Anyone heard of this company? Cheap PPCs, etc. - General Questions and Answers

This has to be a scam. Supposedly a wholesale/importer from the UK, now offering products to the general public. www.christdeal.com
They advertise new htc advantage x7501 for $450. They also show lowest prices anywhere on plasma tv, cameras, cell phones, etc. Of course I haven't sent them any money. Their only payment options are check/money order, or western union wired transfer. It says to send your check to somewhere in New York, but I can't find a phone number for the company name or address. Lets find out who these guys are and either try to get rid of them, or start buying stuff insanely cheap.

Anything? Does this seem like a scam to anyone else? Anyone know a way to verify that the legimate?

Site is not responding and no legitimate business only accept WU and check/money order...So YES it's a scam

That's like asking to get screwed....

Clearly a scam. An easy way to get a better idea about websites is to do a whois.domaintools.com search on the domain and see whether or not they are in some little third-world country somewhere, such as Formosa, Argentina in this case. For example the above mentioned rip-off site's info here

How do I go about interpreting that data? I see some things that are suspicious but not a whole lot more suspicioius than many other sites I tested.
What are the main clues?
I was curious about the various low priced cell phone cites as I recently lost mine and the full retail price is pretty ugly. (Currently I was considering a Titan, as it seems like one of the better all around CDMA devices).
It seems like there should be some people setting these things at a discount, there cost of goods can't be that high, and I imagine that there are surpluses. However the secrecy is a little odd. Why not ebay? They could get a lot more money for them there. People typically spend ~700 for a x7501 on ebay.
They may be grey market (i.e. not intended for resale) but if they work and they deliver it doesn't really matter to me (the devices themselves are not illegal). This would explain why they want to hide their identity, I would think that the various brands would investigate otherwise.
Also, if they scammers, their choice of product isn't so bright. Why not sell mostly deveices that people know about? The have a good number of older models that most people will not recognize, and they would probably be besT off comparing the models to things that comsumers by in stores (i.e. "unlocked version of the Sprint 6800" or the Telus P4000 rather than the HTC Titan)
Although they make be fakes that don't work as expected but look similar enough that some people might not know enought to be able to determine the difference.
David

i say scam or fakes. Some of the prices are too low, some are too high ($100 for a v600?) and (this isn't necessarily indicative of fake or anything, but it annoys me) they aren't exactly proportional

Any real company would not by a domainname for 1 year, I feel sorry for those that fall for it.

I finally recieved a response to my e-mail from this company
This guy had terrible english, and my impression is they are not legitimate at all. Everything he said was mostly jabbering. No punctuation, no indentation, could not provide a phone number for the address in New York, or any other phone number. Finally, he ended his message with "just send the your shipping info and payment info and we will soon ship your purchase" Any way I ordered an advantage, and selected to pay by check. The next page informed me that my product would be shipped when they recieved the check. Of course i'm not sending them a check, and i'm sure they will never contact me. I cant remember the guy's name Odarian Diego i believe. Thanks for all the feedback.

Christdeal Is A Scam
Of Coarse These Guys Are Scammers Look At Their Website And Url First Off They Are From Armenia Look At The Url, Second They Only Accept Western Union And They Have No Legal Agreement, Anyone Who Sends Money To These Guys Will Get Burned!!

HTC clone

just found this clone on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/GPS-WiFi-window...08458183QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_s_Pocket_PC_s?
it also boast touch flo!!!
Neat, when are you going to buy it?
But to get serious for a moment: this cloning is really a desease in these days! Sometimes I wish they just would cut of this part of the world from international trading! It serves no purpose other than scamming some people into a deal with a low-quality device which then does not even have half of the power of the original!
But cloning seems to be a common thing anyway. I can't think of any high-end device which hasn't been cloned. I just wonder why the manufacturer's don't take legal steps against it since for sure even design is copyrighted!
Damn, there are a lot of idiots buying that crap - click on his FEEDBACK page!
Oh man... That's really crap. I'm pretty sure that it's a china made clone.
Cheap chiny sh*t. Don't worth even if you get it for free.
looks like a right Mongrel
looks like a apple/htc cross breed
looks sooooo cheap & nasty

I think China has some stupid legal issues, so these manufacturers can't go after them. With that device I can atleast see 2 companies could sue that cloner and its distributor, HTC, and Microsoft and us for copying the stuff from sites like ours without consenting. And even they are marketing using their propritetory stuff without even disclaiming. Sheesh.

Chinese imitation mobiles are totally crap
But as my chinese friend says: "Chinese crap is for export, we keep the quality products for us"
So, there is a lot of good quality/design/functionallity devices but not found so easyly for the rest of the world.

