Question Reddit ask page reposting - How to install Google Services on the Chinese version of a Xiaomi 12S Ultra, without losing your warranty and legitimacy - Xiaomi 12S Ultra

Just reposting my question about how to get some Xiaomi global version features on the Chinese one, for my Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/ya0qjl
Maybe if it gets bigger, this thread can be moved to an android general discussion...
P.S.: Feel free to answer where you feel more comfortable, here or there! Personally, I suggest here...

Installing google services.
You will find on the Chinese store all or part of the apps necessary for google services, the rest to download elsewhere.
Regarding the warranty, if you live in a country where this phone is not officially sold by Xiaomi, Xiaomi will refuse the warranty.
Unlocking the bootloader or rooting does not pose a problem for the warranty.
Normally if you bricked your phone with a rom other than a Xiaomi like AOSP or Xiaomi Eu rom, Xiaomi refuses the warranty but I saw on some posts some guys who had an AOSP and that didn't cause any problem.
Anyway, unless you live in China or another country where this phone is available, the only warranty is the seller's (usually limited).
Many install a Xiaomi Eu rom that has the play store certified without root.
In case of hardbrick due to the software, you can always recover your phone.
It happens especially to those who launch into it without documenting themselves beforehand.
EDIT:
Also consider the bands used in your country.
US example.

Man, Where I live, in Brazil, There's Xiaomi official selling, So I hold the manufacturer's warranty, and if you buy it indirectly from an authorized third-party store (How is it there where you live, in the US? Does there have resale and an authorized list from the manufacturer?), and can beyond have Xiaomi warranty, get the seller one too (but generally it doesn't count because seller's warranty generally last shorter)!
But once, our warranty will end, so then I point here a secondary question, which unofficial ROM is better, the Chinese or Global?
I heard that all the unofficial ROMs are based on the Chinese one, and the Global, on the EEA ROM (just a doubt, is EU ROM directly based on Chinese, or on another intermediary one?), and agreeing with that, others Chinese-based ROMs updating dependency on Xiaomi ones turns up.
What gets me to the conclusion that having the Chinese ROM someway is the best option, since besides it's official and has their support, it's the most optimized ROM according to many comments I saw about it, and I heard it has some unique features (which I didn't see yet but I don't doubt so much) as well as Global version (official). We could talk about the phone language too, but it doesn't seem to be an issue for me, given that Chinese ROM supports English so I don't have difficulty with this interface reading.
At last, actually, is MIUI OS open-source, right? Just to confirm...

If Xiaomi sells this phone in Brazil, you benefit from the legal guarantee in your country.
There is no Global or other roms, only Chinese ones.
For the moment only Xiaomi Eu rom provides custom roms.
Edit:
This phone is intended only for the Chinese market, I doubt that it is sold in Brazil by Xiaomi, in any case online there is none.
https://www.mi.com/br/list/
A Chinese phone that has no equivalent on the global market will always have a Chinese base.
For example: the Poco f2 pro (global market) equivalent to the k30 pro (Chinese market) but the developers prefer to use the Chinese base than the global because it is more advanced and more updated.

It's not the problem that there are 1 or 100 Xiaomi official store, the problem is that the Xiaomi 12s Ultra is only intended for the Chinese market.

Update Lumia 710 - is this the correct one for my country ?

Hi,
I recently bought a Nokia Lumia 710. Runs very smooth, but I'm pissed because it lacks basic stuff like an eq (WTF???)
As I understand, a software update could at least improve the sound qual a little, so I'm checking navifirm and don't understand something :
I currently have this firmware on my phone :
{

I'm noticing it's the only one in navifirm for my country, so it has to be the one on my phone. It is a v1 firmware.
In Zune it says that it is the latest firmware for my phone.
But in navifirm there are newer updates for various countries.
In navifirm this shows up for my country code :
It is a newer version apparently available, but it is a v2 firmware.
Can I just go on and flash this for my phone with NCS ? The product codes seem to match but one is v1, the other v2.
I know that this still isn't available through Zune because of my operator, cause they are responsible for pushing it, and I rather not wait for them to get off their lazy butts.
And should I want to debrand, what are the actual downsides/upsides, cause that still isn't quite clear to me. Is it easy to do and would it harm the phone if done right ?
Thanx for anythone helping me out here, this is my first "smart"phone, allhough I don't find a lot of actual "smart" in the phone. What I do find is a lot of lacks and issues. But that aside, it would at least be something if I could get the latest possible updates as soon as possible...
FaGrop teacher,
No-one can point me in the right direction ? When will those updates in navifirm pushed officially ? Which one do I choose ? I really wanna learn some of this stuff, and I've been reading lot about WP7 and the issues and FW devellopment and I know this phone is not fully unlocked yet, for now. I'm doing fair part of research, but it's thinly documented so I'm having a hard time trusting the flashing process and what it would change or harm. Any info or help or guidence would be very much welcomed.

