[ROM][4.4.4] Optimized CrDroid for Samsung Galaxy Y - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 Android Development

Hello! I was bored, so I optimized this rom.
Installation instructions:
Reboot to CWM/TWRP recovery
Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik
Flash the ROM, and if you are using the CM12 themed ROM's repartitioned build then feel free to install GApps.
After the installations done, reboot to system
Voila! You installed the ROM
What are the changes?
- Use Samurai kernel
- Add Adrenaline Engine, Broadcom booster, etc
- Delete out unused apps like:
Phone related things like SMS (RIL isn't working, so why do we need Telephony?)
DSP Manager
Terminal, and etc...
And what does work?
Everything, it has the same issues as CM11.
Can I repartition?
Yes, you can. I'll make a guide for it soon w/ video tutorial.
Where's the download link?
Here you go.

Wow! I'm glad to see that there's still movement (low, i see, but still) on the Galaxy Y community!
Galaxy Y is one of the most enjoyable phones I ever had - it is amazing the power we were able to extract from this tiny Broadcom low-storage device
I'm working on a video series about optimizing old devices for modern daily usage (as Android 2.3 doesn't support most of modern apps, while 4.4+ supports a lot more, like WhatsApp for instance).
I just ordered a Galaxy Y and I'll test your ROM and provide feedback as soon as i get it!
Thank you very much

thanks! i recommend trying out cm12 first, BUT YOU NEED TO REPARTITION. This means that you can get more storage .. And you can optimize the device for daily usage
It's hard to find a Y nowadays, where'd you find one?
Don't forget to link your channel so I can give you credits!

Hello, I have this Galaxy Y GT-S5360 that has been lying around for years.
Years ago I flashed it to Hyperion 9 so I believe it also has a very old cwm recovery...
Could you point me to a step by step guide for repartition and flashing this rom as well as the minimum requirement for the cwm/twrp recovery?
Thank you

Hello!
Here's the repartitioning instruction (you don't need to do it unless you really need gapps):
[ROM][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 12 Themed ROM for Samsung Galaxy Y
Hello! I was a little bit bored, so I made a CyanogenMod 12 likely ROM for this old device. If coming from stock rom/CM9/CM7/CM11: Check post #102 If coming from CM12 themed ROM's other build: Check post #114, this is the latest build. If...

BUT use the optimized crdroid's zip if you want to install this rom.

I bricked my phone (stuck at boot logo) right after installing twrp-3.0.2-1-totoro.
Further reading in twrp totoro thread I found out that this recovery is only for CM11 rom.
My bad, I did not read the whole thread before flashing.
Now I am still trying to solve this problem first

did you solve the problem?

Not yet....
It is really strange. When the phone is in download mode, odin can not detect. Odin can detect when it is off and charging. But when I tried to flash, it stuck in file analysis.
Now it seems I can not even enter download or recovery

I can not enter download or recovery any longer....
It is just boot looping

reboot to download mode again and plug in the cable before pressing vol up, do you use odin v3.07?

How to reboot to download? I can not enter download....

Vol down + home + power button, and if you did it right then a warning should pop up. Press Vol up after that and you should see an Android with "Downloading..."

Sorry for my late reply.
As shown in my first video, vol down + home + power button only gave me bootlop.

Rom manager = HARD brick (you should read a little bit here many people have Bricked their devices using ROM manager and we are not supposed to use it yet since its not supported for our device)
Go to Samsung guys now.. only they can do it
act like you don't know anything!
Try going into download mode. If you can't then you're facing a hard brick.
Go to samsung service center and act like a retard.
If you can, then just flash the stock ROM via ODIN

Hello! I may have a stupid question, but i must know... I know that doing a hard reset will delete almost all user files on my galaxy, like "//mnt/sdcard/..." and reset my settings of the firmware. Can i delete ALL files from my sg? I mean all from "//..." all from root directory. Just asking...What i acctualy want to know is if i delete all will i be able to go into download mode for flashing a new firmware after that? The reason for this is that i tested a lot of firmwares and custom roms and tiny bits and pieces still remain "hidden" thus i want to erase EVERYTHING! Gonna do it too...

