I've noticed some unusual things regarding this Samsung Galaxy S10 I purchased from Amazon. I specifically wanted an AT&T branded phone so I could use the AT&T features. My old S7 International Version was unable to do so. I was first sent an unlocked phone, and it didn't work with the AT&T features. I sent it back and they sent me back what seemed to be an AT&T branded phone, because it shows the AT&T logo on boot and can use the features. I checked the IMEI number on one of those phone checker sites and it came up showing a completely different model and even processor phone than what I've got! I'm supposed to have a standard S10 (g973U) with a snapdragon chip, it shows an S10+ g975U with an exynos chip. AT&T shows it as such as well on the website when I look at my bill and profile. Looking at the phone itself it reports as a g973u though. I've heard that there are instances where phones might be blacklisted or stolen and have their IMEI's changed to hide what they are, and I'm afraid that this might be one of those. I was hoping to use it as a trade in with a Samsung Pre-Owned program to go up to an S20, but I don't want to get stuck with a bill and lose my phone if it turns out that that is the case. Is there a way to know for sure if that has happened with this phone? If so, I want to find a way to get my money back from the Amazon seller...
You within a certain period of time can return the phone to Amazon without stating reasons and get the purchase amount refunded : at least that's possible if you bought phone within the territory of the EU, you're EU citizien.

Yes he can return it after purchase but it has to be in the same condition as when purchase this means if he brought it new than he used it which means well it's now used and not new than they won't accept return because it's not in same condition as when purchased
It was used when I purchased it. I'm interested in finding out if my phone is legitimate, or if it's been messed with somehow and isn't what they claimed it was. Why does it show up on multiple different IMEI checking websites as an S10+ exynos when it's supposed to be an S10 snapdragon? Either the database is incorrect, or someone flashed a different IMEI onto a stolen or blacklisted phone in order to make it work. I want to know if it's a simple mistake of the IMEI database being incorrect, or if it's a malicious issue where someone sold me a stolen phone. If it was, then I don't care about the condition of the phone for returning, I will pursue a return with Amazon on grounds of being sold something that wasn't what they advertised.
The global IMEI database gets fed by OEM when a phone gets placed on the market and before it gets connected to any network.
Device info such as CSC, baseband info and code name can all be faked, your best bet is to check the download mode (which is by turning of the phone, connecting it to your computer, and holding the volume down and bixby keys) , to exit download mode just hold the volume down and power buttons together for ~10 - 15 seconds
download mode will tell you the real model name of the device, U variants are snapdragon, and they are not easily unlockable, but it could be a reused IMEI from another device (those are written with specialty tools like chimera or z3box) and that can be problematic depending on the country. afaik 2 phones with the same imei cant be on the same network and they get black listed
if your model is F variant, or N then it is the exynos model, and not really AT&T, in that case you can return it just fine
Well, I've done some more digging. I realized that the IMEI was also printed on the back of the phone, albeit in microscopic print, but it does match what it shows in the software, so I guess that's good. That's probably hard to fake? I also downloaded this app to do some more digging: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en It shows what it should be, and also a refurbish check shows it's original AT&T. So I guess it's ok. I don't know why multiple IMEI check websites would show the wrong information if that is supposed to come from the manufacturer. I guess if it's a fake, it's a darn good one.
Oh, also did the download screen trick, it didn't actually show the model number. It does show Knox is not tripped and it says it's official samsung. So I guess that means it's all ok?

This has to be a scam. Supposedly a wholesale/importer from the UK, now offering products to the general public. www.christdeal.com
They advertise new htc advantage x7501 for $450. They also show lowest prices anywhere on plasma tv, cameras, cell phones, etc. Of course I haven't sent them any money. Their only payment options are check/money order, or western union wired transfer. It says to send your check to somewhere in New York, but I can't find a phone number for the company name or address. Lets find out who these guys are and either try to get rid of them, or start buying stuff insanely cheap.
Anything? Does this seem like a scam to anyone else? Anyone know a way to verify that the legimate?