Nice one. "chinese crap is for export, we keep the quality product for us". Hahaha. China made clones really makes me puke. There's a small little shop in Singapore that sells all the well known phones imitation. And crowd gather there to look. Very few people buys it because the imitation looks ugly and cheap. Looks more like a toy phone to me especially the X1 imitation. Shall take a photo of it when I pass by and post it here.
Color Screen - OMG!!!!!!!
Microphone - Ohhhhh, even better!
Speaker(s) - Not 1, but maybe 2!!!!
this looks good.

Wow, it has Windows Mible!!!
its just funny how it says "touchflo 3d" and its the oldschool cube from the touch hahaha
To say the truth, looking a little closer at the pics, it seems that the so-said "HTC software copies" are good old freewares made here. Look the tree tabs HTC home, I saw that here. And the too-well-formed cube, isnt't it SCLPC++? And I'm pretty sure that these chinese cloner are so in a hurry they won't customise anything, they are all defaults settings.
It is despicable anyway to make money out of freewares without author consent.
Bzw, if you want to play "pick a pair" beetween original and copies, look at this: http://www.china-mobile-phone.com/
Sometimes you can have a laugh:
Vogue dual twist (to hard to rotate the device):
Diamond dual touch:
You'll find clones from blockbusters from Nokia, Motorola, SonyEricsson too.
There are lots of original designs too (at least "designs I don't know the origin), too bad they makes these cheepo clones. Do it really boost the sales?

Good, Cheap Memory Cards on Ebay.

We've all seen post about where not to buy memory cards. I would like to start a list of Ebay sellers we can trust.
I don't know how to set up any lists, but if you could just tell us the sellers name, type of card and price. Short recommendation is cool. I would apreciate any posts.
Everybody wants cheap cards, but we hate throwing away money.
Stay away from eBay when buying microSD's. Go to newegg.com . Sweet prices and you will definatly get what you paid for. Do you have a local Fry's Electronics at.your place? They always have the good deals
lol with all the notorious Chinese fakes out there I doubt anyone at this point want to take the risk. Even if user has high rating don't matter all know stories about reputable vender account been taken and used for scams. Even if they do find decent card with decent price then they have to test the mSD thoroughly checking the basic IOPs rate and verify the data allocated is not corrupted along with actual applicable size of the card itself.
Like Lakeshow423 suggested go get it from Newegg and if you don't like it send it back in 30days, if you have problem later then check the OEM warrenty 90days/1year. When it comes to your data you can't take chance trust me I know. Thats why I run 3x NSS rated at total 28.4TB

I'd suggest MicroCenter.com. i work around the corner from their Sharonville Ohio store, really good people with good prices.
Or i'd recommend newegg.com as mentioned.
Microcenter, is nice... 8gb sd only 10 or so.

That's the exact location where I buy all my stuff.
Thanks guys.
The Ebay thing got people a little heated.
Thanks for the tip but everyone uses Newegg. I asked because you never know what hole in the wall places people find and trust. You don't know til you ask. I got my 16gb from Ebay really cheap, it's real I've had it for 2 years.
Update: Just checked Microcenter.com - That's what I'm talking about.
Bought a 32GB card from ebay...seller rated at like 99% positive. Still got a **** card. Doesn't work at all..won't format... ****ing ridiculous.
What I learned when playing with the MyTouch3g, you want to get a class 4 or higher device. This will almost guarentee success. The standard class 2 device seems to have issues with the HTC devices.
I got a 16 G class 4 for 18.00 from Office Depot here in FL. Newegg is also a favorite!!!
To my homies in Sharonville, and Cincinnati area, a shout out from a former Blanchester boy!
I just checked Microcenter.com and only see 1 mSD. SanDisk 32GB C2 = 164.99 < Overpriced you can get it for $80-90. Your best bet is going with reputable dealers who you can trust if anything goes wrong they will take care of it and Newegg has done it for me in the past.

Cool Glad you like em. It's a n3rd store but they got the stuff. If you ever pass through Cincinnati you should stop in a take a peak around.
I remember I purchased 32GB Sandisk from Irish vendor (yes, shipped from Ireland) and it works 100%.
jandr.com is a trustable seller (The store is located at City Hall, NYC) and I often buy stuff in person. They have 32GB Transcend class 2 for $75.

Would you replace your phone for this?

To the OP: YES!
I would definitely exchange it!

Consider this: the fact that you had to ask at all may indicate that the problem is not so severe as to warrant an immediate YES! from yourself. You needed group consensus to push you toward a decision that obviously didn't bother you terribly.
There are two paths, padawan. Accept that nothing is perfect, and that what you have is completely bearable and won't affect the quality of your life one way or the other. Or continue forth and
Keep

Costs

The Rest
Of Us
At least the YES! men above will bear the costs of your transactions as well.
I believe the fact that T-mo and friends have such a lenient return policy hurts all of us in the long run.

