Hey guys,
I'm getting impatient with the release of 6.5 in Australia, so when looking into performing the HARD SPL for my device, what I could find was the details for 1.17 and 1.19.
But my device when I goi in to the tri colour screen is
Code:
MAPL130
SPL - 1.22.0000
MicroP-Maple (LED) v6
ENGID 0x2
PCBID 0x80
PanelInfo 15-0x2
Any help would be great
Help
Hi, I am having the same issue. Splash screen on HTC Snap (Telstra) says SPL 1.22 and I cannot HardSPL with Jocky's 1.17 and 1.19.
I need to hardSPL my unit so I can use other roms. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
I am looking to buy this on Telstra myself so would be interested to see this happen - running a generic 6.5 ROM would be cool..... I used to have a Touch Pro so am familiar with flashing the ROM etc but it seems the community is a little smaller for Windows Smartphones.
From the demo I played with at T Life the Telstra branding did not seem that bad (not on shortcuts or anything annoying like that) - just a Bigpond link when scrolling on the homepage. I really liked the trackball too.... will have to think about whether I want to join the dark side (Telstra ) tonight....
I actually find the Telstra Branding really annoying as I can't remove the pre installed programs either such as Foxtel.
So please save me from a 6.5 Telstra Branded Phone!

Isn't that just a shortcut icon in the menus? What other branding is there? I want to get one tomorrow but not if branding is that bad

Yeah once you have changed the default home screen, they only appear in the menu, but I find it annoying when you need to scroll through them to get to what you actually want to.
But I still would love some help with my problem. As I can't seem to find a solution.
Thanks for that. Hopefully somebody can help us Telstra version folk out

Wait for a new HardSPL, that's your only option. It seems that HTC has been busy locking down the base even more. SPL 1.2x also is preventing devices that did successfuly HardSPL from running the new rom upgrades. My hunch is that we'll be seeing a HardSPL 1.24 soon.

Ok then!
Hope you are right!
I think the newer radio version prevents the sspl (jumpspl) from loading, because the radio writeprotects the required memory area. I will develop a test to verify that.
Will Wait
Hi Jocky, waiting eagerly for this. Hopefully we will be able to unlock our devices and use other great roms.
Any updates on this
Asian 6.5 rom also released. Any updates on HardSPL our 1.22 Telstra phones? Cant wait to try new roms.

lol, yeah, you are right! Just got my S521 with the new WM6.5 and it has SPL in version 1.24 flashed...
That's a shame cause I wanted to use a custom ROM since I don't like the HTC modified versions, not on the snap nor on other WM devices. It's just a piece of buggy software that tries to present some eye candy without function. Don't get me wrong, I love eye candy! Therefore I love the new WM6.5.1 Prof. from MS without HTC modifications... but I am getting distracted...
Is there a way to get a custom ROM on my SPL 1.24 Snap or do I have to wait for a hard SPL based on version 1.24?
Thanks!

Not sure if it's the radio, maybe. I have a Telstra SNAP and the only way I could bypass it's locks was to use a Goldcard and flash the TMO ROM. Then I could HardSPL it. Seems the Telstra SNAP is heavily security, registry, and software locked. I wasn't able to unlock it without reflashing it.
I'm curious to see if HardSPL 1.24 will allow flashing of the WM 6.5 ROM from HTC.

Oh! Me too! Are you planning to have your newest ROM available for 1.24 SPL if it is possible to flash? Would be great if that works!
Hard or Jump SPL flash?
Thanks for the effort! Looking forward to your new ROM!!

