[Q] Firmware change unsuccessful

I bought my S6 in Colombia although I live in Panama. It is the SM-G920I.
I found that a Panama app I wanted to install would not install because it said the country was wrong. I guess that may be something to do with the CSC. I had naively assumed the phones in Colombia would be the same as the phones available in Panama. I now see from Sammobile that there are different firmwares for Colombia and Panama. So I downloaded the Panama firmware and installed it with Odin. Odin did its stuff and said that the installation was successful. Both firmwares are 5.0.2.
However, when the phone rebooted it was exactly the same as before and PhoneInfo still shows it as having the Colombian firmware. The only change was that I lost my Pingpong root.
Sorry for the long explanation but what have I done wrong? How can I get the Panama firmware on the phone?

You Need to download another firmware, i recommend to you to download the Trinidad And Tobago firmware, i tell you because latin america has csc codes for many countries but if your country does not have csc code it sets to latin american firmware because of your EFS Folder, if it doesnt work to you please download a firmware from France or Spain. if you doesnt want to lose pingpong root do not upgrade to a kernel made after 15 May 2015
Please do not upgrate to 5.1.1 Firmware it Sucks

Thanks. I will give that a try. Would it be the CSC that is stopping the app I want from installing, saying it is the wrong country?
If so, is there an easier why just to change the CSC? I have done some searching but everything I've found seems to be quite old and probably not working for Lollipop.

Try this to change your csc code:
1. type in the dialer *#06#, copy ur IMEI
2. type in the dialer *#272*IMEI HERE and add a #
IT WILL WIPE YOUR DATA

Thanks but that doesn't work. I get Unknown Application. I think that doesn't work on the S6. I also tried using Phone Info to change the CSC but that also doesn't seem to be compatible with the S6 even though it shows my firmware is multi-CSC.

Sorry but what do you mean do not let to install csc files? I did stop Odin auto-rebooting and went to recovery but that didn't seem to help. How do I stop it installing the wrong CSC files?
If I was willing to lose warranty now, would installing TWRP and maybe a custom ROM make it easier to change the CSC?

I am stuck in BNG csc code and i cant change it because i need to Trip KNOX, but i changed my csc code From ING to BNG.
- When odin finish flashing if Auto-Reboot option is ticked, your samsung will reboot and it shows a Android robot instaling something and later says Erasing... you cant let this happen, untick auto reboot and you need to reboot your galaxy in recovery mode and it will show CSC Check Failed and you have to wipe data and shutdown your device and enter in download mode and reflash the firmware.It worked for me.
if you trip knox and you install twrp it will be easier because you can install a custom rom and change your csc code rooted.

Thanks for all the advice. I am away for a few days so cannot risk reflashing my phone until I get back home. Will try again then.

Successful flash of SM-G920F - Anyone

OK, no matter what method I try I am unable to achieve a successful flash of my phone. I have tried it via odin with many different firmware versions but all seem to fail almost immediately. The only way to resolve this is to use samsung switch and reset phone to stock. The problem is stock firmware is german vodafone full of vodafone bloatware, I want to get rid of it and flash a UK unbranded firmware but no matter what I do I am unable to achieve this. I can see from the forum that there are many people out there with the same flashing problem but with no real responses on how to achieve the goal. There must be people out there that have achieved this task but don't seem to be offering up much help?

Is your phone international unlocked out of the box? I dont believe it was, because as far as I've read international unlocked phones come with "unbranded" firmware. The unlocked ones I know can be pretty much flashed with "any" international firmware, which is what you are trying to do.
If you dont know for sure. Odin the stock German Vodaphone. Let the phone boot. Boot back to stock recovery, then factory reset and clear cache.
Then let the phone boot...Download phone info app by vndnguyen (free version is fine)...Open the app, go to CSC Code tab. Then that will tell you the active CSC code and your firmware CSC code...you are looking for the line that says Available CSC Codes. If it only lists German Vodaphone (VD2), then I believe you are stuck til the phone is unlocked.
Anyone, jump in here if I'm mistaken. I am using this as reference as, I've checked my G920F. Mine is unlocked tho and I can flash any firmware from any region with no problem. Hopefully I've answered your question.

I had no luck with the firmwares on the firmware page either.

Basic process is:
Download the above file, extract, there should be 4 files inside (AP,BL,CP,CSC), simply select each one to go in the relevant box on ODIN, then go into download mode on your phone and click start...
N.B. Be aware that the above firmware contains a PIT file which will reformat and resize the partitions on your phone, so make sure you have a copy of the stock firmware that works before trying the flash (i.e. the one which Smart Switch downloads). You can grab it from your windows %TEMP% directory during the smart switch download (it first downloads a file to TMPxxx, then extracts it into a directory of the same name, its these files you want. They should be the four files beginning with the type of ODIN file you are flashing (AP,BL,CP,CSC). The files get deleted after the firmware has flashed so make sure you watch the process. If things go wrong you can re-flash these files via ODIN

As far as I was led to believe and when I purchased the phone it did state factory unlocked. I was able to put in any sim when I received it and didn't have to go through any aftermarket unlock process?

