fingerprint sensor not working after screen replacement - LG Velvet Questions & Answers

Hi. After screen replacement the fingerprint not working on my lg velvet. I have an error: unable to use fingerprint sensor. contact a customer center
I tried # * 462633 * # 900 # but when I open "Optical FingerPrint Test" I don`t have the green button. And after start test I have only - pass button (but it don`t working)
What can be done?

If you did replace the screen yourself, you most likely mess something up. And I would think your best hope is to buy a new fingerprint sensor and install it.
If you had it repaired at a professional phone repair shop, go back there and demand it fixed.
In conclusion: The problem is most likely hardware-related, and the sensor needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the answer.
The screen was replaced at the service center, but not LG.
LG in my country does not support smartphones after model g8.
The service center told me that after replacing the screen, the fingerprint sensor on samsung and oppo stops working. These require sensor calibration with a calibrator. That's why I decided to clarify, maybe someone came across such a problem on LG.

Prepare two papers, one opaque white A4 paper, and one opaque blue paper
1: Clear the lock screen and restart the phone
2: Enter the engineering mode after booting (#*462633*#900#)
3: Select the device tset
4: Select SAAT
5: Select the service menu-manual test
6: Choose optical fingerprint test
7: Choose to start
8: Choose start again, "immediately cover the fingerprint position with opaque A4 paper"
9: Continue to select start, this time use dark blue paper to completely cover the fingerprint position
10: Use the thumb to completely cover the fingerprint position

Thanks for the answer.
This code for my velvet not working, but working #*462633*#900#
After I press the start button(in optical fingerprint test), it disappears and I cannot press it a second time.
The only thing I can do is when I hold down the power button, the pass button appears. If you click on the pass, nothing happens. It is impossible to exit the test after pressing the start button without restarting the phone.

or maybe whoever fixed it forgot to plug it back. its usually the last thing to do before placing the cover

I get it, but nothing changes after I cover the sensor with opaque paper. The start button does not appear.
It can be seen all the same I have problems with the hardware.
I tried it 5 times already and I had to restart my smartphone 5 times.

It may be a hardware problem. After repairing the screen of my phone, I did use this method to repair the fingerprint.

Ok, thought you meant android in general.

This issue is generally caused by drivers. If have not installed the correct drivers on your PC, then you may face this issue. Also, this may occur due to outdated drivers. You can follow our guide here to fix Fingerprint Sensor not working on your PC.

How to Bypass Activation Screen [LG Optimus Zone Verizon]

Simple Steps:
(NOTE: MUST RESTART PHONE DO NOT TOUCH OR CLICK ANYTHING)
1: Volume Up
2: Volume Down
3: Back Button
4: Home Button
5.) Enjoy
If this doesn't work PM me on XDA Developers Forum Site.
How can you get back to the activation screen after doing this?
Just in case anyone stumbles on this for the LG Optimus Exceed 2 like I did... this actually bricked the phone... it freaked out and rebooted (after bypassing the activation mind you) and then after the third time trying to reboot, complained about secure boot being violated, and now won't boot at all.
This worked for the Zone 2 as well.
Exceed 2 activation bypass no longer working??
I just got a new LG Exceed 2 Verizon. Tried the Vol up, Vol dn, back, home key sequence. No result at all. Watched youtube video and duplicated keys exactly. Make sure I was using the right back (bottom left) and home (bottom middle) keys.
Firmware change stop the activation bypass??

i just picked up my lg optimus verizon prepaid. i was able to bypass activation by using the vol up, vol down, back, and home button.
it didn't work for me at first but when i tried the sequence faster, it worked. try to do it as fast as you can.
also, the "home" button is the physical button that can actually press down. i was a bit confused about this.
best of luck!