Hi! I have spl 1.24.00
I tried to flash the 6.5 rom Build 3VO.2.00.101009, the flash is ok. But after the flash, i had a big problem: if I only reboot the phone, without turn it off, the phone restarts succesfully, but if I turn off the phone, when I turn it on again the phone boots, the w6.5 splash appears, and when the versions indications appear, the phone reboot, and so on.
I had to downgrade to WM 6.5 htc original.
I don't know if this problem depends from the spl or not
Could you help me?
Thank you
Nick

Hello, I really would like to know about this, I have a T-Mobile MDA (USA) running WM 5 version 2.26.10.2 WWE. I downloaded this from the T-Mobile website and updated my phone. I would like WM 6 on my MDA but i have no clue on how to do it. So if someone could please help me to do that i would really appreciate it. Also i would like to know some of the advantages and disadvantages (if any) of upgrading to WM 6. I'm a complete noob to any of this so any help is appreciated.

Start reading the forums. Everything you need is found here. Best bet is to take time and read the stickies at the top of this forum and the Wizard Upgrading forum. Those will tell you the step by step instructions on doing all of this. But understand, this isn't just a simple application install, but an OS Install (and not one supported by your provider). So for most roms you will have to figure out how to setup GPRS and MMS to get them to work. So don't rush into this, but spend some time reading and learning (or you may wind up with a dead phone).
A really good post with tons of pointers to stuff is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1206964&postcount=894
Hats off to Carlosdude1991 for putting that together.
Thanks for the quick response, ive been reading up a little and so far it seems like the WM 6 Roms run faster than the originals, i have also learned that i have a G3 Device. Anyway im going to unlock my device and install WM 6 but i dont really know which ROM to get. Which is the best WM 6 ROM?

Ok, then start here and follow everything without skipping steps.

As for WM6, you'll have to decide what you really want. If you want a fully loaded rom, then try Faria's "the real thing". For a "clean" rom try NotTooSmart or Xplore 1.1. Also Zoki's NBD is getting good reviews (I haven't tried it).
The beta of Faria's Vanilla is going VERY well and will be a great rom when its released (watch for it soon).
Good luck and have fun.
I have another question though before i do that, after i get WM6 will everything work again like it used to, like phone, text and sms, camera, programs etc.?
yes they will, you will have to enter in the correct settings for T-mobile mms
I think this is my last question (actually last 2), On the guide it says to downgrade to T-Mobile 2.26 ROM, what does it mean by that, does it mean that I should install buttons 1.05 ROM and do the whole process and then install the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM which is the one I'm running right now? and wouldnt that re-lock my phone? and my second question is about how long would it take to go from an official T-mobile 2.26.10.2 ROM, Locked phone. to a WM6 unlocked everything working phone?
BTW thanks for all the quick responses and help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
Go to that thread and follow those directions. You have to use the lokiwiz to cid unlock your rom before you can add custom roms. Cid unlocking voids your warranty btw. That form is straight forward and works like a charm just do exactly what it says word for word.
I read it through a couple of times now, but i just don't get the part at the end where it says install the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM. I have that right now and wouldnt that just re-lock the phone? Also how do i Downgrade to the Button 1.05 ROM?
Alright, I understand where your coming from, I was in your shoes. lokiwiz will not work with 2.26. Therefore you have to downgrade your rom to 1.05( I used 1.8 because I couldnt find 1.5 and it still worked) Once you downgrade your rom then you can use lokiwiz to Cid unlock your phone. adding 2.26 after your cid unlock your phone will not lock it again given that you did everything correctly. 2.26 is a solid and steady base rom to use that doesnt have any bugs or anything. once this is all done you can put a wm6 rom on your wizard.
o ok i see, so i can download and install the 2.26 ROM from the T-Mobile USA website and it wont relock my phone, right? also "(i used 1.8 because i couldnt find 1.5 and it still worked)" you mean 1.05 right?