Its a defective product, most likely a crack in the LCD itself. How can you even tell him to keep it, god knows the underlying causes to such an obvious problem.
This is not a dead pixel, its a crack on his LCD.
Why would you tell him to keep a defective product is way beyond me, but I have a solution to your TMO cost problems, how about YOU buy from them the defective crap that is send back to them, its a win/win

Magnetic Dock [Update]

UPDATE 2: Didn't get too much interest, but decided to go ahead and have them made anyway. There is a very limited quantity available for now, but available on Amazon for whoever wants one. Will more more if there is interest:

Hey everyone. I been seeing a bunch magnet based type c connectors popping up where you plug a small connector to your phone to which a cable magnetically attaches to for easy attaching and detaching.
Kind of like this one
Has anyone come across a similar thing but a dock instead of a cable? Basically having the same plug on the phone but being able to just put it on a dock that has the other magnetic end. The problem with phone docks is it's hard to plug the phone in and out of them. This might be a good solution.
If there isn't anything already available, I'm thinking I might make one. For those of you that have/had the Nexis 10, I'm the guy that made the extremely popular (by my standards) docks for that tablet. If there is enough interest, I can tap into everything I've learned from that project and make something like this.
What do you guys think?
That's pretty cool, and something I've been looking at doing, did you 3D print it? If so, care to share the file? if not, how did you make it?

Really nice!
Don't have the 30 to spend right now, but if still available when the time comes, I'll definitely buy one. :good:
Will you still be able to plug a "normal" USB C cable into the phone or you have to remove the adapter that makes it magnetic?
I like it!
Typo advice for your Amazon product listing: You wrote "Mirco-USB" in the product listing! Also, it was confusing to me that you list 3 connectors in 1 item, because I am used to eBay listings where I have to specify what type... Also I think you should specify "Apple Lightning Connector" because as a non-Apple user, I initially thought that you were advertising that the dock included "Lighting".
If it was $30 like the guy above me said, I wouldn't be getting one, but since Amazon is showing me $10 or $12 with cable, I'm violating my own boycott of Amazon in protest of the unfair working conditions & low wages subsidized by US food stamps for its employees in face of the $25 million per hour that Jeff Besos pays himself (considering that he crossed the $100 Billionaire line in 2017, and now has $150,000,000,000 in wealth in 2018, and a typical US work-year is 2000 hours).
I found the magnetic cables wearing out quickly. The ones that didn't, only charge at a slow speed...

Question Samsung store promotional credit can't be used for everything in the samsung store?

So I've pre ordered my S22U ( amazing btw) and now I've received my $250 promotional credit as I didn't use it for accessories i didn't need. Figured I'd put it towards one of the Samsung TV's to replace my older one. No dice. During check out it says this promo can't be used for the items in the cart. Can the credit only be used for accessories?
I believe so. It sucks and the worst part is they limit the choices even within the accessories section.
Darn, it would not work for a sound bar either. I do not need that lousy keyboard they offer for the S8+
Well that sucks! So do their accessories though.
Man, those are some deceitful tactics. I'd wait until after the pre order window had i known as they've increased the trade in value by $150 while removing what's turning out to be a useless Samsung store credit after that window. What am I supposed to do with this useless credit now? Ffs

I think I have good news about it for you: try search for the desired item in a search box(google for example) and from the different sellers sites pick Samsung and open their page to view that item, sign in to your account and proceed to the cart with that item, the cart will show your available points plus you can apply your promo code in the box and buy that item(s) at final, discounted price.
It has worked for me last night when I tried to spend my $50(reservation$$) plus I had $8 reward points but on the Samsung product pages they had only a meaningless remnants-crap items I wasn't interested in buying. I didn't care that the 15W wireless charger + 25W brick and cable was "out of stock" I got the items with April 7th delivery date - but of course, today Samsung already sent me a 'corrected' date: April 14th. That's ok, at least I've got what I want and need - not what they want me to spend my $$ on.
I hope it will work for you on TV.

Damn, I wish I didn't use the promo for the bunch of accessories I didn't really need. I guess the wireless car charger will be OK along with the smart tag plus. But I have no idea what I'll do with the buds pro. Already have a bunch of better sounding BT headphones. Spoke with their customer service and they told me the code is only for the watches keyboards and phone accessories. Even a Samsung external SSD wasn't able to be discounted. Hope this works for others should they see it before they pull the trigger.
That charger I bought was nowhere to find in their promo offers, but I figured out that it has to be advertised elsewhere, they are in the sales business after all, Samsung webpages is a mess so I'm glad I'm done w/ them now for at least one year if they put something interesting on the market next "flagship" season of 2023 ) The time spent on "chatting" w/their cs always makes me contemplating about quitting Samsung forever yet, I come back again.
Unless the Galaxy Watch 4 with LTE is considered an accessory, I had no problem spending my $250 credit, my $13 bonus points as well as $37 extra dollars to pay for the watch.