Yup, after about 8 tries, it worked. I have no idea why. Did it the same every time without touching any other button. Tried many reboots. Perhaps it was timing, as I did get faster each time since I knew what I was doing!
BTW, I LOVE this device!!! Not using any of the cell capabilities, but as an Android device, it is wonderful. Just had to enable writing to the SD (kitkat had an issue here which you can google) and then had to move a lot of stuff to SD card since internal memory is limited.
Thanks
Worked like a charm the very first time I tried. Thanks :good:

Worked for me on the first try.
thx .. worked for me too
Just bought one. What's wrong with activation screen? Its not like i have to provide my credit card number. I don't know what happened to mine. I followed instructions to activate and then accidentally pressed canceled towards the end of the process. Then it took me to android initial setup screen. I entered google email, password, connected to network. I don't plan to use it as a phone and don't care for verizon. Just needed the phone. Not sure why activation screen needs to be bypassed. Let verizon assign a new number and plan. I don't care.
Awesome! Worked great! Thank you! :good: :good:
I just grabbed one of the Exceed 2s at Best Buy yesterday for $14.99. Unbeatable deal for a decent (expendable?) mini-wifi tablet!
Yep, just select "pay later" during the activation, then turn the cellular radio off.
This worked like a charm to bypass the Activation screen for the LG Exceed 2 that I just picked up from BestBuy.
You don't have to be a speed demon to get it to work, but you also can't be too slow or take your time with it. With any phone, when pressing any kind of key sequence for anything, you have to press each key within less than 1 second of each key press. Kind of similar to the old days of the nintendo when pressing in a key sequence to activate cheat codes and such. You couldn't be too slow with pressing them in, otherwise the cheat code (key sequence) would not work. The faster you are, the better, but you also don't have to be road runner about it either.
When you correctly finish the key sequence, you will get a pop-up that asks you if you are sure you want to exit the Activation menu. Obviously select yes. then your good!

I ordered one for $15 from Amazon. It arrived today. Your trick to bypass the activation screen worked like a charm. Thanks! Now I can use the phone as an IP camera as planned.
Would this work for the LG Ultimate 2 as well?
Will this work with a LG L3 phone?
I have the lg tribute 5 and this does not work because thers no back or home button. Any suggestions?
I thought the phones usually gave an option to skip the activation anyway?

[Q] Screen not working - what could it be?

Hello,
I was using the Photon Q, closed the slider, wanted to reopen it - but the screen did not turn on anymore. It didn't fall down, no water accidently came into contact with the phone but the screen was off. However, the phone was still working (I was able to call it) and when guessing where the unlock button on the screen is, I got the vibrating feedback. So obviously, there's something wrong with the screen.
However, it's not the cable connecting the screen with the device (which would have been the worst case scenarion according to CornholioGSM).
Any other suggestions or would you just try to replace the screen?
Thanks!
Ah: It's not a backlight problem, this has been tested, too.
Cheers!

Well... If I slide out the keyboard, the screen is instantly awake. I can feel it, as I can guess where the unlock button is and unlock the screen. Do you want me now to wait in order to let the screen go off again and then wake it up with a hardware button from the keyboard? And after that: how do you want me to test the magnetic sensor?
Thanks!

Programs/apps repeatedly switch between each other

Hey all,
Praying you can help as I'm soooo pissed at AT&T. So my wife's Galaxy S6 is only a 4 months old and for the last 2 months she has been dealing with this issue of her phone just randomly switching between apps and programs. For example her phone will just be sitting on the table and we hear a clicking noise (the same noise like when you text) so I look we look at phone and it's switching between messages, pandora, phone list etc. there is not set of apps/programs it chooses them at random. I tried shutting down some apps and no good. I called AT&T and they had me do a factory reset of the phone, no good. Took it to the store and they sent us to the service center for replacement. But when we got there they said there is water damage to the phone so we are SOL. Now i'm pissed, her phone has never been in water. She works at a hospital and when she comes home, all she does is wipe down the phone with a baby wipe and that's it. I tried to explain to them I understand where they are coming from but this is clearly a software issue. They are refusing to help us. I told them I work in the IT field and again it's clearly software issue or a lemon device, but they are hanging their hats on water damage of course.
So my question to you all, is there some way to roll back the software or to jailbreak it to fix this issue?
Has anyone seen or heard of this before?
Lastly I have this on video happening if anyone wants to see it i can text or email it to you.
Sorry so long....Thanks in advance,
Ryan
Sounds like screen issue whereby a portion of the screen believes it's being interacted with. Factory reset may be a good start. Backup anything you need to first of course!
Settings > Backup and a reset > factory data reset. Failing that it's a hardware fault and the vendor should advise where to get the device looked and and repaired. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply yeah we did that and no go. And like I said above they did tell us to go to the service center and they said cause the phone had water damage (which it was never in or around water) that they won't touch it.
You could try this:
Open the dialpad and dial: *#0*# to start "Testmode".
The test "Touch" will test your screen for touch events, just leave it, and see if something happens without you interacting.
Test "Sub key" will test all the hardware keys. The screen will change color if a key is pressed. Again, just leave it and see if the screen change color by itself.
Use doubletap on back-key to get back to menu.
Let us know the results.