I guess you cant hard reset if you cant boot up...
The only option which remains at this stage is going to Samsung centre
Dont be worried in the tiny bits of your ROM's act like a newbie who doesn't know android just say its not working.. if they ask what had happened say you were copying data or whatever and this happened.. act normal and calm..
I'm sure your device will be repaired (they'll change the motherboard in most cases) and be careful with your device next time
I briked my galaxy fit, because i installed a rom (via odin) that my telephone didn't support.
Try it!!!!, i could unbrick my galaxy fit!!:
1. Open Odin, select the OPS, and an official rom.
2. put out: sim, sd card, and the BATTERY
3. Connect the galaxy fit at the PC with the USB
4. Try open download mode (it won't run, but, you must press: Down Volume + Home + Power)
5. While you are pressing the buttons, if you can't, other person must put the battery.
6. Wait 5 seconds and... TA TAN!!!!... download mode turns on!!!!!!!!!
7. Now... you must press START in odin, and the rom will install in your galaxy fit.
I hope you can unbrick your galaxy fit!!
Sorry for my bad english. I speak spanish ^^
This means that you had a soft brick. In a soft brick, you can boot into download mode.
In a hard brick, you can do nothing.

Obviously, you can't do that when booted up.....
In recovery mode.... You can only format sdcard, data, system and cache.
IMO, it can't be done by any simple means.
and since that doesn't serve any purpose, I doubt anyone would resort to any complex methods to do that
hmm no....
anyways, i doubt that you can format the "/" partition using Root Explorer
give it a try
hehe.. i only post the answer of the first post, the person that has briked his phone.
i did that and my fit now runs correctly, and i have installed a lot of custom roms, with clockworkmod recovery
a lot of custom roms?
you can install only one at a time.

[Q] Brick forever or possibility to restore?

Good evening everyone.
I bought Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 GT-P6800 about month ago. It's been working fine, till this saturday. When i tried to unlock my Tab, device didn't respond. I tried to power it on, but still no response. Hm, the reason of this thing is only one - too low battery. So, i putted my device on charge (saw battery icon on screen). After 2 hours, I came back and tried to power my device again, but it freezed with this battery icon. I hold power button for 10-15 seconds and my device started to load, but it got freezed on "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7". My Tab is rooted, but firmware is official.
What my DEVICE CAN'T DO:
* Can't load into CWM (freezing at "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7";
* Can't Power on;
* Can't charge;
* Can't connect to PC.
What my DEVICE CAN DO:
* Load into Downloading mode.
Is it possible to restore my Tab? If yes, how to do it, using Downloading mode (Kies doesn't see my tab)? Please help.
Thanks for your help.

I feel sorry about that. Do you clean install your ROM? If you can now go to CWM Recovery, then it would be good. You can try factory reset in CWM.
I had the same issue this is when the flashed Rom is damaged. You need to install the originap Samsung Rom which can be bought from samsung or give your tab to a repair shop they will have the neccery things.

Flashed CWM using Odin, but still can't access anything. I can only see two loading screens:
1. Freezing battery icon. (it happens, when i try to charge my tablet)
2. Freezing Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 sign.(it happens, when i just try to power my device on)
The only way I can power off my tablet is to wait untill my device's battery discharges.

Although I can boot into CWM 5.0.2.7 but I'm unable to successfully get a rom to work...

I started with ICS stock but after my initial flash did't work I believe I wasn't really running any rom because it didn't work.
I then went into Odin/download mode (holding volume down and power).
once in I used the cwm-6.0.2.3-p6800.tar file and loaded it under "Bootloader" then I flashed that successfully.
to then get into recovery I hold Volume up + power (for a very long time about 20secs).
Once in recovery then you can begin the above guide to repair the sdcard.
Hope that helps.
Thanks again for your reply.
I did exactly everything you wrote, even installed original ICS firmware again using Odin. Flashed recovery, hold Power + Vol Up buttons for like 5 minutes, but f*** this, still didn't boot into recovery. Erh.. my device is broken forever.. No solution for all this..

How do you flash CWM using ODIN? CWM isn't a Bootloader, nor a PDA, nor a Phone, nor a CSC.
Thanks in advance, hope I'll get back my Galaxy Tab 7.7!