All this is correct, but let me stress... You have to get both IPL and SPL down to 1.xx or when you go back to 2.xx you may find your device isn't really CID Unlocked... So follow that thread. It tells you to do the button downgrade, then do lokiwiz, then you have to downgrade again if your SPL still hasn't changed. Once you get both to 1.xx, THEN you can go back to an official 2.xx rom (TMo 2.26 is the suggested one). THen as long as you stay on 2.xx and above, you will not have to the the 1.xx downgrade ever again. You will remain CID Unlocked during all your flashing adventures.
Thx for covering that.. I forgot about that one.. .. as for using 1.05 when i tried to click the link, I had trouble and had to search for a different 1.rom. checked the link today and it works again.. Would have saved some time and stress. lol
I have a question, when i reach the part right after downgrading to 1.05 ROM and i click enablerapi do i install it to anywhere or just click it then run the lokiwiz.bat on the computer?
Install to the C Drive I believe

alright i have succesfully installed WM6 " the real thing" but now i cant make any SMS messages? how can i fix this, i know you have to change the address or something but i have no clue where to go so i can do that. You can't do SMS and MMS because you haven't set that stuff up yet apparently. EIther go to the T-Mo site and find the settings to plug into your phone, or search around here for the cabs for T-Mobile (I'm on Cingular so I don't have the T-Mo cabs to post)
G is straight GPRS. E is Edge (faster). I think the default TMo and Cingular stock roms turn this off from switching (so they always just show E). So now you are seeing when you are connected to the better net (but a lot of people don't care for that. again there is a cab around to turn that off)
Congrats on upgrading successfully.

Hi everyone. I've just got hold of the vodafone version of the HTC VOX and will be unlocking it via the imei unlock website shortly.
I've been reading through the posts here and I can find the DOPOD rom, which seems ok but not sure if there is an HTC version. From what I can see the DOPOD is really HTC but more aimed at the Asian market.
So is there an HTC version of this ROM available yet and where can it be found?
Does anyone have any info or screen shots of what the apps and features of the DOPOD rom actually are? The reason is that Vodafones versions seem ok but I am interested to know what the other brands add in or leave out?
Look forward to hearing from you all....
Some people dumped their ROM, but at the moment there is no tested/proven method to flash these dumps. I'm not aware of any official ROM update from HTC for the unbranded HTC S710. Once you have unlocked your Vox, and with unlock I mean "CID unlocked" which means you can flash any ROM (not just your provider's branded version), and once there is an official HTC ROM update available, you are able to flash it.
Keep an eye on my "Vox bootloader" thread here, because it deals with those subjects CID unlocking, dumping and flashing ROMs.
Update
Apparently there are official ROM updates available. See"
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Vox/rom/
There's a test version as well. Whatever it is ...
Thanks for the reply and info. I like the page you've set-up and will be monitoring it for more updates.
Think I'll try the DOPOD rom as this vodafone version is just damn annoying with all there network settings plastered all over it (as you'd expect!).
Always like the more generic roms so will give it a go....
Super quick Q
If i get my device (HTC Vox) unlocked from Imei-check.co.uk, that means (removes SIM/NETWORK LOCK - use any provider, removes CID lock - flash any firmware)
So please confirm that since it is CID unlocked, i can flash ANY vox firmware (i love the look of Dr. Gonzo's)
I apologise for being a bit apprehensive, but i just bricked my SPV M600 (Aka HTC Prophet)! lol
R.I.P Beautiful Prophet!
Yes. You can use any ROM once it is CID unlocked, however you do not need to pay for this service, you can use the Vox USPL to patch SPL to allow unsigned ROM to be flashed.
The only benefit to services like imei-check are permanent SuperCID and removing the SIM/SP lock.
Hi,
I purchased my TYTN-II from UK as sim free in Oct-07. From the last five months i was under the impression that HARDSPL is very much necessary for flashing. Though i never tried to HARDSPL my unit. Last month there was RUU upgrade from HTC e-club. Since it was from HTC and there was no special instruction before running RUU. So i run the RUU directly and my unit was successfully upgraded to WM 6.1.
After that i realised that 6.1 is not stable. So, with the help of the forum ... i downloaded the WM 6 shiped RUU from the forum and run directly and again my device accepted the WM6.
Now, i am confused that how this happened ? am i not suppose to HardSPL my device before flashing specially at downgrading level ?
OR since my device is SIM Free / Unlocked thats why it doesn't need HardSPL ?
I am just trying to educate myself nothing else ...
Regards
i believe that u still need to hard spl the right spl for that rom u installed...the spls are stickied in this forum
admins = plz shut this thread down...
I always thought it was normal for sim free phones.
I could just be thick. But I thought it was due to networks and simlocks that people had to HardSPL.
So its just for cooked ROMs. I get it now. So you flashed a HTC ROM on a HTC device. Which would have flashed the correct SPL anyway.
Hard SPL's allow you to flash cooked roms safely without bricking the device. Since you flashed an official rom from HTC you wouldn't require a modded SPL
There are different hard spl's for wm6.1 thats all. To be honest you are normally safer just to hardspl anyway. Back in the day, if you hadnt hard spl'd your phone and you bricked it, it was basically impossible to fix. Not sure these days on the kaiser, i have never tried not hard spl'ing mine so i couldnt say.
OEM SPL does NOT allow you to downgrade even if the ROM fits your device. I don't know why you not taking HardSPL, if you worry about the warranty, just go ahead to flash ROM with HardSPL, then flash OEM SPL back after it.
if you device is from HTC and not locked to a provider you can flash roms from HTC-E club BUT!!! your phone is not truly safe HardSPL is like a condom for your kaiser if something happens lets say the USB plug comes out while flashing NOT having HardSPL you might have an issue BUT you probably WILL... Just do yourself a favor and flash HardSPL you can always revert back to the shipped SPL if you need to for a warranty return......

