General Android 12 "RETAIL* ver - Motorola Moto G100 / Edge S

Notice Android 12 under the *RETAIL" folder. Link below. What is RETAIL? Who is is for. I'm guessing it's safe to try?
lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.

It means that Android 12 is already being gradually implemented for our Moto G100 XT-2125. Now it remains to wait for it to reach each specific model.

From what I can tell, there are literally only 2 iteration's of this phone, and even then, the hardware differences between the 2 phone has something to do with GPS, it is negligible. So, therefore IMHO, firmware should be fairly universal except for bloat - any thoughts?
Also, anyone specificlly know what "RETAIL" stands for? is there a specific region?

Update: I got the answer

RETAIL - boots as cninese - FYI and I am unable to change the boot language to english, so of no use to me

I installed it but 5g didn't work. It shows 4g+
Also, there's an option to disable the sim. But if you do so, couldn't find a way to reenable it other than taking it out and putting back again.
However, everything else seemed very good.

retail global version installed on my moto edge s 5G, chinese version, a chinese version A12 has not arrived yet, waiting to return to my stock rom

I'm from the United States my Moto g100 model number is xt2125-4 code name Nio and the firmware version I have is North American retail. The g100 version I have doesn't have any bloatware because the only way to get this phone is to buy it directly from Motorola USA. And that's what retail means it means you bought it directly from Motorola or the company and not a cell phone carrier. My model only has 8 gigs of RAM 128 gigs of memory has NFC a dedicated Google Assistant button and a fingerprint scanner on the side. Here in America it's kind of a unique phone. Because it's the only phone that's designed and sold on the American market that has a dual SIM tray. And you have the option instead of using a second SIM card I can put in an SD card

Chrome Tab Layout Issue

Hello there! I recently acquired a 3rd generation Moto G. However I've run into a few issues. My tab switcher appears to be stuck in "accessibility" mode; a weird tab switcher that uses the old holo UI. Here is a picture of the problem:
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I checked chrome://flags and the accessibility tab switcher setting is not even on. Toggling on/off doesn't seem to change anything.
I also have no animations for opening the drop down menu, or opening the tab switcher. Pressing any of the UI buttons simply instantly opens the menu, as if I had battery saver on (which I don't). I've tried the dev and beta versions of chrome, and they also exhibit the same problems. Clearing cache, reverting to the factory version of chrome, etc... all don't seem to fix the issue.
I am running Android 5.1.1, with chrome 44.0.2403.133.The phone is the 1gb RAM/8gb storage version. I did some other research and found someone who had the same problem a few years ago, but on a Samsung phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490353
Please help!
I'm really surprised there are no replies to this thread. We can't be the only two people with "Merge tabs and apps" turned off.
I'd like to know if this issue is present just on the 1GB models or all 2015 models?
Running an XT1540 here with the latest 5.1.1 firmware from Bell.

Thank you so much for posting - I was beginning to think that I was the only one in the world with a bugged phone!
I actually purchased the phone at Best Buy in the states, but I am using it in Canada. Do you think that has anything to do with the issue?

I highly doubt it has anything to do with *where* you operate the phone.
It's likely a firmware or Chrome specific setting for 1GB devices running Lollipop.
It's good to know you purchased yours in the US and have this issue. I can rule out it being specific to Bell issued firmware.

Yes, that's what I thought as well. The accessibility tab switcher was originally meant for low memory devices, so I'm assuming something got triggered in chrome and flagged our Moto Gs as low ram offenders.
Kinda funny, given how chrome runs just fine on more budget orientated devices like the Moto E, but gives up on the newest Moto G!
i have noticed the same problem the 1st day i have used chrome.. i just installed firefox .. as i dont use chrome which lacks in addons
I went ahead and opened a ticket with Chromium: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=525745
It would be nice to verify if 2GB users are also affected.
The issue should likely be raised with Motorola/Lenovo as there's another bug ticket that may be related:

I can confirm that my 2GB Moto G3 16GB is NOT affected.
hope your issue gets solved.:good:
I remember someone said something about Moto G 1GB model having a low ram parameter enabled in build.prop. Chrome may be using this to conserve memory. I have 2gb and don't have this issue.
v8s10 said:
In the build.prop, ro.config.low_ram=true If set to false chrome tab layout is normal, tried it on my 8gb/1gb ram model. Do so at you're own risk, i have no idea if editing this will cause any other problems, working fine for me so far...ymmv.