Just type in %TEMP% into you windows explorer address bar and it will take you there. arrange by date modified and you will see the size ticking up during the download, before the flash starts it will extract into a folder with the same name, the md5 files can be grabbed from there

I flashed BTU firmware on my 920F international unlocked that came with UAE firmware without any problems. Idk

Ok, Got it this time, all four files. Will give the method above a go and if it fails at least I've got the stock firmware to fall back on?

Magic, have had great success. Now on the BTU firmware and everything is up and running. Got the stock as well just in case but if this continues to work won't be reinstalling stock. So a big thanks to those who helped

Any way to get VoLTE working with international phone?

I bought an s8+ from HK which is the dual SIM Snapdragon version (G9550). Using it here in Australia, everything works as expected as it supports all of our bands, however VoLTE does not work. I've read this is because the CSC does not match a local CSC.
Unfortunately there are no Snapdragon versions sold here, hence no firmware with the Aus CSC (XSA) that will support VoLTE (as I read you can't flash the Exynos ROM onto the Snapdragon).
Is there any way I can enable VoLTE? Can I somehow change the CSC without an official ROM? Like go into the G9550 ROM and replace the CSC with the Aus CSC?
The only other region with the Snapdragon is the US from what I can tell, which probably wouldn't enable VoLTE either.
Any advice is appreciated

You may root and then flash your csc zip (or simply replace the CSC files in the custom rom with your CSC files). You should get VoLTE. Download Multi CSC file from here and extract your csc.
I do the same but with India CSC on USA snapdragon models.

Thanks nimms. This is pretty much exactly what I was after, except I cannot root the phone (work required Knox so I can't trip it ). I was hoping I could do somthing like the above, only via Odin, but it sounds like you can't change the CSC without rooting the phone due to making system changes.

As far as I'm concerned, this is not possible without tripping the Knox counter. And if you try flashing the XSA CSC (via Odin), you will definitely soft brick your phone

ims setting. maybe can fix your issue ,just download a hidden app display. then you can open ins setting

Odin won't even flash it, It's pretty hard to soft brick this phone with official tools and firmware.

Odin won't flash it but if you try to flash it and after that you reboot, you will stuck at download mode. Only by flashing the correct files, will make it boot

Another question...the only difference I've noticed between the 9550 (HK) and 955U (US) is that the US version does not have Band 28 but the HK version does, which we do use here in Aus.
If I flashed a US firmware (which has the same S835 SoC), would I lose Band28, or would the modem still be able to use it?
EDIT: what if I only flashed the CP file (modem), is this interchangeable between the different SoCs? Could I flash the XSA CP (modem) onto another ROM, or will this soft-brick?

My IMS is saying "Not registered" in the about phone. I can't seem to do anything about it, and the hidden menu doesn't give me the option to change it.

IMS setting is located explicitly on "Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names"
The best bet you may try is to find a Samsung phone thats currently in VoLTE then copy IMS apn settings onto you phone (you manually input the settings).

MY Galaxy S8+ SM-G9550, SW - G9550ZHU2AQL2

Just download an official ROM (A variant from a country that supports VoLTE) for ur model from sammobile or u might even find it on the xda forum and flash it via odin with Home CSC.
It works well... No need to root n KNOX counter wont be tripped...
PS: Backup data.. They will be lost in the process.

Now we're talking about ADB, not ODIN or TWRP.

Right, My bad... I missed the international part itself...
But as far as i know, Exynos CSCs also dont go with the Snapdragon CSCs... I could be wrong.

Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 UAE Version Volte Issue In India

Has anyone succeeded in enabling volte for this model. Especially in India it doesn't work with Reliance Jio simcard.
Can someone advice about this?

I imagine you need to change your phone CSC's. To do that you need a PC with Windows and an internet connection (you need Latest Odin3 and Samsung USB Drivers), your Galaxy A8 with its USB-C to USB cable, latest official firmware for your model and csc and the Factory Firmware tar for your phone and with correct bootloader rev (to know what's your current bl rev download "Phone Info ☆Samsung☆" app from Play Store and check your Bootloader version inside it, the bootloader rev is after the phone model number and fw country/type; ex. A530FXXU3):
- A530F Rev 1
- A530F Rev 2
- A530F Rev 3
- A730F Rev 1
- A730F Rev 2
- A730F Rev 3
If you downloaded and installed all the needed, do a backup of all your data and files, then follow those steps:
1. Boot your phone in Download mode
2. Open Odin3 as Administator, go in "Options" tab and enable Auto Reboot and Re-Partition, then click on the AP button and select the COMBINATION tar file you downloaded previously
3. Connect your phone to your pc and click the Start button in Odin3, flash should start
4. You phone now should boot in Factory Firmware. Select IMEI option at the bottom of the screen to bring up the dial pad, then dial *#243203855#
5. Select your new CSC code (in your case INS) and wait for it to install and reboot
6. Wait for phone to reboot and do a Factory Reset in Settings app
7. Reboot to Download mode again and setup Odin3 like before
8. You now need to flash your official firmware, so put all the tars from the firmware you downloaded on their section (AP inside AP, BL inside BL, CP inside CP and CSC inside CSC)
9. Connect back your phone in your pc and click Start in Odin3
Your phone should now be back to the Stock Firmware and with the correct CSC set, to check it go inside Settings>About phone>Software info>Service provider SW ver. and check if the first CSC sales code matches the one you choosen previously.