Ok I tried what you told me. In "Touch" test the screen is white with a bunch of boxes that form a box with an X in it. I hear the phone clicking back and forth like it does when it's switching between apps/programs, but I do not see them switching on the screen like I normally do. Other than than nothing else happens. If I touch the screen the boxes turn green as I touch them. When I turn all the boxes green it takes me back to the main screen
In "Sub Key" test, the screen turns a mustard color and stays that way. Again I hear the clicking like it is switching between apps/programs but I don't see them I just see the mustard screen. If I hit the back key twice to return to the main menu the screen turns purple and then violet and then takes me back to the main screen
At the main screen, again I hear all the clicking but don't see the apps/programs I just see the main screen that appears after I put in the sequence you gave me.
There are many other options, would any of those help?
Thanks again!!
Ryan
Lastly it seems to happen far more frequently in this mode than when using the phone normally

Mustard color in sub key test means your app switching key (to the left of fingerprint key) is pressed down by itself. If all OK, screen stays black.

OMG awesome!! so now I know what the heck is going on!! thank you sooo much. Now is that something I can get fixed? I had a S4 a few years back and dropped it in water not once but twice. I had to take that phone apart a few times to cover it in rice and to replace a few parts (camera, mic, and antenna). Is this something I can do myself or can take somewhere and have someone do it or am I just SOL?
I would leave it to a pro, but if you feel comfy with disassembly of cellphones and have the right tools, go for it. Let us know how this ends.

"Force touch" home button stopped working?

An hour or so ago everything worked fine, and then I updated my playstores pending apps (only Fleksy was pending) and the "force touch" feature of the phones seems to have completely stopped working, no matter what setting I turned on or off it didn't work...
Anyone has a clue as to what can cause this?
General notes:
1. Using stock Exynos unlocked variant
2. I am using package disabler (which btw didn't improve much my battery life, but that might be just me using the phone too much ) so maybe one of the packages decided that it depends on a disabled one?
I noticed mine stops working after a reboot and takes about a minute or two to get back up and running. Try a restart after clearing caches, if nothing still, reboot in safe mode. If it works, then its an app you installed interfering.

Mine also stop working after I restart my S8 Plus, it will again work if I wait around 20 minutes. Is this software or hardware problem? Any solutions?
Wish mine would stop working permanently! can't stand that feature forever brushing across it and waking the phone up!

How does it act up on your part? Mine would just stop working if I restart the phone & I should wait sometimes hours before it would work again.
Every time i'm installing my phone in my car mount I need to hold the phone from the bottom to install it correctly and brushing my fingers across the bottom is constantly waking the phone up, I've lowered the sensitivity to it's minimum.

Unless your phone is unlocked no pins etc the phone will just go to the lockscreen, it's a useless feature, most people have the phones locked and thus it's a complete waste of time, it sounds to me the capacitive home button part of the screen was an afterthought because they couldn't install the fingerprint reader under the screen, just had a software update yesterday and still can't turn it off, basic stuff Samsung should enable an ON/OFF toggle switch for this.
Had the same problem with my S8 Plus India Variant(SM-G955 FD), I got my screen replaced from service center, Device was not rooted back then, so was under warranty.
But it is an hardware issue, as since then it has never gone off.
I mean when I press the home button hard it doesn't wake the phone up & no vibration. It happens when I restart the device then it would stop working for few minutes to a few hours sometimes, then it would start working again normally until I restart the phone again. I think this is just a software issue.

Proximity sensor

Good morning, i have a Note 20 Ultra exynos version and when i test the proximity sensor i have no response. It's possible ??
Thanks
yes, it is implemented differently. it works fine with apps that support it
What do you mean by "test"?
When you're on a phone call it should turn off the screen if you cover the sensor.
No if i cover the entire note the screen is always on.