Find Out ORIGINAL Firmware

How would I find out what the original firmware was on the s8 plus, due to the no service message and me not being able to use the phone I have flashed all Different CSC files,,, either way it didn't work... I was sold a dud phone I suppose...
meaning no service as in? you put your sim card in and it does nothing? usually if the phone is carrier unlocked and you put your sim card in, a message will pop up saying to reboot your phone to get all the carriers features....click okay, the phone reboots and do a factory data/reset and you should be good to go. Installing CSC is carrier services. Did you try flashing all firmware? What model is it? G955U,G955W,G955F,G9550,ETC......? if you can boot into the UI go into settings/about phone/software version look if you see something like G955USQU1AQGL (bootloader 1 hence U1AQGL) or G955USQU2AQK2 (BOOTLOADER 2.... 2AQK2).
When I put the sim card it it allows me to pick Sim 1 or Sim 2... it finds the Carrier LYCA but underneath says unknown

You have an Exynos 8+? If so I'd re-flash the OEM software for your region. Or with a US version if it is the 'other' type 8+. Then you can more straight forwardly ensure you have the 'correct' OS and a proper regional CSC.
If you have a local carrier phone shop have them check your phone to ostensibly 'hook you up' with their carrier service, so they'd need to check/test the phone for active service ability first. Then I think/hope you'd know if the SIM/hardware were working, and rule out ditching the phone. Or a local phone repair shop, if any are around. It's just a check, so if you had to pay, it ought to be very cheap, given you have a clean phone with OEM OS.
I can feel the frustration in your experimenting.
As far as 'telling' what your original phone 'was', I'm not sure. I think when I flash over mine, if I flash all four Odin packages, it changes my phone from it's original G955 to a, with it's current ROM, a N950, based upon Phone Info, CSC Carrier, etc and what info they show me.
I'm not sure if there is an app that can read the hardware and tell you what 'version'/model (OS) your phone was set to originally. I am thinking no, at this point.
Maybe someone will stop by and let us know definitively.
Might have to take it to a phone repair shop and see what they say... I have already XSA Australian firmware on it I even tried the Telstra and Optus but it gives me same results... I'm thinking can it be because the sin tray is single sim with memory, I have purchased a tray with SIM 2 and sim 2 but still waiting for it... but I do t think that's going to make a difference

I don't think the sim tray will make a difference. It's the stock one that came with the phone?
I'm interested in what you find out. Please post up what you discover.
Everything works WiFi, videos music player just no service even flashing multiple csc files didn't do the trick strange I was told it was an overseas model from a phone shop when I took to get the frp lock off spent 100$ for nothing haha...
The sim tray is original but single sim not dual SIM scanning up this phone it comes up as G955FD
Could it be because Knox was tripped it says Knox warranty good 0×1 on the phoneinfo app
My Knox is tripped when I rooted the phone. Working fine on Cricket, though I have a new Cricket story...
I put it in safe mode but still no good, I have put it up for grabs on eBay I think I lost majority of my hair working on it haha

Unable to Connect to Cellular Network

I have an issue with my Galaxy S7 (Verizon), such that it won't connect to the cellular network, and will only text via Wifi. It's almost like the cellular radio is dead, as the icon is grey with an "x", and it can't even make 911 calls. It worked fine for a few months though, and just one day began acting like this. There has been no physical damage to it.
Phone
------
Samsung Galaxy S7
SM-G930V
Android 7.0
Build NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQK4
Things I have tried
------
Made sure there are other Verizon phones nearby getting service
Rebooted phone multiple times
Reset network settings miltiple times
Factory reset phone
Checked IMEI: Clean
Ran the Verizon - Samsung Repair Assistant / Software Upgrade Assistant
Flashed the newest (and oldest) firmware from sammobile.com
Tested two different SIM cards in the phone, and tested those two in other phones (they work). Spoke to Verizon to activiate the SIM cards.
I'm really at a loss, and don't want to drop a few hundred dollars for another phone. Has anyone encountered something like this, or have any ideas? I'm happy to give more details about the phone and its software.
I also have this problem with my Verizon S7 G930V.
with baseband version: G930VVRS4BQI1
but it is reading signal strenght
It's frustrating because the phone was fine for months, and it's not like I dropped it or physically hurt the cell radio somehow. If a software update broke the connection, i was hoping all the resets and flashes I tried above would fix the issue, but to no avail.
Can you post a screenshot of your mobile data settings under setting>Mobile and networks.
And are you trying to call 911 with inserted sim card ?
And when you update to nougat the problem comes ?
Can't call 911 with or without SIM card in (the network icon is always greyed out.
I believe the problem is independent of my Android version. I flashed the most recent version of Marshmallow from sammobile.com and the issue remained.
I can't seem to post images yet, but In my settings, it shows no signal (-120dBm 99asu). I am unable to change network mode from global to anything else. (like LTE\CDMA). I suspect it is hard-coded that way in the firmware. That is all the information there besides access point names, which I am able to alter.

Take it to a phone repair shop.

I'm new to flashing, but I used the PrinceComsy Odin version and just loaded the appropriate files. It says the flash passed with no errors.
I did misspeak above though. I've tried various versions of Android 7, but was not successful with 6.

Is it possible the phone has been blacklisted?

