Question [CLOSED] Pixel 7 Pro OIS Rattle? - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hi XDA. I purchased a P7P back in early November and recently it took a little tumble off my desk. Instinctively, I shook it to see if anything came loose and to my dismay it rattled. Upon further research, I found that the OIS in this and many other devices with similar camera hardware have this tendency to rattle. Do all P7Ps have this trait or is it a lottery? Would it be worth an exchange or will the new device most likely have the same "feature"?
Thanks

They ALL rattle. It's mechanical, it moves around when shaken.

Ahhh good... I guess. lol. I wonder if it would be possible to make a mod that left the camera at 5x zoom and then reset to 1x when the camera app was launched. At 5x zoom the rattle goes away.
Thanks for your response!

[Completed] Manual Focus [lens + Adapter] for smartphone.

I dunno what it is, but this could be something new, you could call it
invention or innovation..or whatever.
but this idea came to me after a friend of mine got his new [Nikon D200]
Digital-SLR and started showing me some of his new clicked photos. they were
good, especially the Manual Focused ones. the Bokeh effect, and other
stuffs...
i kept wondering why doesn't a phone camera offers these features.
so, i got back to my home after that instance, and started reading and
binging about the Camera and it stuffs, a gathered a huge knowledge outta
the web all about the working of a camera.
meanwhile my smartphone was screen cracked (it had other problems earlier, so
i sent it to repair, but no use).
so i started experimenting my phone camera out, and that DSLR jealousy lead
me somewhere else.
ha ha..
my li'l sister used a playable laser projector, so i stole it from her and
took the lens out, it was 8-9mm lens with 16mm focal length (maybe).
i broke my camera lens, attached the 8mm lens, nothing worked.
i took out the focus hardware out (don't know what it actually is called as)
by rotating anti-clockwise..
and there was a 4mmx3mm sensor.
so i build a smartphone outta a carton board, sticking different shapes with
adhesives, and then attaching my lens into my smartphone..
and yeah it worked..
i clicked some pics, but....yeah it was just an alpha version..
then i took out a lens from a Point-&-Shoot camera and attached it to the
Case, with adhesive..
and then started the photography..
and the result were quite awesome.
.
if i can do it why cant you, but before that you have to be sure that you are definitely willing to do this....
.
i have uploaded some pics of the lens+adapter, and some pictures of my
friend, and some other stuffs i took using this......:good::good::good:

Where can I find support for hardware repair? Nokia 1520

I've got a Lumia 1520 with a shattered screen, the previous owner just trashed it and I've replaced the screen, it's a neat little phablet I wanted to keep.
Searching around the web I haven't found anywhere to ask questions regarding some specific bits of assembling the phone. The front camera flat cable got damaged with the impact. I'm not sure but I have never seen this design before, a flat cable soldered to the logic board? Makes nonsense!
I have ordered the replacement part so it's doable to replace this but I've no idea how, is this flat cable glued down? Soldered?
Sorry I'm asking this here but you guys from XDA already helped me so much silently crawling through the forums, it's one time I'd love some insight. Haven't found any phone specific repair forums that's active and the disassembly videos aren't useful at all since no one takes the front camera off.
Look here, pictures taken with a Z3.
If Dropbox asks for an account just ignore it or press ESC.
Thanks a lot!

Verizon V10 Marshmallow Update available now?

According to this link, Verizon has begun to release the Marshmallow upgrade for the V10. Can anyone confirm this?
http://www.lawyerherald.com/article...-6-0-marshmallow-update-t-mobile-expected.htm
I'm not seeing any (of what I consider) reputable sites/leakers that have confirmed. Most places say January/Feb. I have a hard time believing that VZW will be one of the 1st to release it... they usually take forever to release major OTAs compared to other carriers.
I read that article too... nothing yet for me though.
Interestingly, the article was poorly written. In it, they said, "The front camera wears a 16 MP lens, while the rear camera has a pair of lens, each has 5 MP. The fingerprint sensor can be found right on the front camera.."
Makes me wonder if it was an accurate article at all...

Totally agree, the grammar in the article was horrible. When I found the article, I was really excited hoping that Verizon threw us a bone. Then, I surfed other more reputable sites and not a peep about an upgrade. Also, it is my experience that Verizon is often a little slower than other carriers on major upgrades. Perhaps they are confused with the recent Marshmallow upgrade for the G3. At any rate, thought I'd check with others and see if they had received the update. Looks like we'll be waiting a little while longer.

front camera just awful or device defect?

