HTC ROM or DOPOD ROM? - HTC Vox

Hi everyone. I've just got hold of the vodafone version of the HTC VOX and will be unlocking it via the imei unlock website shortly.
I've been reading through the posts here and I can find the DOPOD rom, which seems ok but not sure if there is an HTC version. From what I can see the DOPOD is really HTC but more aimed at the Asian market.
So is there an HTC version of this ROM available yet and where can it be found?
Does anyone have any info or screen shots of what the apps and features of the DOPOD rom actually are? The reason is that Vodafones versions seem ok but I am interested to know what the other brands add in or leave out?
Look forward to hearing from you all....

Some people dumped their ROM, but at the moment there is no tested/proven method to flash these dumps. I'm not aware of any official ROM update from HTC for the unbranded HTC S710. Once you have unlocked your Vox, and with unlock I mean "CID unlocked" which means you can flash any ROM (not just your provider's branded version), and once there is an official HTC ROM update available, you are able to flash it.
Keep an eye on my "Vox bootloader" thread here, because it deals with those subjects CID unlocking, dumping and flashing ROMs.
Update
Apparently there are official ROM updates available. See"
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Vox/rom/
There's a test version as well. Whatever it is ...

Thanks for the reply and info. I like the page you've set-up and will be monitoring it for more updates.
Think I'll try the DOPOD rom as this vodafone version is just damn annoying with all there network settings plastered all over it (as you'd expect!).
Always like the more generic roms so will give it a go....

Super quick Q
If i get my device (HTC Vox) unlocked from Imei-check.co.uk, that means (removes SIM/NETWORK LOCK - use any provider, removes CID lock - flash any firmware)
So please confirm that since it is CID unlocked, i can flash ANY vox firmware (i love the look of Dr. Gonzo's)
I apologise for being a bit apprehensive, but i just bricked my SPV M600 (Aka HTC Prophet)! lol
R.I.P Beautiful Prophet!

Yes. You can use any ROM once it is CID unlocked, however you do not need to pay for this service, you can use the Vox USPL to patch SPL to allow unsigned ROM to be flashed.
The only benefit to services like imei-check are permanent SuperCID and removing the SIM/SP lock.

Orange Branded Kaiser to Official HTC Rom

I am getting an Orange branded Kaiser next week and will want to revert it to the official HTC Rom, I have never done anything like this so am a bit green. I have downloaded the file RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.rar
Can any one tell me if this is the official English version of the HTC rom and also is all I have to is follow the idiots guide in the other thread on this forum.
I'd recommend you ask orange for the sim unlock code before attempting this.
Unless you're happy to flash your phone and be unable to use *any* (including oranges) sim in it.

is it the same for T-Mobile? Had a HTC TYTN and now a T-Mobile Vario III and prefer to have the HTC rom because I cannot get the Windos live to auto sync / as messages arrive post a SR ever
Cheers

Your fine to upgrade as long as you don't touch the radio portion of the Rom.
HardSPL your phone, then decompile the HTC rom and create a new rom using only the OS portion. then install using Pofs custome RUU installer.
Cheers
I held back on changing my Orange UK ROM for the same sim-lock reasons. However I simply used HardSPL first & then flashed my phone with the Sleuth ROM as it doesn't touch the radio & therefore bypasses the sim-lock issue.
Am now very happy and de-oranged.

Apologies in advances for the noobness of this question. I have an Orange Tytn II and would like to use it on O2. I've been using the phone for calls, so it's unlocked. I've got Internet settings for the O2 Stellar from O2 and entered them but it still won't connect making it rather useless to me.
From reading it seems to by because the radio is locked to Orange? CID locked? is that right?
I've successfully run the HardSPL, which I understand will now enable me to install other ROMs. What I'm not clear on is if I do this if I will permanently SIMlock the Orange phone or if the HardSPL gets round this problem and I'll be safe to put on another ROM and so letting me get online and 'deOrangig the phone'.
I've read that I can put on a ROM as long as it doens't touch the radio. But does this releveant only if you want to stay on Orange? Will it let you use another network SIM? And which ROM would that be anyway.
Bit confused as you can see. Any help appreciated.

thanks for the reply
it seems that i should be able to do as a normal upgrade with no need to worry about CID and having to run hard_spl if its the official HTC one. Does that mean that any region rom will work as long as its from their website?
complete noobie as you can tell!!!

