I'm on TMO S22Ultra converted to U1 and I am now noticing these faint black flickers in both front and back cameras... Anyone else have these? The pictures come out fine as far as I can tell but it's kind of annoying when trying to take pictures. It's worse in the preview in messages I noticed as well.
No problem with my TMO S22 Ultra on U. Mine is a 21GB/256GB version.
when you change to U1 (unlocked) be sure to run the correct software version, or it may run into issues.
check the hardware (a rough diagnostics) using the samsung members app > get help > diagnostics.
or you could reproduce and report the issue to samsung members app > get help > error report for software evaluation.
I figured it out, I'm an EMT and for some reason the lighting in the back of the ambulance creates black flickers on my camera, after my shift out of the truck camera is perfectly fine. Opened up my camera today in the back with the cab lights on and the flickers were back

that is crazy~~~ never would have thought of the ambulance light causing this.
Yeeeee it's the interior dome lights I'm not sure what it is about them but it causes some sort of lens anomalies

So, I received it yesterday and am very happy with it. Can't wait for the dock which comes Friday.
Anyhow, I've noticed several small blue spots (pixel sized) in the front facing camera. It is not the display or rear facing just the front facing. The spots do also who in captured pictures.
Trying to decide if i should try to return it or if I can sit on it for a bit. Hopefully I can make a claim on it in a few weeks when they are actually possible to get your hands on without 3am notifications.
Anyone else with this issue?
I have never noticed a problem with any pink spot on my camera (recording or pictures) and I have owned the phone for about 6 months. Yesterday and today I noticed a clearly visible pink spot in the center of the phone. I was filming at the beach and I could clearly see it. It was very bright out but I know ive been in similar conditions and never had a problem or at least it was not as visible.
Not sure what to make of this issue. I did update to the latest update that T-Mobile has pulled for now but I never noticed it after the update but now I can really notice it. I love this camera and I use it regularly for my Youtube channel.
I would appreciate any information or feedback. If you would like to see an example of what I am talking about it is located on this video ( bright lighting conditons) :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MExfsTTMVA
Also the one from the day before located here ( dimmer lighting conditions) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F574TME0hn0
Are there any suggestions?
Anyone else notice this problem?
what are you talking about? i don't see anything wrong in the videos
If you look close you can see it..... Its there.... First link look 0:40 to 0:45 also other places...
Second video link look 0:30 to 0:35
Its clearly there
...it doesn't look that noticable to me...but if it really bothers you take it to a tmobile store and get a $20 warranty exchange
I live in Ireland and I purchased the phone new from Ebay.
There is obviously a problem with the camera as you can notice. I did the editing on these videos to try and cut out the spot as much as possible but there is clearly a problem.
Has anyone else had an issue?
If you google pink spot camera problem you will notice it is an ongoing issue with many phones but I was unaware of this problem affecting MT4GS.....
pink shot
Avoid lacking the light, and never use auto white balance mode when capturing image. Hope can fix your problem
Hi all XDA'ers.
Anyone notice the if you slowly rotate your S6 the camera bit under the glass moves?
Is this normal?
Optical illusion?
I checked mine. It doesn't move, but if I stare at it too long and turn the phone towards different lights I 'though' it was moving....but it wasn't
You are going crazy!
There are pills for that
I find this funny ?
Sent from my XT1526
What can I say....
Nice reply guys....
I guess its because I am an aerospace factory inspector with a scope for visually checking parts I noticed this!
It definitely moves, if you gently tap phone when it on its back and slowly rotate S6 so back is facing you it moves!
Its normal, The S5 did it as well... There was a massive scare a year ago when someone put out the S5 had a faulty rattle in its camera when shaken, even ringing Samsung themselves, they said.. No its a fault. As it turned out, when you booted the camera on the S5, the rattle stopped.. In the end, it turned out the so-called rattle was the focusing unit, which locked when the camera booted up.. and not even Samsung tech support knew that one, so if it does move, its probably that or it could be the IOS, because my Lumia 1020 had it as well, which was the unlocked IOS berarings moving around.
Never keep shaking your phone to test it either.. youll break the unit.

Has anybody got an issue with their proximity sensor? Mine seems to be misbehaving randomly after the 8.1.0 update. Last day the phone was stuck after a call and had to reboot. Is this a known issue? Are there any fixes yet?
Nope, no issues here. Please describe when and how your sensor is not working properly?

It just doesn't work. The screen mostly doesn't turn off and when it does it doesn't turn back on.

You mean while on a phone call with the phone pressed to your ear?
Do you have a screen protector?

