Question Hinge Dead Pixel / How to claim a warranty in United States - Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

Hello guys,
I've been using mix fold 2 for a month in United States. Bought it from Offer Up brand new. Today there is a big dead pixel and a white line appeared on the hinge. Also right by the dead pixel home button getting touches by itself randomly.
My question is does anybody know how to claim a warranty in English with Xiaomi. Does anybody have any experience with that since this is only a China phone?
Attached the photos of the dead pixel and the line.

Why don't you try the seller that you bought it from?
They usually offer at least 1 year of warranty...
Their English might be a tad better...

Bought it from Offerup. Already contacted the seller. He is just a person who bought only one item from China and sold it here in US. He is not a reseller. So I need to deal with Xiaomi directly. Tried their website to open warranty claim but no luck so far.

Any luck with this. I have a dead spot on mine where the crease is. I guess go back to the Fold 4

Unfortunately. Seems like you need to be in China to use warranty service of Xiaomi. Lesson learned. Now I understand why people choose Samsung or Apple over Mix Fold 2. Even mix fold 2 is a better phone overall.
Sales after support is very important. I switched to Apple Iphone 14 pro max. Never going back to Xiaomi to be honest.

I have to agree with you. Love this phone but the compramies are starting to get to me

You wouldn't be able to get warranty for our Xiaomi Fold 2 here in North America. The only way is to send it back to China to have it repair. But there will be risk on doing that. You can purchase an inner screen on Aliexpress. I dropped my phone and the front screen cracked. The front screen is like Cad$280 and the inner screen sells for Cad$770.50

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. I’m actually lucky. It wasn’t a dead pixel after all

Xiaomi official point of view regarding spare parts

I'm an owner of a Xiaomi Mi 4C and I have a problem with my display (got some nasty spots from heating probably) and I send an email to Xiaomi EU email adress asking them where from I can buy an original display for it. After more than a month with no answer from them, I forwarded the email to another Xiaomi support email adress and finally I have the answer here... This is the reason why this phone will be my last phone ever bought from a chinese manufacturer...
Xiaomi support answer https://imgur.com/qPawNdX
Sent from my Mi-4c using Tapatalk
i think it is pretty obvious that when you buy a phone from a reseller, and from outside your country, and also being that country China, it is obvious that you totally risk the warranty for getting a cheaper phone....
Also, if you didn't know, Xiaomi don't sell Mi4C outside of china, so for them you are not a client
Yup - when buying Chinese electronics outside of the supported market, there are risks. Those risks are greatly offset by the price.
If you still need a display, GearBest has been advertising OEM replacement assemblies for about 35- 40 bucks.

Boys and gurls,
I`m aware of everything you said up and I agree with that. But my main problem is that I just asked them to point me an ONLINE original spare parts seller so I can buy one ORIGINAL display. Thats all i asked from them. So noone from online stores are selling originals by their concept.

obviously xiaomi wont tell you to buy to a reseller, the same way samsung wont tell you to buy a replacement of battery or screen in aliexpress...
they don't sell officially spare parts, so the answer will be no or will be take the phone to our official SAT

Warranty or Damage protection?

Does anyone know if Lenovo or Lowe's offers any kind of insurance/damage protection? Square trade might but I don't know?

I thought I read somewhere that it was supposed to have a one year warranty, but when I added my phone to the Lenovo page, it claimed I had no warranty. I bought my phone from Lowes (online). The Lenovo phone rep claimed it was a glitch because their system isn't set up for phones, but they also couldn't look up my warranty to tell me how long it really was, so I'm not sure what to believe.
Square trade but it's a one time thing also make sure to get it right after getting the phone
Can you post link to Lenovo warranty register page?

I bought a square trade warranty for drops and spills, which also covers mechanical issues (if that's the right word), but I read somewhere our P2P has a 1 year manufacturers warranty, since it's sold in the states. According to Lenovo US Phab 2 Pro site http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/smartphones/phab-series/phab2-pro/ there is a warranty, but apparently you have to contact them for specifics.

There is a SquareTrade warranty with Drops and Spills... I couldn't get any kind of warranty for my Chinese Huawei Mediapad X2... SquareTrade said nope... They said only USA releases... I am thinking that I will get the SquareTrade with Drops and Spills. Something like a $99 deductible and maybe $150 a year... You need to have a receipt from a good USA retailer. I bought my Note 3 NEW on ebay a year or so after it was first released... SquareTrade would only give me a mechanical warranty... I bought my nephew a tablet that was manufactured with an inherent problem with the charging port. I got a 3-year Drops & Spills warranty on it. We are now on the THIRD brand - new tablet SquareTrade has sent us!!! The charging port goes bad and they apparently cannot fix it. I had no deductible and no shipping charges to or from! The only thing is that the tablet is no longer available and it took a LOOOONG time to get this last new one... I am going to demand money instead of a new tablet if it happens again!!!

I bought my square deal warranty for $79 for 1 year with $99 deductible. Use harvest20 as coupon/code at checkout for 20% off. At least that worked for me last Friday.

Thanks! I forgot about the 20% off... I have been getting emails from them about that and just automatically deleting them because I don't need a new warranty at this time... I am still waiting for the P2P to COME BACK!!! I WILL get the warranty ASAP after buying the phone... I figure I would be spending at least as much on a new phone without a warranty as I will on a P2P + WARRANTY...

you can buy extended warranty from lenovo. do a warranty lookup and use the phones serial #.