Thanks for your detailed reply. Unfortunately there is no official INS firmware available for this model as it's not been launched in India. I tried flashing it with other countries firmware but it didn't work. Is there any other way?

You can try to flash A530F AP, BL, CP tars with A730F INS CSC tar. If it doesn't works you unfortunately need to root your device to install the correct csc in system (the guide I explained before is for non-rooted devices)

It's like one month we are behind it actually lol, but since recently you can finally root safely your device with flashing my TWRP 3.2.3+Magisk v17.1. Would suggest to flash my custom kernel also (MCK), but I wanna suggest to wait till' next version comes out since there will be a lot of under-the-hood improvements over the current version (v1.2)

As I said previously, you need to set the correct CSC sales code in your device in order to get the features you need for your country/SIM. To do that you can follow the guide I wrote above or, if you're rooted, you just can edit the "/efs/imei/mps_code.dat" file and replace the current CSC with the one you prefer.

Just to say I on honk Kong but I modified a USA s8 csc and I have had voltie working.

My mod would only work on t.mobile USA.

I bought a8 2018 from indonesia unlocked but VOLTE is not working in India. Any suggestions on how to get VOLTE working?

Question Secure check failed: PIT during firmware flash via Odin.

I bought the S22 ultra Korean version with KT branding. I really don't like their bloatware.
I downloaded the non-branded Korean firmware (KOO) and also the non-branded US firmware (XAA).
I tried to flash both using Odin but no luck. It continuously shows the "Secure check failed: PIT" error.
What am I missing?
My first priority is to flash the US non-branded firmware. Both of the models are Snapdragon. So, is it possible to do so?(2nd question)
Original Baseband: S908NKSU1AVCH
Downloaded Korean Baseband: S908NKSU1AVCK_S908NOKR1AVCK_KOO
Downloaded USA Baseband: S908U1UEU1AVC8_S908U1OYM1AVC8_XAA
Odin: 3.14.1

update: Finally successfully flashed Korean non-branded firmware. But CSC didn't change. It is still KT branded one. What did I miss?

You have to look for chimeratool or Samkey to change csc.

did you flash the CSC file ? or just the AP

I used all the four files (BL, AP, CP, and CSC). I didn't use HOME_CSC, used CSC instead.

Sorry, I didn't try Samkey or chimeratool. Is it possible to change CSC by flashing the ROM via odin?

well usually, you can choose to just flash the csc on its own, i dont know why its not working without insulting you with questions like "is usb debugging" enabled lol

Haha, there is nothing to get insulted about. We, humans, are prone to make silly mistakes. I didn't make this mistake this time maybe.
Checklist:
1. USB debugging enabled
2. Samsung driver reinstalled
3. Downloaded Odin's latest version
4. OEM lock disabled
5. Bootloader lock enabled/disabled (tried both).
I was able to flash the firmware once but didn't change CSC. But don't know why.
Then I tried to flash the firmware again but didn't work. It fails to write. Tried more than 20 times with different configurations but no luck.

have you tried the patched versions of odin ? check my thread "here" for links

Thank you for the patched app. If I used patched Odin, will it trigger Knox?
And can I flash US non-branded firmware to Korean branded phones?
Both are single sim snapdragon phones.

i would assume so, but you know what presumption did......... if its a stock rom i dont think it will trigger knox, aslong as its an unmodified official release firmware you should be ok

I have tried using patched Odin. But it's stuck at Setup Connection.

the only other thing im thinking is maybe there is an error in the download, back in the day they used to come with md5 checksums, they dont seem to now, how confident are you the download isnt corrupted ? have you tried to extract it to see that it unpacks properly

Finally, I was able to flash using Odin. The problem was I tried to flash the US version first which returns with PIT error. But then I tried to flash Korean ROM without restarting the phone. Which caused the problem. But if I flash with a fresh start inside download mode, it works fine.
But the pit error problems are still there for the US ROM. Is there any way to flash US ROM on Korean model?

ive only ever owned australian and uk devices, so i couldnt tell you with any certainty, but one would assume if its the same chipset / processor the region of the rom shouldnt make any difference

Yes, I assumed that too. But seems like Samsung added some extra layer of security for different pit files. I tried many ways to flash US firmware. But, it always says "Secure check fail: pit".

However, I was able to flash KOO ROM a few times but it didn't change the CSC. My phone still remained KT branded.
I tried to cleared cache and did factory reset before booting and after flashing, but no luck.