2. connect your device to your pc and start odin
3. put the cwm files on phone section of odin
4. flash awayyyyy....

Yaaaaay! Problem solved! My Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. P6800 is alive again!
The problem was so easy, that i laught alot, when solved it. The problem was with micro SDcard. I used micro SDcard from my last Nokia phone, but Nokia's micro SDcard didn't approach to SGT7.7, but it approached ONLY by the size! So I used another micro SDcard, which I got when I bougt my Tab! Woohoo, i'm so happy now

[Q] Gtab P3100 stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2" Screen

Hi there, i'm from indonesia...
Just wondering whats wrong with my step, cause now i got P3100 "stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2" Screen" until the battery drains out...
First :
- Trun off P3100
- put download mode
- connect P3100 to pc
- Click ODIN
- select "GT-P3100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.1.0.tar" file on PDA
- START
- Finish (Sucssesful)
- Reboot
- Result "stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2" Screen"
Note : just try to flash cwm to flash root.zip for P3100
Second :
- Trun off P3100
- put download mode
- connect P3100 to pc
- Click ODIN
- select "P3100XXBLH2_P3100OLBBLH1_P3100XXLH2_HOME.tar.md5" file on PDA (downloaded from Sammobile)
- START
- Finish (Sucssesful)
- Reboot
Note : Try to Restock to stock firmware 4.0.4 & already try with PIT.File selected on ODIN but..
- still "stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2" Screen"
Anybody can help me with this issue...??
Cheers
Maybe you could try reflashing the stock firmware WITHOUT any PIT file. I only remember needing a PIT file for older devices like the original Galaxy Tab P1000, not for the newer ones like the P3110.
After which, instead of letting it boot normally, try booting into recovery mode, do a factory reset/wipe cache from there then see if all works again.
Btw, one of the more popular rooting methods for P3110 is actually Chainfire AutoRoot, which does not require custom recovery like CWM and only requires you to flash the AutoRoot tar file through ODIN. Very simple & recommended by everyone here.
Ok, will try today and report soon...
Cheers

Sounds like the bootloader got messed up. That's bad & probably only the service centre can help you now.
No, if you can get it into download mode it's fixable. ODIN recovery again and try to get into recovery.

Probably flashing into stock rom will fixed it, as long as your download mode can be accessing you're gonna be fine
You guys are forgetting the most basic thing to fix the tab. Hold Power+Volume up instead of power+volume down. then using the volume keys highlight wipe data/factory reset and then press power, yes and then once finished reboot the tab.

Wipe data and install a touchwiz based rom first. I had the same problem and it is a problem of the bootloader.
Then flash twrp using odin.
Once i flashed twrp, all roms work perfect on my tab 2.
Hope that helped.

[Q] HELP my device is stuck on samsung logo screen

HEY guyzz hope this site will be helpful,
first of all i have a samsung galaxy tab 2 (p5100), i have recently installed cyanogenmod 10 on my tab. when installing cyanogenmod i faced a problem of stucking on the boot loop of cyanogenmod but i solved it by getting in recovery mode and wiping cache and wiping data/factory reset, after then i wanted to have google apps in my tab as installed cyanogenmod does not have google apps. i downloaded google apps pack from net and installed it by the same way i have installed cyanogenmod but when after it rebooted my TAB and wizard touch setup keeps crashes. then, i get into recovery and again wiped data/factory reset. then again rebooted and it crashed again the worst thing is that i cant go to my homescreen or to the apps drawer then, i downloaded cyanogenmod nightly and send it to my tab and try to install it by going in recovery but i cant install it. then i get to the advanced and formatted user data, and rebooted after then my tab always stuck on the the logo screen on the logo sreen it said: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Now, i cant go to recovery nor in the download mode. PLZZ HELP ME HOPE I WILL GET THE SOLUTION VERY FAST.....