Cracked Front Glass

So I've had my Honor 8 for one month.
It took a tiny knock from the claw of a hammer whilst in my pocket and cracked diagonally across the screen.
The phone still works thankfully but the crack is unsightly. I'm still waiting for a quote on how much a repair is from the authorised service centre in the UK but I have a feeling it will be a lot (more than my insurance excess)! I don't really want to go through my insurance as I'm almost sure they'll offer me a different phone instead of the Honor 8 as it's exclusive to 3 here.
I've seen replacement glass available from China for around £4 but does anybody know how to replace just the front glass?
How is it attached to the phone etc?
Sorry for my off topic question... you had a case on it ?
There's Youtube videos of it being done. I have no electronics repair experience, so they looked a bit daunting to me. Fixing it yourself might void your warranty?

Now you say it's one month old but if it's not more than one month you may still be eligible for a free screen replacement:

This doesn't show what I'm trying to do, just replacing the Glass not the LCD or digitizer, they're both fine.
I'm okay doing a simple repair. Think my warranty is void already. After a week, I was caught in a rain storm and it suffered some water damage.

Is that valid for Honor products? I used the HiCare app within the first month but I'm not VIP.
If you register it you get three months cracked screen protection in the US at least.

Same within the UK for the VIP service for 3 months free which would cover screen damage and a lot more..

I can't find any info about that applying, in my HiCare app it has a grey VIP logo next to my email address and says Regular Membership underneath.
The website http://www.honorvipservice.co.uk/ doesn't work
I've just emailed them but I'm not expecting anything back. Honor UK support seems very lacking. They even have the wrong phone number on their website.
Just got the email from Huawei.
There is no VIP service for Honor 8.
Phone the service centre and it's £120 to replace a screen.
Think I'm gonna go slap a screen protector over it for now and use it until it fails.

Broken backside on Pixel 3XL

Hey guys.
It started with a Basssound, and then my Pixel 3XL fell off the windowsill....
Today i reached out the repairingcompany from google CTDI in Germany.
I hope the repair will not that expensive. (Hoping for about 200 € without VAT)
Now i'm waiting for the UPS Service who will pick up my phone.
Sorry about your device, was it in a case?
Nope it wasn't.
It was my fault, after all, i should not lay down a phone on a sloping windowsill....
https://www.ubreakifix.com/google-repair/google-pixel-3-xl-repair
Google's recommended vendor says back glass repair is $100 USD (88€)
Screen repair is where the big money is.
A dbrand or slickwraps will cover that up just fine!
Edit: too bad the camera's broken... That's going to add to the $$$.
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Oh 100$. I hope the price in europe is that cheap. Let's hope. Today i have still no message from ups.
I don't like covers, because they make phone big an hide the design from the phone itself. But of course i have then to watch for falling phones...
Actually the complete phone is working including the camera. It's just the broken camera glass that make photos look like from an 100$ Phone.
But i don't know if its from the drop or from december update, but there are lacks in the performance which is annoying at the moment. I will see after repairing if the problems are gone.
@MOD Is it possible to delete the strayed c in the title?

Ouch, those pictures literally made me say: "Ohhh, ouch!!" I'm sorry that happened to you... I am assuming you don't keep a case on it? After seeing lots of people complain about how easy it was to scratch the back up I decided to always keep mine in a case.
I wish you all the best and I hope it's not super expensive to get fixed.

I feel your pain...
Ordered mine on launch day and three days after having it I knocked it out of my hand, it was in a Spigen thin fit case which is really no protection. Completely my fault, I knew better than to hold it when I was doing what I was doing at the time.
Face first on a brick floor. Screen shattered, I'm glad I got the Preferred Care. $99.00 US and they shipped me a brand new one. At least I got to keep all the accessories from the first one and only had to send back the phone itself.

Nice! I always worry about being sent a refurbished device when they claim to send you a new one. I don't know if Google does that or not, but, I know other companies do and it's pretty frustrating. I have major OCD when it comes to new vs. not.
Good Luck!

The replacement was done through Asurion so they might send refurbished ones but I don't really think they had any at the time. I ordered it on launch day and broke it three days after I received it...lol.
I need to mention I haven't broken a phone in 10 years.

Oh yeah I've had it for a while now. This happened in October.
Late response
I have a case now. And it fits in my reworked brodit auto smarrtphone holder i bought for nexus 6p
The repairing was okay so far. i contacted CTDI in germany which organized a ups pick up and the device was repaired in poland by regenersis. It costs 212,08 € without tax and with tax 260,86 € (23% in poland)
So, i hope it will not broken anymore...

Volume button hanging loose

The volume button popped out suddenly, of my 3-month old device bought from the OnePlus US store.
Will OnePlus replace it since it is so early after purchase?
I came from Pixel and Google definitely did.

I had this problem around Christmas, happened right after I applied a screen protector. I doubt there's any connection. OnePlus refused to replace mine on the basis that I bought it second hand, which is fair enough. They'll probably sort you out.

You got it repaired on your own. Is it easily done? Cost?
I forgot to reply. Luckily my 3rd party vendor was lenient and swapped the device, but in the case of Oneplus, I can't say for certain but I'd expect that they honour your warranty.
