________
I bought the Captivate day 1 in June after all the hype only to be disappointed like many users. I called AT&T customer service about an hour ago and was online with a rep within 10 minutes. I very calmly explained my issues with the Captivate (GPS, rebooting randomly) and asked to be given an early upgrade. Without so much as a question the rep told me he would approve it through his supervisor. It took me less than 30 minutes to have a full upgrade ready whenever I want to use it. That will be in about an hour when I go pick up the Inspire.
TL;DR: If you want to upgrade from your Captivate but stay with AT&T, it is trivially easy to get the full upgrade price.

Also, the OP says that the Inspire has a front-facing camera, but it does not. Just FYI.
I did it. Love it. Such a better out of the box experience.

exchange question

ok so i just switched to att after being with sprint for 8yrs and got the htc inspire at first when i recieved the phone i really didnt like it so i went to the att store and got it exchanged for the atrix 2 while the phone has some potential was wondering if i would be able to exchange it for something else or if i would have to eat the cost and buy another one off contract if i decided to switch? sprint did the exchange within 30 days also but you could only do it once per phone.
AT&T should let you exchange it again with a $35 fee within 30 days.

Exchanged my AT&T One X today, the difference is night and day!

I have been posting here a little since getting my HTC One X (S4), mostly a little negative as I had been having bad battery and mostly bad reception (which lead to bad battery). I got it on 5/6 and even had the SIM card replaced thinking that was the issue. Data speeds were horrible (I'm in a "4g" area only, no LTE) and would be lucky if I got 1Mbps.
So today I went to Radio Shack and got it replaced. Holy Cow! I just got 3.75Mbps at home, where the most I ever got was just over 1Mbps on the defective one. Went to the gas station, speeds were still great and even in the movie theater I got a solid 2Mbps. My big test will be tonight to see if it still switches to EDGE at night as the old one always did.
TL;DR: If you think you have a defective unit with bad reception/battery, go replace it! And keep replacing it until you're satisfied!

Couldn't you guys who got it from AT&T return it and get it from somewhere else?
I'm not sure how that return policy works, like do you get your "upgrade" back if you return the phone? Couldn't you then just keep returning phones every 29 days and always have the latest and greatest? lol

clearly there are some devices out there with issues. Glad you were able to get yours replaced and are humming along. Now you need to get to an LTE are to see what speeds you get.

Problem is that they're greedy and want restocking fee regardless of exchange or return. So now it doesn't make sense to exchange. Return it and buy the other one.
It's not being sneaky or cheap. ATT just has a greedy, bad business practice.
Bought a 3gs and exchanged it for the HOX. HOX was bad took it back literally a day or two later. They said too bad. No exchange. I had to go through warranty repair. HTC was shocked that my phone was purchased days before and they sent me to them for an exchange instead of doing so in store.
Auto sales aren't even done that way anymore. Worst part was the store manager was giving me the whole ATT did me a courtesy speech for allowing the first exchange. What courtesy? I paid $35, got a different phone and it was defective and you told me to bad, talk to HTC.
While I'm on a roll I might as well keep going. Another issue I ran into during this ordeal was that I needed to return to the original place of purchase...what difference does it make if it was a corp. store?
Done with my rant...Sorry

wow, you have every right to rant after an experience like that! I'm sorry you got treated that way. Just to set the record straight, though, that's absolutely NOT company policy for AT&T corporate-owned stores. Since your One X was DOA, you should not have to pay a restocking fee. I worked for AT&T Retail until a couple weeks ago, and we wouldn't have done that... sounds like you ran up against greedy, bad people.
Oh yeah, and it doesn't master where you return it. As long as it's a corporate store. Are you sure the second place wasn't an authorized retailer? Either that, or they only had one or two left in stock.
Sent from my HTC One X
When dealing with att, its always a good practice to deal with corporate stores only. And that is sometimes hard to tell the difference...99% of the corporate stores will do the right thing..when buying phones I use best buy because they are usually a little cheaper but more so that they offer a $0 deductible warranty and a $30 buyback program where they offer you at least $125 in 2 Yeats towards purchase of new phone..can trade before 2 years and get even bigger credit towards new phone..$125 is just the least you will get...well worth the $30 l. Just my 2 cents..

The day I got it, I looked at mine and said...whoa.
The camera bezel isn't flush with the phone.
I'm NOT DUMB. I know it sticks out. - that's what the guy at AT&T said to me...what an idiot...
I mean like...where the bezel is set into the device, it sticks out a little.
Not to mention, I unlocked the device this morning to notice that the backlight of the recent apps button? Doesn't work anymore.
Needless to say, I emailed them about a possibly warranty replacement.
I LOVE the device - it's amazing! But...I don't think I can live with that when I paid for it outright...

whoa! that's crazy! I got mine at radio shack and they did tell me that I was "suppose" to go back to the store I bought it at, but that was 250 miles away so she did it anyways. but the craziest part was that I actually got about 20 bucks back because the price of the phone had gone down. I paid no restocking fee either. based on all the stories I don't think I'll ever buy straight from att.