Site is not responding and no legitimate business only accept WU and check/money order...So YES it's a scam
That's like asking to get screwed....
Clearly a scam. An easy way to get a better idea about websites is to do a whois.domaintools.com search on the domain and see whether or not they are in some little third-world country somewhere, such as Formosa, Argentina in this case. For example the above mentioned rip-off site's info here
How do I go about interpreting that data? I see some things that are suspicious but not a whole lot more suspicioius than many other sites I tested.
What are the main clues?
I was curious about the various low priced cell phone cites as I recently lost mine and the full retail price is pretty ugly. (Currently I was considering a Titan, as it seems like one of the better all around CDMA devices).
It seems like there should be some people setting these things at a discount, there cost of goods can't be that high, and I imagine that there are surpluses. However the secrecy is a little odd. Why not ebay? They could get a lot more money for them there. People typically spend ~700 for a x7501 on ebay.
They may be grey market (i.e. not intended for resale) but if they work and they deliver it doesn't really matter to me (the devices themselves are not illegal). This would explain why they want to hide their identity, I would think that the various brands would investigate otherwise.
Also, if they scammers, their choice of product isn't so bright. Why not sell mostly deveices that people know about? The have a good number of older models that most people will not recognize, and they would probably be besT off comparing the models to things that comsumers by in stores (i.e. "unlocked version of the Sprint 6800" or the Telus P4000 rather than the HTC Titan)
Although they make be fakes that don't work as expected but look similar enough that some people might not know enought to be able to determine the difference.
David
i say scam or fakes. Some of the prices are too low, some are too high ($100 for a v600?) and (this isn't necessarily indicative of fake or anything, but it annoys me) they aren't exactly proportional

Any real company would not by a domainname for 1 year, I feel sorry for those that fall for it.
I finally recieved a response to my e-mail from this company
This guy had terrible english, and my impression is they are not legitimate at all. Everything he said was mostly jabbering. No punctuation, no indentation, could not provide a phone number for the address in New York, or any other phone number. Finally, he ended his message with "just send the your shipping info and payment info and we will soon ship your purchase" Any way I ordered an advantage, and selected to pay by check. The next page informed me that my product would be shipped when they recieved the check. Of course i'm not sending them a check, and i'm sure they will never contact me. I cant remember the guy's name Odarian Diego i believe. Thanks for all the feedback.

Verizon told me that they can't do anything about it, and they can't replace it too. What can I do?
is there any place I can go to buy a new body shell for my phone?
**Update**
I found this site, and they are saling HTC Touch CDMA OEM black housing w/ digitizer
http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-cdma-black-housing-digitizer-p-2377.html
do you thing it will work with verizon phone?
You may not be able to use it with Verizon, but you can always check. Don't feel bad, your not the only one with the bad housing, it seems there was an entire shipment of these with bad housing. There is a sticky thread over at PPCGeeks with a bunch of people with this problem. Mine hasn't yet, and I pray everyday it doesn't! But, Verizon is giving you BS, I don't think they want to take responsibility for it, I'm sure tons of called with the complaint. My suggestion would be to call, and get to the highest supervisor possible and then give your complaint to them, stating others have the same problem. Also, if you have insurance, it should replace, but try to get the new one free of charge, since it's a defect.
you see, when I was at there store and they called they told me that they NEVER received and complains about this phone has any problem (NEVER) I told the Manager that they are some people having the same problem, they told me that they never see one and Verizon they don't replace it but if I want I can buy another one and pay full price for it! ( I will never do that)
Personally, I hate going directly to the store, too busy, and way too many "techs" that have no idea what there are talking about! Sometimes when I'm there I just want to pull the Touch out and say hey look I have GPS!!! Anyways, your best bet is to call the 800 number. Anytime I needed anything I call customer service, have them note my account after resolving the problem, then walk in the store with no problem at all.
I will do that first thing in the mornning! thanks for the info.
No prob! Just make sure you throw some anger in, of course, without being directly rude. I always give the, "I paid a good bit of money for this device and you can't do anything for me!" Always seems to work well! Good Luck!
Good news! I'm geting a new phone in three day as replacement. I really did not say a lot and the girl how is helping me was very nice. we talked for 5 mins and I got my new phone..
**UPDATE**
wow, I have my new phone and I'm running OMJ's ROM , I have GPS, WM 6.1, and JAVA.

