How can you get back to the activation screen after doing this?
Just in case anyone stumbles on this for the LG Optimus Exceed 2 like I did... this actually bricked the phone... it freaked out and rebooted (after bypassing the activation mind you) and then after the third time trying to reboot, complained about secure boot being violated, and now won't boot at all.
This worked for the Zone 2 as well.
Exceed 2 activation bypass no longer working??
I just got a new LG Exceed 2 Verizon. Tried the Vol up, Vol dn, back, home key sequence. No result at all. Watched youtube video and duplicated keys exactly. Make sure I was using the right back (bottom left) and home (bottom middle) keys.
Firmware change stop the activation bypass??

i just picked up my lg optimus verizon prepaid. i was able to bypass activation by using the vol up, vol down, back, and home button.
it didn't work for me at first but when i tried the sequence faster, it worked. try to do it as fast as you can.
also, the "home" button is the physical button that can actually press down. i was a bit confused about this.
best of luck!

Yup, after about 8 tries, it worked. I have no idea why. Did it the same every time without touching any other button. Tried many reboots. Perhaps it was timing, as I did get faster each time since I knew what I was doing!
BTW, I LOVE this device!!! Not using any of the cell capabilities, but as an Android device, it is wonderful. Just had to enable writing to the SD (kitkat had an issue here which you can google) and then had to move a lot of stuff to SD card since internal memory is limited.
Thanks
Worked like a charm the very first time I tried. Thanks :good:

Worked for me on the first try.
thx .. worked for me too
Just bought one. What's wrong with activation screen? Its not like i have to provide my credit card number. I don't know what happened to mine. I followed instructions to activate and then accidentally pressed canceled towards the end of the process. Then it took me to android initial setup screen. I entered google email, password, connected to network. I don't plan to use it as a phone and don't care for verizon. Just needed the phone. Not sure why activation screen needs to be bypassed. Let verizon assign a new number and plan. I don't care.
Awesome! Worked great! Thank you! :good: :good:
I just grabbed one of the Exceed 2s at Best Buy yesterday for $14.99. Unbeatable deal for a decent (expendable?) mini-wifi tablet!
Yep, just select "pay later" during the activation, then turn the cellular radio off.
This worked like a charm to bypass the Activation screen for the LG Exceed 2 that I just picked up from BestBuy.
You don't have to be a speed demon to get it to work, but you also can't be too slow or take your time with it. With any phone, when pressing any kind of key sequence for anything, you have to press each key within less than 1 second of each key press. Kind of similar to the old days of the nintendo when pressing in a key sequence to activate cheat codes and such. You couldn't be too slow with pressing them in, otherwise the cheat code (key sequence) would not work. The faster you are, the better, but you also don't have to be road runner about it either.
When you correctly finish the key sequence, you will get a pop-up that asks you if you are sure you want to exit the Activation menu. Obviously select yes. then your good!

I ordered one for $15 from Amazon. It arrived today. Your trick to bypass the activation screen worked like a charm. Thanks! Now I can use the phone as an IP camera as planned.
Would this work for the LG Ultimate 2 as well?
Will this work with a LG L3 phone?
I have the lg tribute 5 and this does not work because thers no back or home button. Any suggestions?
I thought the phones usually gave an option to skip the activation anyway?

Did you do anything to the phone, in terms of modification? I was really interested in that thing, but having to do a hard reset on a brand new phone is a little disconcerting...
I tried installed everything that i had on my touch cruise
and everything was working superb.
Then this morning i installed HTC Home Plugin v2.1
and that hung my phone after i restart.
Now i've got no way on getting pass bootup screen.
A google search of "hard reset omnia" yielded this.

How awfully true..
Just got back from the service centre at Plaza Singapura.
Yup. Upgrade of software was the way to go.
The lady did say that the hard reset was the same as HTC,
pressing of the call and end button thingy but mine couldn't work.
Anyway, it was silly of me to go install the HTC Home Plugin.
Thx anyway bros for all replies..