Using the mic not in speaker phone mode?
If so it sounds like it's not working... phone screen should go dark when it's against your face on a call.
Try clearing the system cache on the boot menu, this may fix it.
Try it in safe mode for the off chance a 3rd party is the cause.
When i try with a call it seems to work but after two or three attempts the screen remain on also if i close the cover..

Not sure but that sounds like software.
You said cover as in a wallet case?
There may be a setting for that but if so I have no clue.
Doesn't sound like a normal operation unless it's a Samsung case and it's suppose to do that.
Don't think there's even a visible specific system apk for it. You could try clearing the Android Systems cache maybe data too but that may cause more trouble with lost settings... and end up worse off for the trouble.
On the note 10+ a small faint blinking circle is visible about a quarter inch to the right of the front cam cut out when the proximity sensor is active. Not flashing, not active.
If that helps you any...
Note: if it's active during a call and I trip it 2-4 times with a second or two spacing, the screen will remain off until I turn it back on.
This is normal operation.
Ok thaks a lot for your explanation..
I'm having the same issue which started today. Every time I put the phone up to my ear to place/ receive calls the proximity sensor isn't working and I'm pressing all random buttons accidentally with my cheek. I've turned my phone on and off to try to get it to work and no dice. It was working fine before today so I'm not sure what happened. I didn't drop my phone or anything. A google search showed this has been a problem since the S10 when Samsung embedded the sensor under the screen and dropped to turn on/ off this feature under call settings.
Advice anyone?
Try in safe mode. If it works there it's most likely a 3rd party app.
Was -anything- updated or just installed?
Did you change any settings?
Try a "hard" reboot and clear System Cache in boot menu.

No! Not a hard reset!
Hard reboot simulates pulling the battery...
I think I got it to work again. Hard reboot I guess according to google is pressing the “Volume down” and Power / lock key for 10 to 20 seconds bypassing the options shown on the screen until the phone turns off by itself. I then pressed the volume up key and the power/ lock key until the android recovery menu came up on the screen. I then chose "wipe cache Partition" and rebooted the phone after that.
It seems to be working again and hope this helps anyone who starts encountering this problem like I did.

Clearing the System cache can fix a lot of Android voodoo gremlins. I clear mine regularly or if the Android is acting erratically.
Hello
I am the owner of a Note 20 Ultra starting today.
I previously had a Note 10 Plus, where the proximity sensor showed as a blinking white light near the front camera.
At Note 20 Ultra there is no sign of its presence, no blinking light. Is this normal? Can the real owners check and confirm?
I also checked with secret codes:
Using *#0*# and selecting Sensor opens a menu where I cant find any proximity sensor
Using *#77692# opens a window with proximity and light sensor; for proximity sensor I turn on and wave my hand over the front camera area, it vibrates and turns display green each time, but after several attempts (7-8) it stops working.
So, is this normal? It has a new algorithm or type of sensor?
Please check and confirm.
Thank you

Its possible that there is no sensor, I have not done any research on this but it is possible to use front camera as proximity sensor. It would mean that the function would activate when you are on call and not on loudspeaker, it should not be tough to implement.
It has a discreet proximity sensor...

I have seen this article but it is useful only to locate the proximity sensor. But regarding how it is actually working, there are no details.
I was expecting something similar with Note 10 Plus but there was no blinking led/pixel to be found when having a call.
And honestly, I am not very impressed with its functioning. When using phone on left ear especially it skips activating many times.
Also, during a call (normally not on speaker), when I cover the top of the phone with my hand, the screen does not go black instantly (I must keep it covered about 3-4 seconds) but if I puck up the phone to my ear it seems to activate, which makes me think it has an algorythm that includes other sensors like gyroscope. Or maybe my proximity sensor is faulty... but as I said, if I test it with proper code, it seems to be present and work.... Which makes me thing it is a software problem.
So, I come back to my previous details and kindly ask other Note 20 Ultra users to replicate similar behaviour.
Thank you
My note 20 Ultra sensor works fine if the speaker is off. Turn the speaker on and the proximity sensor is disabled.
Try using this code in dialer.
*#77692# and then turn proximity sensor on and put hand over top part if it lits up green then it's working as it should. But if it remains white and nothing happens then there is an issue with sensor.