Reason to Root Fold 2

I have an unlocked Fold 2 from Samsung. I love the idea of rooting and having full access/control over a device I own, but it has been years since I rooted a phone. Recently my needs have changed and I find I am thinking about rooting again. Just curious if the below reasons are worth rooting and if rooting will even help or would I need to root and load a a custom rom?
1st I need to disable the 5g radio on my phone. I live and work in an area with poor 5g coverage, but have just enough that the phone can see it and try's to default to it and ends up providing far worse connectivity than the LTE that is steller in my area. AT&T is who I use and they have disabled this feature in their portion of the firmware. I can plug in a buddies T mobile sim and after reboot have access to the menu that allows me to pick LTE and my preferred connection type but not on AT&T.
2nd This is less of a concern as I have work arounds, but I would like to remove any and all carrier control of my device. In particular their ability to monitor and dictate how I use my data, i.e. wifi/BT/usb tethering. Like I said I have a work around but its fiddly.
3rd I would like to be able to run full weight cellular diagnostic tools on my phone as well as have full access to the USSD dialer codes.
Can these things be done after rooting and or loading a custom rom, in particular on the Fold 2? I have been searching for a bit, but can't seem to target my search to just this thread as I end up having to sort through a dozen other threads. I can work my way through rooting my phone and loading a rom, just curious which apps and or roms to look for once I have rooted. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Ok how about this. Can anybody point me to a location that can help me figure out how to removed carrier specific configurations once rooted? I want to disable my 5g radio on my fold 2. This is something that can be done when it has a T Mobile sim, but not an AT&T sim.

You should google harder dude
You could just Flash an international firmware of an un-carrier branded software, they can be found here - https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-z-fold-2-5g/firmware/#SM-F916B
Try this app - ESET USSD Control : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eset.securedialer&hl=en&gl=US
Disable 5G radio :
Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks : Change the network mode

Sorry about the googling... Could only find and confirm that it was locked on att phones. As I have an unlocked variant I was not sure why I was having that problem. Thanks for the tip on F916B I did not know I could load that on the F916U1, I will look more into that. But again I thought the F916U1 from Samsung was unbranded.
Thanks for the software link.

I have been an XDA Forums member for about 10 years and have enjoyed countless custom ROM on dozens of devices ... here is my opinion ...
In 2020 there is ZERO point in rooting a phone. Full stop. The end.
Edit: no point whilst the manufacturer is still providing software updates & support
Fair point... Is there a means by which I can manual control the radios in my phone without rooting? For example sending custom crafted AT commands to the radio to do things like IMSI masking, band switching, and most importantly band aggregation commands.

Everyone's mileage may vary but I stand by what is said ... For me, I see ZERO need to root on Samsung android 10 or 11
If you had asked me a few years back, what I would do with a brand new android phone out of the box and I would have said "root". I think the last phone I rooted was note 8, out of habit and that voided my warranty and I didn't gain anything in return... almost everything I used to do, can be done without root. Ad blocking via disconnect pro and netguard, to disable apps, use ccswe (as long as knox licence isn't revoked), youtube vanced to fine tune adfree youtube, naptime for putting device to quick deep sleeps, side actions to configure power button behaviour etc... these were probably the things I could have only achieved with root earlier.
I personally rooted my Samsung Fold 2 just so I can degoogle it. I cant stand big tech so for me it was worth doing

Question Google Maps Dark Mode theme option issue on Samsung s22 Ultra.

I have done everything I could including taking the steps to fix the fact that I never get the Theme option on Google maps on my device. Cleared cache, data, uninstalled updates, rebooted, updated to the latest versions everytime and still no Theme option. Is this just my bad luck or is this a thing going on for the S22 Ultra series?
It is not an S22 Ultra issue. I am having no problems toggling between dark and light modes. Mine is set to "same as device."
Check your "Navigation settings." About halfway(ish) down under, "Map display" you can change, "Color scheme." You should have a choice of, "Automatic, Day, Night." Automatic will change the theme according to what it senses while in navigation mode. To include switching to dark mode while in a tunnel.

Ok. A few more questions:
What version of Maps are you running?
What version of Google Play services are you running?
What S22 Ultra model do you have (i.e. SM-908U, SM-908U1, SM-908B, etc.)?
If not the U or U1 model, which country are you in or using it in?
The first two questions matter. I'm not sure how much the second two matter (if at all).
I am running v11.81.1502.

Your version of Google maps seems older than mine, which is 11.82.0301. Did your check if you have the option to update it via the Play Store?

Update your Google Play services. The latest is 23.21.57
It may take a couple reboots.
Did both today and still same issue.

Hmmm... Since you are on an S22 Ultra (U model), I'm assuming you are not rooted; which shouldn't make a difference. I am also assuming you are on the latest OS/Firmware that your carrier pushed (I'm on Verizon so it would be S908USQS2CWE1). I don't know what release version AT&T and T-Mobile are on.
Did you do any debloating? If so, it is possible that you accidentally de-bloated something that Maps needs. That is a wild ass guess; I may be reaching.
I don't mean to sound sarcastic. You managed to win the game of "Stump the Chump." Because I am stumped.
It's been like this since I got the device fresh out the box a year ago. Update after update of all things still no results so you and I both are stumped.
Just out of curiosity what is your Google Maps version saying when you look on the Play Store or when you go into the apps info?
This is what I'm showing:

Yep. That is what I have on mine. All I can say is, "Well f**K. Maybe call Google?"