turn your phone off, than press red and green buttons and after press phone on, you will get 2 options, 1 format: press phone on, 2 cancel: press phone off, in italy omnia this procedure is working.
It works man!!
Eureka!
Yes it does 2 x's now and one after a firmware update to version i900DXHK3/DXHK3 (Singapore). Which I did earlier today.
I had some how managed to put a pass I could not get right (how who knows).
After several attempts and finally an 8 min. mandatory wait. I did it. My final solution was that I had to wait and keep device awake for time to pass. 8 long agonizing minutes~!
1. Wait till reset timer is elapsed and devices is awake.
2. press both call and end button (ie green and red) I didn't press too light or hard just normal.
3. Push stylus on soft reset and within 5-8 secs eureka format screen.
4. hit call button.
This may not help every one but those with pass problems mab.
Hi everyone,
INTRO:
So the power button on my Nexus S broke. No big deal, I remapped it to the search button and used the volume rocker to wake the device; an option that was embedded in Cyanogenmod9.
Then I upgraded to CM10... since I did that on top of CM9, my volume rocker option was still enabled, but the option is no longer in CM10's GUI.
I had some annoying issue and thought maybe I should wipe my phone; which I did.
Sadly, I realized that my "wake using volume rocker" option was no longer enabled, and there is no GUI to turn it back on.
I then found a .zip package that was supposed to enable the option but, I guess I went too fast, now my phone is stuck on a bootloop.
THE PROBLEM:
Since my power button is broken, I cannot navigate in the fastboot menu to recovery and fix the ROM.
Worst, since the power button is somehow shorted (i.e.: it powers on automatically when I insert the battery) Fastboot is not working properly and my PC never sees my phone, so you can forget about fastboot boot recovery.img
So: boot loop, power button broke, no recovery, no fastboot. =(
I searched quite a bit and found out you could get the Nexus S in download mode and get it to work with ODIN using a USB JIG.
I made myself such a JIG and successfully put the phone in some kind of download mode where my PC sees it, fastboot devices yields nothing *but* ODIN sees the phone!
So a glimmer of hope except for the fact that finding the .tar files for the Nexus S seems impossible...
Thoughts? Suggestion? TIA!
Francis // XC3N
Oh BTW:
-Yes I saw the other posts, but none of them mention the odin files
-Yes, I know fastboot is better; but it's not working and:
-No, I can't see the device on 3 different PCs using 3 different OSes and 3 Different cables when in fastboot mode
I mean by that last line that *nothing* shows in device manager in Win7 or XP and *nothing* shows in lsusb on ubuntu
So unless someone has an idea it looks like Download mode is the only way my PC sees my phone...
My power button done the same thing, I googled around and found a solution that worked for me.
It's somewhere here on xda but I don't got the link, basically everytime I booted into the bootloader I couldn't move the cursor with the volume button because the phone thought I was holding the power button, so I carefully tapped the casing around the power button and rebooted the bootloader and eventually I had control, it took 5-6 attempts to get it going but it did fix the power button for me.
I think it's something to do with the micro switches giving out after a certain number of uses.
Also it started screwing about recently so I just blew into the casing through the power button and it's behaved ever since.
In short, tap it until it works, once you have control of fastboot plug the usb in and your pc should detect it
Hope this helps, Good Luck

Hey MuckyFox thanks for your reply!
Unfortunately, that would've worked back when the power button was flimsy and still working once in a while... I did try the tapping thing but really nothing works... the button seems entirely dead and shorted. I guess at this point I might've to bring it in for repair... if the power button isn't broken then I'll be able to easily fix everything in recovery or fastboot. Sucks because I feel like I'm so close to getting it to work without spending money XD I just can't find the files for odin even though they really do seem to exist.
Allright so I found some odin files which were said to work with the i9020a
I flashed them... at some point it said "RESET!" and then odin no longer saw the device. The device is now not booting at all. FML
So this thread is going to end up like every other similar thread: I went and bought a Galaxy Nexus ;P
For posterity, these are the files you shouldn't flash on i9020A:
BOOTLOADER : Bootloader_I9020XXJK1.tar
PDA : PDA_SOJU_GRH78_85442_SIGNED.tar
PHONE:
CSC : CSC_I9020_EUR.tar
My power button started failing over the last couple of days. First when I would set the phone to standby it would ask me if I wanted to switch off the device, then later on it wouldnt respond at all.
Really weird solution - boot into recovery, factory restore, clear dalvik cache, voila, works good as new! (aside from losing all my settings)
Note, I barely managed to get into recovery. The power button fully stopped working halfway through and I had to take the battery out and try it a couple of times.
Oddly, even during this uber-broken phase, the power button would always switch on the device when fully switched off (not just standby) indicating to me that it wasnt just a physical broken connection.
I've mentioned this before, but a full casing for the phone with all the buttons is around $10 on eBay

You need stuff for SOJUA, and just the fact CSC has EUR meaning Europe in it would scare the crap out of me. Possible you just flashed stuff meant for i9020T and not i9020A.