Hi Community,
my mda vario III (HTC Kaiser) is an waranty case and i badly need the original rom incl all, this one in the forum is only the OS without radio spl and so on.
best regards
HT
I also needed it, bust just installed the OS and a working Radio.
T-Mobile does not even care what is installed, i guess they don't even startup the device but send it straight back to HTC. I switched about 20 T-Mobile HTC Devices and it worked everytime to just install the OS and a working Radio.
If you know the Radio and OEM SPL version you can probably get them from this site somewhere. They dont have to be extracted from the Dumped Shipped ROM.

Hi,
I have problem in locking GPS after upgrading to WM6.1 from HTC. I stay in Singapore.
I read many threads and understand GPS locking problem could be due to Radio version and also different Radio version for different countries.... I'm confused and have no confident in proceed further as I also read a lot of problem in flashing ROM. I thought you don't need to have hardSPL to flash radio since all the radios are official releases? Besides all Singapore cellphones are unlocked.
Can some experts confirm this?
If it's alright to flash then I'll recommend KAIS_RADIO_ONLY_1.71.09.01
The GPS locks under 10 secs. Fastest I lock I got was about 2.5 secs
Reception is also very good

No. I mod everything lah.
But if you have the need to send in for repair within the warranty period can still flash back to the official one and return it. Flashing it back to the official rom is the easiest part cos only need 1 file and run once

I'm green la, no experiences, since we are kakilang, need your advice:-
a) Do you have battery sucking problem?
b) You run HSPL, you got white screen or tri-color problem? did you run JumpSPL?
c) You use HSPL3.29? Tried HSPL3.56?
d) Flash back to official rom is by only one file? which is it?
Sorry to ask so many question. Surely you can answer la. Wait for it
Thanks.

I don't understand where people get the idea that an unlocked phone will allow you to flash any ROM or radio to your phone... An unlocked phone is only "carrier unlocked". This means you can switch your sim card for another companies' sim card and use their service. You will still have to mod your phone to change the software (ie. HardSPL). This does not matter where you may live. Places like Europe have laws in most areas that restrict companies from selling carrier locked phones but not phones with locked software. I hate that here in North America we have carrier locked phones. If I bought a phone for $600 or more and decided to switch carriers, I would be forced to change phones and toss my old phone. It is different if you were to switch from TDMA/CDMA to GSM as not all phones can connect to both systems, but staying on the same system we still get kicked in "the junk" and are forced to buy a new contract and phone. That is why I hate locked phones.