Thnx for the recommendation, but I just bought this 710, and I'm not planning to buy another for now.
Besides, the only annoying thing for me is the lack of an EQ for music, and the 900 doesn't have that either. If I would buy another it wouldn't be a windows phone.
I checked again, and the label behind the battery says my product code is 059N1Q9 - Netherlands. (RM-803)
1600.3030.8773.12120 is available for that product code, which has the long awaited tethering feature, but the FW I have now is V1, and this one is V2.
So I only need to know 3 things :
- what does the V1 or V2 mean, and do they have to match ?
- is 1600.3030.8773.12120 ok to flash if it is the same product code as it says on my phone ?
- are there disadvantages to flashing manually, or should I wait to have it pushed through Zune ?
thanx again. please help me out here. I've asked this on a couple of forums, but I can't get a decent answer anywhere.
Really, no-one ?
Is it because I am new here ? I'm fairly possitive that most ppl here easily know this stuff without giving it a thought (?)
Maybe I forgot to mention that I don't no the slightest thing about mobile devellopment, or whatever's the right term for it.
I did once flash a Nokia with a custom FW, it was a Symbian device. So I can manage a flash, and have been reading about the subject. But still I don't really know about the insides and can't find a clear example of this.
The rules mention that one should try to help others too, but really, I wouldn't know how.
So my appologies for the low amount of posts.
The thing is, I'm very low on budget, personal causes, and I'd hate to brick the device cause I happened to flash the wrong update. I really need to be sure first.
To be honest switching the firmware isn't as simple on the Nokia Lumia (WP7) devices as it is with Nokia Symbian devices. As a result keeping an eye on Navifirm is not as usefull when it comes to Lumia devices.
Sorry to say that with the WP7 devices the FW releases have been controlled somewhat by Microsoft providing a graduated release accross the world rather than the slightly quicker global releases provided by Nokia for Symbian devices.
Must admit the lack of an EQ and multiple volume controls has been a pet hate for me with my Nokia Lumia 800, but I'm just hoping that these issues are rectified as Nokia gain more input into WP OS developement, especially with WP8.
There has been a ful interop unlock FW hack released which you could try if you are prepared to take the risk. You could check out the windowsphonehacker website for further info.

Yes, but apparently the update IS available through Navifirm, so that's not the issue. I just need to know if it is the right one. Also, I've read that actually for Lumia devices, flashing and even debranding is a peace of cake, and much easier then a symbian device ?
Anyway, after a week of asking questions and reading, I'm still uncertain if the update I mentioned in OP is the right one or not...thought it was a fairly straight forward question, but apparently it is not.
I'll check that website you mention.

This is not an update, it is the complete new Firmware. You can of course update your phone with these files, but they are intended for use in production and Care Points only. You don't necessarily find every update on these servers. For instance the 12072 update did appear on NaviFirm a few weeks after it was released through MS. At the moment I'd suggest that you wait for the official rollout of Mango Refresh as it should be coming in the next few days.