Now I have heard a lot of horror storied regarding Samsung's Customer Service / Warranty Repair center. So this may not come as a surprise to the people of this forum. Also, just a warning this is going to be a very lengthy post.
I bought my Galaxy S5 from AT&T and I had the phone for maybe all of two weeks before I noticed the glass on my home button beginning to chip away (I had not dropped it, scrapped it, etc.). So, I called Samsung customer service and they told me I needed to send it into their repair center in Plano, TX. While I wasn't happy about having to be without a phone, I figured it was worth it since they were going to fix this issue under warranty. So, I ship it off to the repair center and in 2 days it arrives (on 10/17/14). They began fixing the phone the following Monday and actually finished the repair the same day (10/20/14). For whatever reason their tests found both my screen defective and my motherboard defective and they replaced both including the button under warranty.
Problem found:
SENSORHUB FAILURE - LCD BLANK/SEG. MISSING/LINES
Solution:
REPLACED LCD - REPLACED PBA

At this point I'm pretty happy since I'm more-or-less going to have a completely new phone returned to me. The next day (10/21/14) my phone passed their quality check and the service tracker displayed "Closed - Unit Is Shipped".

This is where things begin to go slightly down hill. The following day (10/22/14), I began tracking the package on UPS to find out that UPS hasn't received the phone from Samsung yet. I call the repair center only to have them inform me that they don't have the phone, and it was picked up by UPS. The problem I found with this response was that the next day UPS still had claimed to not be in possession of my package (10/23/14). So I called Samsung again for them to tell me this time that they haven't given the phone to UPS yet and that it would be sent out before the end of that day and I would receive it the following Monday. So Friday rolls around (10/24/14) and UPS still claims to have not received a package. Because it was evident to me that Samsung didn't know whether or not they had my phone, I made a lost package claim to UPS just in case they did in fact receive my phone but had misplaced it. I then called Samsung AGAIN, I was told yet again that they hadn't sent out my phone. The guy then offered to send it out via. UPS overnight since it was supposed to be sent out on the 21st. He also offered to email the new tracking number ASAP. A couple hours roll around and I had not received any email from Samsung regarding a new UPS tracking number. I then proceed to call Samsung AGAIN, this time the woman that answered seemed surprised and confused that I had been offered overnight shipping for my phone because she stated that they weren't in possession of the phone anymore and that UPS received my package on the 21st. She the reassured me and told me that she made a claim to UPS for a lost/stolen package as the sender.
About an hour later I get a phone call from UPS to inform me that they have begun an investigation to locate my shipment and that they would be contacting Samsung as well. Now today (Sat, 10/25) I checked the UPS tracker to discover that UPS has successfully located my package and there was an Origin Scan in Mesquite, TX.

This told me that Samsung LIED to me on multiple occasions, telling me that they sent my phone out but still had possession of it the whole time. I have to say that I am very impressed and satisfied with UPS and how fast they took action and located my package. Samsung's Repair Center needs to get their **** together though. This is a warning for anyone thinking about sending their phone out to Samsung. If you bought your phone through a carrier, I recommend seeing if you can have your warranty issue addressed by them.
i see all these people on here saying theyre going to return or exchange their S6. i have a note 4 and it prbly has half the things theyre returning their S6 for, honestly i never bothered to check. my note 4 does have bad lag, that other ppl suppousedly dnt have, but i missed my return date waiting for a patch/upgrade to fix my lag.
i totally understand paying $600+ on a phone and wanting a good working phone but as a samsung fan whos gotten flawed phone after flawed phone ive accepted the fact that im never going to get a perfect phone. so my question is where do you all draw the limit? or are u wanting that perfect phone.
list of the flawed sammys
S3: found out it couldnt read memory cards after return date (got a refurb s3 that could read memory cards)
s5: antenna problems (started having rly slow internet)
note 4: phone lags badly.
I think people just want a phone that doesn't arrived to their door already scratched, or with a 24 hour led light on, or in my case, a charger that doesn't charge the phone out of the box.
Have a reorder processing as we speak. Software issues are absolutely nuts (auto brightness turning on/off on its own, Samsung keyboard keeps reactivating, MMS not working, etc) and there's something VERY wrong when I can reboot the phone, turn on *only* Google Maps and Pandora, and the phone runs out of memory, closing Pandora down. I mean, what the ****, Samsung?
I doubt the new phone will fix these issues, and I think I'm just going back to my Nexus 5.