I just bought the S7, and I noticed that the front camera is just bad.
It looks like the focus is off. it's so bad that it's even worst than my old S4 front camera.
here are examples:
imgur.com/a/bUcq2
the S4 are the left ones, and S7 are the right ones. at the S4, you can see each individual hair (on the eyebrows or the beard), but at the S7 everything is just blurry.
is my device defective, or it's just how the front camera functions on the S7?
I have seen many people reporting this issue, so I really wonder if returning the device and getting another one will do any good.
''so I really wonder if returning the device and getting another one will do any good.''
It won't

well...
I just don't get how this issue doesn't get more buzz. I mean, other people don't notice, or just don't care enough of selfies?
Also, I'm pretty sure there won't be any software fix for that - 6 months have passed since release.
So basically I bought a costly flagship phone with only rear camera- cuz the front camera is simply embarrassing, I cant use it.
There is a thread here on xda about this problem, but no one came up with a solution. Some said that models made in Vietnam (such as mine) have a bigger focus issues than those made in Korea. The problem is that focus on the front cam is set to infinity, so it doesn't focus close objects correctly. Some people went to samsung and got 3-4 new devices and all were having the same issue.
I think that it COULD be fixed with an software update, because I found people talking about it on various forums. But until that happens (I hope), try holding it 30-40cm away and it will be decent. Turn off beauty face aswell.

Severe lens flare on camera - prob. hardware related

On my small Pixel (black 128GB edition) I get severe lens flares in situations, that were never a problem for any smartphone before.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfz8YmHmeJ4 The video here illustrates the issue pretty well, several very well known people on YouTube + Twitter have encountered the exact same problem, including @MKBHD, @DetroitBORG and @superscientific !
I'd like to know if there are devices out there that don't have this problem. You won't see it in all lighting situations, but it's very pronounced in some - where it shouldn't be.
I have.noticed this today on my camera I attached a photo the halo or flair can be seen at the bottom the pale grey around the bottom left and right. Like you say, it's only in certain light conditions and certain angles. Must be the glass that surrounds the lense.
Looks like the the phone has been rushed out and not tested properly.
Two more photos
This is definitely a design floor as happens if the camera is on its sides, upside down and normal. Really didn't expect this from such a highly priced phone.
Some more photos from me:
I'm talking to support via the built in support. I'll let you know what they say.
I'm taking mine back to the carrier store in an hour. No way I'm going to accept this.
This is happening to me as well. Definitely a deal breaker, unless covering the glass with a case fixes the problem. It's a shame, because the camera blows everything else out of the water.
Been in contact with EE and they have said my handset is defective so they are sending me a new one tomorrow. Excellend support from them, Thought it would have been a pain in the arse

Well be prepared for disappointment. My phone has it too. I guarantee every Pixel does. Probably because of the subtle curve on the rear glass.

Yeah I'm not going to hold my breath, but the guy who done the video in the first post had two pixels and only one of them done.this. I'll just keep returning them until I get one that works
Google said they didn't know about this but they have forwarded the link to this thread and the YouTube video so they can investigate further.

Do you really believe they are going to eliminate the halo with that approach?
No way. It's a design flaw. The question is how does that digital picture site
give this phone such a high rating and they never saw this in any of their pictures?
This just doesn't add up. I am awaiting the XL to come back in stock to order
but this is a deal breaker for me unless this is a defect on a few phones.

DxOMark actually did mention the lens flare/halo if you read the entire review... they just call it something more technical.
Yes, I fully believe they will be able to correct for this issue, at least SOMEWHAT, in software. I think the question will be whether or not they can actually preserve detail in the area where the flare is occurring. Google has pulled off some amazing feats with this camera just because of its software... they're not going to claim to do something they can't do.

So you are saying this is on all Pixels? Not a defect of a few?

According to Google, yes. The lens assembly is subject to very tight manufacturing tolerances. Every Pixel is going to have this issue.
Got my new phone, and as stated above I still have the flair so I'm really.imterested into what Google can actually do. I'm off to the park with my dog layer so I'll take lots of photos and upload them here if they have any flare issues.
Don't accept this. Take it back to your point of sale. Get another phone. I am so ****ing done with this.
"We completely, retardedly screwed the entire design of our phone and will now make you use a certain camera mode to mitigate (not resolve) the issue in software"
None of you should accept this.
Out of maybe 100 photos I have taken with this phone, you can maybe see it in like 3-4 photos. Only really happens on my end if I am shooting directly into a light source which most photos are pointing away from a light source. It's not like every photo comes out like this.
I am very very happy with this phone and the camera.