I see. So what we see in Navifirm isn't supposed to be used directly by us? So are those firmwares different from what we get offically ? It's just that who knows when the update comes offically. Officially I'm still on 11502 with no newer updates than that. But apparently they're allready 4updates beyond that with tethering fixed. It could be weeks or even months before my carrier pushes a new update and I really don't wanna wait that long ? I thought by using Navifirm I'd get the same updates but faster?
If it helps, I am using the Proximus ROM that is the UK 8773.98 that includes tethering and everything. It works just fine with my phone (US Tmobile Lumia 710 unlocked and using an ATT sum card through Straight Talk).
To know which one to use, I just clicked on whichever variant had the Tmobile ROM in it, which I believe it was 809. Just look for whichever 710 version has the stock firmware of your phone, and that's the one I would go with...
Go to the Lumia 800 Dev section and you'll find fully unlocked 710 ROMs ready to flash, follow instructions though, they will probably have the latest firmware included!
Hello Toby7,
I am confrontaded with the same questions like you.
Don't worry about V1 or V2. It has nothing to do with the phone. It is the number of the firmware release. The edition for Proximus exists since a long time, what I mentioned here:
"To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding"
Solution: Search for "Inoffizielles Firmware-Update auf Nokia Lumia 710" in Google
If you update your phone by Zune, you must only compare the ProductCode. If you flash with other tools, it doen't matter which ProductCode you have. But don't forget, only if you update by Zune, all settings and apps will stay. With other methods, your whole phone will be deleted. That is the reason why I am still waiting until Zune will update my phone with 1600.3030.8773.12120 (V3 in Austria) or even 1600.3030.8773.12121 (V4 in Austria).
I can't still say when the releases will be official, but you can follow this question in my posting:
"To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding"
Solution: Search for "[Lumia 710] When will the newest update be official?" in Google
Best regards
Update will be rolled out at 27th June

Cheap Chinese phones?

Two colleagues of mine bought two different China-clone phones: one was a clone of iPhone (we were used to call it C-phone) and one was a clone of Samsung Galaxy S.
They both lasted no more than two months! Cheap plastic, ridiculous storage, resistive screens, lack of components (one without BT, the other had a wireless chip so bad that ot was pretty useless)
My idea is that Chinese cloning-machines-factories put their best effort in reproducing the external look of the phones they're inspiring at, but when you look inside you can find bad surprises...
And we had the same experience with clone-tablets too.
Stay away from that crap!

I need something that wont be detected by At&T as a smartphone.I had to get rid of my Note i717 because of that and it seems even the none At&t branded phablets are detected so a T-mobile one is out.

only about 300 dollars AUD
REMEMBER, dont go for clones, go for phones made by proper/real companies.

Totally agree. There are good Chinese companies that make good phones, obviously prices are not so different from Samsung, LG, Sony, etc.
Why to waste money on Chinese phones. Now there are lots of mobile companies who offering many cheap smartphones same as Samsung galaxies phones Like Micromax, Huwai and lots more and between these phones. I think Mircomax is best in cheap smartphones.

thank you very much for the recommendation,i was just looking at the micromax site. have you personally used any of their smartphones?
Have a look at Zopo. I've got the Zopo C2 http://www.zopomobileshop.com/107-z...d-13-mp-camera-mt6589-android-smartphone.html and I am more than happy - especially for this price.
And BTW aren't most of the phones "chinese phones" even the i-Phone?
Hello
Yes, They seem to be clones of Samsung Galaxies.
Having many models, but operating system of these phone is lower to compare original phone.
I'm using a Huawei Ascend G330D with TWO SIM cards! I think this is a really good phone with all features as the 'big' ones. I have to say one con to it; bad custom mod support and no multilanguage (chinese and english only). There are some sellers in Europe they are selling them WITH multilanguage support but I can't get a ROM.
I just hope Huawei will make the takeover at Nokia (as there are some rumours).
Regards!
BB
Unless you are looking for something that will hardly last 3 months, never go for chinese. You can find cheap enough smart phones by Samsung and as the other guy said Micromax too offers great devices for low price. You can get canvas 2 hd which got features of Galaxy Grand at a far lesser price. If you are looking forward to tweak your phone then better go for samsung or sony as there are lots of guides provided and if you dont want to mess with your device and want something cheaper, go with something like micromax.

Same here.
My dad bought two Chinese knockoffs that look like Samsung clones, as they have he design, but anyone can tell these are knockoffs. The image shown during boot-up shows the company name "L-Tide",and underneath are the words "lead tide". The OS is Android KitKat, and both have a Samsung Exynos chipset. The model number is just "S756". Anyone know if there is a suitable custom rom for this device?
I'll suggest you to buy Meizu.
I have Meizu M2 Note for a year and had no problems at all.

Confirmed Oreo for P9

Looks more like chinese than danish. Not sure what to believe now.
I can't read chinese, but i really want Oreo on my P9, even if it's the last i get before buying a new phone.