So I had this problem. I tried all the solutions I could from the Google Forums and the Google Pixel 2 help support themselves. I discovered that the 8.1 update broke the proximity sensor. So I just received my replacement. Some people "claim" that taking off the screen protector works, but I was skeptical because the phone worked with the screen protector on when I was running 8.0 (Moreover, as I transferred the SAME screen protector onto my replacement running 8.1, the replacement works to perfection. I also played around with my previous Pixel 2 XL after resetting the phone and the proximity still does not work, even without the screen protector). You can go to the Google forum (under the calls link, because my assumption is that calling on any app on your phone just leaves you with a black screen) and test out all possible solutions. If none work, just call Google and explain the problem and ask for a replacement :good:. Hope this helps, man.

Thanks, man! I know the issue is not the screen protector even though they claim so.
Okay, this is what you need to do. Buy airduster and nicely blow air over the top speaker. Not sure this phone is dust proof. There seems a small gap between the lower edge of the speaker grill and phone screen. You can test by yourself, take a paper the edge of paper goes for a mm or so. Use air duster few times and your proximity sensor works. I think it's not software problems, seems this pixel 2 xl has serious quality control. Google needs to recall this phone!!
Sounds logical, because I can turn my screen on and off by bringing a metallic pen near the sensor and away from it, so if you get metal particles in that little "slot" by the speaker, they'd probably affect the sensor. (Especially if they were magnetized - and a lot of seemingly "where id it come from" dust is actually from construction projects. [We used to rent two way radios to construction companies, and they came in about once a week with "dead" speakers - it was tiny steel particles loading the speaker up to the point that the cone couldn't move - and they traced a sample back to a particular steel beam - that the phone had been near when some rivet holes were drilled in it.]) So keep the phones away from cities that have hi-rise construction projects in progress. (This phone is designed for use on a different planet - using a USB 3.0 port and a USB 3.0 cable to flash a ROM bricks the phone. I'm surprised that it's not allergic to air too.)
I can make the sensor revert back to far from near by pressing gently the top bezel next to lateral edge of the speaker grill on left side. Sensor reverts back to far from near. Don't know the mechanism and definately doesn't look like software issue.
June security update has just fixed this for me
Does anybody else notices that the foto's taken lately are not sharp anymore on their note? I think it came with the latest software updates definitely foto's have gotten worse just not sharp anymore when zooming and focus issues
I also have one brand new unboxed snapdragon version with similar results so it must be software !

I've noticed it too. I thought I just had smudges on the back of the glass or something, but it has happened way to often now. It happens even after I thoroughly clean the glass or if too much sunlight hits the lense.
However, I've noticed that if I switch to a different camera mode, like going from portrait to photo and then back to portrait, the lense seems to finally focus and usually I'll lock onto the subject and the photo is sharp again.
I usually notice the lack of focus when I'm in portrait mode starting off, right after opening the camera app. It does happen from time to time opening the app, starting in photo mode too, but not nearly as often as starting in portrait mode. This is on a Verizon Note 20 Ultra Snapdragon variant.
I read a few forums and came across one comment where a man says he had the same problem and was told at the service station that his camera module had broken down. He made a camera module in service and now there is no more problem with that ... my licbo opinion is that everything is related to a software error...
Only way I can solve it is shut off the auto stability. On everything. Antishake. I've been messing with it complaining for months

How does one make a camera module?
Has there been any movement on this?
I have a Note 20 Ultra, and I've noticed that my main camera does not focus anymore. I cannot get a sharp picture of text or my kids, or anything that's less than about 20 feet away. If I move back far enough and then zoom in, the telephoto lens can focus better.
Another test - the barcode scanner in Walmart/Target apps cannot focus on a barcode either.
I suspect this is hardware failure of the main camera. It can't focus anymore.
Does anyone have any experience fixing this?
I bought the phone "eBay Refurbished" and it came with a 1yr Allstate (SquareTrade) warranty... but that has been a mess so far, too.
There's a new option, can't remember where, that supposedly processes your images. Think AI moon debacle. Turn it off and take it raw.
I think it's activated by default after the update.

FWIW... I can't get it to focus even BEFORE I take a photo. So, it's not post-processing or anything that's messing up.
Additionally... the Walmart, Target, Amazon (etc) apps that have barcode scanners can't focus on a barcode to scan them most of the time, either.
Before I make a claim on my phone insurance and end up with a non-OEM camera replacement... I want to eliminate any possibilities that it's something software-related.
Thanks
That is odd, if it can't focus and it's not post processing it's a hardware issue. I have no problems with them right now. If you shake the phone near your ear do you hear the OIS rattle ?
Seems a warranty claim right there, it sure as hell is not software if it can't focus beforehand.