If your flashing a HTC Rom onto a HTC branded device, you shouldn't need to worry about HardSPL or CID.
HardSPL is a new bootloader that allows you to flash ROM's with a different CID (Carrier ID). If you are flashing one from the same carrier it shouldn't be a problem.
You should only need to do this if you are flashing a Cooked ROM by one of the Chef's on this site.
I think all the above is right...
Can someone please confirm my understanding of this is correct?

Dave
I believe you'd get an "Invalid Region" error if you tried to flash a WWE Rom to a Chinese Language device? I could easily be wrong though - I've never tried it...
I'd Hard SPL and CID unlock before flashing any Rom's anyway - Official or otherwise (but that's just me).

Now you say that, I would always HardSPL before flashing, just in Case.
I've unlocked everything on my device.

Thanks for the quick response.
Guess I'll do the hard_spl way.
Thanks again

Help Needed...SPL 1.22

Hey guys,
I'm getting impatient with the release of 6.5 in Australia, so when looking into performing the HARD SPL for my device, what I could find was the details for 1.17 and 1.19.
But my device when I goi in to the tri colour screen is
Code:
MAPL130
SPL - 1.22.0000
MicroP-Maple (LED) v6
ENGID 0x2
PCBID 0x80
PanelInfo 15-0x2
Any help would be great
Help
Hi, I am having the same issue. Splash screen on HTC Snap (Telstra) says SPL 1.22 and I cannot HardSPL with Jocky's 1.17 and 1.19.
I need to hardSPL my unit so I can use other roms. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
I am looking to buy this on Telstra myself so would be interested to see this happen - running a generic 6.5 ROM would be cool..... I used to have a Touch Pro so am familiar with flashing the ROM etc but it seems the community is a little smaller for Windows Smartphones.
From the demo I played with at T Life the Telstra branding did not seem that bad (not on shortcuts or anything annoying like that) - just a Bigpond link when scrolling on the homepage. I really liked the trackball too.... will have to think about whether I want to join the dark side (Telstra ) tonight....
I actually find the Telstra Branding really annoying as I can't remove the pre installed programs either such as Foxtel.
So please save me from a 6.5 Telstra Branded Phone!

Isn't that just a shortcut icon in the menus? What other branding is there? I want to get one tomorrow but not if branding is that bad

Yeah once you have changed the default home screen, they only appear in the menu, but I find it annoying when you need to scroll through them to get to what you actually want to.
But I still would love some help with my problem. As I can't seem to find a solution.
Thanks for that. Hopefully somebody can help us Telstra version folk out

Wait for a new HardSPL, that's your only option. It seems that HTC has been busy locking down the base even more. SPL 1.2x also is preventing devices that did successfuly HardSPL from running the new rom upgrades. My hunch is that we'll be seeing a HardSPL 1.24 soon.

Ok then!
Hope you are right!
I think the newer radio version prevents the sspl (jumpspl) from loading, because the radio writeprotects the required memory area. I will develop a test to verify that.
Will Wait
Hi Jocky, waiting eagerly for this. Hopefully we will be able to unlock our devices and use other great roms.
Any updates on this
Asian 6.5 rom also released. Any updates on HardSPL our 1.22 Telstra phones? Cant wait to try new roms.

lol, yeah, you are right! Just got my S521 with the new WM6.5 and it has SPL in version 1.24 flashed...
That's a shame cause I wanted to use a custom ROM since I don't like the HTC modified versions, not on the snap nor on other WM devices. It's just a piece of buggy software that tries to present some eye candy without function. Don't get me wrong, I love eye candy! Therefore I love the new WM6.5.1 Prof. from MS without HTC modifications... but I am getting distracted...
Is there a way to get a custom ROM on my SPL 1.24 Snap or do I have to wait for a hard SPL based on version 1.24?
Thanks!

Not sure if it's the radio, maybe. I have a Telstra SNAP and the only way I could bypass it's locks was to use a Goldcard and flash the TMO ROM. Then I could HardSPL it. Seems the Telstra SNAP is heavily security, registry, and software locked. I wasn't able to unlock it without reflashing it.
I'm curious to see if HardSPL 1.24 will allow flashing of the WM 6.5 ROM from HTC.