It will, those issues are not normal. My phone shows none of those.
However, I have a scratch under the top bezel of my glass and the Always on LED on the flash so I am going to get a replacement.

Yeah, if my replacement device shows up tonight and has ANY defect, this is just going to be a straight return, and I'll wait for another model. I mean, I am a Samsung avoider usually. I tend to not like how they do business, how they advertise, the products they put out... The S6 looked THAT good to me, that I would put my history with them behind. If I get 2 defective phones in a row (and I mean this new one needs to be PERFECT) it's going right back and I'll wait for the '15 Moto X or something. Maybe the G4.

The good news is, there were no defects. The bad news is because there was no phone. It was on the UPS truck to be delivered on the 8th, and returned to the depot around 12AM. It never left the depot on the 9th, even though UPS swore up and down that it was out for delivery. Contacted T-Mobile, they contacted UPS, confirmed it was lost. Now, here's the kicker: T-Mobile left me a voicemail saying *I* had to file a claim with UPS to make things right. Called them right the **** back and told them it wasn't my responsibility. They're shipping another out tomorrow. Who knows when I'll get it?

I registered my phone when I got it. Then had a problem with the battery draining badly (like 20% overnight) and wifi going in and out. So, I went through the portal as pictured, they sent me a box to ship it from Ma to Texas, then promptly refused to look at it because it's Tracfone and are sending it back unrepaired.
Now is it me or does that say I have a warranty til 10/11/2023 on my Galaxy A53 5G 128GB (Tracfone)?
I'm just checking, because it looks to me like Samsung is refusing to honor the warranty I have here. Heck, like I said, they even paid for the shipping and my warranty clearly states it's a Tracfone. Why pay to have me send it out if they were going to do that. $##t like this gets me fuming, but I'm trying not to have another heart attack. I get on Samsung support chat somehow and they said they don't have the parts for Tracfone A53, and I called BS because an A53 is an A53, only the software is different and its already in the phone. Got nowhere. They were supposed to call me back an hour ago, never got the call.

I called straight talk last week and the guy was trying to talk me out of it because he said they're going to give me a used phone. I'm like this one isn't working; I need another one. So, he set it up to have me send it back, only he didn't. Never got an email, the box, or anything. But that's beside the point, I clearly have a valid Samsung warranty. I really don't want the hassle. Samsung support sucks, all set with Samsung. At least with iPhone I could walk into an apple store no matter what carrier and get a replacement in 10 min as long as I was within the warranty period.

Exactly what is the point then?
Try taking it to a Samsung experience center at a Best buy. Or if you used a MC or Visa card to buy it do a charge back through the bank. That's all I got.

The point is I have a warranty and Samsung wont honor it. They had me ship it to Texas (1500 miles?) knowing what it was. I bought at Walmart and it's too late to return it. I paid cash, have receipt but too late. So Samsung support sucks.
Apple sucks a lot less support-wise. No 2 ways about it. The 2 times in the past 14 years I had an issue with an iPhone I was able to walk out with a replacement in less than a half hour. There really is no comparison. I don't like that you can't change your own battery, or replace your OLED screen without losing some functionalities, but as far as support goes it's night and day.