Hi all, This is my very first post.
I am facing some issue with my Galaxy R phone on my menu button.
I have been reading the forums for many tips. Here is a log of things which i have done to try to get the phone to work. Please bear with me as it is very long winded...
The phone is working fine and in early December, my menu button and back button decide to retire.
The Kernel is 4.0.x, Jellybean, I flash it about Nov 2011.
i) take out the case, screw, put back, key no response, unwittlgly i damage the phone speaker.
ii) day 2, the menu decide to work. but phone speaker spoil
iii) paste the screen protector, it stop working
iv)try to reinstall using CWM4.0.0.1, it don't work
v) Install button saviour, but it don't work until i need to root the phone.
vi) root the phone ( can't remember the version) button saviour work well
vii) try with custom rom, Avatar, it reboot within 4 hours, flash back to 4.0.
viii) try with Cyan Cm10.1 it work well,
ix) my replacement key and speaker stock from Ebay arrive.
x) speaker change out, I can finally hear voice from conversion.
xi) change out the menu key, take out the bezel and heat up the side, ( not an easy task, but i view Youtube many times to get the process right before trying) it is still the same, there is no response from my menu and return key,
Question 1. Do I have a bad display as in digitizer screen? My touch screen work well. Will changing a digitizer screen bring back my menu key?
Question 2. since i flash many times, clean cache in cwm. Do i have a bad mainboard? I
Should i live with the fautly menu button as I have button saviour installed or should i go on to find part to troubleshoot?
Regards
Arthur

Hi,
As far as I've ever known, a factory reset, or reflashing your stock or custom rom is the only way to get into the device now. That's exactly what the password is for, so no one can access your data. So any option to bypass the password involves wiping your data completely.
Sorry, but that's how it works by design.
Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.
Hi everyone, I'm throwing this out there because I've run out of ideas about what has just happened to my U12+ (64gb) today.
I woke up and used my phone as normal, caught up on Twitter and the news, the usual apps etc. nothing untoward. The same routine I've had with my phone for the past 18 months of owning it with zero issues. My handset is stock OS (Android 9) and so not rooted or anything like that. Virtually all the apps I use are standard issue from the Play Store, nothing really "out there" and I have BitDefender installed to look after security. Same setup I've had for over a year. The battery was around 35% so I plugged it into my wall charger while I went off to grab some breakfast. When I returned a couple of hours later the light on the handset was green, I unplugged the charger and attempted to unlock it with my fingerprint.
The phone asked for my PIN, no big deal so I entered it. Black screen. Tapped the power button again, it requested my PIN again, I entered and... black screen. Okay, I was a little bit concerned now. I held down the power button so the haptic buzz occurred, held for 10/20/30 seconds, a minute... nothing, no restart. Tap the power button and it asks me for my PIN again and shows yet another black screen. I held down Power + Volume Down but again, nothing and no restart.
I asked someone to call me, the screen came to life and I could take the call but each time I tried to pull down the system tray in order to try and reach Settings to restart it asked me for my PIN, I entered it = black screen. The call was unaffected.
I removed my SIM + microSD card tray = same deal as above.
The phone is clearly responsive in some way and the screen does display to ask for my PIN but I can't get into it in order to reboot it. Extremely worrying.
Does anyone have any advice? At the moment I am faced with the prospect of simply allowing the battery to run out so the phone shuts down naturally but that is going to take the best part of 2 days.
I'm really disappointed because I was planning another 1-2 years use for this handset as I just bought a 1TB microSD card which has been fine in the phone for weeks so I don't think that's the cause. It is also genuine SanDisk.
Any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance.
Hello, I hope you have made a backup with google backup recently... This does not happen often on android, but sometimes the system could have a problem. You can try this go the bootloader with the power and volume buttons , after recovery.. after apply a wipe data/ factory reset.. is will make a factory reset of your phone except the sd card. You should by fine after that and profit again.
Thanks, I appreciate your reply.
At the moment I am running the battery down until the handset switches off naturally. When it comes back on I will try to launch the phone normally, if that doesn't work I'll run the battery down again and attempt to reach the bootloader.
My photos are backed up to the cloud, I may lose some text messages but I managed to transfer the majority of my 2FA over to another Android device bar one.
At the end of the day if it's a choice between wiping it or a bricked/unusable handset then I don't really have one. What a pain.

The first thing I tried to do was hold down the power button or the power button in tandem with the volume buttons but the handset won't restart. I tried loads of times holding it for different amounts of time and... nothing.
Trust me, I tried.
The only way I can get the device to switch off is by draining the battery. I'm almost at 20% so it shouldn't be too much longer.
Well I already got a black screen after flashing a module magisk.. I have holding the power button and the phone have restart no problem, same thing on bootloop. You need to be sure to hold the button correctly.

Yeah, I'm certain I was holding the buttons correctly. I tried about 20 times using different combinations just to be sure but the device would not restart. The haptic shock buttons are one of my least favourite features of the u12+, it's got to be said.
Anyway, the phone ran out of battery about 15 minutes ago. I left it alone for few minutes and switched it back on. It allowed me back in and the device appears to be fully functional again. I can unlock by thumb print, face or PIN without issue.
Basically, it's fixed. My only concern is I have no idea what caused it or if it will happen again.
Thanks for offering help though, I appreciate it. I'm not sure if this thread can be closed/locked now? I'll look into that.
Cheers.
Yes.. i love the buttons too i never got a problem with this. Great if is fixed! Maybe make a factory reset the next time.
I am wondering if the new flagship have haptic buttons too.. htc will announce it Tuesday.