Another negative person.... you know everything i assume??? Do you have a source spying on the company im working for??? Dear Negative person. Now I am allowed to say that i already have in my hands an unpublished Pre-beta test Oreo version on my phone since i have a part i develop for the firmware in the country i live for. For a better and stable support for the mobile companies here and customize few things.
Dear negative person this forum was the beginning for many of us recognized or not developers to find a hobby that potentially could lead in a job. I am a good example my self. So i personally demand a bit of respect from users who are interested on customizing their mobile devices, but they do not have enough of knowledge or and experience. All these years (and that's my 3rd newest active account because i like to keep my developing clean so i can manage my requests) until i expand my knowledge i was reading and asking. Lots of questions, lots of annoyance towards other devs. I would suggest you to do the same if you are interested on developing so you will not have to wait for any Huawei to give you the experience you want on your device. Internet is a free exchange of ideas in the end of the day and that idea me and all of my generation fought so you will enjoy your right to share your opinions throughout the web.....but... Idea is not spreading inaccurate misinformation. Thats literally a crime and its punishable. I am telling you off for many reasons and because i am concerned especially with P9 since i am leading a dev project. P9 is an essential device with great characteristics that can compete all the devices in the market right now you like it or not, you admit it or not. Its underdeveloped yes. I agree! Like the rest of the mobile phones out there. The main reason is that you can not be a pioneer with the same speed as 15 years ago, since the technology moved fast and forward the last 15 years with no space for new ideas and pioneering. And then... financially crisis hits all over the world... Android is not an Iphone. Its not Apple. Android is FREE and once you have a free thing you have to pay for laws to be able to give it for free like the companies who dont give their operating systems for free. No android mobile company earns $$ from the operating system. Its is against the law to do it. All of the companies i worked in my past like Nokia, Sony, Google, etc etc are making their profits from the devices. in other words RETAIL SALES.
So now you can stop spreading your hate because you are disappointed from your device and rethink. Every action have a reaction. Thats the basic rule of engineering i learned in school. And its true that this law applies to real life.
Now back to the subject and to answer clearly your stupid comment so you will not mislead opinions.
You can not have Emui 8 without Oreo and vice versa. Its not just an APK based app. its a new customized framework which needs environment and code for Oreo to work. For an example you can not install Emui camera from any version to a google vanilla firmware and make it work without changing and codding things and support through kernel and OS the application. If the application needs Oreo based system simply it will crash and it will not work as it should. Thats all i have to say.
I hope you enjoy my way of talking.
PS: Its a phone and not a rocket yes? It does what they promised you it will do. Be glad and wait or move on to a "better supported device".
If you have demands of buying a new phone because the market is trying to grab more money out of your pockets by providing a new OS...then guess what.... you are a retail sales victim.
With love and respect

You can not call me an insider. I met through this forum many people and many devs who was working in much more famous mobile companies. Hell yes we even had official programmers for Microsoft, Sony, Samsung. XDA gave loads of knowledge to this industry. As for the beta test i will say Soon i assume the first version you could try in few weeks is the Chinese one since most of the complete parts are coming for porting and translating here. Which means whenever permissions will be allowed and made for public beta test. Unfortunately as for now is strictly for internal development purposes. I will repeat Its not "insiders". It is a part of our job to provide the best experience for our country. Finland is famous for many companies like Nokia (clearly Finnish company that creates from tires for cars, to space engineering technologies, lasers and back in time even mattresses ), Huawei EU departments (responsible for development and marketing around EU and passing to other companies for additional changes), Rovio (Angry birds ) etc etc and many other companies in general.
Time to rest a bit

Its is against the law to do it.
the companies i worked in my past like Nokia, Sony, Google, etc etc are making their profits from the devices. in other words RETAIL SALES.
If you have demands of buying a new phone because the market is trying to grab more money out of your pockets by providing a new OS...then guess what.... you are a retail sales victim.

p.s. sorry couldn't resist
A Dutch source also confirmed the release of Oreo for the P9 and P9 plus. Release date yet unknown.

I hope this is true so my P9 will get it's last update.

Hi, and what about rollback from Oreo to Nougat? It would be logical if rollback will be released earlier than Oreo-beta ?you agree with me?

Prey ahahaha
Nuh the beta goes for devs who know how to make an assessment, report etc etc. I wouldn't touch a beta if I wasn't sure of what I'm doing. Also its rare to release such files that will caused bootloop. Crashing yeap i get it very often but its too early to tell you anything more. With the files i have i dont get bootloop. There are issues with battery and overheating but thats all so far. But yeap to clarify... so far no issues of rolling back as well since I'm doing it daily

I'm not talking about myself, I can perfectly rebranding and flash any firmware, but nevertheless thanks for the answer, and ... welcome Oreo.
Cool stuff, i hope they take their time and release a bug free version. So glad i bought this device nearly two years ago and its still a very good smartphone that can even compete with more recent ones.