You may probably think it is the gapps that has some problems, but actually its your ROM's issue.
my friend has a htc desire z and he tried a lots of version of gapps and ROMs in many combinations and what happened is-
AOSB ROM without gapps = perfect!
AOSB ROM with any version of gapps = bootloop
any other ROM with or without any version of gapps = perfect!
So i can include, his AOSB ROM as well as your ROM has issues!
Try using another one!
cant go into recovery mode nor in download mode

Thx for the advise and i also undrstand what u r trying to say but tell me how i intall a new rom as i cant go in recovery nor in download mode hope u will reply fast and give me a suitable and best answer....thx anyway
What happens when you try to turn it on in download mode, by pressing power+volume down, what happens?? Does a "firmware error" shows up?
If nothing happens like i told above, keep your tab on untill the battery dies then connect it to charger and you might be lucky to get into download mode

Sorry but seems i can no longer help you. If you could get into download mode somehow, things would be much easier.
For now, i can just recommend you visit a cyanogenmod forum , they can help you for sure.
Or you can take it to nearby samsung store, anyways.

Great!! now that you've entered download mode, first install Odin in your pc, connect your tab with usb cable and see if odin can detect your phone.
Now download the official firmware of your tab 2, p5100 from http://www.sammobile.com/ (download the firmware compatible in your country and flash it via odin.
Use google search to get detailed description of how to use odin, Best of luck

[Q&A] [ROM][P51xx][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 11 (CM11)

Q&A for [ROM][P51xx][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 11 (CM11)

I just found that changing the wallpaper multiple times(twice or thrice or maybe even once) results in black background which cannot be changed. After wallpaper becomes black the interface seems to lag and if the device is locked and screen turns off then the display won't turn on even after pressing the power button! And I had to restart the device!
flixster
Hello,
thanks for this great image. Everything works fine onmy 5110 except flixster.
Has anyone a solution to run flixster on cm11 ?

I change my wallpaper often and have not run into this issue, try reflashing rom.
Pp.
Is it because i flashed this Rom directly from stock android 4.0! I did not upgrade to stock jellybean!
i have noticed since using cm11 rom nightlies, some game audio/bgm sound seems distorted compared with jelly bean stock rom,
although gameplay little bit slow but still playable, even after applying custom kernel for cm11
and with cm11 nightlies (141103) wallpaper become black, from logcat show up many errors from WallpaperManager or something like that.
Wifi Ad-hoc Mode
Hi,
I have installed this rom in my p5110 device and I want to use the wifi in adhoc mode. But the Cyanogenmod for p5110 has no option to create a adhoc network. I have the Cyanogenmod 11 installed in a Galaxy S (i9000B) and works fine.
Why the p5110 does not show the option to create the adhoc network?
Thanks for yours attention

Same problem for me (with nightly 20141105)
Nightly means, I'm changing some stuff (experimenting ) on this rom and you by downloading will be my tester,if it works it becomes an update to rom. If doesn't work, it gets canned. Just nandroid back to original rom.
Pp.
Hi, where can i find 4.4 gapps (minimal)??
Thanks
Google is your friend.

GTP3110 - CM11 Installation Failed
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" (Wi-Fi)
I tried to install CM11 under Mac with Terminal but it failed (maybe i unplugged the USB cable too early).
Now the Tab does not work: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
Under Mac OS X Yosemite ADB can't recognize my device, reboot in recovery or in download mode.

I followed that guid the original cyanogenmod wiki guid for GTP3110
And the tab didn't showed the blue transferscreen. I waited for that probably 10-15minutes but nothing happened (but mac said that transfer was finished), and i unplugged the USB cable.
guide: wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p3110
So you tried to flash CWM, right?
Connect your Tab and try again using heimdall, download mode running in background of your BSOD (Black Screen of Death).
Good luck!

You said you used this guide, you didn't flash a P3110 cm rom by accident, did you?
If you did it could be bricked. ???
Pp.
Doesn't matter if recovery or rom from p31xx flashed on p51xx (same the other way, sometimes i flash p51xx stuff on my p3110), only cause wrong resolution and touch won't work.
He failed on flashing CWM, on BSOD Odin and heimdall still can be used to flash a rom or recovery, download mode running in background automatically.

Thanks for clarification.

Actually i don't know could or not be bricked but I'm sure that i flashed p3110 CM ROM. Before the blue screen it stucked or something like that. Now it shows that message (and a can't recognize the device with dab or i can't boot recovery or download mode with buttons): "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