Oh! Me too! Are you planning to have your newest ROM available for 1.24 SPL if it is possible to flash? Would be great if that works!
Hard or Jump SPL flash?
Thanks for the effort! Looking forward to your new ROM!!

Hi! I have spl 1.24.00
I tried to flash the 6.5 rom Build 3VO.2.00.101009, the flash is ok. But after the flash, i had a big problem: if I only reboot the phone, without turn it off, the phone restarts succesfully, but if I turn off the phone, when I turn it on again the phone boots, the w6.5 splash appears, and when the versions indications appear, the phone reboot, and so on.
I had to downgrade to WM 6.5 htc original.
I don't know if this problem depends from the spl or not
Could you help me?
Thank you
Nick

[Q] Debranding HTC wildfire - help by answering few questions

Hello. First of all i am sorry if my questions are answered somewhere in this forum, but i have read a lot of threads and your wiki page, but i am still pretty much confused.
I'm trying to explain to myself the boot process of an Android device and the most important thing i want to ask is: are all these so called "roms" (the OS rom, the ExtROM, radio/gsm rom) on the read only memory (ROM) of the phone?
I know that the boot rom is hardwired in the CPU of the phone and when the phone is turned on this hardwired boot rom points to the first stage of the boot loader (which is a program like grub or syslinux?).
I'm going to buy a HTC Wildfire probably from Vodafone UK and as far as i know it's gonna be with their own version of Android. So i assume that the phone will be CID locked and SIM locked. Can i flash the phone using RUU WWE rom from shipped-roms.com ( is this a trusted site? ) without trying to CID unlock it? I haven't read much about CID unlocking so forgive me.
If i flash it with new RUU WWE froyo + radio rom from the web site mentioned will i have to SIM unlock it after?
If i make my phone s-off and then flash it with shipped rom which updates the radio as well will it become s-on again since i've read somewhere that the security modules like this s-on/off reside in the radio rom?
Will i need Gold Card and what is it for?

[Q] Rebrand Desire S with ICS wwe from HTCDEV

Dear all,
I am in the middle of the bridge and don't know where to go...could you please give some help deciding what to do?
I have a Branded Desire S (Vodafone) with v2.3.5 lastest OTA update, and I would like to flash and try the ICS stock WWE from HTCDEV.
The simlock has already been removed, but the thing is can i flash this ICS update? do i need any goldcard or anything of the kind? Will the phone work ok? Or do i have to wait (maybe forever...) for the vodafone update? I reallly would like to unbrand the phone (the vodafone logo and other vodefone apps are really annoying...).
I think if this WWE update will go ok, when i received and warning about any vodafone update (because the serial indicates that this phone is a vodafone one) i have to ignore it and only apply only any WWE updates from HTCDEV, rather than that, i thing phone will work ok... but still i am worried about some things like :
- bricking phone with ICS update;
- some things don't work ok with this update because is a branded phone (i chat with HTC support and they told me that some guy complained about WIFI does not work after the ICS update, ... could it be possible, even if the hardware is the same from branded and unbranded phones?;
- possibility to go back to a 2.3.5 rom if i dont like for whatever reason of the ICS of its behavior on this phone; the HTC guy told me that only on the HTC assistance was possible to make it ... dont we just have to run the correct version of the ROM (by the way i don't know which is mine, could you please tell me? Because i seached on the HTCDEV for the right software number (2.10.168.3) and the file to download is a ".gz" file not a .exe one;
Other thing, does this ICS include a PTG (Portugal) language.
I will be forever grateful for all the help / hints you can give me.:good:
Thx in advance.
D_Saint
From what I've heard, the ics update has bugs, that can only be solved with root access. Flashing the ruu should work fine though, but you won't be able to downgrade without unlocking the bootloader to get root access.
For these reasons I would recommend making your phone s-off (see guides in the "general section), and installing a fixed version of the ics update, or whatever custom rom you want. Then you can still go back to the original state, if you want to.
I read somewhere on my downgrade guide that they have successfully debranded their phone using my guide.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
Ditto to above two comments, read, read and then soff rather than htcdev
Sywepd form my DsereiS
Thx for tips, Will soff erase contacts or apps? For root with soff how to flash su??? Is there any repaired / bugless ics stock?