Hi
Would it be possible to have the HDR mode on the screen like you have for the AI, or have an option when you can add an extra few to the sliding modes already?
Hi,
Would like to see better, quicker support of monthly updates, also a slight brightness boost would be great.
Great phone by the way, thank you.
Are there any plans to improve the camera quality? I see it as a 5T replacement, but based on the reviews, still confused. Also, have heard that getting a bootloader unlock code is really tiresome? Kindly make these devices as developer friendly as much as possible. Lastly, pls also introduce a 64gb version in India which is more economical for the masses.

Hey,
My question Is about the use of AI scene detection and semantic segmentation for enhanced Augmented Reality experience.
Since the Honor View 10 and the Honor 10 have NPU clad SoCs and the Honor 10 can recognise more than 500 scenes and also use semantic segmentation within one frame, could we use this object identification featur s to enhance the AR (Augmented Reality) experience on the AI enabled Honor devices, considering recognition of objects and surfaces is one of major problems when it comes to AR?
Hi
Are there any plans for releasing a device with unique international ROM across all the regions Just like some other competitors ?
It will help developers to make a stable custom Rom for the device. And eventually users will benefit from it.
Is there any proper way to get the bootloader unlock code as the unlock page was taken down from the website recently.
Would honor be open to releasing a phone with stock android or android one, at least for its flagships, so as to attract lots of new customers through promise of faster and guaranteed updates?
Will you ever put Wireless Charging in a Honor phone?
Will you stick to Kirin processors for High End phones or are you considering Qualcomm processors too e.g. Snapdragon 845?
what would be the improvements you could bring to Honor 11?
Why is included notification LED so small? It's basically like phone doesn't have notification LED. Also Wi-Fi range it's very bad compared to my previous phone, status bar icons and text are extremely small, why not let us customize them? Why did you take down bootloader unlock page, you really think people will believe story about about technical issues? Why is AI just oversaturating photos? Why your international phone has camera suitable only for Asian girls who want smooth baby white skin with heavy post processing even with beautify completely disabled, you know people outside China prefer real skin photos right?
Can you talk about why you removed bootloader unlock and when/if it's coming back? Without bootloader unlock, no development is possible
Bootloader
Why did Huawei decided to lock the bootloader and stop supporting developers? After a period of seemingly supporting XDA, now the company wants to revert it all back to when it was not as popular. Can we really trust a company whose promise last for only 3 months?

Glad they announced it early before I was about to make a plunge to Honor 10. What is amusing is that they are so excited to collaborate with end users on a Development oriented portal and curtailing the freedom as a backdoor policy.
Oh yeah, I definitely have more than a question for the Honor representative, which I'm pretty sure won't be featured, but anyway.
Why do you like to screw people (especially enthusiasts like here on XDA)?
You push funds into this partnership with XDA, push funds into "Honor opensource program", then kill all development by preventing users to unlock their bootloaders, the first step necessary to begin development...
Why is your software so messy that bricking a device is so easy when attempting to flash custom ROMs?
I myself accidentally bricked a Huawei trying to flash custom ROMs about a year and a half ago. Attempting to restore the device is a real pain, maybe the real "danger" of flashing custom ROMs as you say isn't the custom ROM itself, but your horrible implementation that leads to devices sent to warranty repairs.
What do you gain by backstabbing this community?
I see you even bothered to make an account and "talk to us". You invested so much in this community and now you silently backstab us. Do you think by locking your devices you will gain security and more users? You will actually lose users, and this is android folks, people will always find a way to mess up with your stuff.
Why did you limit the "Honor open source program" only to this year's devices?
Yeah, I'm a Honor 9 customer, and I would've liked if this incentive was applied to the last year's device. It seems logical to me to support the last year's device, just saying.
Why is the "Honor open source program" such a fraud?
To quote a former forum user, this explains what this miraculous program really is.
I must say I quite disappointed in the "Honor Open Source Program". To a developer, a program with this name, coming from a phone manufacturer, implies that this will be a program in which Honor will release the source code of the phone to developers in the program. However, that seems not to be the case. Now, I am forced to conclude that the a-fore mentioned program is just a means to give away free phones and hope that developers will be so grateful for a free phone, that they will help generate a loud noise that will boost the sales of the Honor View 10. This is not a bad thing. A free phone is nice but if I had known we wouldn't see anymore source that is normally given from Huawei/Honor, I would not have signed up.

