Hi guys, hope all it well with you!
I'm currently holding off updating my S22 Ultra firmware as Google stopped call recording capabilities on May 11. I need this ability as a previous stroke has decimated my memory and I often have to go back through a recording to get certain details.
The Samsung site says that there should be a native call recording option in the Phone app, however it's not there on my phone. I'm not sure if that's because it's not allowed here in Australia or some other reason. I have attached a screenshot of my Phone app settings to show its not there.
Can anyone tell me how to retain the recording function after updating to the latest firmware?
TIA

Call recording depend on policities. So u have 2 options: 1 - With root, use Firefds kit xposed module. 2 - Without root, change ur rom to which support call recording. I suggest rom which from Nepal (NPL) or any country that allow it. U can find more on xda/google (CSC have call recording - key words). Good luck

Thanks for the reply I'm a bit worried about rooting my phone as last time I did it the NFC stopped working, and i use my phone to pay for things daily. Will I be able to install a foreign ROM and have it 1) be in English, and 2) work with Australian networks? Do you know if recording calls is legal in Australia?

Also, I rang Samsung and they said call recording isn't pre-installed on Samsung phones. However when searching the Samsung website it specifically states that it is. Any input on this?

Simply flashing ROM which support call recording (e.g. India,Nepal, etc) won't work
These ROMs have multi CSC and it will update CSC according your SIM in device.
There are two ways to have native call record.
1.Root with CSC mods &/or Custom ROM support it
2.Non Root. Change CSC (No needs to flash ROM). Search for SamFW Tool.

Hey, I am planning on buying galaxy s8+ (exynos version).
Since I will buy it aboard I want to be sure that I could change the ROM to an Israeli ROM (aka ILO), and getting OTA updates for it.
Anyway, I heard that in order to be able to receive OTAs, I must change the CSC as well- am I right?
If I am, how do I accomplish it? will it trip knox? is my deivce need to be rooted?
I also got a silly question- by changing ROM I can choose the Hebrew language, right?
Thank ya all! I have searched on XDA but most of the information is about the GS7E, and I am afraid that the procedure is different in each device.

Yes you can change your Rom(cdc code) to ILO since it is part of Multi csc code(OXM) and you won't trigger the Knox.
To get OTA, you have to remain "Official"! Meaning if you choose to modify your device(Root, etc..)
you cannot receive over the air updates, however you can flash it via TWRP.
The most important thing for you is, if you buy your device from Europe, that is Sim-Free, you must
make a minimum of 5 minutes voice call with an European Network SIM card or your device will be
Region Locked to Europe and you wouldn't be able to use it outside of Europe. If you are actually buying
from Europe, check your phone after the 5 minute voice call so that the "Region Lock" has been removed.
Good luck.

Hey guys so after trying the following software (Dr.Fone for Android by Wondershare) to recover some deleted photos off my phone i started getting some message saying: Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes.
Obviously I tried to reboot countless times, tried to do a factory reset and even wipe the Cache Partition without any success. Tried to use Smart Switch too but when going to the Emergency software recovery and Device initialization I get a warning that I need at least 800Mb free. The phone has 16Gb free space . Any solution? Throught about flashing ROM but I don't know if the bootloader is locked by default on Samsung devices and if there's even a official rom.
Thanks in advance
Which model S7?
You can use ODIN 3.12.3 or above to flash a stock ROM from sammobile.com or updato.com
Possible if you check the phone about > status in settings it will say 'Custom', flashing a stock ROM should get you back to 'Official' and remove the error
Regular S7 ( SM-G930F). I'll look into it right now Thanks
Edit : There are so many country ones but there's none for my country. Does it make such a difference? I bought my phone from Germany and use it on a daily basis in Finland. I never heard about a ROM that only works with a specific operator. Besides mine wouldn't even work here.

BTU and XEU are United Kingdom unbranded ROMs, could try one of those
The only things I've heard not working by installing different region ROMs (CSC) is stuff like WiFi Calling / VoLTE etc, haven't heard of anyone not being able to get a signal at all
Check which one you're running now, you're looking at the CSC version
Use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en_GB
Check under "CSC Code" tab to see what you're running, then match it to the ROM you download

How did you fix it?
New instructions dated Sept 15th 2018
No root needed.
Should work on all Snapdragon USA/Canada etc models (ATT , verizon, sprint, tmobile tc) S7 or S7edge (though the file is from S7edge India model). Leave a message in this thread if you encounter any issues.
Am not responsible for any damage you might do to your device.. am just trying to help.
Keep your Jio SIM in the phone all along.
1. Back up your data using Samsung smart switch or any other means (save whatsapp chats to google in settings)
2. Flash stock firmware (On unzipping stock FW, you'll get AP, CP,BL and CSC files. Use Odin to flash them) (Don't flash User data file if it's there in extracted files) - Download from Updato site for faster downloads
Use recommended patched Odin is located here
3. Download the Indian CSC file G935F_INSCSC
4. Ignore this step if you have adb working on your PC already.
Install "minimal ADB fastboot" program on PC, Copy the G935F_INSCSC.zip to your minimal ADB folder on computer (under program files on C drive).
Double click cmd-here.exe in that folder.
5. Boot the phone to recovery mode and choose Apply update via ADB sideload
6. Connect your phone to your computer with your USB cable.
7. On ADB window on PC type "adb devices" without quotes. Next line should show a device attached
If seen, type "adb sideload G935F_INSCSC.zip" without qoutes. It'll start transferring the file.. check mobile screen it'll install itself. (you might see some errors)
8. Reboot file and check, you should have Volte.
Possible errors:
1. Phone app/Msg app force closing
Try SMS app from google
Reflash AP BL CP only excluding CSC
Install CSC zip via adb again
2. Sprint OMADM app needs to be removed to avoid annoying notification or change notifications to low priority
To remove via ADB, turn on usb debugging
type in adb shell
you should see a dollar sign.
next type in pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.omadmspr
it should say success.
ADB sideloading is explained in this video in the last https://youtu.be/giD7nP4Oue4
Old instructions have been deleted....
Thank you Proper vlog on youtube for testing my method and reporting.