I am more than 100% sure that you won't even bother to answer these questions, but I made this post more to show you that people here on XDA are not sheep, and we do have a brain, and we don't take bs for granted. It's a shame, the hardware is good, the software is decent(ish), but the people behind all of this aren't that cool. Just my 2 cents buddies.
Yes, I own a Honor 9, I'm satisfied with the purchase, but I'm definitely not satisfied with this kind of behavior.

I was going to buy an Honor 10 since I believe they have great support for developers. I had second thoughts at the last moment and now seeing the announcement that they made, I am glad I didn't buy it. Their hardware has never had any chance to compete with the likes of Samsung or Apple. The only thing making them seem attractive was developer support, but that too is seemingly dead. Never gonna recommend a Huawei device to anyone ever again.
Any Update On Honor 9i Oreo Update Please ? Waiting for so long..Btw..Love Honor Phones..?
I have a bkl l09 still on November 2017 security patches.
Bring in America how am I able to update?
I love this phone as it really is a well made phone.
But will they be lost due to out of date firmware?
When will Honor develop service centre chain like Xiaomi did??, with the best service you can grab more market in India
Honor IR Blaster
There is IR Blaster in Honor Phones. It's very useful. So I Wanted to know how IR Blaster is preserved and not removed like the other manufacturers.
First of all I don't want to "win a free gift"
I would love to know why you do such hypocritical moves. It amazes me how suddenly from "Open to devs" you became "You can't unlock your bl".
It's a shame that you behaved in such manner, considering a lot of people really trusted in you, especially Chris that really looked forward into this project.

PSA: Poco is NOT unbrickable due to EDL mode being protected

Before I got started on hacking the Poco (e.g. custom splash graphics, maybe repartition for dualboot, who knows what else) I wanted to port-over my Low-level Backup/Restore kit from Mi A1.
To my disappointment I have discovered that the EDL mode on the Poco is protected by some proprietary Xiaomi authorization.
This is the same problem encountered as those many who have bricked over anti-rollback protection in other devices - they cannot get authorization.
So, in summary - EDL flashing is not possible as Xiaomi have locked it to authorized machines only. Avoid messing around with non-standard-Android partitions at all costs.

I guess we can bring this up to Jai Mani since he insists that this phone would be custom development friendly.

As the whyred disaster of anti roll-back happened, they need the authenticated account to unbrick from edl brick with requesting through miui forum thread. What about poco???

reading comments it seems some people already lost interest in xiaomi devices due to ARP.
If anyone has twitter, should write to him. i think this could be solved. If he wants some real development, this should be disabled.

thanks, I'm interested why it's not disabled at bootloader unlock, otherwise Xiaomi will become pointless for developers.
I like my new pocophone but that's rather not developer-friendly.

@jaimani if you guys are serious about development friendliness then you should give full freedom for at-least POCO. Don't put barriers otherwise your wish to fill development threads on XDA won't come true.

The idea of this protection is security, it's a good feature in principle but poorly implemented. It should be possible for us as verified Mi account holder for this device to automatically have authorization - much like we log-in to our device account when unlocking the bootloader (which only took 5 minutes after setting up the device for me - not even 3 days).
It could be possible that this "authorization" for EDL mode is actually *not* in Xiaomi's power, but the ODM (the actual manufacturer of the phone; Xiaomi don't own any factories AFAIK) or even the OEM themselves (Qualcomm) but I doubt it, since we have to login with a Mi account to check for authorization.

Seen lots of people claim that. In every case the account only provides it once, then it loses authorisation.

No. There is no ARB in Pocophone.
But it is part of general security (stops people changing ROM's without unlocking bootloader or something).

Who said it's unbrickable? It's not. This thread is saying it's NOT unbrickable, because we're locked out of EDL mode.
ARB is a completely different thing. But Xiaomi phones with ARB also have locked EDL mode. So far only Mi A1 (and I think the A2's) are the only Xiaomi devices without EDL protection. It's there to block cross-flashing from reseller's, because it doesn't require unlocked bootloader to access EDL mode at all.
Read that recent XDA article about it, it covers all this stuff (I wouldn't be surprised if this thread was one of the inspirations for that article).