I see the device security been disabled and when i try to open it , it force closes . does this means Knox is disabled and thats why i am not able to add any cards in samsung pay ?
Can you please help? . I need to have samsung pay working ?
Is the CSC file you included only take care of Jio VoLTE or stuffs with all operators ? . I hear that Airtel is even testing VoLTE.

I've only tested till login. Tried to add card after reading your comment. I too had connection error. I've only changed CSC in that file. US guys didn't have any issues it seems.
I can't open some pages on spay too.. not sure if it's related to Samsung servers or our device. I'll check later.
If it were related to knox issue, it won't even let you login. (Like on a rooted device).
VoLTE is related to CSC and device model. So it should work with airtel too. Lets see.

I will also try with a clean install of the system without removing any bloats and check.
You also try and keep posted. If you want me to try something on this , let me know.
BTW , do you have the latest csc files for india thats ODIN flash-able ?
Also will it be an issue because of the samsung pay framework. I hrd that it need Indian framework and India spay app for successful adding of our cards.
Do you have any idea as how to bring spay India framework to this rom ?
Thank you for the input man.
I just wonder if the CSC is CPU dependent? Since I want to modify it with a CSC for HongKong, I am not sure if it matters for Exynos / Snapdragon rom.
Or would you mind help me to modify the file with Hong Kong CSC for me? thank you very much!

CSC is not dependent on processor as long as it's flashed via twrp/flashfire as a zip. But odin flashing is different.
So, which is your device? if it's SM-G935F/FD/K/L/S/W8 then use https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957 TGY is in that zip.

Hi, I just did as what was instructed.
After I have gone throught the Auroma screen, having checked No Wiping and Keep SU, ticked what to debloat,
it says finished and restarted.
1. When it was rebooting, it keep popping up com.sec.epdg has stopped, IMS Service stopped.
Is that normal or what else should I do?
2. I also noticed the modified file for India is over 500mbs, but the TGY file for Hong Kong is just 153mb.
Is everything alright about that?
3. When I try to Odin a stock G935U firmware wiping everything, it turns into Olympic Edition Theme, and I lost my IMEI , cannot detect a Sim. There is no way for me to get it working again
thank you again.

I been using various versions of Odin and Various version of Firmware, including MM and Nougat, G935A / T/ U,
Also I tried to tick Re-Partition, Wipe NAND.
I also even tried the INDIA CSC file on the OP and the original NoNaMe Mod file.
Still, it says SIM Card Not Available, IMEI Unknown, Baseband Unknown, No Network. It used to work fine before trying the TGY CSC.

Smartswitch detected my phone but says G935A is not supported.
Finally, I approached a phonedealer in China online.
He fixed my phone remotely via Teamviewer, and he said the Certificate of Modem/Baseband was corrupted. Since the Baseband gone missing which cannot be fixed by ordinary Odin of Firmware.
I saw him used some kind of unofficial software (characters illegible to me) and got it fixed in 2 minutes, and was luckily costed me only 220RMB (around 30USD)
Well, a good lesson to learn from. There are really something not fixable by Odin and we could Eff our phone up even with the bootloader locked.
Again, it was just me requesting the OP to modify the file for me to satisfy my curiousity who happily did me a favour, there is nothing to blame with and I thank you again for all the help!
Cheers!

You can download the stock firmware yourself then flash via Odin to fix the issue but please check you are looking in the right settings first.

Have you gone into the Phone Information screen and enabled NR?
*#*#4636#*#*, choose Phone Information. Under preferred network type, change it to NR/LTE.
If that doesn't work, your carrier could be blocking it or it could need a special network configuration that the Pixel doesn't have being an unsupported device. Either way, you may be out of luck.

Sounds like your SIM is disabling the menu.
Download this app and it will bypass that.
Force LTE Only (4G/5G) - Apps on Google Play
This app will help You change network to 5G/4G/3G/2G and stay in chosen network
play.google.com
Set up the app and use Method 2 to get that menu pulled up.
I was able to use that app to force my OnePlus 9 to use 5G when I flashed the Chinese firmware that didn't actually support US carriers and also blocked dialer access to the menu so it's worth a shot.

No luck, only just unlock bootloader and root with Magisk and flash modul VOLTE to force 5G but only what makes me bad is that data must be wiped and must again activated bank app and that is procedure. Any solution to avoid vipe data when I unlock bootloader? I think that there is not

Yeah with you being stuck on EDGE, I don't have high hopes that you're able to fix this without root (and even then, you may not).
There is no way to unlock the bootloader and preserve data as the wipe is a security precaution.
